I needed my final wisdom tooth removed and my dentist referred me to Dr. Chew, and I am so grateful for him and his team. I have had a few horrid dental experiences and have had each wisdom tooth individually removed. Needless to say, my anxiety was at a peak. Dr. Chew, however, had a gentle tone and was a funny man. The anesthesia is always the worst part, but my tooth was out before I knew it! I came prepared with ID and chart, and along with a quick x-ray, my total time in office was an hour. Parking is a little tricky and tight here, but there's one handicap parking in the front. The office looks like a house from the outside. I was very grateful that they have a good A/C unit because it was a hot day and it was nice and cool in the office. I honestly was scared to come here to get my procedure done because of the bad reviews, but my experience here from the consultation, to the procedure and checkup was AWESOME! Like many, I dislike going to the dentist. Hence, the procedure that had to be done. The staff here are very friendly and helpful and Dr. Chew takes his time and explains everything and even helped calm me down as I was nervous before the procedure started. My procedure wasn't at all that I thought it would be- Minimal pain and I even walked out cracking jokes with the staff. All was done in less than 15 minutes! Dr Chews personality is the total OPPOSITE of what one critic stated. He really cares for his patients and takes his time. I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. The doctor may be experienced, but my overall experience was very disappointing. His attitude was rude, impatient, and dismissive. I did not feel respected as a patient, and it seemed like he was unwilling to take the time to understand my concerns. One of the biggest issues was communication. Although it appeared that the doctor understood Chinese, he chose not to communicate with me in Chinese. The clinic also did not provide interpreter services. Patients who are not fluent in English are expected to bring their own interpreter, which can be very difficult and stressful. During my tooth extraction, I felt that the anesthesia had not fully taken effect, yet the procedure continued. It was painful, frightening, and one of the worst dental experiences I have had. In addition, parking at this clinic is extremely difficult, which adds even more stress to an already unpleasant visit. Patients deserve kindness, patience, clear communication, and proper pain management. Unfortunately, I did not receive any of those during my visit. The assistant mistakenly put the wrong side of my extraction site and when I corrected Dr. Chew he was extremely rude and got mad at me and his assistants for a mistake that I was not at fault. He kept pressing on my extraction site and kept prodding around and made my post extraction even more painful and frustrating. The doctor had a terrible attitude. The clinic does not provide translation. As soon as the doctor realized I couldn't understand English, his attitude immediately became bad. When making the appointment, I had clearly explained that it was my 4-year-old son who was referred by his dentist. At that time, I had already provided the insurance number for the receptionist to schedule the appointment. However, when we arrived, the front desk told us there was a problem with the insurance. We explained that the insurance had always been the same and had not changed. Because of this small issue, we had made many phone calls with the insurance company before, and we knew there was no problem. But the receptionist insisted we call the insurance company again. We suggested that we could pay out of pocket first to see the doctor, and then resolve the insurance matter ourselves afterwards. During this time, my husband left to confirm the insurance. When the doctor came in and realized that I couldn't understand his English, he immediately turned around and left the room. I naively thought he was going to get a translator. Later, the nurse came over and told my husband that the doctor would only come back in to see the patient once my husband finished the call and could serve as a translator. While my husband was still confirming with the insurance, the doctor even suggested that we should just leave. We insisted that the doctor could see the patient right away. But when he finally came back into the room and sat down, he said he would not treat a 4-year-old child. He claimed that 4-year-olds are uncooperative and that he was not specialized in treating children. After everything that had happened, you only tell us at the very end that you don't treat children? Why didn't you say that when the appointment was first scheduled? Why make a patient wait for a whole month for an appointment, only to be told at the clinic that you don't see children? The nurse also claimed they wouldn't know the age of the patient when scheduling. But when making the appointment, you are required to provide the date of birth and the insurance number. So that excuse doesn't make sense. At this point, it's impossible to tell whether it was the receptionist's fault or if the doctor was just trying to scam insurance money. And it turns out the Google reviews were true. After the incident, I went back and read them carefully. Everything people wrote on Google Reviews was exactly right. So this is the punishment for not checking Google Reviews beforehand--like me. I sincerely hope anyone reading this won't make the same mistake. Because when you go to see a doctor, it should be for treatment--not for suffering. Also, if you cannot speak Chinese and you do not accept Chinese-speaking patients, and at the same time you refuse to treat patients who don't understand your English, then please put up a sign at the entrance stating that you don't speak Chinese. They tried to remove my bad review because they didnt think I was there but i was there with my dad and we want a translator that can better give out professional meaning on what the doctor says. All the reviews about his temper and attitude are 100% true. Went today to assist my dad with this new dentist and got the worst attitude from the doctor. The doctor was unprofessional and got upset with me over not knowing all the medications that my dad has... umm excuse me for not remembering everything. My dad is diabetic and it's hard to remember everything so I put down the medications that I was able to remember. He then raised his voice and told me that HE DOESNT GO Based ON WHAT I CAN REMEMBER AND THATS NOT A GOOD EXCUSE. Mind you I'm aware that I could have done better at remembering but when you have two parents with complicated health situations it is not easy to remember every little medication especially when you don't live with them . Then the doctor says he is going to have to reach out to my dad's main doctor to get the whole list of medications with such a condensing voice like sorry for making you do your job. He then left annoyed without saying a word or saying thank you for stoping by. I could also tell that his dentist assistant was uncomfortable with the dentist attitude. The dentist assistant was amazing and the only good worker we encountered there. Overall I will be trying to get a new dentist to avoid going there. A little compassion would of been nice and better attitude too. I'm not sure if we were treated like this because we were the only Hispanics there BUT GEORGE CHEW NEEDS AN ATTITUDE CHECK. My mom was referred here for a specialized tooth extraction from her dentist. Her experience here has been a nightmare from day one. Staff was rude. The front staff knew her language but unwilling to translate. They were very dismissive. As for the dentist, he did a poor job extracting her teeth. Had a great experience here, got my two upper wisdom teeth removed. The longest I had to wait was for the numbing to take place, Dr. Chew took out my wisdom teeth in less than a minute. I hardly even noticed that he was done. Dr. Chew brought a joyous, uplifting spirit to a scary moment for me and also listened to my health concerns and reassured me by checking my heart rate. On the 6th day of one wisdom tooth removal surgery, the hard lump on the side of face is still there with swollen and pain. Have taking antibiotics and pain reliever as described, it kept on swelling until the neck and painful to swallow water. Have to be fast for another and have to go to emergency on the 2nd evening. Unacceptable. The removal procedure is not under the sterile environment. Called the office, they scheduled a follow up on the follow 3nd, 4th day, was recommended back on the 7th day which is Monday. On the 3nd day follow up, was referred to ENT as the my voice was change the 2nd and hard to speak clearly. Didn't improve anything. On the 4th day, voice back but swelling not decreased. Was recommend to chew gums to improve the situation and could eat food with the whole teeth instead one side only. On the 5th day, try to chew gums and eat food with both sides, nothing improves but only mouth pain and neck pain. On the 6th day, could open the mouth with more freedom but can't eat food the other side and side face still very swelling and pain even taking pain relievers. Oh my goodness! Have to turn to a much better dentist for emergency care. Have to Sick leave so many days and maybe more! read more

Dr. Chew is truly a professional at his work. My family and I've been coming here for the past 10+ years whenever we needed oral surgery. He is an expert at wisdom teeth removal -- I got my top 2 extracted when I was 14, and the other 2 this past month! The numbing injection is probably the only "painful" portion of the whole procedure, and everything else went smoothly. I thought I would be bedridden with painkillers for the the next week, but absolutely no bleeding or swelling. 10/10!!! 1. They refuse to provide Chinese-English translation services when someone in their group speak Chinese. 2. The patient chair looks old as well as the entire office 3. Doctor is impatient and jumping from room to room with multiple patients at the same time. I don't receive the focus and service desired and deserved 4. They request to perform a CT scan for $200 and advised that insurance (Medi-Cal) won't cover. I asked if they ever tried and the staff agreed to proceed to file for an application but we need to wait for 4-6 weeks. I'm not convinced the insurance won't cover. Plus, I'm not convinced insurance will also pay the same amount. The staff immediately send us off without giving us any preliminary assessments. read more

I was hesitant with all the negative reviews but I was well taken care of. The younger dental assistant made me feel so comfortable and less nervous for my wisdom teeth removal. Dr. Chew is straight the point and tells you how it is, I guess some people just aren't use to it but I personally love it. I just wanted to get the procedure over with! I felt no pain during the procedure and the all the medications I was prescribed helped tremendously. They all constantly ask if you have ANY questions. First off, good doctor. Secondly, he needs to fire his administrative staff. They are rude, and do not understand patient care. They WILL lose your paperwork and notes etc. They WILL try to cancel your appointments if they can find a way to. Exhibit A: they tried to cancel my mom's appointment after I called to ask a question. I then mentioned she didn't know how to speak English and was told that she needed to bring her own interpreter and that they will cancel and reschedule for a month later! Luckily my mom was already there and they reluctantly found a "busy nurse" who knew how to speak Chinese. Exhibit B: they literally did not have on file that THEY sent a letter to my mom with approvals from the insurance and the doctor that her dental operation was approved. We emailed it to them. They tried to say that we didn't know how to read and that they didn't have anything on file and that we needed to wait another 2 weeks and that's when we should call back. The entire time the front office was just so rude. Save yourself some grief. But if you don't care about people treating you with human decency or having your records organized, then Dr. Chew is a great option as a dentist. read more

i had such a good experience with doctor chew. i wasn't recommended by anyone to come here for my wisdom teeth removal, but i was hurting really bad that i was just finding one that is able to do my removal as soon as possible and it was here. I was really terrified of taking out my wisdom teeth, considering that i had to take all 4 out. i booked an appointment with them, and the first appointment was getting my x-ray done. the second appointment was the surgery for my wisdom teeth. i got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out on july 22nd of 2025, and i was really scared when i went in. doctor chew was being really patient with me and explained everything throughly. the only thing that was really painful was the numbing shots that i had to get before getting it removed. it was really fast, and my mouth was already all numbed within 2 mins. the surgery was so painless and fast. the whole process was done within 10-15 mins. after i went to cvs to pick up my medicine, which was antibiotics and ibuprofen. my healing process was only a week, and within that one week, i didn't feel any pain at all. it was just really frustrating not being able to eat much food and that was it for me. i went back to the office to do a checkup after a week after my removal and i was good to go for everything. all in all, i think doctor chew did such a good job because i feel like he took a big part into this where i wasn't feeling any pain or had any problems after the surgery. the other staffs in the office was really helpful and nice as well. doctor chew really made my experience for my wisdom teeth so great and helped me with my fear with getting it removed because i was delaying it to get it out for 2 months since i was terrified. i would definitely recommend coming here for wisdom teeth removal for anyone who's in need of it and in the area! read more

After they took my x-rays, George answered all my questions and reassured the risks of extracting the teeth. It only took about 20 minutes to extract both wisdom teeth. It was fast and professional. Money hungry office . We already came in with a CT scan from her primary ortho. Literally over an hour just to tell me surgery will lead to an infection charged me and my insurance for stuff we already did. I don't even know how this office has rusty things and still not get audited. I am so irritated with the office. I sat there for an hour for the doctor not to resolve anything just to follow my orthodontist request and nothing from his side but he's the oral surgeon just to tell me a risk factor any one can tell me any risk but it doesn't mean I'll agree you think when you have a good relationship with other providers you would put more effort into your job but who cares when you can bill "according to my benefits" I've worked with insurnace for 10 years and I work in the medical field it's all numbers to doctors like this. Yeah props to the staff who scheduled my appointment and the one to reach out with another oral surgeon I can go to. I don't know if they do general dentistry, but I went here specifically to get my wisdom teeth removed and it was an amazing experience. I wish I could have him as my normal dentist. I would recommend getting a morning appointment since my sister also went to him for her wisdom tooth removal based on my recommendation and she had to wait a long time after her appointment. But mine was on time and it was a good experience. George took his time to explain what the risks would be if I get my wisdom tooth removed. He showed me on the scans that there was a nerve hitting my tooth and it could be possible the nerve will get damaged. I asked if they can do laughing gas and be explained to me that it will add unnecessary complications, so I decided not to do that. I fully understood the risks and decided to go forward with the procedure. The procedure went really well. I didn't feel a thing and afterwards, they gave me a kit to take care of it until it is healed, and then schedule a follow up appointment to make sure it healed properly. 10/10 great doctor read more

A year ago, I went after I was recommended by my primary dentist. After my intial CT SCAN, Dr chew gave me an ultimatum saying I would need to have tissue from my mouth be sent to a lab to check in case for anything for $200 if not they can not proceed with the surgery! Asked for advice on a dentist's subreddit with provided CT scan photos and said didnt need to. Went to OC to a credible well respected oral surgeon to make sure, they also said what was the point in that. Be careful of what they ask you for. read more

Dr. Chew is the BEST when it comes to teeth extraction. In 2017, I had him took out all 3 wisdom teeth in 1 day. Took him like 1 minute per tooth, not even exaggerating. I was impressed by his speed and professionalism, so my brother also went to him to get all of his 4 wisdom teeth taken out in 1 day. He's also super nice making sure I don't feel any pain during the procedure. Today I'm back due to a huge cavity that caused me not able to eat with one side of my mouth for well over a year. I had to come to Dr. Chew for this, I know no one would ever be quicker than him when it comes to tooth extraction. This time, took him about 20 seconds, no pain AT ALL. I'm just impressed. Dr. Chew is my lifesaver, please never retire, I expect to have more cavities as I get older.... The crew of nurses & front desk are super nice as well. Recently went in for a referral from my primary doctor. I was told that I only needed to take out my bottom wisdom teeth which I was very happy about. Dr chew and staff were nothing but nice and explained things to me before my procedure. I did express how the dentist makes me nervous and they did their best to distract me but personally If I need my top wisdom teeth taken out I'll be going to a dentist that can do the procedure when I'm sleeping. I didn't like to hear the loud noise from the drills during the procedure or the pressure that I felt due to my teeth being impacted. After the procedure my checks were swollen and in a lot of pain the first week. I definitely didn't eat much for a week due to how painful it was. 6 weeks from procedure and I have noticed I still have a difficult time chewing certain things. read more

cant say im a fan of the dentist (and needles) but dr. chew made me feel at ease by first taking a few x-rays (tells me hes very professional and precise which deserves respect) than he immediately got to work. hes very honest in the sense he just pulls wisdom teeth nothing else which i appreciate (if you read my review on braces you would know what im talking about). the whole procedure lasted about ten minutes most of all absolutely no pain whatsoever just light tugging like somebody pulling your shirt but you dont feel pain which made the whole experience so much better. i think i got local anesthesia my mouth wasnt completely numb and i wasnt sleepy at all i was still aware just felt no pain. afterwards they'll give you instructions on how to take care of your teeth (dr. chew even recommended me yogurtland best recommendation ever). highly recommend dr. chew for wisdom teeth removal. credit card and cash only no checks. poor guy has been bounced one too many times. bounced the wrong guy people. read more

I don't understand why people gave him 5 star review to this rudest and variably abusive doctor in the entire world. I went to see him today. They schedule the appointment and took at least 2 month. After I got x-ray, I went back to the room and he was explaining about the aftercare but I couldn't understand what he was saying cuz he have mask on and over the top he have like this full face mask survival respirator gas mask. So it was so hard for me to hear him clearly. Usually, I wouldn't mind but he was talking about after my surgery so I took it very serious and I wanted to hear what he was saying. He repeated two time and I couldn't understand clearly so I asked him " do you speak Burmese?" I only asked him because my very kind Burmese dentist recommended him so I was hoping if he can speak Burmese I might hear and understand him better. Dr, Chew extremely rudely replied "I don't speak Burmese, this is America you need to speak english and we all speak English here." I was like shocked** I've never heard someone rudely replied like that to me in my entire life. I wonder how he talk to his staff in the office and **how he treat other people that who couldn't speak English. I feel so bad for them. He don't like to answer questions and he was always in rushed like we're wasting his time by not paying him. because he treats me like I was not paying him and he is doing everything for free and with no respect. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed today by Dr. Chew. He was incredibly fast, efficient and encouraging. He talked me through the whole procedure. My entire appointment lasted around 40 minutes and the procedure even less. I can tell he is incredibly experienced and professional. During the procedure, I asked for more anesthesia for one tooth because I was beginning to feel and he obliged right away. I was in and out in no time. They took care of me right at my scheduled appointment time. I did not have to wait in anxious anticipation for long. His team verified my insurance before the procedure when I was fully aware and could ask any follow up questions. They then proceded to share with me follow up care instructions and gave me space to ask any questions prior to the procedure. All my questions were answered and I felt confident to proceed. I was more anxious about the procedure in the days prior than during it. It helped to remind myself this is a normal procedure people go through all the time and after I was done, I would never have to think about it again. During the procedure I was allowed to have one earphone in for relaxing music and they also let me bring in my sister for emotional support. I was given antibiotics and a strong painkiller for recovery, not Tylenol or Ibuprofen. I picked them up at my local pharmacy right after. Dr. Chew and his team also provided me with some additional gauze that I used to help with bleeding after the procedure. However, the bleeding was minimal and not as intense as I thought it would be, even during the procedure! Overall, I could not recommend Dr. Chew and his incredible team any more. They also let me take a picture of my teeth before leaving! read more

Dr. Chew himself along with his staff are beyond comforting and are experts in what they do. I came for my wisdom removal & they only offer local. Upon my visit I asked one of the assistants whether anyone ever ran out mid procedure & that was a great conversation starter. I felt so comfortable having my wisdoms removed here. Dr talked to me the entire time and made sure I was good to go. The entire procedure took less than 20 minutes AND i pulled out all 4. At the end, I was given some extra gauze and a prescription for some antibiotics and that was it. I only felt a bit of tugging & a quick sharp pinch for the shots but that was it. No pain at all. He was quick as well. I highly recommend anyone here if you're planning on having your wisdom teeth removed. read more
