Hubby loves to shop here! I rarely tag along only because he loves to take a long time to browse at all the tools. He especially likes the prices, they have some good deals on decent quality tools. Be sure to get on their email list and they do send occasional coupons out. There seems to be a huge variety of items to choose from. The cashiers are very helpful and friendly too! I had a great idea to use their magnetic parts dish to hold my straight pins for sewing and it works great!! I wish I had thought of this years ago!! read more

The service was beyond fantastic here! I needed a tow bar that's advertised on the app, but several locations showed out of stock. My last attempt was to call this location on Beltline. Meka answered the phone as was as friendly and gracious as could be. She went above telling me that she didn't see one on the shelf and called to the back to have someone check. They had it!! I drove straight there (about 39 minutes) and as soon as I walked in, she greeted me just as friendly as on the phone. I knew it had to have been her that I spoke to. They pulled it from the back and Jon not only loaded it up in my truck (I'm on a cane) but looked up the specs on the tow bar for me so I'd know what else I needed. I also bought 2 trailer chains. Alex (I may have the helpful guy and the cashier's names mixed up) but she was cheerful, helpful and just overall amazing. I shop a lot at Harbor Freight and usually find a friendly face or two, but I've never been treated by that many people at one store so incredibly nice as this one! Cuddos to them and their management team!! read more

I shop at the Richardson store most often but every Harbor Freight that I've shopped at, have been a 5 star experience. I've saved so much money on tools that more than met my needs. Recently had a plumber doing a tile shower for me and he was having a terrible time drilling through the tile to mount the shower frame. I handed him my Bauer heavy duty drill (from Harbor Freight of course) and he was shocked how fast and easy that drill finished the holes in those ceramic tiles. I love the selection of so many items at such low prices. The return policy at Harbor Freight is excellent so I never worry if something I buy there doesn't work out. Best of all; you don't have to chase down help at their store. They help you anyway they can... Just tonight I stopped by there (Richardson store) to get some things I saw online but one of the items was not on the shelf. A young employee (think his name was Dominic) went through a big search for me and found the items in the back. And then I almost walked off without my wallet, but he quickly saw it on the shelf and told me. Harbor Freight is a clean, well organized, well stocked store with very affordable prices and employees that always offer excellent help. read more

Bought a water pump sprayer for 5 dollars. I wanted to return it and I couldn't even return. I had to go to their alleged website and return it back to California. What a joke of a store. Your best bet is to go to other stores that will not scam you. read more

Another friendly local business we shop for from anything like zip-ties to tools to work on home & car repairs. My Hubby just recently purchased a tool to repair my car's steering wheel column. Saved us $400. It's nice to have Harbor Freight in our Neighborhood, pretty handy. read more

Harbor Freight is primarily a Chinese product store. If that's an issue stay away. There are American, German & Japanese made; engines, hand tools, power tools, pneumatics, automotive and welding supplies that are higher quality products. These are available elswhere. For the DIYers on a budget, Harbor Freight products will do just fine. In some instances they are better, one must shop wisely. Years ago the deals were unbelievable and at times this is still true, however they have instituted a yearly subscription deal and have gradually reduced discounts and increased price This particular store has cramped aisles and terrible customer service. As far as products they are identical from store to store. Frankly the service is about the same in all stores. Its really not an issue for me. When I go to Harbor Freight I know what I need and how to use it. Pro Tip: Keep your receipt many items are returned, taped up & resold. read more

I always have good customer service. Never have had a problem with this location. Always in stock on the items I want. Most item are easy to find in the stores layout. Don't buy any items that have motors on them. They do not last but most everything else works great. Most item are cheaper then anywhere else. Example they have a work light that is $3.49 and works great and is very bright for the price. I never pay $3.49 for them. If you look in the Sunday paper you will find a ad for harbor. The ad normally has 2-4 coupons. 1 of the coupons is a 20% off one single item. The other 1-3 are get a free item with any purchase (the coupon tells what item you get free). The work light is one of those coupons normally. So I'll buy an item and use a 20% off coupon and a free item coupon. read more

Harbor Freight Tools - Sunday paper ad - Hardware Stores Near Me - Richardson, Texas

I'm posting the same review for the two locations I shop at because it applies to both. Harbor Freight is a US Company that offers tools (hand tools and power tools alike) at a very affordable price. Admittedly, this is done by importing products primary from China but some stuff comes from other parts of the world. Many of the tools bear US sounding names like Pittsburgh, Chicago, US General, etc. But these are not actual companies and are just the brand that HF slaps on their products. If you know how to shop at HF properly then its a great store otherwise you'll be very frustrated with it. Basically if your life or income depends on it; don't buy from here. You're fairly safe buying their hand tools with lifetime warranty as you can take them back and replace them no questions asked. Also, many power tools carry a very short (30 day) warranty so only buy what you plan to use in case it breaks the first use. Also on power tools I never buy their lowest price. Typically, they'll have bushings which will wear out quickly. The "higher end" models will have ball bearings and should last a long time. Lastly, these tools don't have parts kits you can buy so once it bellies up you'll be buying a new one. However, if you use a tool enough to break it or wear it out... probably time to spend some $$$ on a more professional quality tool. If you sign up for their emails you can get coupons which offer many of their good products for silly prices. Example, their $30 torque wrench for $13. Their non-durables are also a good buy. Non-durables being saw blades, grinder wheels... IE anything that is an accessory for power tools. Sometimes (but I've had good luck) an item won't work right and you'll need to return it for a working one...this is more common on the very very cheap power tools, etc. But again, for the price I don't think you can complain too much. read more

This place has got a bunch of useful stuff. It's not gonna have your name brand tools that you get from Home Depot, Lowe's, or Sears, but stuff probably made from China that works just as well. They've got all sorts of tools that are used in construction, electrical, auto-mechanical, wood working, hobby, welding, gardening, and a bunch of safety gear too. Aside from tools they've got all sorts of LED flashlights and other things you might need around the house. I actually stopped by to pick up a new soldering iron and some socket organizers, but ended up leaving with a lot more than I should have. You could find quite a bit of stocking stuffers here for Christmas if you're shopping for a guy who likes tools or working with his hands. read more

I'm always leery when I walk into Harbor Freight. "Why?" you ask? Have you heard the phrase, "If it's too good to be true, it probably is."? Well, here you go. Today (as I have in the past) I go in to get an automotive tool. In this case, a ball joint separator. It's a specialty tool that's used to remove a ball joint from the part it's attached to, in this case, the steering knuckle. Well, the first one looks brand new and I start using it and the dang thing seizes up. I didn't even get the ball joint to release yet. I'm frustrated, but I know that's kinda what you get when you go to Harbor Freight. I go back and luckily exchanging it isn't too big of a deal. The cashier takes the bad one and tries to turn the forcing screw to check my story. It, of course, won't budge. Then he looks at his fingers and says, "Aw man... You should have told me it was dirty...." REALLY? You expect used tools to be clean? Used, broken tools?! I'm going to clean off a broken tool so you don't get your precious hands dirty? I will tell you now as I'm sure you've already guessed. No. I will not. So the replacement one I get, has already been used. Yes, it has grease on it and the forcing screw is blunted. *sigh*. I use it anyway because it doesn't look like it's been damaged. This story doesn't get any better. This one, the replacement, is also on the verge of seizing and I still haven't gotten the ball joint loose. *sigh* I would say anything here is fine, as long as you don't buy their tools. I take that back. I have purchased an arbor press and it works quite well. Their tool boxes are adequate and I have some zip ties that haven't let me down yet. However, their automotive tools leave something to be desired. The tools are priced accordingly. This ball joint separator was $16.99 + tax. That's quite good for a tool like this, however, since two of them have failed to do their job, I find the price irrelevant to the discussion. Sad. I really wanted to believe in their tools. read more

Went tool shopping with my pops, and this was my first time here The store was pretty organized and it looked like a men's playground with machetes, axes, tools, carts, etc. It seemed pretty stalked to me and there was quite a lot of people for a Sunday early afternoon, which is a good sign. The main reason I ranked this place 4 stars was because of their customer service, the man in the front who was checking us out (his name was Chris i think?) He was possibly the coolest, nicest, person that I've ever met in a check-out. He was helpful [letting us know all of the latest deals and how to get them], he was patient; there was coupon for 20% off of your highest priced item if you texted this number and he showed us how to do it and even waited for the text to come in so that we could save some money. Very good customer service. Definitely coming back if I ever needed any tools. read more

Outstanding, yes you get what you pay for and what you can afford. Don't knock things made in China. Thanks to this store I can do things myself and care for my home and family. Your doing a good job Harbor Freight. If you wish to pay more or less your free to go elsewhere while I go to harbor freight. Big Cheers, NRS read more

Harbor Freight Tools is probably the only store where I could say I may eventually need to buy about 80 of all the items offered by a store. Being a home owner, there is always a project that can be started or finished and when talking about updates and remodels, there is a great deal of pride you take when saying you did the work yourself. I've purchased at least a dozen tools from this store within the last year and although a few may not meet high quality standards, I usually feel like I am getting a deal when making a purchase on a regular priced item. Being on the their emailing list, you are bound to get a 20% off an item coupon about every two weeks. Although big-box hardware stores are known for their quality tools, Harbor Freight's store layout, where you can found so many different items within a small square footage, make searching for items less of a hassle. read more

I love walking around Harbor Freight checking out all the doo-dads, I am very easily entertained. I walk away from the hubby and just poke around while he does what he does, and gets what he wants. Me? I'm happy poking around read more

This is a cool store to get stuff for camping and home tools. They also have coupons but it doesn't ever seem to work out. Usually they'll have everything on sale do you can't even use the good coupons. Coupons are worthless there, I don't know why they even bother having it. read more

Harbor Freight is one of those places that you have to do a little bit of work to find the real bargains. Their coupons and free items get you in the door, but sometimes the quality is really lacking. This location is the same as all others in that regard. Specific to this store... it is a little bit cramped inside, but stocks everything you would expect. My one interaction with an employee was less than stellar. I asked a question, and the associate went and asked another employee who looked confused and clearly guessed the answer. Another employee yelled the right (I assume) answer in a tone that made it as iff everyone else in the world was an idiot for asking. read more

Was in on Oct. 19th., store was understaffed, manager Wayne, was walking around and swearing. Completely unprofessional behavior, neither manager opened another register. Customer service isn't the focus here. Maybe other stores are better, but not this one. read more

Had just what I needed and the manager was so helpful in helping me figure that out. Quite the variety of many products-I'll definitely be back when I'm in DIY mode again! read more

This locations has poor customer service. The employees have way less knowledge then most of the customers that walk in, which is never good in a business. What I always suggest to people is, "Don't buy anything here that you want to last a long time, buy things from here if you'll only need them once or twice." Most things I have bought from here have eventually broke or I have had to repair. They need to sell replacement parts as well! Especially for the air compressors. I could say a lot more about this business but I'll stop wasting my time thinking about it. read more

I frequent HF often. This is not a review of the quality of the tools, but of this specific location. Use caution when purchasing and take the time to examine the box closely. This is the third time I have made a purchase only to discover that I have purchased an item that was previously returned for being defective. The first two times, it was items purchased for my own use, so while turning around and driving back to the store was inconvenient, it wasn't the end of the world.....but I purchased a scroll saw as a Christmas gift for someone. They were having difficulty getting it to work and I offered to come help set it up- I went over to discover that the machine is broken. When they removed it from the box, it was not housed in plastic, was dusty and already had a blade inserted into the unit. It also didn't have the Allen wrench needed to remove and install new blades. The place where the flat part to rest your wood attaches to the body of the saw was disconnected and the metal 'torn'. I am going to bring it back today to swap it out- but it is embarrassing to say the least. I want to support a business that is in my neck of the woods- but from now on, I will drive to the next closest HF in the hopes of not running into this issue again. read more

Decent tools for the price. Don't expect Snap On quality, or even Kobalt or Craftsman. But if you don't plan to use it much and can't or don't want to spend much money, this is the place. FWIW the power tools I've bought here have been flawless. Some of the hand tools like allen wrenches and torx wrenches were crappy. read more

C Clamps cracked w finger tight on wood. Made of pressed together pot metal. You get what you pay for.

Do Not Shop Harbor Freight! Brought two major items, a drill and tool chest. We discovered the drill was broken just as we left the parking lot. Was able to return (note they left the broken one on the shelf as we left for the next sucker to pick-up). When we got home and opened the tool chest the bottom drawer was broken and chest was bent. Buyer beware because Harbor Freight certainly doesn't check their products before they sell them to you! Shop Home Depot or Lowe's, better quality and professional service compared to Harbor Freight. read more

This company sells tools and hardware at price you may not believe. When I shop here I purchase what I need for a job with the thought that I will toss the items after the project is finished. The power tolls they sell are far from being top of the line, however if the tool is needed for a single job and the price is only a third of the retail prices elsewhere, buy and toss. Some of the products are very flimsy made however they are cheap and you may be able to get by with that time. They offer coupons in many magazines, newspapers and nail outs. look for them even n the store.I think it is a neat place to browse---my wife thinks otherwise. read more

Not always able to find help but you can't beat the price. The tools are also great quality...at least for the average user. I've never really tested on a daily basis...they've held up and done everything I've needed. In summary...decent tools at a great price. This is my first choice for tools and other shop type items. read more
