I was extremely disappointed with the Mother's Day brunch experience this year. My family and I had visited before and absolutely loved the atmosphere and food, which is why I encouraged my family to celebrate here for Mother's Day. Unfortunately, this visit was nothing like our previous experiences. This was not a cheap brunch, yet it lacked some of the most basic brunch offerings -- no omelet station, no waffles, pancakes, or the variety that was offered in the past. The food overall was very disappointing and nowhere near worth the price. What made it even worse was the dessert area. Once desserts ran out, they were never refilled, and several members of my family never even had the chance to try them. For the amount charged, this is unacceptable. I even asked the host about the omelet station they used to offer and was told it was removed because the lines would get too long. That is not a good excuse. Other brunch places like Grand Concourse still manage to offer omelet stations, waffle stations, eggs, meats, and much more at a similar or even lower price point. I left embarrassed and disappointed after recommending this place to my family for such a special occasion. Sadly, we will not be returning, and I would not recommend this brunch experience to others looking for a quality Mother's Day celebration. read more

This place only gets one star because of the facility ambiance. The food was horrible! Wedding soup was beef broth based with way too much pepper, green beans weren't cooked, red potatoes were dry. I gave 3 stars to be kind. The event was supposed to be around noon. Guests arrived and staff brought out those containers they store glassware in full of glasses of water and ice. Then proceeded to wheel the trolley around as they put the water on the tables. People had to continuously ask if there was anything else to drink as it was not readily available. Tables were not preset. The presentation of the food. Imagine an all you can eat buffet style without the all you can eat. The food was not hot, the bread seemed to be from prior. Now the bill, can anyone tell me what a production cost is? Added 22% to the food bill and when asked we were told it was to pay the workers and did NOT include a gratuity and would we please add to the bill. Beautiful venue. I have never attended an event at Bella Sera, but I've been there a few times for lunch and always think is so pretty inside. They have a lunch buffet for $13.99, I think, that includes soup, salad, usually some type of pasta, vegetables, rolls, a few different options for protein, as well as dessert, coffee & tea. It's a little pricy for lunch, but you get a lot for your money. The staff is friendly and it's never very busy. Parking is super easy since they have a parking lot & it's a short drive from southpointe. If you work in the area & have never been to Bella Sera for lunch, I highly recommend it! read more

We recently had our friends shower here this weekend and everything went so well. From the beginning Lauren was a pleasure to work with. She was so helpful and accommodating. The service that was provided was amazing. We loved the fruit and cheese platter that was setup as our guest arrived and the lunch was delicious. It was so nice that they had 3 different rooms for us to choose from and the small room was perfect for our 24 person shower. The shower went very smoothly and I can't say enough good things about this venue. read more

The food was amazing and it's gorgeous!! The staff was awesome! We was here for a retirement party! It was incredible! There's nothing bad about this place! The chicken the beef the creamy mashed potatoes and Omgoodness the salad dressing is awesome! Try the vinaigrette wow I could have liked the plate lol!! The bruschetta appetizer makes you go mmmmmm Omgoodness the flavor!! If you want gorgeous and amazing go here for sure!! I'm not a big eater and couldn't stop! From the time you enter into the parking lot the place is spectacular. The covered door entry makes its easy to unload and stay dry in bad weather. If it isn't nice outside the blue sky painted ceiling will make you forget its yucky outside. No matter what size your affair both rooms are exquisite! The staff is fabulous and accommodating. I attended an intimate wedding reception at the Bella Sera over the weekend. It was a gorgeous setting. The room we were in was upstairs and it was small but perfect for the size of the company. The food was a lot. Huge portions and more than we could eat. The beef Marsala was good although not my particular favorite and the chicken Romano also good. Loved the salad and rolls and the appetizers were arranged so neatly. We did sit around a bit without refills on our water but if that's the worst then not so bad. They have a private parking lot out front. We also peeked in to the larger room on the first level and it was gorgeous! read more

Amazing venue for pretty much any occasion especially a gypsy wedding!

My husband and I attended a wedding here recently. We stayed in downtown Pittsburgh and took a shuttle to/from the venue. This venue is gorgeous--the high ceilings and rustic Italian decor was beautiful. The staff were friendly as well. There is an upstairs area for the bridal party to get ready, and we hung out there with the bridal party before the wedding. This area was a useful staging area and had lots of rooms as well, allowing for both the bridesmaids and the groomsmen to have different areas. The food during the wedding was good but not great. They had a photo booth and cookie bar, which were both awesome. There were also late bites of pizza and wings, which was nice. Overall a beautiful wedding! I'm giving only 4 stars instead of 5 because of the remote location--it was a 30-45 minute drive from where we were in Pittsburgh, which was hard for some of the out of town wedding guests unless they caught the shuttle that the wedding party arranged. It was not accessible via public transit, and the cabs were pretty pricey--$30-$60. read more

While I've never attended a wedding or special event at Bella Sera I've had the opportunity to dine at their bistro during their Mother's Day buffet several times. Highlighted as one of the best brunches in the city, I have to say that while the food here is certainly good I don't really understand the hype. Well, ok, I take that back. I partly understand the hype. The food here honestly is pretty good. I've been able to enjoy tasty soups, make-your-own-salad bars, fresh bread, a range of chicken and potato options, fluffy crabcake bites, an omelet station, a carving station and a range of decadent desserts while eating here. So yeah, there's lots of food to enjoy here. Here and there I see room for improvements in the recipes but overall I can't complain - and it's nice to know that places like this are working with local businesses whenever they can, so that's a plus. I think part of the reason I have a hard time appreciating Bella Sera despite its mouth-water food is that my dining experiences here have always been negatively affected by the service I've experienced. Bella Sera may be a buffet, but tables still need to be cleared and drinks still need to be refilled. Unfortunately this need often goes frustratingly unrecognized for long stretches of time when my family eats here. Normally at buffets this isn't a major deal - we'd just stack our plates and go refill our own drinks. But Bella Sera doesn't have drink dispensers and their tables for four leave no room for anything except for our silverware and the plate in front of us; as a result we usually just wait for our plates to be removed before we dare to venture back to the buffet. As for refills...during our last visit we eventually just gave up on flagging down our waitresses and started refilling our own water glasses using the pitchers sitting on the serving trays along the walls. Sigh. What else can I say? For all of my frustrations with the service here the food here is pretty good. I think Bella Sera's a-ok; they're worth at least one visit and a fair chance - then you can decide based on your own experience how you feel about Bella Sera! read more

I have given Bella Sera 5 stars because they did such a wonderful job for my daughter's wedding on May 10, 2014. From the "Signature Drink" that my daughter created with their help to a wonderful dinner with appetizers beforehand everything was perfect. Bella Sera's recommendations for vendors were very good- we ended up using 2 and were very pleased. The venue is absolutely beautiful and romantic. The banquet manager, Lauren, was fantastic and nothing but helpful. The wait staff, bartenders, etc were great- the food was delicious and served HOT! We had never been to Bella Sera but had heard good things about it. When we saw they were offering a brunch for Easter we decided to go. When I called to make reservations they asked for my credit card number. I've NEVER been asked for that information before. It made me uncomfortable but I have it. We received a call the Friday before Easter that said you had to cancel by Friday at 5 or you would be charged if you were a no show. At $35 a person you definitely don't want to pay that price if you can't be there. I thought $35 a person was steep but I thought the food was going to match the price. I was wrong. We knew going in that we were going to sit in the upstairs room. That meant climbing stairs or using the elevator to get to the main room. I wasn't thrilled about it until we got to the venue. The main floor had very little room to move. People were packed in like sardines. We had a lot more room where we were sitting. We had two servers but they must of had tables downstairs also as we rarely saw them. They were nice but we weren't really served. When we would actually see our server we would ask for drink refills. When we would finally get them the ice would be melted. As for the food, we were extremely disappointed. We visited the Entree table first. There was waffles, syrup, and a fruit topping. There was a pasta, a potato, some Italian sausage to name a few things. Nothing stood out. I took some of the potatoes and pasta. We then went to the table where the meats were served. They had roasted vegetables which I took some of along with turkey. I didn't get a slice of turkey. I got a scoop full of turkey pieces/crumbles. Before we went upstairs we stopped by the huge dessert table. I grabbed a couple of cannolis. We wet upstairs to eat. None of us were impressed with the food. It was definitely NOT worth $35 a person. Two of us didn't finish what we had much less go back for more food. Two people in our party went back down to try different foods but were still disappointed. If I pay $35 for a meal I expect a $35 meal. I have paid $17-20 for better food. I dined here for the first time today, 23 February 2015, for the weekday lunch buffet. I deeply regret that I did not discover this gem sooner: what a place! The structure and interior are beautiful and the restaurant is spacious and comfortable. There is plenty of complimentary parking in a large lot in front of the facility. The buffet is $13.99: pricey for this area, but you get what you pay for; it is simply superb. There is something for every taste. Today's selection included a small, but choice salad bar with exotic greens (I would love to see fresh mushrooms, chopped egg, bacon bits, chicken salad, and cole slaw added), ham and lentil soup, two types of chicken, including a delicate chicken romano, garlic mashed potatoes, soft and nicely seasoned Italian meatballs in sauce, a small tube pasta in a cream sauce, and green beans almondine with shredded carrots, small slices of cakes, including black forest and lemon, and a large bowl of fresh fruit, which included strawberries, pineapple, blackberries, raspberries, and melon. Service was offered by two ladies, both of whom were attentive. Plates were cleared and water with lemon served and refilled. A quality check was performed. I appreciated the attention, particularly as the restaurant was hit with a large group for a bereavement luncheon as I was coming in. I would suggest that cloth napkins should be offered at a restaurant of this stature. A small paper napkin is out of place here. I would have thought that I was dining at a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton hotel, which is high praise. In a word, Bella Sera is "class". It makes for a memorable day. read more

We actually booked this venue sight unseen as we live in California. We had trust in all of the reviews we have seen and knew that this would be the right place for us. Once we saw and met the team we'd be working with for our big day, we knew 100% that we had made the right decision. Lauren, Rachel and Erin were and are so very helpful in all of our decision making. We cannot say thank you enough to not only this venue- but also the staff and vendors here that we chose to work with. Everyone was always very accommodating, helpful, and our questions were always quick to be answered. Ourselves and our guests can't say enough about how terrific the food was. My family and I came here for Easter brunch. We had reservations. When we arrived, we found out that we didn't have a table. We were supposed to be upstairs at table 5, but there wasn't a table 5. We told the lone server upstairs but she said "tell the people downstairs, that's not my problem ". That immediately made the situation worse. We went downstairs to talk to someone and they eventually created a table. The server proceeded to ignore us. It took us forever to get any drinks, just as long to get refills and she generally ignored us. The was another girl, who couldn't have been more than 12, was upstairs. The server kept pointing at our table and scowling. The food was great but the service was so poor and rude that it ruined the day for us. I called to give them some feedback and the owner screamed and hollered at me that he didn't get up this morning to please me. I would never step foot in the restaurant again. First I'll start with the positive part the food was good but that's really it, the service was horrible because the lady that was serving our table was was no were to be found with the drinks that we ordered even though it was a buffet and it should of had a a fountain that poured out the drinks but no they did not have that but to get back on topic the drinks took at least ten minutes to get a refill and then the food oh the food, I have to admit that the food was good as I said In the beginning but finding the food was so hard because when it's a buffet it should be all in one spot but it was all over the place and when I went to go get some food all the people around me said that this was so unorganized and some people thought it was the thought it was the salad bar and it was out of control and a other thing that was on my mind was that you should not sit every body at once and that when I walked around side ways and an other thing is that when one of my friends who ordered an orange juice and it took fifteen minutes and they said that it was made but it taste like true Tropicana and they should not lie and own up to it that it took a long time and on to the deserts, I thought that the majority of the deserts was in the same place but at first I thought it was but then I came to the table and then my uncle came with a piece of a cake and I asked him where he got it and then he told me that he caught it with his nick of his eye then he told me that it was in the middle of the stair well and I thought to myself how are people going to find this on there own even I had a little trouble finding it my self even though he told me were it was. After all of that it was the one of the worst holiday eatings i have had and I even got sick on one of them but at least the service was good so this as pretty bad and if I come there again it will be better. read more
