Dr. Cheng's Dental has been my go-to dental office since I was a child. I've gone through a few dentists here over the course of 40+ years... Dr. Joe Cheng, Dr. Alex Tu, and Dr. May. Dr. Alex Tu is my current dentist. He mainly does regular cleaning and fillings for me. If I recall, I've only had one root canal. Most recently, he's helping me with a crown. In the near future, he'll be helping me with deep cleaning. Dr. Alex Tu is wonderful... he's very gentle and caring. He takes the time to explain my x-rays and any potential underlying conditions. He'll make adequate dental recommendations to help prevent future issues. He takes very good care of his patients. Thank you Dr. Tu! The staff is always pleasant and attentive. You may or may not get a smile from them... it's hard to see with their mask on, but you can always tell if a person is smiling... it's all in the eyes. =) They do accept dental insurance and cash prices is a given. Parking can be tight, but I've never had an issue though... I guess it all depends on what time of day. Give them a try if you need regular dental care or any oral resolutions. Actual dental work is great but you always have to wait 30 minutes to one hour after your appointment time

I had horrible teeth. I couldn't even smile with my teeth. I had no idea how to take care of my teeth. Dr Eric took care for me. He carefully and professionally asked some questions and checked my tooth condition and gave right treatment and advice I could comfortably trust and rely on him. He did beautiful implant job and roots canal. Sometime he made some jokes to make me laugh before treatment and that was one of the his talents. Now I have confidence to laugh in front of people. 2 words: Tread lightly. I decided to try a new dentist after losing dental insurance (boo, being a 26 year old in grad school!) and the great reviews (high rating + high number of reviews = must be credible right?) persuaded me to schedule an appointment. I did learn ONE valuable lesson which is the reason for an additional star-- ALWAYS get second opinions if you doubt their advice/recommendation. This is true for anything in life, especially medical decisions or anything you are planning to spend $$$$$ on. After my first visit and being told I needed two fillings (first time I was told I needed fillings in my adulthood!), I consulted TWO separate dentists and was told it was NOT necessary. Having been a regular patient (6 month checkups) for most of my life, the actual cleaning/exam was pretty short relative to all my cleanings I have had. I am glad I decided to ask for a second opinion or I would have had 2 teeth drilled and filled... unnecessarily IN ADDITION to -$300 they would have charged. The dentist I was with also encouraged against silver anagrams. So please, tread lightly. read more

We have been coming here for a few years, Dr. Wilson Long is great and excellent in taking care of his patients. I couldn't ask for more, he is one of the best in this field. He is the only reason why we continue to abuse our schedule and come here. Now, onto the despicable part of this office. They would schedule you for an appointment, but when you walk in, you sit around for a few mins and while that is okay, but waiting for more than 30 mins IS NOT OKAY! I don't blame this on the staff because they are just following instructions. The office manager, an older lady, is the reason for this inconsiderate behavior and she is just trash. She is rude and condescending, just the typical money hungry manager. She manages the office like if it's a market, she doesn't care if you are scheduled or not. All she sees is $$$, doesn't care for customer service and experience. Now this could also be an issue of the owners, just a money hungry office. I waited for more 30 mins yesterday before I had to reschedule, her response was "don't come on Thursdays". WTF!!! Then, why the hell do you have appointments if you are going to make everyone wait? Where the hell is the logic in that? This is message for the office manager, go get some customer service training and get your sh*t together. Stop taking walk-ins and burning your regulars. Now that I recently visited this office, I have mixed feelings about this place... Although I've been a patient at this place for many years, I wanted my husband to be happy with their services here too, but unfortunately, this was not the case. x| First of all, they're not straight with you over the phone. The office staff don't give you all the info that you need to know BEFORE you go to your appointment. Over the phone, I tried to ask them (Annie) what their prices were for a tooth extraction for patients without dental insurance, and she said I would have to book an appointment with the doctor to find out. So I made an appointment for my husband. Turns out the day my husband & I go to the office, they frickin' wasted my & my husband's time!! They had my husband fill out a bunch of papers to create a new patient file for him & after I did all that, they finally told us that in order for the doctor to see him, he had to have a specific x-ray done. We told them that he might have had that x-ray done at another dentist's office, but they're not open today. So we ended up leaving w/o seeing the doctor! Thanks for nothin'!! x| read more

Had a very good experience during the pandemic here. I am so glad to see Dr May again. When I was here on a Saturday morning, the office is not as crowded as before. I was told that they limit the amount of patients each day now. I had full attention from the staffs. All the staffs have their face masks and face shields on. They had my temperature checked, asked me to clean my hands with hand sanitizers and rinse my mouth with a special rinse. The staff explained to me about an extra oral suction machine. It is pretty loud to me, I will recommend others to bring a headphones or ear plugs to their appointment. I saw multiple air filters in the front desk and in the treatment rooms. The office is very clean with strong AC. I felt very comfortable and safe. Dr May is always nice and gentle during the procedure. She showed me the proper way to wear the mask too. Very heartwarming at this difficult time. We will be back for our cleaning appts. read more

This is my second time visiting for a teeth cleaning. Dr Tim is my mom's dentist so I chose him too. The first time here I felt the cleaning was sloppy and I wasn't planning on coming back. I felt they were just too much in a rush to get patients through the door even though no one else was there except us. This time around they took extra care in the teeth cleaning process and made me feel at home. The nurse or helper was very funny. She took extra time and energy in polishing my teeth and opening a fresh bottle of hydrogen peroxide for me to rinse with. For my mom she's been coming here for years. She wasn't very pleased when Dr. Tim dropped a drill on her lip which split her lip open while doing a procedure. He apologized but it sure hurt my mom and in our family pic this weekend I could see it. Anyhow she will return again another day. read more

They are great and conservative dentists at Cheng Dental. Dr May is my dentist for the past 5+years now. Dr Joe is my implant Dentist, they are very nice dentists! I never had my blood pressure measured in my previous dentists' office before! Not even when I had my wisdom tooth removal years ago at the specialist clinic! At here, they checked my Blood pressure before the implant surgery appointment! My blood pressure was way too high and they have to send me back to my Physician to lower my Blood pressure! Dr. Joe is a very nice dentist, he even lectures me about the important of having a good blood pressure, even they have a very busy schedule on a Saturday afternoon. For the comment made by Sandy M. I have to disagree with your comments. As a patient at Cheng Dental for over 10 years myself, I have to say that it is very not nice of you to take your unsupported claims out on a public review site to hurt the reputation of a great dental clinic! One of my silver filling was broken today, sad day. I called the office, told them that it hurts and there is a hole on my tooth, they told me to come in right away. It was awful that when Dr. Cheng complete remove the old filling, it was so big that a crown was inevitable. Finally, yours truly is getting one of those, call me Queen please. To conserve tooth structure, and as a proud USC dentist, Dr. Cheng recommended to make a 7/8 gold crown. After all the pros and the cons, I've decided to go with the slightly pricier option, the tooth is in the far back, no one will ever see it. He was quick, painless, and all was done beautifully. I was so thankful that he saw me without an appointment, resolve my pain, and made me a beautiful crown--which will be delivered in 2 weeks, I will post update to follow up! Dr May is my dentist for more than 5 years, she is very professional and honest. She is also my kid's dentist, and my kids like her so much. My son has a cavity in his teeth, if it's not that bad, she will suggest wait to see. I took my kids the other place for cleaning their teeth, the dentist took less than 2 minuets to finish the cleaning. But Dr May cleaned very detail for their teeth. Worst dentist experience ever. That Dr. Eric was rude, impatient, and totally not customer friendly. Here are the facts: From the moment I sat down to the second I left the office, I didn't have a chance to see his face. Interesting? I've never had any dentist turned my head so many times for a regular cleanup. Yes, he's using his hands to turn my head left and right MANY times. Almost at the end of the clean up, he spilled a large amount of water over my face and the water ran along my neck and ran over my back. Not even an apology from him. Normally when a dentist's done, he will tell you to "brush your teeth regularly and see you in 6 months." Not from this guy and not even a "bye". What's wrong with this person? At first I thought this Dental office was nothing but great, unfortunately upon recent events I have discovered the poor integrity, work ethics, and lack of skill the doctors possess Early on this year, I had a root canal operation which was done to perfection, but the following procedure to seal up the root canal was done so poorly; apparently I might have to redo the whole process. I only found this out recently because I have a few wisdom tooth that need extracting and I was following up with another dental office out of town. The dental office I went to specializes in root canal and tooth implants, so when they told me the previous dental office did not properly seal up my root canal you better goddamn believe I trust their word. On top of that I might be required to do complete redo of the procedure; I literally SHIT my pants. I am not exaggerating since I paid thousand dollar (PLUS) to do this operation at Cheng Dental, only to find out I have to redo the entire procedure!? Now I will explain why I know poor work ethics and integrity exists within Cheng Dental office staffs. After two weeks of filling my root canal with a fiber glass, I begin to experience pain or a vibration in my tooth every time I attempted light sports or even something as simple as walking down a flight of stairs. I called the doctor whom helped me with the procedure and specifically asked if I should be worried, they said it was normal and I had nothing to worry about. So fast forward it is because they did not completely seal my root canal properly and it invited new cavities in my root canal...... I take partial responsibility for not taking my own health seriously, but if this office honestly carried about their patients they would suggest at least a follow up to inspect the issue. I am never coming back. My appointment was at 1:30pm for a cleaning. I got here on time and waited 30 mins in the lobby until I asked the front desk lady when Ill be seen, she said I should be up next. Then 15 mins later they took me to the back to spend another hour sitting in the patient chair, and that's when I lost my patience. I went back out to tell the lady that my appointment was at 1:30pm and I've been waiting. No one approached me letting me know when I'll be seen or apologized that they're backed up. She said "oh you haven't been seen?" Apparently not! I left this crappy inconsiderate place without getting any service done. I didn't feel like it was worth another how many ever hours they would've kept me waiting. I know there's better professional dental places out there that would never treat their patients the way this place does. HORRIBLE. Long story short? Um.... Just do not come here. Ok, I have a several things I can complain about them, but the main reason I suggest to skip this one is because they tried to charge ridiculous amount though my insurance, trying to take advantage of it. I came in for a free exam and decided to have my tooth removed. A front lady told me that it was going to be $190, but I would pay just a deductible and co-pay there. Since they are not in the Delta Dental's network, she said I would receive a check from Delta Dental for the rest of the fee. Then I need to send that check to them. Cool, that's pretty simple. Two weeks later, I got a check and statements from Dental Dental, which said Dr. Cheng Dental claimed $700 for my tooth extraction. $700!!!?!??! That is almost four times more than the price they told me!! AND they charged for the exam that they said was free! Well, $700 is way over the limit in the insurance, so they took it as $250. I called them and talked to the front lady. Then she started making up whatever excuses and lies. WOW. I had not felt this angry to anyone for a long time. She even said that all prices listed in the statements are made up by the insurance company. I talked to the insurance company, and they said there is no way they make up how much is claimed of course. I KNOW that they did it on purpose trying to take advantage of the insurance company... If the front lady just apologized saying that was just a mistake, that was fine. But if she lied to make excuses, there is a huge problem. I have a lot more to say, but I will just stop here before my anger and disgusted feeling turn my stomach upside down. There are many good dentists in LA, so just... please skip this one. read more

Judging by the reviews on here and my own personal experience, the popularity of this place has a lot to do with Dr. Robert. I just finished my Invisalign treatment with him and I love my new teeth! Here's why I WON'T be returning to Cheng Dental and will be switching over to Robert's own office in LA for my future dental needs. This review is solely for the front desk staff at this place. I've had no problems with David and the other guy who is occasionally there...both of them are very friendly. But the women who work at the front, especially the older lady, have little to no concept of what good customer service entails. Don't expect anybody to make eye contact with you or acknowledge you when you walk in. You can go through the entire check-in process without exchanging a word with anybody at the front desk. I got completely dismissed by the older lady (Annie?) today while trying to make a follow up appointment. Her excuse was she didn't have my file in front of her. Made no attempt to solve the situation...just continued to ignore me. I tried again after a dental assistant noticed I hadn't left yet and Annie proceeded to dismiss me AGAIN and asked, with the biggest stink eye, if I could "go over there" to a lady who was on the phone. I didn't expect the person on the phone to notice or even look at me, and she didn't. Luckily, David noticed my predicament and saved the situation. Be more courteous and friendly to your patients. If the older lady is the office manager like some are saying on here, she is setting a terrible example and it's no wonder most of her staff are just as rude and unwelcoming. The front desk is the first thing patients encounter when they walk in and often times the last thing they deal with before they leave. Came in for a general teeth cleaning and I met this lady Dr. May. She is a funny lady, she knows whether you are lying or bs-ing with her. You floss? (yes O_o) Really? Then use better flossing. Are you using a mouth guard at night? (yeah *_*) Ok, bring it with you next time, I want to take a look. -__- LOL, such a funny experience and I totally forgot about the pain. I dropped by again because my teeth wasn't in the best condition and needed some work done...this is what happens when you do some of your dental work overseas! ): But boy! am I glad that I decided to purchase that Groupon coupon because I wouldn't have noticed this dental office! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place... Again, I was very pleased that their receptionists are always helpful! I was supposed to drop in on a Thursday but due to the crazy power outages from the winds in the majority of LA, I didn't know if they were open...so I missed my appointment! I called them the next day to ask if I could reschedule and they informed me that they were still open but was merciful with their $10 missed appointment fee. I was rescheduled for another appointment the following week, fast and efficient system! It usually takes a long time for me to be comfortable around a dentist office but Cheng Dental makes me feel at home! I also have to emphasize on the great service from Dr. Robert Huang. He made me feel comfortable and at ease when I had to get two anesthesia shots in the front gums (OUCH!). I usually am not a happy camper after those shots but he was attentive to my pain tolerance. When my gums were numb, he was patient and let me know that I was uncomfortable I could raise my left hand...but it was never needed! Also had a great time because I was amused by Dr. Robert's singing..hahaha! I was privileged to listen to his lovely rendition of Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas" and I can say that it was my first time I laughed during a dental procedure! I had to reschedule due to a more important commitment. The receptionist told me to come in at 3 that day because they're not busy during the afternoon hours. Anyway, when I got there, it was not busy so I figure the wait shouldn't be bad. Boy, I had another think coming! I waited...and waited...and waited. Until 45 minutes later, they finally call me in to wait some more. I sat at the dentist chair for another 45 minutes before Dr. Robert Huang was finally able to take a look at my tooth. In his defense, he did apologize for the wait while I was in the waiting room and he apologized again several times while I was sitting in the examining room waiting for him. I thought Dr. Huang did a good job explaining what he was going to do, which helped calm my nerves because I really, really hate going to the dentist. While working on my tooth, he played some music which put me at ease. I felt that he did a good job on my tooth and didn't take a long time like at another dentist I had gone to. Anyway, this business would have gotten four stars from me had it not been for the very long wait. Dr. Huang's expertise, professionalism, and sense of humor make going to the dentist an experience to look forward to. Not only does he take the time to really explain the process and the importance of keeping your teeth clean, but he'll do it in a way that only makes you feel half bad for not flossing! Jk!. Dr. Robert Huang is by far... HANDS DOWN... the BEST dentist I have ever had! I have never been a fan of dentist visits but he has definitely changed my views! He is not only extremely friendly but also knowledgable! I love how he explains each procedure in detail which in turn alleviates my stress level and fear. I also appreciate the fact that he asks how I'm doing during procedures and makes it a priority that I feel little to no pain. He genuinely cares for his patients and works hard to accommodate individual needs. Need to write a review for Dr. Long. Firstly they open on Sunday which actually saved me for one weekend when my wisdom tooth pain almost killed me.
