I was there, recently, the day I had surgery in my palm; still bandaged. Two female workers were sitting and playing on phones. Didn't offer help me get loaded or anything! I have pictures of them, from my vehicle. Wish I could post them. One of them, watched from corner of eye to know when to pick up the buggy. Very disappointed as this has never happened before. Also, bought 2 Holiday cactus, covered in peach blooms which all promptly fell off, in 2 days. I know people that get them shipped and the blooms open correctly. I have a grow light and know how to take care of these type plants. Plants look fine, but very sad about blooms. I'd say your staff overwaters them. Kinda like buying a cutting and not worth it. I wanted some mushroom mulch, but I couldn't load it and they certainly didn't come over when I was looking at it! read more

Everyone walking around the store today was awesome. There was a younger guy who offered help and an older woman who answered my questions, the girls at the front working the counter were more concerned with eachother than acting like they were at work Customer service is extremely important, especially right now. I tried to be as pleasant to them as possible but mostly got attitude back.. Like I was bothering their conversation. Ugh, help these poor girls, cause so far I only see them going as far as bottle service one day. read more

I went here with my family for the first time recently, despite reading some of the negative reviews. I don't know much about horticulture, so I don't feel that it would be fair for me to comment on the quality of the plants. However, I can say that the staff was polite and helpful. We were offered assistance at least twice, and our questions were promptly answered. One of the workers carried a large bag of soil to the register for us, which I thought was super nice. Another worker helped us load the things we bought into our car. We didn't ask for either of these things; they did it on their own volition. I was also impressed with the size of the place. It was so fun walking around and taking everything in! Some things can be super pricey, but there are also things that are reasonably priced and cheaper than I would have expected. Please keep in mind that this is a nursery. This is not Lowe's, Home Depot, or some sort of fly-by-night on the side of the road flower stand. Calloways has an extensive selection of annuals perennials, seeds, pots, trees, Etc. There is an abundance of nature here at this facility. One positive thing about Calloway's is there is always a big selection and the facility is always clean. The staff can be pretty hit-or-miss. There's been times where I've asked a question and I've not had any problem getting assistance. Then there are times when the little ladies behind the counter look at me like they want to scrape me off the bottom of their shoes. Overall they seem to be fairly knowledgeable about the selection in questions can get answered. Be prepared to pay some money when you come here. It can be more expensive than just your big box stores. If you sign up on their email you get weekly specials. I've never had to return a product, but i hear that is like hell. They offer to plant your products for you once you select them. I have no idea how much that is but I can't even imagine it being cost-effective. The rewards program is kind of a joke. You have to spend over 300 bucks to get anything back. The best thing about this place is the selection. read more

We love our Calloway's! Their staff is always so helpful. Also if we have had problems with a plant or tree, they will often refund the amount to our account. During our giant snowstorm we were still able to capitalize on our 30% off coupon. We just ordered online for pick up and waited till after the storm. I've liked Calloway's for years. Like most fans, I've spent $1000's. It used to be if one store didn't have something they called around for you, only 1 of 12 I've driven to offered. I'm disabled and it's difficult for me to drive, let alone create paths through plants to find something. After the first two I tried calling around the metroplex. I was told it's difficult to lookup on the computer because planets with different colors share the same number. The only one that went to look was the McKinney store. Debbie is a rockstar. She personally went and found it. She should be teaching the other stores how to handle customer service. I talked with an assistant manager at one store and he just dismissed me all together. He was too busy sweeping. Should look into: Efficiency items, such as individual SKUs for every item, color, etc. Creating paths around plants on the ground. a 24 inch reach is max. Should be 18" with a tiny walk path. Colors should be sorted. Finally if someone needs a plant, be able to see exact inventory of other stores on the computer. read more

I recently went to Calloways in Mesquite, and I understand young people have to work, however being rude does not make it with me. The Young lady/cashier is majority of the time rude. I simply stated I will park the cart as I am still shopping...she rung my two plants up and I'm like-I was not finished shopping. The young man came out to help me-but it seems at first he did not want to do so. And that is perfectly ok. He stated they are able to work off tips, and that is ok as well. It seems everytime the younger generation is staffed they are short patient and simply hate their jobs. If I ever return it will be in the morning when the lady and gentlemen take time to answer questions instead of getting pissed off with you for asking questions, so forth! read more

Calloway's cost a little more but in the past you received a quality product and good customer service. BUT...Calloway's is in fast decline. The quality of their plants is now poor, customer service is lacking, and the corporate office is HORRIBLE!!!! My last three plant purchases have all died within days of planting. I recently ordered poinsettes to be delivered to an event. They were delivered late, to the wrong location, the plants were in poor shape when they arrived, and then we find out the delivery guy had given the gift card we ordered to someone we had never heard of. Trying to get help from the store did not help and calling corporate was frustrating. It has been three weeks, the refund check for the lost gift card just arrived made out to the wrong person. When I called corporate, Kimberly Bird - VP, Retail Marketing (the official company spokesperson), ended up yelling at me and telling me I was not a good Christian because I was telling my friends about my bad experience with Calloway's. All I want is for them to refund the money back to my credit card used for the originally purchase. Avoid Calloway's! read more

I have a large space to fill and I'm looking for 6 packs of begonias to plant. I need about 10 flats so I'm shopping best price. I called calloways in mesquite and they said they had then for 9.95 a flat (more than other places but open till 7 and had avail today). I drove in Friday traffic 30 miles to get there and a flat is $15 each. So irritated!!! That was the reason for a phone call and all the waiting to get info. Did not purchase!! read more

Customer service is something they have not heard of. They say they stand by their product but when you try to return a plant that is dying they give you a hard time. They have the ability to pull your receipt from their computer if you belong to the garden club, but try as you may they won't do it. They make it very difficult to give you the return for the dead plant. The manager pretended he didn't know the name of the plants I was returning and since I dind't know the name of the plants I had purchased they were not going to give credit for the returned plants.
