My wife and I had there roast beef at a graduation party and it was the best we have eaten. Fast forward a few years my family was having a get to gather and we needed to have something different to eat. We called the number we seen in there add and the lady answered and she was so helpful and kind to us. She sent us to their store on Steubenville pike where we could pick up the meat frozen ready to serve later in the week. We've been coming here for over 5 years, have had our share of good and bad experiences, but tonight was unlike any other. Not only were we greeted with completely incompetent service, but the male staff member had the audacity to hang up on my wife who was simply trying to get things made right, but not before he knowingly admitted to providing us with bad food (completely inedible). He also hung up on me, but I clearly hurt his feelings after the way he disrespected my wife. I encourage all of you to reconsider giving your money to this establishment. At a workshop and received box lunch from Cooked Goose. The sandwich was huge with thick dense bun. I have never seen a bun that big! The bun was so dry it crumbled apart. It was awful. Another person in my group got a wrap in her box, she had to take it apart due to the wrap being soggy. I have been to parties where Cooked Goose catered and the hot foods were delicious. It started out as good/easy service with placing the order. Then it went down hill. I emailed to adjust the # of veggie/turkey sandwiches ordered (in the time allowed time frame) no response. When I called to confirm, they realized their mistake in cost per person miscalculation (apparently under 30 people is extra $1) They were going to pass their mistake along to me, not my error. It was a brief fight over the phone, but they did not charge me. Upon pick up,they gave me the wrong order, charged my CC before they realized it. Then charged my CC presented AND my CC on file from placing my order. (I was double charged). Now, just waiting for the refund to process. Pictured/stated on their site is a BOX lunch, it is actually brown bag with handles. While the presentation was ok, the box appeared nicer. This may not seem like a big deal, but when you have space set on a table for box meals, bags take up more room, this caused a little shuffling to make room on the table. The turkey sandwich was huge and tasty however the lettuce was still on the stocks. The chicken salad was actually dried roasted chicken strips with no dressing but with lettuce and tomato. read more

We ordered 2 roast beef dinners at the Express last week. When I got home and took the dinners out of the bags, I was given 1 roast beef dinner with wrong sides and 1 stuffed cabbage dinner also with wrong sides. We considered driving back to Oakdale but it was too far and we were too tired after working all day. It was very disappointing. The stuffed cabbage was not nearly as good as the roast beef. I don't understand what was so difficult about packaging 2 of the same dinners. When I called the next day to speak to a manager, I was told there was nobody to talk to since they are on vacation for a week. Poor service, poor customer service. Cabbages were mediocre at best. After having this food at a birthday party in the spring, my husband booked them for my own birthday just last week at a local winery. The setup couldn't have been better and people raved about the food. The meatballs are to die for!!! People were also saying the squash vegetables were the best they've ever had! My dad recently was diagnosed with celiacs disease and we didn't have to alter the menu much to accommodate gluten free -he was also very pleased with everything he ate. We had lunch delivered at work today. The stuffed chicken was bland and tasteless. The stuffing was mushy and again, bland and tasteless. The green beens on the side were overcooked and totally wilted. They were tasteless. The almonds too done. The "roasted" potatoes were way overcooked to the point they almost disintegrated and had nothing roasted about them. The potatoes were bland too. I originally planned to have my baby shower at a restaurant on Mt. Washington, but due to COVID I felt safer moving it to my house. Upon calling Cooked Goose, I immediately felt taken care of. My plan was to have them deliver enough food in one delivery that would last 2 sessions of visitors to keep numbers low. Debbie quickly told me having 2 full deliveries of fresh food would be a better option and said it would be no issue at all. The process was seamless and communication was excellent. I ended up changing one of my entrees about a month out, and although I felt bad about it, the team assured me it was no issue at all and if I needed to change anything else, just let them know. The day of, both delivery drivers reached out providing ETAs and again, communication was excellent. They quickly set everything up beautifully and were on their way before guests arrived. The food was hot and delicious and I received so many compliments on it. I cannot express how happy I am with this company. The communication, ease to work with, and timeliness on a day that was so important to me was amazing. I used The Cooked Goose Catering Company for the first this week for an event for 20 people. The delivery was on time. Scott was personable and delightful as he set up. The food was hot and delicious! We had the roast beef, Alfredo chicken pasta, mashed potatoes, green beans almandine, salad and rolls. They sent the plates and set up and butter. I would definitely use them again. I thought their price was very reasonable. If you need a caterer for a small party or a large one, give them a call. They have a really good variety on the menu. Catering for Thanksgiving - overpriced. Close to $400 for turkey, crappy rolls, green beans & mashed potatoes - that's it! Turkey is old, had gizzards, neck pieces, etc. disgusting! Will never order from them again - had to purchase extra turkey breast because there wasn't enough food for the amount we catered for. Plan on telling others about how bad it is. From the first contact with Debbie Sgro, who is kind, helpful and very accommodating, to the delivery people who are again, kind and extremely helpful, this company goes out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. Now to the most important part of this review, the food. Every single time we have had an event catered, the food has been consistently amazing! Whatever you do, order the roast beef, trust me! I have seen nothing but raving reviews on their site, so I am wondering if those are the only ones they post or if I am the only one to post something negative. I ordered a $200 "cold" pickup for Christmas dinner to be picked up on Christmas Eve, "about 12 p.m. per Cooked Goose. We had a family emergency with a hospitalization and we did not remember to pick up until approximately 2:00. We called them and there was no answer. My husband arrived in the area of 2:00 and they were already closed. I emailed them to explain our circumstances and no one responded. I called today, the 28th of December and spoke to someone who said they would have thrown the food away so there was nothing they could do about it. Used them for our wedding. WONDERFUL!!!!! Everyone has been commenting on how good the food was for two weeks!!! For a flat rate, $25, we could get all the samples of what they had and come back as many times as we wanted. Each sample was enough for two. They also offered a kids menu at a reduced price per. I can't say enough about The Cooked Goose! I used them for a surprise birthday party and EVERYONE raved about the food. I got the roast beef and fried chicken. I actually ordered ten extra servings just to be safe (wasn't sure how many people were actually going to make it) and I didn't even get a piece of chicken because everyone loved it so much! The roast beef was so tender and delicious, you could cut it with a plastic fork! Everyone went back for seconds and thirds! Absolutely awesome. Debbie was awesome too! So understanding and nice when I called her once to change the amount of food and another time to change the delivery time. I can't say enough about this place. This is the fourth year our company has used The Cooked Goose for our holiday party. We planned our entire day around the fact that we knew they would be late because they had been late all four years. This year they were over 45 minutes late, putting our schedule even more behind than we expected. They provided food for about 100 people and only sent one person to set up. That one person also forgot the dressing for the salad, dips for the chicken and also sternos so the roast beef was not hot at all. We used their services for our wedding after referrals from family members. When we taste tested the food everything was amazing and we could not wait. The day of our wedding not only were the staff extremely late, but the food was freezing cold, not even luke warm. Not only that, but the chicken marsala was horrible. Nothing like we tried, it was more like boiled chicken soaked in cold broth. One of the girls working even stated the food wasn't put in the oven until late in the day so that's why it was cold... After all of this the only thing we were offered was some credit, so at least we got something but it completely put a damper on our day. Our family will never use them again. I never leave bad reviews but months later and I still feel sick about it and don't want others to go through the same thing.
