Peninsula Pool & Spa have helped me several times. This post/review is long overdue. My apologies to everyone. These guys are fantastic (father & son)! When I have called Peninsula Pool & Spa in the past for help with issues with my pool/pool system (pumps, heater, etc.) they have always responded to request quickly. They have a professional yet personable way about themselves which makes talking to and working with them a positive experience. I will hopefully be able to reach them in the future. I will go to them first as long as they're in business. And, I would highly recommend them to anyone who asks. They've helped me with four (4) issues specifically: 1. HEATER: My pool heater wasn't working properly - they inspected and provided feedback/recommendation on next steps (they came onsite for this) 2. CONNECTING HOSE: A hose from my pool pump and cleaner pump needed to be replaced - they asked for pics then guided me through the process of buying and installing the parts myself 3. PVC PIPE REPLACEMENT: The same hose was connected to an elbow joint that cracked - again, they explained exactly how to remove the elbow joint, add contact cement, and install a new elbow joint - step by step over the phone and via text message 4. PUMP: My pool pump wouldn't start - they explained that I needed to prime it with water - easy fix (they came onsite for this) I've listed 4 issues they've helped me with and 2 of 4 they helped at no cost without even coming onsite. This is a business I want to maintain a relationship with. OUTSTANDING! I would give them more stars if I could. read more

Highly Recommend - TC Saved the Day! Today (Saturday) I checked my swim spa chemicals and discovered the water level had dropped by about a third. I immediately started calling the Bay Area spa companies that Grok recommended. Only TC picked up the phone. He calmly walked me through troubleshooting over the phone, helped me identify the issue, and guided me step-by-step until we stopped the leak. I was honestly shocked and so grateful that he took the time to help me on a weekend without even being on-site yet. I can't thank him enough. This level of genuine customer service is rare. From now on, TC and his company will be my only call for any swim spa service. read more

I had a couple of not so great pool service from other providers based in Burlingame and came across Peninsula pools. TC and his son were great at addressing our pool problems. Peninsula Pool Spa has always provided excellent service and support to us over the years. TC's expertise and problem solving skills are beyond impressive. He was able to snorkel down to our 9ft deep end and replace a faulty drain cover when no other company would take the job. Pump sourcing and replacing was done professionally and with short notice. Troubleshooting tips over the phone have avoided on-site visits and are greatly appreciated. PP&S is an excellent example of a customer focused family business providing a valued service. I cannot recommend TC highly enough, and my experience is perhaps the best testament to their integrity and expertise. I called Peninsula Pool & Spa because I suspected a leak in my pool. The owner, TC, took my call and spent a significant amount of time and energy explaining the nuances of leak detection, common issues, and the step-by-step process to rule other issues out. He had me run a series of simple tests, and send him pictures to review, to save my wallet! TC went wayyyyyyy above and beyond, helping me systematically rule out other potential causes, and finally we determined there was a very small leak, but enough to cause me problems. He could have easily booked a service call, charged me the fee, and potentially upsold me on a repair, but instead, he gave me the knowledge I needed to resolve the issue without wasting my money. This level of honesty and professionalism is incredibly rare. If you are dealing with a pool leak and want someone who is knowledgeable, transparent, and genuinely puts the customer's best interest first, look no further. While I didn't need their tools, I absolutely benefited from their world-class advice and moral compass. They have earned a customer for life if a real issue ever comes up. Thank you! read more

As first time pool owners we have really appreciated the excellent customer service from TC, Tyler and Carlos. After an initial chat on phone TC came over to look at our pool and gave me a run down on how things operate and what to look out for. We signed up for the weekly pool service and Carlos has been great coming every week and keeping everything on track with the pool and helping me with my various questions. After a couple of months we decided to upgrade the pump and replace the old filter which TC helped sort out and Tyler fitted for us and took out and old gas heater we weren't using. Everything is working well and highly recommend. read more

Peninsula pool has been servicing my pool for past three years like clock work. Before that, I had three pool service company in less than two years. My pool pump died just a couple of weeks ago and Tyler Smith and his dad TC Smith worked hard to get the pump replaced. Their service cost has been very competitive and offer the great value for the price I pay on monthly basis. Overall, I highly recommend this pool service company to anyone who is looking for a value service. read more

TC has been handling my pool for 1.5 years now. From the start, he has always been responsive, communicated well and takes care of any urgent needs. He's helped with pool equipment, set up a cover and more, all at very reasonable prices. One time the pool was turning slightly green and he had someone come over the same day with chlorine. It's been crystal clear ever since, and TC has mentioned is MUST always be like. Martin handles the weekly maintenance, and is always friendly and thorough, always patient in explaining what's going on and how I can help take care of the pool. They've done a great job for us and I would highly recommend to anyone! read more

Martin and TC are truly the best - on all levels! Had a somewhat urgent spa situation that we needed help with. TC was very responsive l and super helpful with taking the time to explain the situation and solution. Then he got us on the schedule with a very busy/booked out Martin. Martin reached out and came over as soon as he freed up (it was a very long day for him - he finished up with us at 8:30pm!). He took the time to explain and even educate us on our spa - priceless! Admittedly TC warned us from the first phone call that he was extremely busy but would do his best to work us into the schedule and from there we all worked together to make it happen. This is what you have to do when you find a great company who is always booked solid - be patient, flexible, professional and keep the lines of communication open. Easy to do with a company like this - TC was awesome! Martin was obviously knowledgeable and one of the hardest, most dedicated professionals ever! Thank you Martin and TC! read more

These guys are truly superb. Our two pool pumps (running our hot tub) both stopped working. Both were only one year old. After a cursory examination, the company that provides us with weekly maintenance of our hot tub told us they needed to be replaced and quoted a cost of more than $3K per pump. I contacted a few companies to get a second opinion, but most of them either wouldn't help or didn't respond. Peninsula Pool & Spa responded to my enquiry immediately and from that point onwards I was in expert hands. TC contacted the manufacturer on my behalf and successfully made the case to them that the pumps should not have failed and should be replaced under warranty. This took quite a bit of work on TC's part. I doubt there are many other companies out there that would have put in this kind of effort for a new client. An even smaller number of such companies would have been successful in arranging a warranty replacement. Ultimately, Tyler showed up with two new pumps and quickly got them installed and functional. The pumps remain fully functional two months on. TC didn't have to go to bat for me the way he did. He saved me thousands of dollars. He updated me frequently about what he was doing. I don't think I have ever experienced this level of effective customer service and support anywhere else. I highly recommend Peninsula Pool & Spa. I found them to be trustworthy, responsive, knowledgeable, and technically highly proficient. read more

We have had Peninsula Pool and Spa servicing our saltwater pool for over 5 years, I love that they are a local business and have great attention to detail! Tyler and Cory have been really helpful and know what they are talking about, able to answer any questions about the pool, pipes, solar etc. My pool looks better every summer, and through the winter they take just as good care of it even though we aren't using it. Definitely recommend them as honest, reliable and very client oriented. read more

TC, the owner of Peninsula Pool & Spa is one of the most knowledgeable pool experts I came across. However, before I go into what makes TC absolutely amazing, you need to know this about me: I'm top #1 MBA school, I love pools and know many things about them. For example, I can reassemble Polaris 360, I was able to balance my pool for many years without any outside help, I can also rebuild Hayward pump and its motor. So, when I say TC deserves our love I truly mean it. First, TC asked for no money to asses the situation with my pool. Second, he drove to my house for free to get more data at 7am. Third, he was right about the next steps and I'm glad that I followed his free advice. TC was non-pushy, genuine, and authentic. Most importantly, he was an expert in the pool service and equipment. Please please give him a call before you engage with any other "so-called pool experts". I promise you'll not regret it. read more

Cory and Tyler are the Best! They are honest, hard workers who run a great business. You will get fair pricing and they can handle anything. finding any type of service here on the Coastside is a challenge. spa maintenance was a dead end until I found Peninsula Pool and Spa. Tim (TC) not only knows his stuff (40 years or so!), but is more than willing to help, at a reasonable price (one spa person who would not come over the hill said Peninsula's rate to clean our spa was $50 less than theirs). Tim succinctly diagnosed our issue over the phone (old water, no longer responding to chemicals added), told us to immediately drain the spa, helped us figure out how to find filter for this antique spa we have and had Martin out within days to clean and restore. martin had to figure out how to separate the skimmer from the filter without breaking it (which I surely would have done!) and left the spa up and running, with right settings, and even put the old filter and boxes in trash and recycle bins and rolled up the hose! professional, personable and polished from initial call to final cleanup after job well done. it is such a pleasure to find folks like this that actually care about the quality of their work these days. read more

This review has been a long time coming. I first contacted owner TC after a horrible experience with another company. TC was very responsive and began servicing my pool immediately. The biggest positive for me is that TC is a licensed contractor with years of experience. He's well-versed in industry standards and practices and always has a solution for any issues that arise. Not too long after, his son Cory took over the primary care of my pool and has been equally responsive and great. Wonderful customer service. read more

Peninsula Pool & Spa delivers high quality work with expertise and honesty that is rare to find in this industry. We have been a client for over 18 months and are extremely appreciative of the work that TC, his son's Tyler & Cory, and their whole team have done to get our 30-year old pool running beautifully. We inherited a pool and spa that was in disrepair, losing water and unusable when we moved in. TC did a diagnostic and confirmed that the issue was not a leak (as a competitor had reported), but rather a deteriorating pool cover. He saved us money that would have been misspent on leak detection. In addition, the heater and pump we inherited were ancient and didn't work, and TC did an excellent job replacing them with affordable, efficient equipment, and he also installed a new heater line so that we could heat the pool to our desired temperature. As a veteran in the industry and a general contractor, TC expertly did the work himself to get the pool up and running. Then Martin and his team came in to clean and do the chemicals. The pool is immaculate thanks to Roberto who has been servicing our pool weekly for over a year. He consistently comes at the same time each week and keeps careful notes of the water quality -- even throughout the winter months Roberto ensures the pool is sparkling clean. We swim in our pool throughout 7 months of the year and enjoy the perfectly heated water temperature, how clear it is, and the chemicals are balanced just right -- not overpowering. Over the past four months, Tyler has helped out with installing new LED lights in the pool and trouble-shooting our hot tub. He's been very responsible and easy to communicate with. Like his dad, he's committed to delivering high quality service and has stopped by numerous weekends to get the jobs done. It's clear that Peninsula Pool & Spa is in high demand as it's rare to find someone with both pool expertise and a licensed general contractor. It's worth the wait to have this team diagnose and solve your pool issues, as they will save you money in the long run due to their deep expertise and relationships with third party suppliers. We are so glad we were able to get in their queue for multiple projects as it's totally been worth it to have Peninsula Pool & Spa revive and manage our pool and spa! read more

We started working with Peninsula Pool & Spa a year ago and I've been beyond pleased with their work. Reliable, responsive, helpful and less expensive than our previous pool provider. I chose Peninsula pool and spa because of their great Yelp reviews. After working with TC, I can tell you that they are accurate. My 20-year-old in ground spa was losing water. My spa stopped working a few days before my out-of-town family was due to arrive. I contacted Peninsula Pool & Spa for help on a friend's recommendation. T.C., the owner, understood the urgency and came out early the next day to assess the issue. The spa was fixed by the next day!!! I was happy to have a working spa for my family to enjoy. After this fantastic experience, I hired Peninsula Pool & Spa for my routine spa services. The owner always responds to me directly to answer my questions no matter the time of day. TC Smith is knowledge +++ on all things spa & jacuzzi. From quick tips over the phone to quick response repairs.

We inherited our former pool service with our house ~six years ago. Bottom line, they were overcharging us, suggesting replacements for parts we did NOT need at double the retail cost + a multiple hour installation fee for something that takes 10 minutes according to the many reviews I saw online, and certainly they were purchasing it direct from the manufacturer at a price below 'retail' When I asked a simple question about the replacement quote,, the office manager (at our former pool service company) went nuts on me via email, addressing things that made no sense and had absolutely nothing to do with the issue at hand. Fired them immediately. I asked around our neighborhood if people liked their pool service provider, and no one had much to say about their service. Unfortunately, I think the word is not out on the street about Peninsula Pool & Spa, so here is my yelp review to educate everyone! From the moment I spoke with TC (the owner) on the phone, who is personable and transparent about pricing and service, to his son Cory coming out for the first time to take a look at our pool (and BEFORE I HIRED THEM fixed the issue in one minute that our former pool service company said would take two hours and a totally new part), to their consistent quality service each week and competitive pricing, I am so relieved to have peninsula Pool & Spa as our pool service provider. I find their pricing to be spot-on for the high quality service they provide. I think I am paying about $10 more per month than I was paying our former pool service provider, and they were straight up awful and dishonest. Peninsula Pool & Spa is a family run business, the owner is a licensed contractor, and they are honest, do not upsell you on parts you don't need, and get the job done, nor charge me based on zip code bias. Cory does an excellent job servicing our pool each week! Thank you, Peninsula Pool & Spa!! read more

"Call me if you have any problems." I did and TJ responded. My Pentair pool controller was driving me crazy. It was constantly on the fritz. TJ would talk me through the fix but then something else would go wrong. It was time for a new one. After careful review TJ recommended a new Jandy TCX controller. One that I could operate from my phone no matter where I am, and I do. He and his son Tyler did the install. Tyler is every bit of an expert as his father. And his people skills match his dad. TJ found the perfect controller for my pool. He did not oversell me and saved me hundreds of dollars. What I appreciate most about TJ and Tyler is their integrity, honesty and responsiveness. When you call they respond. I can't tell you how happy I am. Thank you, TJ and Tyler! read more

PP&S has been providing service to my pool at my apartment complex for several years now. Being the owner of an apartment complex I'm always dealing with various contractors and service providers, and it can sometimes be challenging to find someone or a company that is reliable, honest, and provides quality work. But PP&S encompasses all of these things. TC (Tim), the owner of PP&S, has always been responsive to my messages and/or phone calls when I have a question or concern, which is not often because he takes very good care of everything. He is extremely knowledgeable, not only about pools, but a great many other things. His employees are responsible and reliable. Cory to the pool rescue! Cory has been taking great care of our pool and spa for over a year. The water stays pristine, and crystal clear. Plus he uses just the right amount chemicals so it's effective but doesn't have that chlorine stink that sticks to your skin. Then we had a pool emergency- we power-washed our deck and TONS of dirt got into the pool. My daughters's bday pool-party was scheduled for later in the week. Cory came on a Sunday to vacuum up the grossness and make sure everything was pool party ready. Can't recommend Penninsula Pool & Spa enough!!! Thanks for saving the day (on your day off), and always keeping our water perfect! read more

So I have been trying to do all my maintenance on my pool myself and when I went to start warming the pool up for the summer, I found my heater was not working. I called TC and explained my problem to him and he said that he would order me a heater, but suggested that I swap out filter cartridges as that might solve the problem. TC got me a discount on the cartridges and I got them installed. Lo and behold, his fix solved my issue and I now have a crystal clear, 80 degree pool and a couple of happy kids splashing around. TC saved me at least $4000, did not try to up-sell me (in fact did the opposite), dropped by to see the problem himself, and did not charge me for any of his time or advice. And he refused to let me pay any restocking fees for the heater that he ordered for me, and saved me a ton of dough on the stuff I needed to fix the system myself. I can endorse this company wholeheartedly and with no reservations. This is a company that can be trusted 100% and you can be assured that they will do the right thing for their customers. Look no further-- this is the company you want to work with to solve any issues with your pool. Nice people you can count on and not worry about being taken advantage of. I'm going to have them work on my solar panels, tile and coping next. A++++++++++++ read more

Martin is awesome. As is TC, the owner. Very responsive and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

We just built a fancy new pool and hot tub and hired TC to manage start up and monthly maintenance. Here are just some of the things I love about his service: 1. He's responsive. I text and I get a well-formed answer back quickly. Several times, he dropped by in person to take a look. 2. He knows his stuff. We asked all sorts of questions and TC always had great answers. 3. He's forthright. If he doesn't like the way something looks or is running, he'll let me know. And, he truly scrutinizes things. He's so on top of things that we know our pool is in good hands. 4. Our pool is running smoothly. Deck jets, hot tub bubblers, the works -- everything works just the way we had hoped. This is the guy you want to start up and maintain your pool. Totally pleased with our decision to hire him. read more
