My niece chose Pizzaz for her belated birthday lunch and I couldn't have been more pleased. My first time here and it won't be my last. We were seated right away and drink orders taken immediately. Erin, our wonderful server, came to welcome us and provide menus. She was so friendly and kind! I had peeked at the menu ahead of time and knew what I wanted to order. We shared a zucchini planks appetizer-they were huge, hot and crispy- the marinara was so good I could have eaten a bowl of it with a spoon! I had the Spinach Salad-I hadn't had one in ages and it was delicious. The hot bacon dressing really made the dish. My niece had Chicken Parm with spaghetti- it was a huge portion and enough for two meals. I ordered a steak hoagie and a quart of wedding soup to take home. There's no scrimping on the amount of meat in the hoagie and the wedding soup is full of shredded chicken. We enjoyed chatting and catching up in the cosy dining room, tunes from the past playing in the background. It made for a wonderful afternoon of great food and fun. The atmosphere was amazing, brought back nostalgia from childhood (Gen X), yet up to date in the same breath. Walked in with 10min to close and tried to apologize and say I would come back, yet the hostess and server said "no problem" with a smile on their face. Made me feel like family vibe. The food (ordered and meat lover and supreme pizzas) was amazing. I told the company that I was with "We need to message Dave Portnoy about this place." It's a really good local bar restaurant. They have an older friendly crowd in the bar and the restaurant side is perfect for families.

I think Pizazz is underrated. I have been coming here since I was a little kid with my grandparents. I think they have some of the best buffalo wings in the south hills of Pittsburgh. The pizza is also amazing. Service at the bar or in the dining room has always been excellent as well. Highly recommend this place! read more

My friend has a medical condition that requires the use of a service dog. She has had training, and wears the requisite harness. Nevertheless, the waitress told us she wasn't allowed and their lawyer said that they could beat the "law" that requires them to allow service animals. I will never go there again. We went here a few days ago, bartender ignored our greeting when we walked in and just stared at us, then proceeded to ignore us for 10 minutes. All in the meanwhile, there were CHILDREN no older than TEN on the gambling machines??? First timer review. Its a older restaurant and nothing flashy or pretentious, very very casual. We sat in the dining room they also have a bar side. Our waitress was beyond pleasant and nice she was very attentive and helpful with the menu. She said they make their dough in house and shred all their own cheese. We tried the homemade breadsticks which were very airy and light. I personally didn't like the marinara sauce that comes with it, but the breadstick was so good you didn't need it! We also tried six of the garlic Parmesan wings. They came out piping hot. They were delicious. I would definitely order those again. For our meals, we had a veggie calzone with the garlic butter baked in, and my fiancé had the meatball calzone with marinara sauce baked in. Both were very good and it was huge. I would definitely go back for pizza and wings and a beer type of place. They also had dinners on their menu. I can't speak to how those are because we went with the recommendation of the waitress. read more

Because our favorite restaurant closes at 3 because they don't have waitstaff, we went to the next closest Italian restaurant. The place is clean, close to home and friendly. What is lacking is the garlic and sauce aroma wafting over my senses. I ordered baked cod with spinach and artichoke and a side of pasta. What I got was poached tasteless cod with steamed spinach and artichoke and tasteless marinara. My spouse ordered lasagna. He generally likes tasteless but this was even lower than that. The food was not bad ; it just wasn't good. I told my daughter about our experience. She told me to only go there for pizza and hoagies. I will return, but only for pizza! read more

Not sure what the 1-star yelpers were expecting, but from being here on and off with my in-laws over the last 20 years; nothing has gone downhill, and this is what a great Italian family restaurant is supposed to be. Was it crowded? Yep, because it's a great place. A little bit loud? Yep, because it's full of families enjoying great food and a great atmosphere. Is this a suit and tie stuffy restaurant? Not a chance. However you can get a 5-star authentic Italian meal just like those places and if you want to wear a suit, they'll still treat you like family. Our food was delicious, plentiful (we left with boxes) and priced right (especially with the current price hikes that the food service industry is paying from their suppliers). I don't live nearby but my family does, and when we're here, we always have a great time with delicious food. And the employees are funny and fast! The old woman who answers the phone to take food orders may be the most horrendous rude and mean person you could possibly have answering the phones at a business. She is the epitome of no class no manners and horrible customer service and a poor representative of the business who is creating a marketing nightmare for this pizza place that really isn't that good anyways. Having such an ignorant old woman who is rude and lacks any sense of dealing with customers is only going to bring this business to an end. Businesses can't operate successfully and will and should fail when you employ bitter despicable people like this old woman who treats customer like garbage. I don't know what happened the food is horrible. It used to be such a great restaurant. I understand it's under new management and what a disappoint in the food. My wrap was cold and sloppy and the fries looked like they were cooked hours ago. They definitely need to make some improvement in the food. I won't be dining here in the near future. read more

I've always wondered about this place every time I'd drive past. I started noticing how busy it always is! Finally gave it a try and I can see why! They have a little bit of everything and the food is consistently good. Our favorites are the wings and stuffed banana peppers. The wings are perfectly prepared every time and they are still good as takeout. They're very crispy and the sauces, especially the stingin' honey, are so good. The banana peppers are stuffed with veal, which make them a little more special than other places. We order from here pretty often and by the looks of their always full parking lot, a lot of other people do too. read more

I disagree with the recent 5 star reviews. Pizzaz is middling--nothing memorable but barely acceptable fare for the price if you need a quick bite. Not particularly food allergy friendly but they do have gluten-free pasta. Service was fine. We did like the Greek vinaigrette but the Fra Diavolo was mediocre. read more

They clearly cater to families and youth sports teams as there is a nice big room, which a youth team was just finishing their get together. This restaurant is close to my Pittsburgh family's place and they said it had good reviews. It was average. We split a salad, pizza, and cheesy bread. Service was ok but not fast. The salad was a lot of cheese and not a lot of greens. The pizza was pretty good. Cheesy bread typical. Better than the chains but not above most independently owned places. My chianti was really not good but that's up be expected at this price point. It got really crowded at the end of our meal and things were still moving very slowly. Another waitress nearby had 12 guest, our waitress had 24 including us our entire visit and she kept getting new customers added to her even while our group was constantly neglected. The pizza at this spot is incredible. We got the Mediterranean pizza with the garlic toast dippers and both were amazing-- would highly recommend! We were recently visiting Pittsburgh. We stopped by this restaurant on a Friday evening, about 7:30 pm. We were seated very quickly. There were two of us & we both ordered calzones: one cheese & one vegetable & I also got a house salad. The calzones took a very long for our dinners to arrive (about 35 minutes). When the food showed up, one of the calzones was the wrong order. They took it back & we waited another 20 minutes for a new calzone. The calzones were very tasty. The salad was well portioned and included chick peas, black olives & was pretty good. The waitress was very nice & she apologized multiple times for the order mixup. A comped soda would have been nice to counter our extreme wait for the food, but that was not to be had. That could/should have been handled a bit better. We would definitely return to the restaurant, even with the hiccup with our order. Nice people & good food. read more

I just recently tried this place because a friend told me the pizza is great. Well, I'm learning that my tastes are much different from my friend's. The restaurant is nothing fancy and I guess you could call it a "family type" place. It does have a bar but I did not sit in there. The staff was also friendly but a bit on the slow side refilling drinks. We had a pepperoni and mushroom pizza and also ordered some wings. I actually liked the wings and thought they were a above average. Unfortunately the pizza was very soggy. If it wasn't for that I would be giving four stars. I'm not going to rule this place out just yet. I think we are going to try some hoagies next time. I saw several people eating them and they looked really good. read more
