Our server Eleanor was great! Personable, fast and efficient. We hadn't been here in a while & were excited to join friends for their bday dinner. Fried zucchini was good, the lobster ravs were good, but the spinach feta angel hair had zero flavor- just noodles and oil. NO FLAVOR AT ALL. Don't even want it to go, nothing. Union Grill, what a staple of this town! Immediately upon entering you be happy with the "underground mob feel" and the friendly staff. This is a very good Italian restaurant with an awesome bar area. We ordered a little bit of everything, and I've been coming here for years. I always recommend this restaurant for those traveling to Washington. It's not too far off of the interstate for those traveling around, either! We knew it would be busy but decided to make the drive on a Saturday night. They told is 30-35 minutes but we were seated in about half that time. Our server was amazing and attentive. We started with calamari and zucchini, both large portions, fresh and tasty. My husband said his Caesar salad was one of the best he's had. He ordered the veal and asparagus said it was excellent and I had the lobster ravioli(i mixed in some red sauce with the cream sauce) highly recommend. My family and I love coming here and frequently check their Facebook page which is reliably updated on a weekly basis with specials. These are always worth checking out and there is a wide variety of offerings. Hot tip : if it's crab cakes, get them early because they will sell out. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and there's something for everyone. My personal recommendation is make room for the wedding soup, it's the best! I used to live in the Pittsburgh area many years ago. This restaurant is an institution! We always try to stop here when we come to town. There is plenty of parking. When you come in, you'll walk in via the side down because it's in the basement. Do not let that deter you ! It's normally steady. We came on a busy Friday night so we waited about 20 minutes for our table for 6. Our server was super sweet! We ordered a few appetizers including the sautéed greens and beans and fried zucchini. All the appetizers are incredible. For our entrees, we had the linguini fantasy and the daily salmon special. The pasta was very flavorful and there was plenty of seafood. Every bite had seafood in it which is truly all you can ask for. The salmon was cooked and seasoned very well. The only negative I have is they do not have gluten free options. They do offer items that are always gluten free like salmon or grilled chicken but there is no gluten free pasta as an example. 100% recommend coming here . You will not be disappointed! read more

Yesterday was my first time eating at this restaurant. Please note that the restaurant is located in the basement of a building, and I entered through the side of the building. The seating host immediately walked my husband and me to a spacious table. A friendly waitress soon took our orders and brought out our beverages and foods. Throughout the service, they brought us drink refills. I thought that the service was excellent, but the food was overall just OK. My husband described his spaghetti and meatballs as "disappointing." A bonafide Washington, PA landmark- and for good reason! This is a super popular restaurant that deserves the hype. I have dined here more times to count and have never had a bad meal. Favorites with my family are greek pasta, lobster ravioli, pasta arbiatta, veal parm, and chicken romano. They have the best homemade wedding soup, and even the butter that comes with their bread is extra yummy! This is also one of my favorite bars in Washington. Love their cosmo here and this is one of the best places for a martini. This place fills up and does not take reservations, just a FYI. The food is worth the wait! The support staff is great here, always offering to pre-buss your table which I appreciate so much! I will say that I seem to get the same server over and over again who has some trouble keeping up with their section. They offer delicious-looking specials on the weekends and have lunch and dinner features during the week. Union Grill will now be my go-to for seafood since Solomon's is closed. Son in law ordered fried zucchini, and I ordered chicken parm. We were they 15 minutes waiting for our food and it was served cold. Told the waitress who wasn't very friendly, that our meals were cold. So we didn't have to pay for them. So we didn't get to eat. Which we were hungry, we go there often and the food is usually good. For a small town this place isn't half bad. I came in on a Monday and it was crowded. Parking is not good at all but once you move past that there is a lot to choose from on the menu. I ordered the Diablo Chicken and it came out at a good time and it was fine. Nothing to write home about. It felt like it was missing something maybe pasta maybe a grain?
