Wine flight - 4 2 oz. pours for $25
Jacki B.

Apericena is a classy and intimate wine bar. The decor is sleek and trendy, with a bit of a romantic vibe. They offer any kind of wine you could ever want - served by the glass or by the bottle. They even have a couple beer options if wine isn't your thing. We decided to get the wine flight with four pours, so that we could try a few different wines. We chose 2 whites and 2 reds and enjoyed them all! Some of the wine options are more pricey, but they also have more affordable options, too. There's truly something for every taste and every budget. The only down side is their hours. As other reviews have mentioned, they have strange hours that are very limited. I had tried to stop by a couple times before this visit, and they had been closed each time.

a platter of cheese, crackers, crackers, and grapes - A cheese and charcuterie board includes an assortment of cheeses, cured meats, green grapes, crackers, and a spread in a small metal container. The cheeses vary in shape and color, with some cut into cubes and others in larger blocks. The cured meats are rolled and placed on the board. Crackers are arranged around the cheeses, and a bunch of green grapes is positioned in the center. A small metal container holds a spread or mustard. Tongs are visible at the top of the image, suggesting the board is ready for serving.

I have long been awaiting trying Apericena since my friend moved to the area, and last night did not disappoint! We were there when they opened at 5 and were the only ones there. It was such a lovely experience. We started with wine flights. I did red and she did white. We both loved our respective flights, and then we ended the evening with a glass of Prosecco. We also ordered the signature charcuterie board and the Italian flatbread. I really enjoyed both of those, but they weren't as good as the wine. What I loved is that when we wanted to order dessert, although they don't offer dessert, they let us go grab from Everything Bundt Cakes and Duck Donuts (in the same plaza) and bring it back to the restaurant!! How fun. We will definitely be making this a new staple spot.

A wooden cheese and charcuterie board features an assortment of cheeses, sliced meats, crackers, green olives, nuts, and dried fruit. A glass of red wine is partially visible in the foreground, with the drink filling most of the glass. The setting appears to be a restaurant or wine bar, with a white table surface and a blurred background.

I love this place! Regular live music and fantastic wine selection with very knowledgeable staff. Get the Spanish charcuterie its the best ;)

Signature Charcuterie Board - A wooden charcuterie board displays sliced cured meats, cheeses, a bunch of red grapes, round crackers, and a small metal dish of mustard with seeds. A person wearing a light-colored sweater is reaching towards the board, which is set on a table. The background is blurred, indicating an indoor dining setting.

My wife and I have been looking for a good date spot in the South Hills, and we were so happy with Apericena for our date night! The ambiance is amazing...it's exactly what you'd want a wine bar to be. We did not feel at all like we were in the middle of the suburbs. We tried both of their featured wine flights and their signature charcuterie board. Every wine featured on the flights was approachable, with a nice variety. The charcuterie was just what we were looking for. As expected, it was not a cheap date. For 18 oz of wine and one charcuterie board, we were in for over $70, but the service, food, and wine were all great. Would definitely recommend!

Great spot for wine, flatbreads, and charcuterie boards. Large menu of various wines offered by glass, bottle, or flight. Prices listed on menu. Staff well educated on wine. Cute outdoor seating, life music!

It was creamy without being heavy, tasted very authentic, and the noodles were homemade. You could tell a lot of care went into it. We also had the pizza bread, which was perfect to share and really well done. They do simple things with really good ingredients and with care from what I gathered I ordered the Dubai chocolate martini and it was really good too. There were a lot of good drink options so I'd imagine there's something for everyone My family had the onion and mushroom soup and loved it as well. Everything that came out was just consistently great. They change the menu often, which I really appreciate, and everything tastes fresh and high quality. You can tell they use good ingredients and actually care about execution. I would absolutely go back and recommend it without hesitation.

We tried to make a reservation but nothing was available. My friend insisted on putting our name on a standby list and the restaurant was extremely excited to call us with a cancellation, which they said rarely happens. I was excited to introduce my friends to this spot! Our party was not the easiest as we have a few dietary restrictions, like one GF person and one vegetarian. We wanted a few of the starters and noticed that getting the antipasto might be the most cost-efficient way. My friend asked if we might have all the meat on one plate and the veggies on another to be considerate of the vegetarian (me) and they nicely accommodated that request. The GF friend was excited to order a Dubai chocolate martini as she thought she would be getting these flavors without the dough she can't have, but it came around the rim and sprinkled in the drink and she had to send it back, which they also quickly accommodated. They also had several mocktails on the menu, really nice options made with NA spirits. I ordered one of these. I usually get the gnocchi here but on this visit they had a pasta special with corn that was like a taste of just-ended summer and I went with that. It was delicious and my friends enjoyed their meals as well. There is a dessert bar next door but service on this night was taking an extremely long time so we didn't get into any desserts. Service on this particular visit was not quite what I've been used to on previous visits overall, and one of my friends mentioned it afterward to the GM who was very accountable and responsive. He had also stopped by to personally check on us during our meal, and it's nice to get a sense that a place genuinely cares about your customer experience. I will continue to come back.

We were warmly greeted by Todd and Gina, the owners, who couldn't have been friendlier. Todd told us all about their wines, including the awards they've won, especially in California, and generously offered us the chance to try any of the wines at no cost. We started with the Gruner Veltliner, a bright, citrusy, and crisp wine. It was extremely dry compared to other Gruners we've had, which are usually more fruit-forward, but it was still quite enjoyable. Next, we tried the Riesling, which was also very good. My wife moved over to the semi-sweet side and tried the Traminette, which I eventually sampled after trying all the dry wines. We both really liked it. I then tried the Cabernet Franc, which was a medium-bodied wine with notes of raspberry, blueberry, and a light mocha oakiness--delicious! The Chambourcin was also quite good, without the typical bite or tartness. Lastly, the Flagship Red, a classic Bordeaux-style dry red, had a pleasant hint of pepper and was definitely a standout. Todd shared that they exclusively offer wines from Stony Run Vineyards in Breinigsville, PA, which has a wide selection. They're also planning to offer Old Fashioneds soon, as their winery includes a distillery, and they'll be featuring a "drink of the week" as well. What really sets this place apart, though, is Todd and Gina themselves. They're genuinely kind people who are dedicated to the community, and it was heartwarming to learn that they both served in the US Military--Todd in the Navy and Gina in the Air Force. We're already looking forward to our next visit when we're in the area again. Don't forget to thank them for their service when you stop by!

Orbis is well known for its dirty chai, so we grabbed an iced dirty chai latte and a vanilla oatmilk latte (our constant to rank the passport cafes). The coffee was solid. I love that they offer to serve it in real glasses and mugs... there is something so relaxing about not drinking out of paper and plastic. The food will make us come back. The quiche had such a flaky crust and they heat it up just right. The cookie had chunks of dried apricot with white chocolate chips and the rolled it in sugar for the extra crunch. Hard to pick a favorite, but I'd say my least favorite thing was the bacon-wrapped dates (I just don't eat dates very much). I was a little disappointed in the size of the empanadas, I'm used to eating bigger ones from other restaurants, but they were still very tasty! The food came out fast and was super fresh! Our main server Becca was funny, relatable, and really made this such a fun experience! She also treated us to the sangria chug (not sure if that's the official name but that's what I'm calling it lol).
