Neat & pretty big place with a private parking lot. I appreciated their variety. Some prices normal and a few higher. Friendly staff offering assistance. They also have a little cafe with beverages, a few sweet treats, ice cream & some novelty items in building in the back. We enjoyed a CARAMEL APPLE LATTE & HONEYSUCKLE LATTE while we browsed. There is a small play area for kids with connect 4, ring toss & a couple cute areas for pictures. I could have spent a lot of money on seeds, bulbs, plants & gardening supplies. I honestly did not know what to expect but I'm so very happy that I took the trip over. I was able to not only see but get variegated philodendron and alocasia. I didn't know existed. And it's so enchanting and beautiful to see butterflies just roaming about freely. It made me feel at peace. I cannot wait to come back. There was a small mishap with the price of the plant I bought showing up cheaper. But I truly believe in an honor system and just trusted the process. Very nice landscape location. Very well decorated, pretty, and has it's own cafeteria and meeting center. Wicked impressed. We came here today for a plant swap in the back meeting area, that sits behind the small, cozy cafe. Staff at the cafe was super nice and helpful. Prices for the food was a bit steep, but the hot sandwich I got was AMAZING! I can't recall which one it was, but they allowed me to substitute some other items in place of the one item that seemed odd on a sandwich. Really made a difference, it was really good, slightly warmed on the griddle, with some burnt cheese on the edges of the bread, really really good. Plants at this time were a bit small, which is expected for the heat of the summer. They did have a lot of supplies in the shop as well as home and yard decorating items that could be had to make the home and yard look good. Worth the stop in for plants and decorating. They do have fertilizers, soils, pots, stakes, signs, mulch, and other outdoor yard needs. Staff is super friendly. read more

With a craving for plant shopping, my roommate and I discovered North Haven Gardens. We found not only a wide variety of plants but also a charming coffee shop, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a stunning space. We were genuinely impressed by this beautiful garden center. We picked up two affordable herbs--a peppermint and parsley. Both are a bit dramatic when it comes to watering, but they're well worth it. read more

My sister brought me to this beautiful plant nursery when I was visiting her in Dallas. They have an amazing selection of indoor and outdoor plants and lots of exotics. The weekend I was there they were having a sale on herbs, so I loaded up on tons of herbs, including some I had never even heard of. They have all added so much beauty to my garden and I love being able to go outside and grab fresh herbs when I cook. This nursery is beautiful from the minute you drive up till you hit the very back. They have a super cute gift shop and café with very unique items. North Haven Gardens is beautiful and welcoming, as soon as you arrive you are greeted by gorgeous flowers, herbs and a vast variety of beautiful plants for both indoors and outside your home. Each time I come I find new varieties of herbs and flowers for my garden, I never leave empty-handed and the staff here as always so helpful and knowledgeable about how to care for the plants you purchase and advising which plants will work best for your landscape. My sister was visiting from San Antonio and she had to stop herself from buying too many more plants, otherwise she would not have had room in her car to accommodate them all on her way back home. I suppose there are worse problems then buying too many plants!! read more

An utter and complete waste of time! A good friend who is also a gardener had suggested what I was looking (Mexican Feather Grass) would most likely be found at North Haven Gardens as I'd had no luck at the Big Box stores. NHG is truly tucked away in Preston Hollow off a side street and I had high hopes that were quickly quashed. Clearly this is the Preston Hollow S&M crowd (stand & model) that is more there to be part of a scene and to hang out with their other equally pretentious neighbors. Nice (and obligatorily slow) coffee shop, people with dogs lingering over their latees, people meandering and taking up an entire aisle with their cart and no employees to be found anywhere. I wandered around (which I am sure is their goal) to try and find what I was looking for with no success. Their website is utterly and completely useless as well, listing nothing at all in what is carried, a directory, map, or anything. Other than setting yourself on fire I don't know how else you could attract attention to get help. The plants available were indeed quite nice, reasonably priced, and in good shape. But I don't need this sort of pretentious nonsense. I want someone knowledgeable who can assist. This is clearly for bored Preston Hollow housewives who want to suggest things to their gardener, taking photos of what they like while enjoying a coffee and chatting up a neighbor. This IS NOT a place for serious gardeners who want a non-nonsense approach and needless to say I will NEVER be back! read more

I was referred by a friend to NHG, for Garden Coaching, as I needed to get ideas for my two large flowerbeds, and what would go well. After filling out the NHG Garden Coach form, and gave my credit card number I received a text from the person I wanted to schedule. She informed me that she does not make home visits for my area of Irving (Las Colinas). She did recommend me to drive into Dallas. What amazes me about such businesses like this...is they want you to work on THEIR terms, and if it is inconvenient they have no problem telling you so, but honestly their website SHOULD indicate ONLY the areas of the Metroplex they operate. Just my advice would be find anyone local who can provide the same type of service. read more

Go grab yourself some flowers and some coffee (or a beer while you walk around the gardens)! You can find indoor and outdoor plants including herbs, vegetables, fruits, etc. My husband is starting a patio herb garden and the staff helped us pick herbs according to what would grow best in containers and what was most unique. I grabbed some houseplants including a pink spotted begonia, triostar stromanthe, and a strawberry cream arrowhead. I felt it was pretty affordable, but I don't know much about plants so I could be totally wrong. read more

The greenhouse had a great variety of succulents and plants specifically for terrariums. They do have a range of pricing but there are quite a few plants definitely on the higher end that I've seen more affordable elsewhere - however, they definitely have rare or harder to find plants . I love that they have little "how - to" pamphlets in front of plants to help you learn how to care for them best . The cashier was also kind and helpful. This nursery has been the creme de la creme of Dallas area nurseries for decades. You can come here expecting great healthy selection of not only routine landscape plants but, additional specimens hard or impossible to find elsewhere. They have recently torn down old building's constructed new modern ones and improved the flow and lay out. I always find something unique,unusual and different here, as I did today. Northhaven Gardens sits on a picturesque residential street and is full of flowers, plants, and gardening supplies. What really makes this place stand out is the overall ambience. You can grab a cup of coffee and treats at the coffee shop, they even have some incredible merchandise and work from local artisans. The outdoor staff is always willing to help. Bryce helped me avoid some high maintenance plants this summer! They also have plenty of special events like the pond event in spring where we got some INCREDIBLE water lilllies. They also had a koi auction and frequently host expert talks on a variety of topics. Even my toddler can stay entertained with hula hoops and lawn games. It's a place where you can run if for quick shopping or settle in and stay a while. So grateful to have this north Dallas gem! read more

Pricey but they always have what I need (ok once they were out of the seed starter lol but that's the only time) and their staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. Food at the cafe is great and the Bonsai exhibits and club is a lovely addition. They have a decent selection of green house plants and could maybe use a few more options for their general potted flowers but still a decent amount is available. Price for most items is on the higher end but you do get what you pay for. Overall I really like them a lot. I drive 45min to go there. All the soul I got from them has my garden growing nicely. I have bought many things in the past at North Haven .. I recently bought a small plant on a Thursday.. it died on Sunday .. I took it back Monday morning and would not exchange it ! I didn't want a refund , I just wanted it replaced .. it was a $45 plant . When I took it in to exchange.. they said flat "no,, we don't exchange tropical plants " end of convo ! Wow! I was very surprised.. this is North Haven Gardens !! We have spent thousands of dollars over the past 5 years ! At any rate I left disappointed .. Not gonna lie.. my first time here I was wildly impressed; their selection of plants and decor is amazing. However a recent trip there has discouraged me from from shopping there ever again. I recently took back an infected boobie cactus (I bought it as a plant newbie and didn't realize it had scale- or what scale was for that matter- until it was too late). The manager was arguing with me saying that my cactus was "healthy" and that "that's just the way they are," meanwhile there is a lot of discoloration and there were several large scales all around it.. After about ten minutes he finally agrees to give me my money back.. great, right?! Well it was great, until I realized what he was doing. He was putting that same infected cactus back into the greenhouse to infect all the plants around it. I couldn't believe it.. he just put it in a 6 in nursery pot (which was far too big for this cactus) and slapped a sticker on it priced at $160. I may stop by for a plant pop-up here and there; but North Haven won't get another cent out of me! Go to Ruibals or Suburban Plants instead.. when they have a problem they IMMEDIATELY tackle it.. They have been here as long as I can remember and I have always enjoyed come here. They got everything... -want to take some classes before planting your garden at home? They got several classes to choose from. -want to have some unique plants that the big box stores don't carry? check, they got them. -have a pond and need some plants? They got a lot to choose from. -want expert advice? This place is full of Master Gardeners. - need chicken feed or a coupe for your backyard birds? They got both! -need some beneficial nematodes? Amazing cafe in a beautiful setting. I was in town for two days and was looking for a cafe to sit and work for a couple of hours. When I saw they had avocado toast on the menu, I knew that was the place for me. I set the GPS with the address, and pulled in... to a garden center! I had to check to make sure I was in the right place. The cafe is nestled inside the garden center, with tables inside and out. The garden provides a lovely backdrop for breakfast or lunch, with an art gallery right next door. The avocado toast was amazing... seasoned with lime juice, olive oil, black sesame seeds and a little chili pepper. The bread was hearty and whole grain. I also ordered the turkey and black pepper dumpling soup, which was very good. I sat for two hours and worked peacefully, with free refills on coffee. Woo hoo! I came back again on day #2 of my trip for more avocado toast. My child was with me, and ordered French toast. It was on the same delicious bread, with fresh berries. My absolute favorite plant store! If you want fair prices, wide and healthy variety, any accessory you need and friendly master gardeners waiting to answer any question this place is for you. As far as your indoor gardening, they are the once place I know I can go and find something rare and generally hard to find. I always find it hard to pick only a few things, and if I didn't restrain myself every window in my house would be covered over with their exotic finds. Last year I decided to try outdoor veggies and herbs, and every single plant I bought not only thrived, it produced a harvest! Sun Gold tomatoes were my favorite find from here by far, just a hint. They also have an expanse of outdoor plants, from sun to shade, annual to perennial. Need a Texas native? The probably have it. With a little bit of everything here, its not just the basic begonias and friends. You won't regret a visit even just too admire all the healthy plants, and don't be shy asking for help - everyone here is super nice and extremely knowledgeable! read more

First off, love them for continuing safety precautions even after the mask lift. It makes me feel so much safer to have curbside pick-up available and if I need to go inside, everyone is wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Love em. But, this is a review long over due. I've been visiting them since I moved to TX about 2 yrs ago and boy, they are so HELPFUL. I came here from CA, (a dry heat) and before that, grew up in RI (insane temps of all kinds and snow. So much snow). All my knowledge on gardening sent off to sea. New soil type, long spells of humid heat and no rain. There were some casualties of war but, overall, the staff at North Haven got me a beautiful arrangements of plants. Never in a million years did I think I could keep a honey suckle plant alive yet, following their instructions, it's alive and well. Now quickly making its way up the trellis. She was so helpful, so kind, so knowledgeable and you could tell she loved her job. Not only is the garden absolutely stunning, their plants are beautiful. This is a prime example of a business understanding what they want to be and sticking to their model. Everyone there knows their stuff and are eager to help. The level of service and enthusiasm is off the charts. We also love the fact that they lean organic. Check out the chickens in the back lot. We visit "the ladies" every time we stop in. One tip- Get there early before everything gets picked over. During planting seasons they tend to run out quickly.
