He is very professional and highly skilled at what he does, . He have been in the field for 20 years and is board certified Maxillofacial and implant surgeon. His staffs and nurses were very pleasant and polite. As a kid with tetracycline staining teeth, I had a trouble time with my dentist as a young child. All the dentist that I saw were rude and mean. I was referred here by another dentist because I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled out and had procrastinated on it so the roots were so deep my regular dentist couldn't do it. I'm glad I got it done here. Dr. Lem and his staff were so incredibly nice and thoughtful. I've always been slightly scared to go to the dentist and the whole experience great. Dr. Lem takes the time to walk you through the procedure (even during) so you're never surprised on what's going on. If I could give this office a ZERO stars, I would. Called to make first appointment for TMJ consultation and it was about 2 months out. Super annoying. I make it anyway and girl who called me on the phone tells me no copay. Cool. Finally make my way there after waiting 2 months and they tell me I have to pay $200 for the x-rays and what not. Normally I'm fine with that but imagine me waiting 2 months to see this doctor and finally driving 40 min to get there and receptionist tells me I need to pay $200 when they told me it was fully covered. Whatever. I pay it. I see doctor lem and guy is nice seems to know his stuff so that's nice. I make the next follow up appt. A week before this follow up appointment, I get a call from Candace. They need to postpone my appt for two weeks bc someone in the office got covid. That's fine, we in a pandemic, I understand. She gives me options for dates and I ask can I do this date instead? She tells me I cannot because I need a special slot for extractions....... I tell her I don't need an extraction. She actually tells me yes I do. I tell her again, no I do not. She again says YES YOU DO. I tell her I'm making an appointment for TMJ follow up! Then she asks me for my name and birthday to double check. And she doesn't apologize but corrects herself and said oh it's a TMJ follow up. We settle for an appointment date 1 month from my original consultation date. Today is my appointment. Get a text + call from the office. They pushed my appointment from 4:30p to 2p. It's a Wednesday by the way. I work, similar to the majority of the American public. I said no I can't make it. I ask them why is my appt being switched ON THE DAY OF. She tells me doctor has a meeting. Are meetings scheduled on the day of?? Is this what they do to patients who have been waiting for 1 month to see this doctor when it was originally supposed to be 2 weeks? This office is disorganized and unprofessional. I gave them the courtesy of telling them to cancel my appointment. I'm taking my business elsewhere. Stay away guys, save yourself the extra headache. First off I would like to thank Dr. Tran, his nurses and the front desk. I was mortified to hear I had to have all 3 of my wisdom teeth. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a nervous wreck when it comes to going to the dentist. My dentist referred me to Dr. Lem. When I called to make an appointment the front office told me extractions are only done on Wednesdays and they are done by Dr. Tran. I bombarded her with a million questions because I was anxious at that point. She reassured me that he was amazing. My first thought was of course you are going to tell me your doctor is fantastic. Aftwr my 2 week follow up I can honestly say he has done a fabulous job. I was nervous the days leading up to the extraction. On the day of the extraction I was a hot mess. Dr. Lem and his staff are wonderful. I was having constant tooth infections as a complication from a previous medical procedure. Dr. Lem scraped off the dead bone from the mandible that was causing infection. Over the next 7 months, Dr. Lem was always responsive and quick to help whenever I needed a follow up exam. I am Daniel Ho, living in Chino Hills now, I had my implement surgery by Dr. Lem ( a fully Up front teeth implement surgery ) and was way back to 30 years ago. at that time it's barely to find a dentist who can perform a really professional implement surgery, should say implement was very expensive and still not so popular ; during this long period time, I didn't follow Dr. Lem's advice to come back to the office for any recheck except once for replacing the 2 loosing clips which were set in my implement denture. it's being 30 more years, I have never had any problem with all eating or chewing any food. I was weary after reading the few bad reviews, especially the comments about the non English speakers. I imagined myself on Garfield ave at one of those Chinese doctor office filled with elderly Chinese people and being yelled at by the middle aged female nurse when I asked any questions. I've been prolonging the removal of my wisdom teeth for years now, after hearing horror stories about how you're in bed for days, can't eat or go out, look like a chipmunk, hurts so badly you can't even sleep, etc. Well, guess what? I didn't experience any of that! Dr. Lem suggested that I get 3 of my wisdom teeth out. My bottom wisdom teeth had to be surgically cut out, as it was underneath the gums and growing horizontally. One of my top ones was not removed due to complications (deeply impacted near a nerve or something, gotta wait a few more years). I opted for the IV sedation, which is not exactly like going under since I'm able to respond. I didn't want to remember the surgery at all, best choice ever. I also did the stem cell implant, which I highly recommend. That's probably the main reason why I'm healing so fast, also I had a sore throat for 2 weeks when I went in but it magically healed after my procedure (not sure if that has anything to do with it though). Bleeding stopped like 30 minutes after the procedure. The numbness was gone approximately 2 hours later, but I was able to eat yogurt and macaroni just fine immediately after the surgery. My cheeks did not swell too much because I iced it for basically 12 hours straight the first day. I also slept elevated but it was kinda uncomfortable for my back. I'm sure he had a very careful and gentle surgical technique, because there was virtually NO PAIN afterwards... my friend told me stories how she was crying because her mom was stuck in traffic with her codeine. They gave me ibuprofen, however I didn't need to take any because it never hurt. I don't know if this is common or not lol but I was able to eat normally on Day 6. For the days I had to eat soft food, I mainly stuck with korean tofu soup, mashed potatoes, veggie smoothies, and noodles. I was prescribed amoxicillin to prevent any infections and took that for 5 days. Prices are completely reasonable for the quality of Dr. Lem's work. I rather pay more and heal faster with no infections, no dry socket, no pain, etc. I had such a remarkable, pleasant experience here and I will definitely be back in a few years for my last wisdom tooth. The service here is top notch too, his staff is friendly and welcoming and made me feel less nervous. I put my trust in Dr. Lem wholeheartedly. TLDR; Want a pain free extraction? Want to heal fast? Want to eat normally again within a week? I highly recommend Dr. Lem. He is a skilled, professional, and knowledgeable surgeon that uses the best techniques for your procedure. read more

I'm surprised at all the negative reviews on here for Dr. Lem. I was referred to Dr. Lem by my dentist since I had to remove a wisdom tooth out. I remember the nurse telling me that this would be the best nap I've ever had. The next thing I remember was waking up and seeing the nurse next to me. I asked her when were we going to get started and she informed me the procedure had already been done. It was indeed the best nap I've ever had. I think Dr. Lem did a great job because I didn't swell up nor was I in any pain what so ever. I returned back a week later for a check up and everything was great. I was back to eating solid food and using mouth wash again. Yay! I'll admit the procedure was a bit costly. I paid cash and spent a little under $800 for 1 wisdom tooth. They told me mine costed more because of how impacted it was and not to mention I was put to sleep. Best decision ever! since I don't endure pain well. They do accept credit cards but will give you a discount if you agree to pay in cash. What a horrible experience from the receptionist. She is rude, unable to communicate, and thinks she is the doctor. Somehow she, as a receptionist, diagnosed me with TMJ?? LOL and when I requested to see the doctor she rolled her eyes. Wtf? I made an appointment to see the doctor and she notified me that in order to see the doctor I have to pay $100 to do a scan. I was okay with doing the scan if it's needed, but I want to see the doctor first to ask questions and have a consultation. I've never been to a place where the receptionist prevents a patient from seeing the doctor. Strange. This place needs to definitely hire better people. I'm already in pain, and I have to deal with this. I'd rather find a different doctor then have to be treated like this. Dr. Leonard Lem is by far one of the best oral surgeons in the area! My son has gone to him twice now. The first visit was for a biopsy on his lip. Dr. Lem was very patient with my little guy only 6yrs old at the time. After the surgery was over my son had absolutely no pain. Dr. Lem was very gentle and caring. Wonderful experience for both of us! The second visit was when my son was 8yrs old and he scraped his face and chipped his tooth while skateboarding. He saw my son right alway. Not really sure why reviewers on Yelp are so harsh. Dr. Lem did a fantastic job with my wisdom teeth extraction. The initial pre-surgery consultation was informative and he laid out my options in an orderly manner and answered all my questions (I wanted to remove all four, but one of them actually broke a rear molar, so I opted for that one's removal as well). The surgery was painless (I was completely knocked out--Dr. Lem actually has additional certifications in anaesthesia--he obviously knew what he was doing). I woke up, got helped over to a recovery area, and instructed with regards to my medication and what I could and could not eat. Anyhow, it's been about a week now. I guess I should mention that I'm not a teenager, so my healing isn't as great as it used to be (I'm 32). The bleeding lasted about a day. I didn't really ever feel pain and went off the pain medication a day after the surgery. I had minor swelling on day two and three (nothing too noticeable, I just didn't want to use ice anymore). And... it's now day 6, I'm feeling pretty normal. So yea, everything went well... and I don't really have a horror story to tell--which, at the end of the day, is ideal. read more

I am deathly afraid of dental work and the staff was very kind and patient with me. I was put to sleep and got my implant. The process has been pain free. I just left the office they removed my stitches everything looks healthy my gum feels great. I am a total bleeder I had no swelling, bleeding, bruising after procedure. Whatever other people have yelped about this location if they have had a bad experience I highly disagree. I love , love , love Dr . Lem and everything they have done for me. If there's 0 star, I would choose it. I had my front upper three teeth implants with Dr Lem in Sept 2019, ensued a crown was done in the same office by Dr. Raj in Feb 2020. When the crown was tried on the very first time, Dr. Raj gave me local anesthesia and then used permanent glue. I questioned him what about if we need to fix the crown after the anesthesia is gone, he answered don't worry, he had special tool which could remove as needed. The next few weeks I kept feeling the crown oppressed my gum badly in one of the abutments. I went back, the office manager Susan told me I would have to pay again if the crown was chipped in the removal even if it's done within a year warranty. I was bleeding twice in April and October 2020. Dr. Lem suggested Dr. Raj not to remove but just to fix the crown. I have been having dull pain every day and they finally agreed to gave me an amazing appointment with Dr. Raj in Feb 2021 (71 days later from today) because no appointment is available sooner. I asked many times to talk to Dr. Lem but no answer. I complained many times and office manager Susan said there's nothing they can do but just to wait for next year appointment to fix the crown. Jesus, what kind of services this office is doing to their patients after they collected all your fees? My visit to Dr. Lem was for the removal of four wisdom teeth. From the looks of it, he and his staff know their stuff and are pretty professional. I personally hate the needles and the thought of excruciating pain was unbearable; however, they put me to sleep and woke up with no pain. This cut down on a lot of stress, and it was a much better experience than I expected. The follow-up the week after went well; Dr. Lem took out the stitches and made sure I was doing fine. I could now see why my dentist recommended me to see this oral surgeon. I don't even want to choose 1 star. Can I give negative stars? Because this place is a negative 5. I was referred by my dentist (who I complained to and is going to stop referring patients to Dr. Lem immediately) Dr. Lem is an excellent oral surgeon. He's very knowledgable and his work is clean. The issue at hand is his staff. Never have I ever been subjected to deal with such incompetence in a medical staff. They told me this doctor is in my network and covered up to 80% for my wisdom tooth extraction. My share would be $101 which I paid in full on the day of surgery. Turns out, he is NOT in my network, they made a billing MISTAKE and decided to pursue me for the amount of $600 7 months LATER. I refused to pay because they quoted me $101. So, they decided to bargain. They reduced to $500, then $468, then told me if I pay now they would only charge $400. I didn't pay much attention to the staff because it's like talking to a wall, actually, the wall understands more. Finally, they decided I owe them $234 or they would send my account to collections. Keep in mind, even though my insurance wasn't in network (after the office "verified" that they were) the office was paid over $800 for services rendered. This place is unorganized, and a scam. They threatened to forward my account to collections to see if they can get a dime out of me. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time here. I wish I had yelped this place before making an appointment. Everything was rushed, they just wanted to bill and get a payment from my insurance company without checking details to see if they were in fact covered. I started getting these debilitating sharp pains in one of my teeth (near the back). Eventually, my parents took me to see a dentist. I described the pain I was feeling and he had a look at it before telling me that all HE could do was try to patch the tooth and that it'd be more costly and without guarantee of fixing the problem. What he suggested was that I contact Dr. Lem and have HIM take a look at it, as the problem was with my wisdom teeth. I contacted Dr. Lem and got an appointment. His office is fairly small and staffed (from what I saw) mostly with elderly Asian women. I was fine with that (I'm Chinese, but don't speak it. My parents, on the other hand..). (All of this was back around June 2013, so I don't remember details of dates and pricing) Dr. Lem told me that the wisdom tooth causing me pain would have to be removed (along with the wisdom tooth below) and that, at that point, it was probably good measure to remove the other pair for symmetry in chewing. Initially, I agreed to a painkiller shot, but another dentist (I presume. Possibly an assistant) took a look at my X-rays and STRONGLY suggested I be put under for it. I told them, "Eh, you guys are experts" and agreed. We scheduled the surgery and they told me I wouldn't be allowed to consume any food or liquids (including water) for some time BEFORE the surgery. I can't remember, but I think it was around 8 hours, so they recommended I schedule it as early in the morning as possible (to bank on sleeping for most of those hours). I showed up for the surgery, they strapped me in the chair (it was pretty nice window view of Arcadia steets+roof tops) and they had a little chat with me. The next thing I remember was feeling unbelievably sleepy (like a deep sleep had been unexpectedly and annoyingly interrupted) and them telling me that the surgery was finished. I was in a seated position that WASN'T the chair they had me in, and the clock on the wall stated that nearly an exact hour had completely passed. I distinctly remembered checking my watch when I went in the chair, only to be "awakened" and having to accept that an hour of time had passed during the numerous blinks of my sleepy eyes. My mouth was still numb and I had the cotton, so I communicated to the best of my abilities. They gave me a prescription of one (1x) anti-biotic (Clindamycin HCl 150 mg) and one (1x) pain-killer (Ibuprofen 600 mg). I kept the bottles for memory's sake. Recovery was painless. I remember my oldest sister after she had hers removed and how painful she said it was. But I stuck to the prescription schedule as close as I could, and rinsed out my surgery sites as instructed (they gave me something that resembled a syringe without the needle tip). I don't remember the price, but from what I remember comparison-wise, it was around "average" to possibly "slightly-below-average". Compared to my sister's wisdom teeth removal, my costs were significantly cheaper. Dr. Lem was a great guy, his assistants plentiful, welcoming, and competent. I felt very safe around them as they explained stuff to me. All the scary stories you heard about wisdom teeth regards being too painful and bleeding a lot. The whole process of scheduling a wisdom teeth appointment went smoothly. I gave them my dental insurance and explain that I need to get my wisdom teeth put out due to the aching and irritation as soon as possible. Today, I came in to put out my two wisdom teeths on my left side. Dr. Lem explain the procedure thoroughly making sure I'm okay and letting me know what he is doing during the dental procedure. I feel safe along with staff addressing any concerns I may be having. The staff educate me on what I can eat during my wisdom teeth removal and what I should avoid. Overall, I like how the clinic gave me the appointment after addressing my wisdom teeth. They made sure I have a follow up appointment afterwards in case I need to see Dr. Lem again. I would come back here again for my right side of wisdom teeth removal after my left side heals. I'm glad I did two wisdom teeths removal instead of four due to the pain after math. I had my teeth implants here and I have been very happy. I can eat anything now! The surgery went well and no complications. I am very confused with all the bad reviews. This dentist is great. He is the only one I know who does stem cell dental implant. I saw his website and decided to do a consult there. His office has some cool X-Ray machine that can see my jaw bone in great detail he showed me where the nerve was, and explain the whole procedure to me. The implant surgery went well and I didn't have any pain; I can chew now and my new implants and teeth are working fine. I don't have to put up with my denture any more. The office has a great view of the mountains, which helped relax me when I was sitting on the dental chair. I'm glad that I made the right choice to see him. read more

I am absolutely angry about some of the reviews posted for Dr Lem. Nothing is further from the truth! He has been my oral surgeon for more than 10 years and is the most careful, professional, caring surgeon that I have ever seen. Always following up with his patients, checking on their well being, caring for patients that have received bad work from other surgeons. Even coming to his office to care for patients on weekends, when the office is closed! The medical profession needs more surgeons like Dr Lem! He has state of the art equipment, like the Icat xray machine. Why would someone want a fuzzy, distorted xray when they can have a crystal clear 3D image? He monitors every patient very, very closely while sedated with profophol ( no Michael Jackson type problems here) He explains every step thoroughly, before during and after every procedure so the patient knows exactly what to expect. If you want a dentist, then you should go see a dentist. If you want one of the best oral surgeons around, then you should go see Dr Leonard Lem. P.S.
