We average a visit to Lenzi's about once a week. Food is always great. Service is outstanding. Not just the delivery., bit its the little things they do. Like suggesting we split an order as we aren't big eaters. Also, a week ago (they know we love their homemade Mushroom soup, were driving along & get a phone call herring us know they have mushroom soup today. We immedeatly turned around &;headed to Lenzis. Quaint italian restaurant with large portions of comfort classics. The dining room was full service and the lunch crowd turned out the day I was there. I ordered the chicken parmesan with penne for lunch $14 came with side soup or salad and bread. It was more than enough for two lunches for me. The leftovers the next day tasted great! My friends ordered dessert to-go, they could not pass up trying the tiramisu and the strawberry pretzel cake. I don't know how I resisted. Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Absolutely love this restaurant. A shining star for the area. Truly homemade Italian food with great quality, fair prices and enormous portion sizes. It is very, very small inside, so you need to plan out when you go. The wait times to get a seat, however, don't take too long. While everything is fresh, they are very quick with their food and do a good job at being prepped and prepared, so the tables turn over rather quickly. Highly recommend anything they have. You won't be disappointed. My usual go-to's here are any of their soups, their Chicken Marsala, Rigatoni with meat sauce, and their newer steak specials. Ridiculously good steaks--to the extent that you would find in an upper, upper-end steak place. Desserts are phenomenal. Homemade cakes, pies, and now, cannoli's. Been back in area lately and stopped in. Place has been updated and looks nice. Still not enough seating and counter now gone so even less seating so there's usually a wait. But food still good. Prices have gone way up and would be kinda ridiculous if the portions weren't so fair but some entree's are skimpy and definitely overpriced especially for a diner. Appetizers are overpriced. And some of their sides have been cut in half since the last time I was there but the price has gone up. The menu in general hasn't changed at all. Overall the food is good it's just hard-to-swallow dumping close to $100 for lunch for 2 with appetizers and soup in a diner. This is a combination of two reviews as I did not enjoy our meal; my wife did. The restaurant has the atmosphere of a diner. It has about five booths and a few tables. We were seated in a comfortable booth. The napkins are paper. There are no frills here. I had a salad, zucchini planks, veal parmesan, spaghetti, and garlic bread. Soup should have been available as the menu states "soup or salad" comes with entrees, but there was no soup. I found my food to be bland and the spaghetti overcooked. The sauce was ordinary. The zucchini was nothing special. It reminded me of what I have received at some other mediocre restaurants. My wife had a salad, zucchini, three-dish sampler consisting of veal parmesan, cheese-stuffed tortellini, and cheese-stuffed ravioli. She enjoyed everything she had. Three individuals were responsible for serving us at various points. They all did a good job. Our main server was particularly attentive, friendly, and ensured that everything was satisfactory. Our meal came to $55+ without gratuity. It is not a place where I would elect to spend that amount of money, but we may return. read more

So this is an old school Italian diner, and that is cool. It's tiny, dingy, and the door constantly opens and closes with a loud noise resonating throughout the customer dining area because the spring hasn't been reset in quite some time. In that respect, it's quite nostalgic. But then there's the food - not nostalgic in the least. The chicken Parmesan was clearly a freezer to fryer version of the lowest quality. The inside of the "chicken" was clearly a preformed mystery protein mix akin to the chicken McNugget. It smelled bad, it tasted greasy in the wrong way, and I regretted eating it. This restaurant is located behind a main road in the town of Monongahela. We were in the area for a funeral. Lenzis has been in the same location since the 1940's and in the same family. Very cool we thought. The restaurant is small (about ten booths /tables total). Staff are friendly as they tell you to wait outside or in your car until a table is open. There are many people coming in for take out. Our meals were prompt and satisfactory. I would not drive here for this restaurant since besides the desserts- which are dramatically layered and large- the food was not special. We sampled fried zucchini, salads, homemade soup, pasta, meatballs and a chocolate and peanut butter pie. Their sauce is chunky. One of our group had leftovers and chose to thin the sauce with water. Soooooooo good!! But closed Sunday and Monday :( You get either unlimited buttered bread or garlic bread with every meal. Definitely get the garlic bread!!!!! Double standard We had a party of 4 - they wouldn't seat us until we were all there- so two waited at the counter until the other came within minutes - in the meantime two individuals came in and they sat them at a table - then being ignored at the counter we decided to leave - when I called to complain they stated that the reason the she was seated is because she ordered for her party. This family owned gem is definitely a must stop if you're nearby. Take out or dine in the food is consistent. When you enter this small but very charming restaurant you will be greeted by one of the family members that run the place. All of the people working are beyond friendly and have that small town charm you can't find anywhere anymore. I usually order a salad with either chicken or shrimp that always has fries on it, you're in Pittsburgh how can't you have fries?!? All of the food however is solid from the Italian dishes to the sandwiches to the burgers. It never disappoints!!! The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. I agree with folks who say this is a hidden gem in the Monongahela Valley. My wife and her family have been going here for years, but I only visited myself just recently. The portions are beyond generous. You'll take a doggy bag home with and have enough for a meal the next day. The pastas are very good, particularly the gnocchi, which seems to be famous. I think they serve the best meatballs I've ever eaten anywhere. The desserts are all homemade and equally enormous. They seem to have a takeout business every bit as large as the sit-down dining business. That's good, because they only have about a dozen tables in the place. read more
