Leslie's pool and their incredible service engineer, Frank, did a fantastic job of estimating, obtaining necessary parts and completing the re-plumbing of my pool equipment efficiently and to perfection. Leslie's also estimated the work required and the parts for what I felt was a very reasonable cost. The end result was even better than I was hoping for. Frank did an impressive job reimagining the layout of the plumbing and compacted the design in the most efficient way. Frank also carefully listened to the few specific details I wanted and addressed and executed what I was thinking exactly. The whole project was completed in a day! The parts department in San Carlos maintained excellent communication throughout regarding the status of my required parts for the work and expediently arranged for the service once all the necessary parts were available. Trust me, it is difficult to find a reputable pool company with the level of integrity of Leslie's Pool. I had contacted several other companies that made excuses or just completely failed to show up or follow through. I am more than 100% satisfied with this experience and couldn't give higher marks to Frank and Leslie's Pool service. read more

My pool developed bad and impossible to remove scale. My pool guy was stumped so I went to Leslie's in San Carlos . With photos on my phone and pool water in hand the team at Leslie's solved the problem. Alan, the general manager, and his associates Naomi and Mark were like interchangeable parts. I was ready to adopt them. The cause was extremely high phosphates. The cure was a Leslie No Phos treatment over three cycles. Slowly but surely the scale began to disappear and the Phosphate count went from 2400 to 0. My pool is back to its beautiful self. The Leslie San Carlos team held my hand through this ordeal. Frank, who came to our house and installed a defective part on our Polaris pump was able to get this done easily and well. Ordered two items online for in store pickup. One got canceled and someone called Tuesday to tell me the other item was ready. Stopped in on Saturday and they told me they canceled the rest of the order because I hadn't picked it up in time. Umm it had been four days and no one told me there was a deadline. Had to pay for it again and now I have to wait for them to give me a refund online. What a pain. Through it all, the rep was totally unsympathetic and didn't really care. It makes sense why so many other reviews mention the horrific customer service here. I try to give money to the local stores but I'll just go to Amazon now. read more

My grandpa Willy is a 89 year old immigrant who is not easy to understand and doesn't ask anyone for help. Recently he had a difficult time finding a pool supply place to buy stuff for his pool...well that was until he luckily found Amir at this location. My grandpa was so happy that he was able to do the ordering himself since a lot of places had a hard time understanding him, and also he finally found a "friend" to help me. Amir literally went above and beyond to help my grandpa. He helped my grandpa as he was his own. Brought our Dolphin pool cleaner in for repair. They had it for 4 weeks. Had to call them several times to get them to do anything! Finally they told me that the motor was bad and I had to spend over $500 for a new one. The cleaner costs $800. I took it home and opened it up and took the motor out. Took it apart and fount that the step motor that ran the impeller was not working. I took the step motor apart and cleaned it up and put it back together. Works like new! read more

Be careful buying from this store. They don't stand by their stated return policy. I went to the store to test my water chemical and the store clerk sold me chemicals that he said I need for the pool. Turned out I did not need them as it was misdiagnosed and I tried to return them. The products are unopened and intact. The store clerk said, they don't process chemical return. Why was not I informed such policy when I purchased? I then called customer support number, (877) 986-6340, and I was told that it is store discretion as to whether or not they accept them. So, Leslie's doesn't have a policy that customers can rely on. One day when they feel like they want to take advantage and they will turn down the customer, and when they feel they are under pressure, they will accept the return. Will never visit again. Even online retailer, Amazon, accepts return in 30 days. Good luck prey on your customers, Leslie! read more

Although I had stopped purchasing from the local Leslie's store due to inconsistent and often unsatisfactory customer service over the years, I'm glad I finally returned to give them another try. Service really boils down to the people... from the store manager to the hiring, training, and managing of staff. The current store manager Angela is a breath of fresh air. In my last 3 visits, she has been super helpful and super friendly. She provided some important and complimentary tests on my pool chemistry that my home kit is not equipped to test. Through her guidance, our pool water is once again sparkling and will likely stay that way. Aside from the free testing and advice, she offered to dismantle and examine my pool sweep to see why it wasn't functioning properly. She suggested coming in early to avoid the crowds. I took her up on this and within 15 minutes, my equipment was examined and cleaned free of charge. read more

Leslie employee Omar picked up the cover on his day off and drove it to my parent's house. My dad is compromised so can't be out in public and my mom is in her 70s. I live over 300 miles away. The manager Mr. Amir is an amazing guy, He is very welcoming and helpful. He helped me with all my chemical needs and educated me in how to go about using them. I have been in the store maybe 8-10 times and he has helped me every time with a very kind and respectful attitude. He is the reason I keep going back instead of using online services. I bought a booster pump, filters, sweeper parts and some other tools and equipments from that store because of his ability and patience to help me solve my pool equipment issues. I live 15 min away from the store. If you need someone who is truly caring and wants to help you with your pool needs he is your guy. He treats his store like it's his own and takes pride in his work. I wish all retail store managers were like him! I just got a spa and stopped in to get some guidance and start-up chemicals. Several items were recommended, but I figured out later that some were not needed (like a bromine tablet floater with bromine powder). When I finally got around to returning them about a month later, the manager enforced a strict 14-day return policy. When I pressed that I will need supplies for the next 20 years, and he was about to lose 20 years of future business, the manager said "it's not worth discussing." Shame on them. This is horrible service and trades a one-time sale for a long-term relationship. I will not go back. read more

It is convenient to find everything in one place, whether you're looking for a fence for your pool, kick boards, chemicals, or solar heating panels (though I hear that the solar panels here don't work well and don't last longer than a year). I do most of my shopping at the mom and pop store Landon, however this store carries certain items that Landon doesn't. I had to chime in and say my experience did not at all match up with the other reviews on Yelp. When I went in looking for help with taking care of a hot tub, I got some helpful recommendations for products and was steered in the right direction. I needed a hot tub filter as well. I thought I saw the correct size in the store, so I pulled it off the shelf and purchased it. When I realized the filter was not the correct fit for my hot tub, I was incredibly lazy and held onto it for about 4 months. I thought I might try to sell it on eBay or something, but never did. When another occasion brought me back to Leslie's, I brought the filter with me, but couldn't find my receipt. The sales clerk went totally out of his way to look through their database and pull up my previous sale. He printed out another copy of my receipt from 4 months ago. I said store credit would be great, but he was able to offer a full refund straight onto my credit card, on a filter that I had previously opened. On top of that, the staff is knowledgeable, and they offer free water testing, if you need that sort of thing. I am not sure how the service could have been so bad for other customers. They seemed to care when I went in, and have all the products I needed. read more

We recently bought a house with a pool, and we are totally clueless on basic pool care . As always I would go to Yelp to check reviews and Leslie's past reviews was scary to say the least , so I was hesitant to go the store. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed when I decided to visit the store today with Matt (store manager) and David who are both very helpful and knowledgeable. I was told that they started late last year so they are the new staff of Leslie's. Go check out the store and find out for yourself . I've only recently begun taking care of a pool and I didn't know anything about care or maintenance. David as Leslie pool has been awesome, he took his time to explain to me the process of caring for a pool. He explained clearly why the problem was occurring, what to do to fix it, and how to prevent it in the future. The customer service is outstanding. I don't know anything about prices for pool stuff, but I do know I have not spent a lot of money and the pool I'm caring for is clear and beautiful because of their insight. Having spent considerable sums of money in this store over the years, today, I needed to make just a minor purchase to make a repair to a net. When I thanked the check out clerk upon receiving my change (I sincerely hope it was not the manager), I was directly criticized for making only a $4 purchase, he went on to tell me in so many words, that he hoped I would not shop there again. This used to be a helpful store where you could go in ask questions and get detailed guidance. Today, I went in to get a spa blanket and dealt with Seth, who did not answer questions (it's unnerving to make a comment and have the person simply look away!), didn't thank me at purchase completion, and in all manners indicated he did not care about doing any more than the bare minimum. Given the previous post on terrible service at this store, I think I will be taking our business elsewhere. I expect that Home Depot will be my first alternative. This was the worst experience i've had in a very long time. I called, told them what i needed - they took the order, told me they'd get it in 5 days. I called in 8 days. The same woman - NO record of my order - says she'll find it and call me back. I wait 7 days. I call back. She says she still can't find it, has no idea. says "this time we'll attach it to your name" - so what did she do the FIRST time? She's "sorry" - well,, damn right. I have found Leslie's customer service (via phone) to be lacking in its orientation to "service." That is, it took half an hour to get someone on the phone, only to have that person behave in a way that was curt, unfriendly, and very off-putting. I have a salt machine for my pool and it was displaying a code 144 low salt. I added salt then got a code 194 dirty cell. So I went to Leslie's pool supply in San Carlos and ask if anyone knows anything about cells. Angela said that she knows a lot about sell,and asked me what i needed to know. I asked her if it's worth cleaning a cell or should I buy a new one. She told me to clean it and it will be fine. I asked her ,how do you clean a cell. She told me to get a bucket and fill 80% water and 20% muriatic acid and put the cell in it. I asked her, how long should i leave the cell in the bucket ? She told me until it stop bubbling. So I bought the muriatic acid and went home to clean my cell. I checked it every 15 mins. until it stopped bubbling. Total time was 55 mins. It was very clean. I put it all back together and added more salt.after a few mins. I noticed that I had 2 more codes. 120 and 121, low current. I googled the codes and did the test . Specs is 20 to 28 volts. MY was 37.5 volts. I emailed Jandy and they told me that my cell was no good. I also googled about clean the cell and they said in bold letter," DO NOT LEAVE THE CELL IN THE ACID LONGER THE 30MINS.AT A TIME,IF AFTER 30 MINS.IT IS NOT CLEAN WASH THE CELL AND SOAK AGAIN,UNTIL CLEAN. See, if i would have went online to learn how to clean the cell instead of asking Angela, my cell would be okay. Now I had to buy a new cell. 1059.00 dollars later. I will never ask Leslie's pools for any advice again. I wish she would have been honest and told me that she didn't know. A very expensive lesson. read more

I got there at 7:02pm, and she did not want to sell me the part, claiming that her register was closed. Yes 2mn after official closing time ! What kind of customer service is that ? Pros: Test your Pool/Spa water and provide the chemicals to make it right. Prices seem about right given the location. Cons: This was my second time visiting, first I thought it was an outlier for bad service about 6 months ago, not really bad, but more like "I don't really care for your business", hard to explain. If you need expert help, good luck, if you know what you need they are likely to have it. I returned a second time on the same day after getting the water sample and the service was marginally better. Customer service is poor. Would only go back if I have to since this is the closest local store. read more

Not only did they have it in stock, they installed it for free. 15 minutes and 15 bucks later, I was on my way. I've been buying my chemicals there for about 5 years now. Could I find them cheaper online? Probably. But I get free water tests and great advice. I was having a persistent problem with algae that no amount of shock was fixing. I described the problem and they recommended their "Green to Clean" program. I was skeptical - it really sounded like a way to get me to buy lots of Leslie's chemicals. (It requires 5 different treatments, including a ton of their pricey non-chlorine shock.) But holy smokes, it worked perfectly - my pool has never been this clean, water is crystal clear. There are some things Amazon can't and shouldn't replace. read more
