We purchased a swimspa from them, but due to contractor difficulties on our end, things went sideways - the spa ended up sitting on top of a concrete pad rather than being sunk into a pit as intended. Once we sorted out a new contractor, Creative Energy -- and in particular Alex (their delivery chief) - rolled up their sleeves and figured out how to move the spa off the pad while we dug the pit, then came back and moved it in once it was ready. None of this was their problem to solve. But it was clear they weren't comfortable leaving a customer in a difficult situation they hadn't caused, and they went well beyond what anyone could reasonably expect to help put things right. Should've known something was wrong when they kept advising to use "fix-a-leak" for 3years, to which the manufacturer said they "don't recommend." The store dealer reps (Wesley & Neil) refuse to have an actual conversation. They simply send me a link to agree to pay $3000-$7000 to remove the spa for repairs. Actually wanted to give Zero Stars but had to put 1 so I can leave a review. I called Creative Energy in San Mateo to get a monthly quote to clean & service my small spa at my home. I was given a monthly quote of 180.00 all inclusive from the maintenance department to provide requested service. However when my statement arrived, I was charged 354.00. It must've been a mistake so I called and spoke with the manager to make adjustment so charge would reflect the quoted amount of 180.00. Also quoted a repair service that wouldn't cost over 1200.00 and they tried to bill me 400.00 more after. So make sure to read the fine print when doing business with this company. I do not recommend doing business with this company. To Reply to David yes, I did use profanity which I never do but after being ripped off and lied to, and they miss represented their service and repair job anybody would've lost their temper was a horrible experience. We went to 4-5 different hot tub stores across the Bay Area before ultimately deciding to purchase here, and Chris was the reason why. Not only are the products themselves incredibly high quality, but the experience felt completely different from everyone else we spoke with. Chris took the time to really understand our situation with young kids, how we planned to use the spa, our space constraints, safety concerns, and overall what would realistically work best for our family. At no point did it feel pushy or salesy. It felt consultative and thoughtful. Even after installation, Chris came by personally and spent over an hour walking us through maintenance, water care, setup, and best practices. That level of service and care is rare. To share a little background, we have had hot Springs spas in NJ, 2 in Tahoe, Orinda, Danville and Point Richmond. All were positive experiences except for a leaky tub in Pt. Richmond. Scott and his management embraced our issue, confirmed an unique issue and proposed an amazing alternative with a new spa. The new Highlife Aria is magnitudes better than my 2013 spa, uses substantial less energy, is now internet accessible and is has obviously benefited from more than a decade of new engineering. I bought my hot tub from this team about twenty years ago and have loved it ever since. After installation (crane lift and all!), they have remained reliable for all maintenance ( thankfully minimal!). This week, I needed help with the newly replaced cover, and worked with Alex who surprisingly was part of the team that did the original installation. He was incredible!!!!! Response time amazingly fast, very flexible on arranging a visit within two days, perfectly punctual and able to correct the issue immediately and without charge! Scott has been FANTASTIC to work with. We bought a tub a while back at the urging of our contractor so it would 'be ready'. The contractor dragged his feet for months, scheduled and canceled delivery, etc. When it was for sure going to come out, I spoke to Scott and he advised to just go measure it 1 more time to be sure. And sure enough, the contractor built to the wrong dimensions!! Eventually we got it installed - which was a very smooth process. Throughout all of this, any time I had a question or concern, be it dimensions, installation, electrical, etc Scott would always be so patient and helpful! And he even sent over a few docs on hot tub setup and maintenance 101, which proved extremely useful. Been using the hot tub for 2 or so months, and we love it. We were looking for a hot tub on and off for years and finally pulled the trigger. Initially we wanted a Japanese style Hinoki wood tub, round and minimalist. In the end we went the other route with a super modern high end 2023 Aria Hot Spring Spa. Not cheap, but amazing. The Aria we purchased has a lounger with massage jets that actually feels like a massage, is esthetically pleasing, and is super efficient. We worked directly with Scott Campbell and he was fantastic. He knows everything about hot tubs, is calm, not pushy, and really try's to figure out what you as an individual/family are looking for in a hot tub. We visited the store at least three times before deciding on which spa was best for us and every time Scott was helpful. In addition to Scott we can say the entire team at Creative Energy was helpful, specifically Josh. We only had one hiccup during this process and that was on delivery day with our electrician. I hired a friend of a friend to install the sub panel and connect the hot tub. All of his work was super clean, his work at the main panel where he had to combine some breakers, the line from the main panel to the sub panel was run through conduit even though it wasn't required, the sub panel was put in the perfect position, and the line from the sub panel to the tub was hidden and exactly where I wanted it. However, when he connected the wires to the hot tub he basically put one of the heat pump wires in hole "3" instead of hole "4". Since we were antsy to get in the tub I called Mike Delfino of San Mateo Electric who has been the recommended electrician for Creative Energy for over 20 maybe 30 years. Originally I had Mike come out to give a quote on the job and he quoted me 1,900. My friend of a friend electrician quoted me at 1,000, so I thought we'd save some money and give this young up and coming electrician some money. Anyhow, Mike came out and said that my friend did a great job and there must be something wrong with the Spa, he charged 300 to come out and check. Mike missed that a wire was in hole "3" and not in hole "4", which happens I guess but when I reached out to ask why he charged my wife 300 for an inaccurate assessment he never got back to me. So, whoever you hire make sure they put the right wires in the right holes :) Creative Energy sent somebody out the next day and they fixed it in literally 2 minutes. All in we could not be happier. The spa is amazing, Scott was fantastic, and we use it everyday. If you have the space, enjoy soaking, and have the money, buy one today. read more

Josh spent his time and shared his knowledge with us freely and without any phony baloney salesman crap. It was because we have an amazing opportunity to build our dream home. We don't have buckets of money. But we have a dream that has some ..... gaps or holes in it. Josh was a super duper nice guy that took the time to wrangle my 1st grader on meth attention span and my limitless and crudely worded questions and he helped us get a little bit of knowledge so we can continue to plan wisely and develop our dream. Terrible, terrible service and the spa covers are garbage. I've had 2 spa covers completely FAIL in 5 years and now have to buy a new one. I called for a spa service and asked the tech to meet with me. He came and left and didn't contact me. I refused to pay it because I they ignored my service request and I had to pay an Electrican to troubleshoot the issue. Terrible service. Ordered a new cover from them (number 3 for $ 875) on 12/28/2022. Still haven't seen it 3/20/2023. I have called 3 times and was told it is coming soon. LIE, found out it was never order via email. This is an overdue review. From the start, Scott was very welcoming and helpful. He walked us through the sizable showroom and we got to see a lot of different sizes and options. This was my friend's first time buying/owning a spa (I was her PM managing her home remodel) so there were a lot of questions and Scott was able to answer them all and guide us toward a great purchase. She got her new Hot Springs hot tub in April. They warned us that there was a fairly long wait time from final order to delivery, we had to wait 2 months, but it was worth the wait. Scott and the CE team were professional, accommodating and helpful. They stayed in touch with us & kept us updated throughout. They got us the subpanel in advance so that our electricians could start doing the work in preparation for the tub. It's been wonderful having the spa now for about 8 months. It's beautiful and so relaxing to soak in. We have had questions since owning it, but Scott always responded and helped us post sales. I've waited three months to leave this review because I wanted to give them a chance to make everything right but after today I've had enough. This entire experience has been one big nightmare. We bought a spa from them in August 2020 and the salesman told us that it would take three to six months to get it because they were busier than normal with everyone stuck at home and working on their houses. That was understandable and I had no issue with it. What I did have an issue with was that several times we emailed him asking for an update and most of the time we didn't get a response and the few times we did get a response it was that he didn't know when it would be in and he couldn't find out. It seemed weird that he had no way to find out even some sort of date range but never having bought a spa I figured that's just how it is. Later I started to think he just wasn't bothering. We finally got the spa in February. There was almost no notice which was a headache because we needed to be home to deal with them and with the electrical work but again, I figured that's just how it is. When they delivered it they broke the front panel when they were pushing it across the patio. They swapped it with the back panel so the broken part was against the fence and said they'd be back as soon as possible with a replacement panel. The steps that they brought were used and dirty. They said they didn't have any new ones and asked if I was ok with the used ones. They actually asked me if I was ok with used steps as if that would be acceptable. I said absolutely not and they said they'd bring new ones with the new panel. We were also told that they'd give us a tutorial on how to manage the water. Instead we were given a bag of products and told it's easy. A couple weeks went by and we hadn't heard anything about the panel and steps so we emailed the salesman and didn't get a response. We sent another email and he responded a few days later and said the panel had been ordered but he didn't know when it would be in. A few weeks later they showed up with the panel but no steps. This whole time the panel is hanging off of the spa because the front panel has clips to hold it in place, the rear panel which they had put on the front didn't have the clips. The new panel he showed up with was another rear panel without the clips. So he put that one on the back and moved the broken front one to the front and cut a piece from a spare one and patched it. So now it stays on but it has a giant piece of another one glued on to it. Also by this point the anchors that hold the screws which hold the panel were falling out and he had to fix those too. So now we are waiting for the proper replacement. After several more emails to the salesman that were ignored I started thinking maybe he could have looked up when we'd get the spa when we were asking before but he was blowing us off. Finally we just asked him for the customer service email so we wouldn't have to deal with him. Why he didn't just give us that address before instead of ignoring us is beyond me. Customer service told us last week that the panel was in but they were waiting on the steps and had planned to bring both at the same time. We said bring the panel now. So they came today, 10 weeks after we got the spa, and they replaced the panel. But somehow they installed it in such a way that as soon as we opened and closed the cover it fell off again; that's the picture I attached. They also left screws all over the patio which is great considering people tend to be barefoot around spas. And to no one's surprise, they didn't bring the steps. I've basically given up on getting those at this point but we are going to email them about the panel falling off again. I have no idea when that will be fixed but they could come tonight and they still wouldn't get two stars. I can't advise against doing business with this place strongly enough. We are now nine months into this ordeal and still don't have a spa that's put together properly or the steps we paid for. As far as the actual spa itself it's great apart from the panel that doesn't want to stay on. From watching YouTube videos I know that it's not a design flaw, it's just bad installation. If you are interested in one of their spas you'll be better off seeing if you can get one someplace else. read more

I used drive all over the place to buy Spa supplies only to find that the quality of the chemicals you need on hand to keep your spa water well conditioned t I found in the big box stores to be subpar. Then by the time you realize the stuff you purchased at Home Depot isn't really working, you've already used most of the product. Whut the, whut the? One day I said enough is enough and took the drive across the bridge to Creative Energy. I used to buy my spa supplies from them several years ago. But stopped when the old spa needed to be replaced. The staff may be different but their customer service is the same. They don't try to oversell you and they ask all the right questions to stir you in the right direction. We were sold on a salt water system. It has not worked from the beginning. I have made numerous calls and requests. No longer and I being called back. The solution is to drain and refill the tub. Done twice and still not working. We have incurred so many additional expenses from supplies to our water bill. It simply does not work. The company will not take responsibility if do anything to help me resolve the situation. I have been caused much stress and time. Very disappointing. read more

They went above and beyond the call of duty and I have nothing but good things to say about them (this is the only reason they got 2 starts) 2) Bad: My sales guy. Whatever his name was. I can't even remember his name because after he got my money I never heard from him again. I left messages and I never got any updates as to when I'd get my hot tub. 3) Bad: The lady in the delivery department has no information whatsoever. She has no communication with your manufacturer and could not predict when my tub would arrive even as a 1 week estimate. Unacceptable. 4) Bad: The hot tub Errored out the first and only time I have ever drained it. It got an air bubble inside which I could not remove even with the instructions and YouTube video. I filled it through the filter area just as I was instructed to do to prevent that from happening. I contacted Creative Energy in July 2017, when starting a backyard paving project that included adding a hot tub to our backyard in Pacifica. Hot Spring Spas had been strongly recommended by our project designer, so I filled out an online questionnaire and was quickly contacted by Scott Campbell. He answered my initial questions and invited me to come to the showroom in San Mateo to try out the one he thought would be a good fit for my family's needs. My daughter and I fell in love with the mid-sized Prodigy just as Scott had predicted. After he came to look at our property and discuss the engineering side of the project with my husband, I was thrilled to place an order. The tub was ready when promised, but we hadn't finished the paved pad and retaining wall for the spa's grotto. Brandon Fein cordially offered to keep the Prodigy at the warehouse for as long as we needed. When the delivery day finally came on January 31, 2018, I was stunned to see Omar and his assistant unload the spa and safely move it into our backyard by dragging a large sled across a pathway of cardboard to avoid scratching our new paving stones. They safely got the tub up onto its pad and had everything ready for the wiring by the time they left. Later that night we enjoyed our first soak and it's been our nightly ritual since. Our hot tub functions beautifully and we are confident that it will be a cherished part of our family for many years. Scott Campbell at Creative Energy in San Mateo was amazing! Such a great sales person and was so patient, responsive, and answered all of our questions while we were looking for a hot tub. From the initial visit, to the follow up visits and emails, he was always patient, offered great advice, and answered all of our questions. He showed me around the nice showroom and showed us the different models and options and I was even able to take a soak in one of hot tubs there in the showroom. He even had a 'site visit' to discuss the location of the hot tub, and to check to make sure there would be no issues with the delivery, install, wiring, etc. He was responsive with email and phone calls, and kept us up to date with the timing, what to expect for the install, and he also showed up after the hot tub was installed and set up to walk me through the care and maintenance of the hot tub, and to answer any other questions. Shop elsewhere. From my spa maintenance savior: So I spoke to the folks at xxxxx in SoCal and they were surprised to hear you have had so many problems with the spa controls. They looked up your spa by serial number and were also surprised to find that Creative Energy has NEVER submitted your spa for ANY warranty claim with the manufacturer (Hot Springs). Based on the continued problems they think that Creative Energy never replaced your controls with new approved parts. They think it's more likely they replaced those controls with used ones pulled from other jobs. It makes no other sense, as they would have to order replacements and pay for them unless they shipped back the defective ones for credit. According to my dealer in SoCal, Hot Springs had a known issue with 2014 and earlier models that used the remote (NXT) and replaced the original remote AND cradle with a newer reliable version. If they did in fact replace the cradle and remote with the newer version you should NOT have had any issues with it. You ARE still under warranty and if you want to pursue replacing the controls with the newer version, I can see if they can possibly help, rather than deal with Creative Energy. The only issue will likely be the labor. I will see if the SoCal dealer can provide the parts under warranty. Sadly ordered expensive new cover and they won't even come out to install replacement pump rods properly. read more

Creative energy is the reason that I sign up for Yelp. It is my first ever review!!! I want the business owner to hear my concerns. In the beginning of March I came to the store to purchase the top for our spa. The sales person found our information in the computer, explained to me which top do we need and how much it will cost us. Next day we paid the full amount and set up the approximate date ( in a month or so)! In the end of April they gave me the random date ( which was very inconvenient for us) for the delivery and the set up. In the middle of that day I got a phone call from the installer: Hey do you mind if your spa will open on the different side? Ha? What? Ok I guess so! I wasn't even sure what he was asking me. When I came home I was in SHOCK!!! It's even looked funny ! The cover was opening on the different side then before , and the lifting mechanism was totally blocking the whole top to even open. Plus they some how put the top differently, so its even look smaller then the actual spa. I decided to took a picture of this rediculesnes and show them in person. First thing that the manager in the store told me, without even saying hi, that he only have 5 minutes because store is closing and he needs to be somewhere else. I showed him my pictures, he said that he will take care of this and he will call me tomorrow! Thanks!! It only took him 30 sec :) Next day.... Nothing. Day after in the morning I called the store. John the manager explained to me that he is sorry that he didn't call me right away, but basically this is the right top for my spa, because they discontinued my old one! So now I'm stock with the spa and the top that I can't open? John said that he will ask the owner of the company, who's name is also John to call me, and maybe he will figure it out. FIVE DAYS after I received a call from the other John, who said that he will try to find the solution for me and will call me tomorrow. EIGHT DAYS AFTER I called the store, they transfer me to the main office, I left the message, and YES, they finally called me back. John said that he found the solution and now I need to call the other office, ask for the Valerie, because she has the solution for me. Valerie gave me the date ( VERY inconvenient for me) for installers to come and change the lifting mechanism. I asked for another date, but she was pretty strict with me , and sounded like she was making me a favor. And only then ( after a whole month of this shenanigans) I couldn't take it anymore, I lost it! First I said thank you for finding the solution for me, but I would love for you to know that I have the most redicoulos experience at this shop EVER!!! She accused me of making the wrong order from the beginning, which is not true, because they told me what to order and I did. And then she said the most bizarre thing ever. She said " mam sorry that you feel that way"!!!! No apologies at all! I FEEL THAT WAY???? Seriously? YOU make me feel that way!!!! The way how YOU handled the mistakes makes me feel that way! Arghhh.... So today is June 12, I came home and they finally fixed the top!!!! Yay!!! Sorry for my long and probably not correct language review, but I want you to know that I had THE MOST AWFUL EXPERIENCE EVER! And its the way I feel, and you make me feel that way!!! Buying a Hot tub is no joke. There are so many factors: Price, efficiency, jets, size, delivery, warranty, etc... I shopped around for a hot tub for about 6 months and visited about half a dozen places. I met John Kasten back in Feb 2014 before finally buying a tub in Dec 2014. I automatically appreciated the fact that John wasn't a pushy salesman. I like that John laid out the facts and didn't attempt to bad mouth the competition. John made a stop by my house, twice, and scoped out the backyard and deck just to offer his advice (before I even decided to buy a tub from him just to be helpful). Before buying a tub I recommend trying the tub at the dealer and seeing if you like the jets, the size, seating position, etc... I ended up buying the Jetsetter NXT. Since buying the tub John has always been available for questions and ready to help. Since buying the tub, John has checked in with me via call, text or email about half dozen times, to make sure the tub is running well and to see if I have any questions. I gotta admit.. I am truly impressed! I thought after buying a tub, I will be forgotten about. John definitely cares and bends over backwards to make sure his customers are receiving the best service and are enjoying the product they purchased. I am super glad I bought my tub from this location. Buying a tub isn't cheap, but oh so worth it! I've used my tub almost every single day since Dec. Make sure you take your time shopping around, ask a lot of questions and don't go cheap on the tub. It's not worth it. It's something you're going to have a very long time, so do it right the first time. We have wanted a hot tub for as long as I can remember. We knew we couldn't afford a new one, but would look for a refurbished one.We finally started putting our feelers out. We stopped by the Creative Energy showroom in San Mateo. John greeted us and let us look around. They did not have any used ones that were right for us. We let John know that we could not afford anything in their showroom. His attitude did not change. He treated us like we were going to buy a 12,000 tub! He followed through a few days later to let us know he was keeping his eyes out for a used one for us. We ended up finding one, on Craigslist. We told John, so he wouldn't keep looking for us. He emailed us the owner's manual, for the used Vanguard tub we bought, not even from them! That is amazing service. We will buy all of our chemical's from them , and when we need to update our tub, we will definitely get it through them. They are top notch. read more

We just had an outstanding spa cleaning service with Wilber, the Creative Energy technician that services our spa... On this visit, in particular, Wilber was watchful for our dog. He saw our energetic puppy and moved our spa stairs away from our spa about 5', so our dog would not jump into the spa. However, it turned out our dog had a lot of energy that day and got a running start, used long jump form, and leapt into the pool on his watch. He didn't hesitate to go into the spa to get our dog out. That was a very unselfish act, as I'm sure he didn't intend to be wet for the rest of his spa cleanings that day. The good: * Love the hot tub--they really are about the best you can buy. * Think the sales folks are really nice and personable * The in-store folks have been really helpful with follow-up and advice. The bad: * They have fixed territories so they keep their prices artificially high. You can only buy a hotsprings spa from THIS showroom if you live on the peninsula or SF. You can't shop around based on price. Imagine how much Toyota could get for a Priius if they only let you go to ONE dealer. The ugly: * Their service department could use an overhaul: no return phone calls, no responses to email, limited understanding of needs by the folks who do answer the call. * Service fee's on warranty calls (they really tout the 7 year "hassle free" warranty in the sales pitch). read more

We got our Hotspring hot tub here, after shopping around at a couple places in San Mateo. They had a nice selection, they even have a room with 2 tubs up and running so you can "try" one if you want! We wanted a smaller tub and they had a nice selection of those too. We went there a couple times before we decided on one and were never given the Hard Sell. My only complaint would be that sometimes they get a bit crowded in there and you have to wait a bit for a salesperson. But they are nice and we're glad we went with them. We still get our chemicals there; once or twice a year they have those on sale and they'll send you a postcard. We LOVE our hot tub! read more
