The food was excellent. I had the Frisse salad with an egg on top and it was so good. I had the sausage cavatelli - the sauce was delicious. I tried my friend's gnocchi and they were very good as well. Another friend had the manicotti and kept saying it was the best she's ever had, it 'melted in her mouth'. She didn't share LOL. I was on a return trip to Pittsburgh where I still own a house. Needed a place to eat and this came up on yelp. The restaurant has several rooms including a patio and a bar. Very nice and cozy. The staff was extremely friendly. I was able to have lunch on the patio on a day that turned out to be sunny and I am so glad I came here. I ordered the gnocchi which was super light. The sauce was a tasty marinara but I felt like it warranted a meat sauce instead of marinara for some additional density since the gnocchi was so deliciously light. The Caesar salad was excellent. Love LeoGreta.. so I will say the food is good and can be great, I think it depends on what your standard for Italian is, wouldn't compare this to I'l Pizziolo or Alla Familia but it's very reasonably priced, so keep that in mind. I never leave reviews, but after my visit here for a late lunch with friends I will NEVER return. Food was okay, small portions for the price but that was fine. Drinks and dessert had to be the best part, reason I will never return is due to the irate screaming and throwing of things in the kitchen. Which seemed typical from a kitchen, until I was astonished to find out it was the owner and main chef of this restaurant. It's typical for a loud kitchen but the foul words I heard were something I'd never even say to my worst enemy. I don't know how any one could dine, work, or even sit in this place!!!! LeoGreta never fails to disappoint! I've ordered their food to go a few times and have become obsessed with the white bean dip, I highly recommend it! For tonight, I came in during happy hour and enjoyed a glass of their house white for $5. There were other featured wines as seen in the picture, as well as a very extensive beer, wine, and cocktail menu. Happy hour is only available at the bar. Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. The restaurant became very busy shortly after arrival, with a mix of walk-ins wanting bar seats or tables, those who had reservations, and others attending a private event upstairs. I was excited to try the corn cream catavatelli as an entree special after seeing it featured on LeoGreta's instagram. It was a perfect summer dish, with a creamy, rich, slightly tangy flavor and fresh tasting pasta. My entree could've been served hotter as it had cooled substantially after finishing my bread, but it was very enjoyable nonetheless. Everything about Leo Greta is wonderful. Attentive service, great food, and shared space with a sweet-smelling bakery. What's not to love? We had the Beans and Greens as an appetizer. I've tried coming here prior to this visit, but they close early and lock their doors earlier, so be sure to observe those times on their site. I finally got in and sat at the bar on a Wednesday recently and enjoyed my visit! The guests at the bar were friendly, as were the staff. The menu isn't very broad, but has just the right amount of Italian delicacies to choose from. I started with their Grandma's Bread Pizza, which was decent, but far from impressive. It lacked a decent amount of sauce and what sauce it did have, immediately soaked into the bread. The bread was great though. Next up what their Frisee & Lardon salad and this was excellent! Best thing I had on this visit! The egg really helped make the salad that much creamier, the lardons had an amazing, gentle smoke to them, which really helped make this feel like a taste of being in a country cabin in the winter! My entrée was their Linguini Carbonara... The pasta was a perfect texture; spot on! The overall flavor of the dish was more on the side of the pasta water, rather than the richness from the egg and creamy cheese coming together with it. The saltiness of the pancetta was helpful. For dessert I heard they had a dessert bar area, so I went there and got a piece of their pumpkin bread pudding - This was outstanding! When served warm, it is something I will now crave!! I just stumbled across this fabulous Italian restaurant. Everything is made from scratch. The atmosphere is lively and the service EXCELLENT. I sat at the bar and Melissa made expert recommendations. I loved everything. I had the asparagus salad (a special) and Cavatelli & Sausage as my entree. The asparagus was perfectly al dente, as was the pasta. The fresh Mediterra bread with olive oil was delicious (the oil was sooo flavorful!). I am too distracted to give a more elaborate review. I believe you could order ANYTHING on this menu and love it. Melissa is the "jamminest" bartender ever (yes, it's a new word and I stand by it... defined as the one who jams the most). I will be back. read more

Good location and street parking all around. The restaurant is open and welcoming. Be sure to make reservations, as it gets busy because the word is out. Everything was very tasty, freshly made on site, and well seasoned. The beans and greens were perfectly made with escarole, white beans, and sausage in a light broth. The gnocchi melt in your mouth and the perfect amount of fresh sauce. Both had light cheese added. The tiramisu was so light and soaked with espresso. Delicious! While I usually prefer haute Italian cuisine, I was pleasantly surprised by LeoGreta's traditional Italian fare. Our waitress was friendly and helpful (and her eyebrows were ON POINT!). I thoroughly enjoyed the Caesar salad (thank you for the extra anchovies!), linguini carbonara, and tiramisu. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, LeoGreta's menu is limited. Don't fret! First visit to this restaurant. We felt very welcomed and you can tell it's a family business. We arrived on Saturday with no reservation but sat at the bar. We were early due to not eating any other meals that day. It was still empty at that time but by the time we left around 6pm it was busy. We had the antipasti platter which was the right size and had great pickled veg as well as three different meats. We also were served bread and oil which was just ok. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs along with manicotti and a side of hot sausage. The pasta itself was cooked perfectly but we both agreed the red sauce was pretty average. My meatball was good but the sausage was very fennel forward which to us wasn't great in the hot version. We'd try the sweet when we go back. The meal was good but not great based on those things. They have a great wine list, and a decent bourbon offering. We had good bourbon cocktails. We got dessert to go, the lemon bar and tiramisu which were both very good when we enjoyed at home later. We will definitely go back, maybe for lunch on patio when it is nicer outside. Overall we like the atmosphere and quality of food even though our entree choices weren't our favorite. People have been recommending this restaurant for ages and I finally was able to try it on my birthday. When the reservation was made it was mentioned that it was my birthday so when we were seated I was wished a happy birthday. Which would have been a nice touch had it not been followed by "just so you know we don't do anything free for birthdays". Overall, though, it was a great dining experience. I loved the atmosphere (in a sucker for restaurants in restored buildings). It felt relaxed and cozy and the tables were spaced far enough apart that you didn't feel crowded. I ordered the seasonal pasta which was corn and cavatelli. I added some spicy sausage to it. My husband has the gnocchi. Both of us loved our entrees. They were packed with flavor and the pasta was prepared perfectly. The one downside is that the portions are small compared to what you might get at other Italian places. There are many wonderful choices, and arguably the best is the coconut cream tart. What a fabulous little quaint place in Carnegie PA that is so inviting as you walk in. It's so cozy and somewhat romantic. The old school Italian authenticity is definitely ingrained into this fabulous establishment. The soups, salads and homemade pastas were beyond phenomenal and the service was A++. Have been wanting to try Leo Greta for a while since it opened, and my husband and I had a great experience last weekend for our anniversary. It's a small restaurant with only a few tables, so a reservation is usually necessary. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive and the staff made us feel welcome. I ordered the special- cavatelli with goat cheese and fresh corn- it was delicious. My husband ordered the gnocchi with meatballs and he said it was the best he'd ever had- gnocchi were pillowy and light instead of dense and heavy. Oh and the dessert! We ordered the dessert sampler and I devoured the tiramisu. (their bakery is next door). I really appreciate places with small menus when the food is that fresh and expertly prepared. First time we have been here in quite a while (it is impossible to get reservations.) We stopped in on a whim and sat at the bar. They have expanded the size of the restaurant 3X+ since our last visit. The new bar area has same cool vibe and a nice selection/ priced reasonably. The menu was similar to the last time we were there. My wife and I started off with olives, burrata, and bean dip appetizers. For the main course my wife had spaghetti and meatball and I had sausage and cavatelli. The portions remain on the small Side, but we both loved our meals. The cherry on top was the new bakery they added. After dinner we walked next door and enjoyed an americano, a lemon bar, and a chocolate mouse pie. They were all spectacular! I don't visit here often enough, but when I do, it's always a fabulous experience. Yesterday was my wife's first time here, as she is gluten-free, and usually avoids pasta-type places. We were in town for the Art walk, and since we were here, we peeked in to see the bakery, as I hadn't been here since it opened. We ran into Chef Greg and he asked if we were eating in, and we told him no, we were just checking out the new bakery. I also mentioned my wife was Gluten-free. Well, then it started pouring down rain, and we changed our mind, and decided to just have some small bites. We ordered the special goat cheese salad, the carrots, and I ordered bread pizza for myself. Well, the food arrived, and guess what... Chef sent out a complimentary tasting of gluten-free pasta for my wife ... it was the special with a sweet corn sauce. Fantastic!! I tasted the pasta and it was delicious (and I'm not the biggest fan of GF pasta). And of course, the salad, carrots and pizza bread were all fabulous too. This place is delicious and you can tell homemade. The food and staff really do reflect the care and love that goes into it. We visited first during covid times and again make recent. I do not have one bad thing to comment on. We have tried the burrata and antipasta starters. I believe between 2 visits our group tried almost the whole menu from gnocchi, carbonate, manicotti, cavatelli/sausage,and meatballs. The desserts are homemade in house as well and they now have a dessert bar coffee shop next door. We tried the Panna cotta, tiramisu and some seasonal items. Heard about this place from a few people. While I usually don't eat Italian out figured give it a try. The waitress Bobbie (sp) was great walked us through the menu. Had heart set on hot sausage until I heard the specials, braised pork ragu. Was pleased with my choice, my girl friend ordered the gnocchi and being fresh she liked them. This review is for the dessert bar. First - it's freaking adorable. I might go back just for the decor alone. But the service was...odd? We went up to the counter, everything looked delicious, and I was trying to pick. I asked one of the women at the counter to help me decide, and she just...nothing. I asked her again and she just stared at me. I said "are you saying neither of them is good?" Still nothing. Anyhow, the other woman said that the one item, banana cream pie, was popular. So I got it. It was, to me, a huge disappointment. An enormous thick crust with a 1/4 inch smear of pastry cream under some whipped cream garnished with a thin slice of banana. No bananas inside it. Odd. I scraped out the filling and left most of the rest. The caramel garnish on the plate tasted scorched. Just a total miss for me. My husband said his cannolis were good. Not great but not disappointing. Anyhow it's cute and I'm not counting it out but it wasn't the best first try. read more

LeoGreta is a cute little restaurant just outside of Pittsburgh. They make all of there pasta from scratch and always have unique specials available daily. They also recently updated their bar and expanded the dining room to accommodate more guests. Highly recommend making a reservation if you are trying to come here on a weekend. But there is usually a few seats available at the bar. read more
