Something really impressed me about the team at Leslie's Pool Supplies in Downey. I accidentally bought 50 lbs of pool chlorine when I actually meant to buy pool conditioner. I called the next day, explained the situation, and asked if it was possible to return it. The employee told me he needed to check with the manager and would call me back. Honestly, I thought they would probably say no and that I would just be stuck with 50 pounds of chlorine that I didn't really need since my pool is a saltwater pool. About 10 minutes later, they called me back and told me that while they couldn't take the product back, they were happy to give me store credit for the full amount for future use--and I could still keep the product. That level of customer service really impressed me. It shows they truly care about their customers and want to build long-term relationships. Great job, Leslie's team in Downey. I called the company for a bid of pool filter and pump. The technician Alexander from Leslie's in Pico Rivera came was very polite and gave us a bid of approximately 3k. He said he would call us in a couple of weeks. It's now one month later we haven't heard a word. I called customer service and still no return call 3 days later. I went into this store on a Saturday around 11 am and it was very packed. I was waiting in line for about 20 minutes and wasn't acknowledged by the employee. It seemed he was the only one and was more concentrated on the water testing area. I finally got my answers from just chatting with a few individuals online. They should have more people working at peak times and if anything the employees should acknowledge or greet customers especially ones that have been waiting patiently for awhile. I have never had such a AMAZING experience with customer service as I had with (Sharon) she is the assistant manager at Leslie's Pool store in Whittier Ca OMG, her knowledge on every topic we covered is outstanding she should be promoted to store manager as soon as possible she had a the qualities of a Manager or supervisor, she was polite, sophisticated, knowledgeable, bubbly, happy, and she really seemed to care about my concerns. I had a pleasant experience with this location in Pico Rivera. I recently purchased an above ground pool from Costco. 6000 gallon pool. The young gentleman helping me out was very knowledgeable and helpful. He helped choose the sand for my filter and chemicals to get me started. He even helped carry my supplies to the car. Used to have great customer service. Now is really bad. When I asked for any specials or deals the guy at the counter was dry and not willing to help. He seem upset we were there 20 min before closing, even looked at his wrist for the time (though he forgot his watch at home). On top of that when his female coworker attempted to help (seemed ashamed at his attitude) he corrected her in a rude manner. To make things worst he was wearing his mask with his nose out! I called for an appointment and they scheduled me for a Saturday between 12 PM and 5 PM. I made arrangements to stay and wait until for the technician to arrive. At 4:45, I called to check in with them and the lady on the phone told me that she contacted the scheduled technician and that he would call me, but that call never came. The lack of professionalism from this business it staggering. I'm never doing business with them again. I just left the store outraged. Allan the assistant manager clearly has issues and is incompetent to handle customers. I was in a rush and explained to him I had been waiting 45min. And I had an emergency at home. " Well maam so does everybody else." Really?? Needless to say I was offended by his remark and things got a lot worse from there. May I add that he referred several clients to go on the internet to buy large price ticket items cheaper than Leslies. Wow. Not even loyal to his company. Just serving his "Asst. Since I needed one in a hurry and Leslie's was the closest store I walked in and expected to pay $5-$7 for the cartridge but when they said $13.99+tax I felt like I was being held up! My partner and I recently moved and are new to owning a pool, and we happened to find this store using Yelp. We were discouraged by the previous reviews but took a chance anyway since the company name/chain is pretty well known. To our surprise, we were helped readily and had all of our many questions answered. Wally was very helpful and honest, and we didn't feel like he was pressuring us to buy unnecessary items or supplies. On top of that, we mentioned that part of the reason why we ended up here was not only because of vicinity to where we now live, but because we were quite disappointed with the pool guy and also the leak guy who came out earlier that day, so we were going to do some DIY repairs on the pool. Wally suggested a pool guy who was reliable, friendly, and knowledgeable (which our previous guy wasn't) and had great reviews from many of his customers. Wally made a quick call, and we were able to schedule a visit and quote that same afternoon. And the new pool guy is fantastic! We hired him on the spot and look forward to having him take care of our pool for years to come! Very happy all around with the service, advice, and references we received! read more

Also, (Noted to some reviewers after reading some) they dont have a big staff, but also understand each customer takes up time with so many questions. Today I had the worst experience with two employees from Leslie's in pico Rivera .To top it off they are a manager and an assistant manager ,Brian and Udell , I have shopped at Leslie's since we built our pool which was over 15 years ago . There service have been declining through time , but today was the final straw I will not shop there again . I recommend other customers to shop around . Leslie's Pool Supply in Pico Rivera, was so helpful with my pool pump which was leaking. I pulled the rubber seals off and show them to Sharon she suggested it probably the shaft seal, but I didn't want to get that far into the pump. After 2 tries with new rubber seals it's still leaked. So I so I knew now the Sharon was right it was the shaft seal! When she look in the inventory for the shaft seal there was none and the closest one was and Ontario. So she checked the back avare inventory and found the shaft seal. She went through a lot of trouble trying to help me out. And Sharon was great she really helped me out!! Today was the third time in about a year that i walked out without buying anything. The problem is that they have two to three employees working and everybody is tied up looking up parts or chit chatting over non related business. After waiting for about fifteen minutes to pay for the expensive chemicals I needed, I cut my losses and went to another pool supply about ten minutes away. There, I was in and out within 5 minutes. Unfortunately for me, Leslie's is two minutes from home but it's much faster to travel 4 more miles just to save time. I'm done with this place!!! read more

No a bad thing to say about this place. Perhaps because i know what I need an I am not holding up the Line asking questions. The guys that help me out was great, he was knowledgeable, asking me questions about the pump an what I'm using gasket lube for. Little did he know I been working my house pool pump since I was the age of ten. So I think I know what I'm doing. Other customers were in the store so lost asking advice on how to maintain their pool, they must have just gotten one, in my head, I was like it's not that hard, just take patient to getting to know how your pump sucks and practice to build you guns stroke technique. Worst customer service i have ever encountered at a Leslie's store. Don't try going in a half hour before they close because the closer (lisa) will give you attitude and make you feel rushed because she's almost closing. She will also throw in how she needs to close and go home to see her son. And as a mother i completely understand the feeling, but it's not something you tell a customer or make them feel they are a bother to you. Wally is very knowledgeable & spends as much time with you making sure you leave with all the information you need & gives you different options.
