One of the staff members was not very helpful and in fact, condescending. I explained that I have a small, above ground pool, and that I was not very knowledgeable about maintaining PH balance and such, however, I know that alkalinity is high. The response was "yeah, you need acid," then there was silence. No explanation. So do I just go to shelf and buy "acid??" Come on man. I'm there for help...a little guidance would be nice. So then I'm told what acid I need and they go straight to the largest bag of acid they have. I say wait, do I need that much for the pool size I just gave you? The response was "I don't think we carry a smaller size." I said, "could you check for a smaller bag?" Low and behold, there was a smaller bag for half the price. This is why people choose Amazon. To be fair, I wouldn't have known which acid to buy if it wasn't for the sales person, but he made the experience so odious, that I'll never go back. I'll never understand how a business doesn't recognize that customer service is the core of YOUR "business." read more

The place is pricey. No doubt about that. If you didn't know owning a pool is pricey then Leslie's will definitely prove that true! But, the people know their pools and water. I brought my water which isn't chlorinating right in. Nothing more frustrating than spending time and energy only to end up with algae in your pool. I took my water here and the sale person did a water test. Recommended I drain the pool and directed me how. First time in establishment, my husband and I are new pool owners. My husband had gone in on Friday and was met with great customer service. He was told We could Get a free analysis of our water. We returned today on Sunday and was greeted with the most RUDE and Obnoxious customer service person. Spoke to us rudely , dismissive and in NO way helpful. I've been a customer here for 15 years since we bought our first house with a pool. I'm sure I've spent thousands of dollars here over the years and recommended them to family and friends. We cover our pool to keep it warm, and even though their covers have a 5 year warranty, they actually deteriorate to the point they're crumbling apart after 12-18 months. However, due to the warranty, I've kept buying their product repeatedly over the years. The first time I came in to redeem it, the manager told me the warranties were prorated, so if you'd had it for 2 years you paid 2/5 full price for a new one. Okay, fair enough. A few years later he let me know I'd "used up" my warranty, meaning they'll only credit you up to the amount of the amount you paid for your item. So let's say you bring it back in on the warranty annually for 5 years and pay 1/5 of the purchase price each time, then that's it, no more warranty, you have to pay the full purchase price. Well, okay, I guess that kind of makes sense. Fine, but it would have been nice if you told me that when I bought it. Today I went in and the same manager I'd dealt with for years and years told me my warranty was over. I said what? I'm pretty sure I paid full price for one of these a year or so ago. Nope, sorry, our records show your last purchase was in 2017. What? I think I've probably bought 3 of these since then! Sorry - that's what our records show. Here take a look for yourself. If you'd don't have the receipt, I can't help you. I said, look, I can buy this cheaper on Amazon and have it delivered to my door. I have to say that an employee by the name of Giovanni is one of the nicest, most polite, helpful and hard working I have witnessed in a business in a very long time. This young man is amazing, hard working and a real asset to that location. I went to the La Cresenta location one time and the young man was on his phone texting the whole time he was trying to answer my questions, no job application there! If I could give zero stars I would. My husband and I and 3 small kids walked in to get supplies. The young lady working there asked if the kids had masks, they are 7,5 and 2. I said they don't and they have health issues so they can't wear it. She literally told us to go outside and if we want she can help us outside, but she was so rude and and filled with attitude. We left and sat in the car and my kids cried their eyes out bc they wanted to pick out pool toys and goggles. GREAT JOB lady, children with breathing issues are not required to wear masks and I hope you can do some research regarding the law before you get fired. Also I've been to every big box store and grocery stores and nobody had kicked my kids out for not having masks on. Another note, it was 20min before closing time and we were the only ones in there. Hello fellow Swimmers, This past Sunday, went over to this store to get a new screw-nut for a Hayward pool filter's bolt thread. The spring coil around the old nut was stuck and the manager Giovanni helped pry it loose with his tools which I was unable to do at home with a mallet and screw driver. Also, his advice about our pool filter thread issue (telling me it may need to be re-threaded by a local machinist but ended up we just needed it to be cleaned as it became a bit corroded over time) helped resolve it. sincerely, SCheng read more

I would give negative stars if I could. Do not bother visiting this Leslie's Pool location in Pasadena. I have visited twice and had a young woman as well as a young man wait on me. Neither were helpful. Neither seemed interested in giving any quality customer service. I was the only customer in the store both times. Leslie's get your Pasadena store sorted! Instead visit the Alhambra store. There are very friendly, knowledgeable sales people. I will drive the extra distance always to avoid the Pasadena location. read more

Disappointed again by Pasadena Leslie's pool supply. I have been multiple times for my summer above-ground pool needs. Last summer I ended up driving to La Cañada all summer after dealing with a couple rude salespeople. This year we upgraded to a much larger above ground summer pool. I also did a bunch of online research and upgraded to a better sand filter and added a saltwater system. I went to Leslie's a couple of weeks ago to buy my salt and a float, a lady who was there before helped me. She is fast, and seems a tad brisk, but mostly to get to the next customer. She was helpful and professional. Because of her I came back today. Today, a very tall man with glasses greeted us nicely and ran a water check for me. (My pool levels are off and I'm not sure how to adjust it for saltwater.) He was lovely and helpful. When I asked him about pool vacuums, because I intended to buy one today, he deferred to another guy working there, (shortish guy with dark-short hair and fair skin, looks like he drinks too much Red Bull). This guy tells me in a rush that the vacuum I'm considering won't work for me. I explain the research I've done and ask for an alternate suggestion. He tells me nothing works for my type of pool and a vacuum won't help with fine sediment anyway because my filter "is crap". I explained that I don't use the crap-filter that comes with these pools- but had upgraded to a decent sand-filter (w/ good reviews that this store was selling just 3 weeks ago BTW). HE then tells me those filters are crap too. Wow. Ok. -I disagree politely and then ask if there's nothing that can be done for my pool-bottom then? He says no. I suggest I maybe buy the vacuum the pool company makes and sells. He says no that won't work either. He tells me to call the manufacturer (who I am pretty sure would try and sell me their own vacuum). So... yeah. Too bad one rude apple has to spoil the whole bunch. I'll be heading to La Cañada again soon. and really am just grateful for Amazon. read more

I have been looking for help with my above ground pool for over two weeks on yelp and google but NO ONE services these kinds of pools so I decided to try it out myself. The staff at Leslie's were so helpful they had me set up within minutes. I left the store with a 4 step easy peasy plan for chemical balancing and maintenance. Super easy once I got home and set everything up. Oh, and I got a $15 discount for shopping there. Leslie's just lost a loyal customer... I'd been shopping here since my pool was built in 2011, buying all of my Pentair equipment, a half dozen pool cleaning robots, and overpaying for an ocean of chemicals, toys, and sundry crap over the years. Hell, I once paid $50 for a novelty float that sells for $29.95 literally everywhere else on the planet. I'd justify this by telling myself that the service was better here than at cheaper online retailers. Lol. Not anymore it isn't. Things started going downhill two years ago when the manager misdiagnosed an issue with my pool robot, Ricky Bobby, did a totally unnecessary repair, and then was a complete dick about it. I'll spare you the details of that nightmare, but I ended up ordering the correct parts online and fixing it myself. Today was the breaking point. Remembering that I was out of R-0001 reagent I made a last minute choice to alter my morning plan and swing by Leslie's on the way back home from the store... it's about a twenty minute drive from my home otherwise and this would spare me another trip. Well I get to the door and see that they open at 10am... and it's 9:15. But then I see that the manager is there at the counter and I thank god have cash with me. I knock on the door. Ignored. I knock again. Still nothing. Then I call the number posted on the door for curbside service. No answer. And I can see him standing right there. After about five minutes I seem to get his attention and he gestures "we're closed." Like I don't already know that. He finally comes over to the locked door and I explain that I just need a bottle of R-0001 and that I have cash. He says the store isn't open. I say, I know that. I have cash. He says the register isn't on. I again explain that I CAN GIVE HIM CASH and it can be rung in after 10. But he has for whatever reason decided that he is unable or unwilling to let me buy this stupid 2oz bottle if liquid -- even though there is entire rack of them that I can see through the glass and after I explained that I was unable to come back after 10. Again, I was perfectly willing to overpay in cash so that I could check my damn chlorine today. Nope. This company and its staff need to understand that without superior customer service there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to shop here. Every single item they sell can be bought cheaper online... including pool equipment, cleaning robots, and R-0001 reagent, which I just bought on Amazon as I was typing this review and will be buying there from now on. I will absolutely not use this Leslie's Pool location! I called to ask a question regarding my Barracuda cleaner diaphragm and was rudely spoken to by a lady named "Saundra." I asked to speak to a manager and she proceeded to tell me that she "is" the manager. I hung up and called a different service called San Andells and they went above and beyond to help me. I was looking for some swimming goggles, and this Leslie's was one of the closest stores which had them. I was able to easily find the available products they sell on their website.. and when I went to the store (a sunday at 12:30pm), the employee there (Gio) was very nice and helped me settle on the best one for me. He didn't try to push the most expensive one, but rather the best one based on what i wanted (seals well against my eyebrows, adjustable, ..) Thanks for the great shopping experience ! read more

I have been going to this location for 10 years and found the current employees to be the best ever. And no, I am not a family member or friend of these employees or the owner of this store. And no - I do not have a pool company cleaning my pool. I do everything! The help you get from Gio is knowledgable and he is so patient. I really like that they keep my past information in the computer for reference. And Gio remembers who I am when I come in - - even without the computer. Lesile Pool is expensive. That is the only reason I didn't get 5 stars. I will keep going to this store because Gio and the other people behind the counter are fabulous. read more

This is my local Leslie's, and they have fantastic customer service! I go in periodically to have my spa water checked, and they always have a great attitude, helpful information, and most of all are patient. It took me awhile to figure out how to maintain my spa and I would go in there more often than necessary. However, every time they saw me they were patient with there explanations and would calm my fears when I thought I messed up. read more

This store used to be okay - but lately they try to rip people off - all the stuff they sell are 50% more expensive than the DIY centers- and when you bring in a coupon they frown and try their best to dishonor it. The manager there is AWFUL, very unhelpful and also untrustworthy. I asked about pool paint and asked him if he would stand behind the product if it came off. He said.. no he wouldn't. So I asked.. then why would you sell it to me? He then turned and said.."then I just won't sell it to you ". I am going to call the paint distributor and tell them what a bad representative they have selling their paint! Everything in this store is over priced. Unfortunately the female employee at the Colorado store in Pasadena has a terrible personality and attitude. In addition, twice she tried to sell me more than I needed which is terrible service and I don't trust her. I just go out of my way to drive to another location. Gio and Manda at this Pasadena location are AMAZING!! I bought an above ground pool this year and was very timid to go in thinking a "real" pool store would laugh at my amateur attempt for my kids when I discovered I would need to treat even this small pool--NOT AT ALL. Manda patiently walked me through chemicals one day==even figuring out how many gallons my pool held etc. Gio has helped me the last three days--to balance the water (who knew an above ground pool would take such an immense amount of tending, not me that's for sure!) Anyways--I am not sure if someone was speaking about an old manager in previous posts==but this location has my biz for life. I am so grateful how much time they have spent with me and all the explaining. Oh and if you want a basic chemistry lesson on pool chemicals--this is a great place to learn.
