They built a travertine patio in the backyard, hardscaped side yards with pavers and rocks, added a mulch bed to my side yard, and rebuilt a retaining wall. The project manager (Amanda) and owner (Giancarlo) were both professional, helpful and available throughout the entire process. They were also able to accommodate additional projects at the last minute, including adding a French drain system to one of the side yards. Everyone involved was committed to making us 100% happy with the end product, whether that meant changing out chipped travertine tiles, recommending different design options, or making several trips to the worksite to plan out project details and ensure everything was 100% up to par. Instead of trying to fix a faulty landscaping job, Giancarlo Medrano, responded with homophobic and profanity laced texts detailing how he would confront me, has a gun and threatened to send "his people" over. He also proceeded to label the house that he worked on (a rental property that I manage) as "cheap" and then goes on to brag about his rental property. He seemed so extremely proud about his financed house. Anyway, I had blocked his phone number after the incident but could see more of his texts through my old Apple ID. In these texts, he went from playing Mister Tough Guy to the victim and claimed that I had been the one who harassed and threatened to kill him and claims to have made police and FBI reports. A complete 180 and a testament to his character. What a quality guy. If you run into any problems with his work, be prepared for a load of excuses and insults. Summary of communications via phone calls and texts: *Half year of receiving the run-around (ie. Too busy, out of town, admin forgot to get back to me, blamed others, etc.) to fix the flowerbeds and add the missing drain holes *After many months passed thinking that Giancarlo was working to schedule in a fix, he started blaming the situation on his cousin. He then suggested that I pay a small amount, to which I found agreeable, for the flowerbeds to be fixed. Now he claims that I wanted a free fix... go figure. *I warned Giancarlo about the consequences for not taking ownership of this situation. Gave plenty of opportunities to fix before posting a review that seemed to upset him. *Giancarlo continues to claim that I own the home despite me explaining over the phone that I wasn't the owner and that I just there to help manage the property. *Giancarlo threaten to sue me. I gave him my lawyer's contact and I have yet to receive any contact attempts. *Giancarlo claims that I would be contacted by the police and FBI. I have yet to receive any contact attempts. In conclusion, I can't say that I would recommend doing business with an egotistical owner who tries to gip you at every corner, changes stories and takes no responsibility. In a mere 6 months AFTER the pool renovation was completed, the pavers gapped, not once but twice. They came out and fixed them, even doing soil injections a second time only for the exact same problem to return. The concrete beam or whatever its called under the coping is cracking and falling apart in two places. I've got several seams of grout in the coping tile that has completely separated b/c their sub contractor did a horrible job with cuts and used grout in almost 1.5inch seams which is absurd. They keep saying they are going to come out, but weeks pass without a single person showing up. Its now been months and I'm exploring my legal options, even if it just means taking them to small claims court. These guys are a construction defect nightmare who use a bunch of cheap mexican labor that doesn't speak english. DO NOT HIRE THEM. Update: They still haven't fixed the horrendous grout work yet they've been telling me for months someone will come out to fix it. Look at the grout size....this is the quality of work everyone. You think this is acceptable? Then they send out some loser who barely speaks english and he does a hand cut on a tile so it looks jagged like a bottle cap. He puts a bunch of sand in without truly fixing the gaps and calls it a day in an hour. The owner of the company, Bob, emails me to say it's all fixed. This company is a blatant joke. I should sue them just to make their life hell since they have made mine hell. Blue Escapes is just one giant construction defect claim waiting to happen. The worst contractor experience I've ever had and I've done full remodels on several properties before. If you hire them, be ready to spend a lot of money for the worst possible workmanship you've seen. You've been warned. Update 2: They sent out another band of incompetent illegals that don't speak english to try and fix the deck, but the joke continues. None of the pavers are level. None of the separation gaps were fixed, and the underlying issues still not addressed. Their incompetence is exhausting. I have officially filed a complaint with the BBB. I will no longer allow them to "repair" anything. I've asked for a 10k refund so I can hire another company to fix the pavers, the coping, and the bond beam which is crumbling. I've also hired an attorney on retention and I'm ready to go to war at this point. This business should not be in business. Of all my years remodeling properties, I've never dealt with this level of stupidity, poor management, and pure incompetence. It would be funny if it wasn't my property. But here we are and I'm beyond livid to the point that I will pour money into the legal side to crush this company. That's how pissed off they have made me and I've given them several opportunities to make things right. They will be lucky to be in business after I'm done with them.
