I was so excited to try this place as the last time I was in Northern Ireland, I had some of the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. I saw some Youtube blogs that recommended this place, so I went ahead and bookmarked it. Unfortunately, this place did not hit the spot. The price is affordable and the actual fish is ginormous, but that's about it. The fish was dry and the "chips" were unremarkable. I think their gimmick comes from all of the celebrities that have stopped by here before. Think of it like Pink's Hot Dogs (except Pink's Hot Dogs in my eyes is actually delicious).
Disappointing. I should have read reviews first. Undercooked fish tastes doughy. Fries undercooked as well.
Meh. Got talked into the smoked cod. Can't say what they smoked it with, but the smokiness was overpowering and not particularly pleasant. Also soggy.
Walking in the place was not busy at all. Very friendly service. The staff seemed to enjoy themselves as the techno music played. Was super excited to try this place because of the reviews on YouTube. The cod fish and chips was about 18€. The portion initially looks huge, but a lot of it is the fries, which were not great. They were dry, unseasoned and tasted like they had been sitting for a little while. The fish was good at first. The edges were crispy and nice. But the rest of the breading was a little soggy and separated from the fish. Breading and fish also lacked seasoning. Glad I tried, but wouldn't come back.
Classic fish and chips that don't have any flavor but the cod is good. I'm sure I'm paying a premium eating in temple bar square area of Dublin, but I don't think it was worth it. The service is okay. Really quiet on a Saturday night.
Simple, straight-forward menu. Priced as expected for fish in a touristy area(15,99 euros for huge fish slab and chips-aka fries). Wrapped in paper if you grab them to go or served up in plastic baskets if you opt to eat in the small dining area. Open until 4 am (at least on Fridays) and the food we got was fresh (we watched them prepping it for the fryer) and comes out pretty quickly. Don't pay for additional sauces, as they provide a TON of packets of ketchup, malt vinegar, and tartar for dipping. Friendly but sassy service and we laughed watching the elderly worker joke and flirt unabashedly with a group of middle-aged women grabbing a bite. It made for great entertainment while we ate our hot and perfectly fried fish (cod) and chips (AKA...fries). The pieces of fish were enormous and flavorful, especially paired with the tartar and malt vinegar sprinkled on top of that and the fries. The fries were awesomely crispy and hot and were the steak fry variety. Based on the reviews, it seems like timing is key. We came right at opening time, which may account for our super fresh food. We would definitely come back here. It was pricey but so dang good.
From what I read online, this place is a must for fish and chips. I don't eat fish, but my friend got the fish and chips and just said they were okay. I had the chicken tenders, and they were okay. The chips (fries) however, weren't very good. I don't know if it was because of the oil they were fried in or what the ketchup (seems different in Ireland) - or both, but something seemed off. Overall, we were a little disappointed.
Catching up on Yelp reviews as I visited this location of Leo Burdock back in October. Leo Burdock is rated as one of the best fish n chips place in Dublin. I visited on a Saturday night around 6pm before the Ireland Rugby match in the World Cup and there was no line. It's a small place with some seating in the back. The vibe was definitely fast food/cheap eats and it smelled really good. They give you tartar sauce and ketchup. There is vinegar at the table and they bring the food to you. I ordered the Smoked Cod & Chips, Coke, water, and some garlic sauce. The cost was about €20. The fish was huge and they give you a ton of chips. I thought the fish was good. It was super crispy and it had decent flavor. The fries were not that good though and they needed to be crispier. I liked the garlic sauce, but it just came in some package. I thought it would have been house-made or something. I thought the workers were friendly and the food was cooked to order very quickly. I didn't like that I had to cut the fish with a plastic fork and knife as that made it very hard to cut. I think it would be good to have actual silverware or better plastic. Overall, I thought Leo Burdock was a ok! Although I definitely enjoyed my fish n chips at The Fish Box in Dingle a lot better. I actually consider fish n chips to be a very bland meal (almost like drunk food) and I don't expect too much from it. It's more about the crispiness of the fish, portion size, and chips for me. I think that the chips could definitely be improved as they needed to be crispier. If you want a quick bite and you are craving fish n chips, then I think Leo Burdock is a good choice, but you can probably find better options. It definitely hit the spot!
Service was the highlight of this trip. I would give more stars to service alone but the food was that disappointing. I'm really sad about this one. I wanted a great fish and chips meal. This place was recommended by a local so I was pumped thinking my resource was a good one. I had the smoked cod with chips. The fish was so over cooked it was almost as hard as the breading. The breading fell right off (as if it had never been fried in the first place). The chips were soggy and had way too much salt to even digest. The garlic sauce was decent. I was so disappointed I couldn't even finish my meal. Not worth the price or the suffering of my taste buds. However, the saving grace- the service. Very friendly and hospitable staff in here! They made sure everyone was having a good time. Greeted every single person upon entering. While that was admirable, it's not enough for me to come back. This place was busy the entire visit. I'm assuming the touristy area helps keep foot traffic in here. With so much competition around, this place could use some improvements.

Everyone says that you MUST try the fish and chips while in Ireland. Our tour guide said that this was the place to go while we were in the area, so my travel partner and I checked it out. The service was impeccable-friendly, welcoming and even entertaining. The man who took our orders and then delivered it to the table did so with a jovial little dance-I love seeing people enjoy their jobs. The fish was just ok-I was hoping for a little more flavor, but it was kind of bland. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be and I'm just used to a little more spices? Either way, I'd still return just for the pleasant experience. read more

Avoid this location unless you're hungover and it's the closest place to stagger to. The employees don't look happy, the food definitely doesn't make me happy, and the atmosphere is nonexistent. The fish and chips were soggy and the condiments in tube form didn't help. There's no value here and you're better off at Hanley's Cornish Pasties nearby or Zaytoon down the street. read more

For all the hype and popularity surrounding Leo Burdocks we had to give it a shot. However, I can't recommend going here. The Fish and Chips were soggy after immediately getting our food. The portion size is great but flavor is lack luster and the sogginess doesn't help. They usually wrap your order in paper then throw it in a bag. So I would highly recommend eating it right away if you do give it a shot. They have multiple locations in downtown Dublin if you want to give them a shot. read more

Best fish n chips I've had! Super fresh and super delicious. I have never had fish n chips like this before being from California, I've only know long John silvers type of fish n chips I will never eat long John silvers again and I will always crave the real fish n chips in Ireland now. The service was fast and friendly. Restaurant was located in a great spot and the inside was cozy. There's not much else to say other than, try it and you won't regret it! Thumbs up! read more
It's a famous tourist trap, you can see all the advertising about it out front that's over 100 year old and so many celebrity have been here. It might be great before but it was definitely not worth the money I got here around 7pm, the whole place was empty I thought I was too early. Ordered their most popular fish and chips. The fish was blend and the batter was not all the way cooked. Fries are not crispy at all, you will need to put a lot of seasoning to actually taste some flavor. Portion is big but really can't finish because it's lack of flavor. One table with an old couple walked out and returned their food and complained it was not good. Give a good service one star tho. But I really don't recommend no matter how famous it is read more
We have to make a stop at this popular place. Alas I am disappointed with the fish as it was tasteless and soggy. I have to soak with with the tartar sauce, but that hardly made a difference. I was expecting more based on all the hype and tour bus community endorsements. The service was friendly though. read more

Service was poor they would barely speak too you. Your order was an inconvenience. Food is totally overated, wrapped in paper so in less than 5 minutes is a hot pile of mushy potatoes and fish. Not worth the money spend extra five Euros and go to a nice restaurant who has service and.can serve crisp fish. Leo's YUCK! read more

Multiple Uber drivers have all recommended this place for the best fish n chips in Ireland. Sadly the fish wasn't freshly cooked and came out of a warmer. The breading was soft and tasted like it had been sitting for a while. The fries (chips) were nice and fresh though. The fish was decent sized and had to pay extra for tarter sauce and a garlic dipping sauce. It did some with free packets of ketchup that were really good. Didn't have high fructose corn syrup like the American version. Quite impressed with that. Over all probably not in the top 10 of fish n chip places in the UK. Maybe the same restaurant in Christchurch is awesome according to the Yelp reviews. read more

My wife boasted about this place from her last visit to Dublin YEARS ago. My thinking is this place probably has new management or something because it was very disappointing. First the man taking our order had an attitude problem. Instead of talking he would point very adamantly and if you don't get what he's trying to tell you he talked very harshly to you. The wall is littered with history and brags about celebrities that have eaten there but it once again tells me it used to be something. The food itself was average at best. The fish was good but they don't salt it at all. The chips were horrid though. They barely give you and condiments for them too. My wife said they used to make their garlic dipping sauce but now they're served in condiment packets. The fish n chips are so much better in the UK. I feel sorry for the tourist who say it's the best they've ever had. They've never had proper ones. This place is a tourist trap living off its old glory. It's better than the terrible ones in the states but a lot less tasty as the ones in the UK. Almost forgot about the ridiculous price. 17,50€ for one fish and an order of nasty chips. read more

Meh. Just ok. We had heard good things but the cod & chips didn't live up to the hype. The fish was tender and flaky, but overall everything lacked flavor even after adding salt & malt vinegar. read more

I was told to visit this place while in Dublin on vacation. Being from Buffalo, NY where fish frys (same as fish and chips) are a common staple, I do like a good fish fry and figured I'd try. It was delicious but nothing spectacular. The fish and chips at home are just as good. The fish was crispy and tasted made to order and came out quickly (opposite from what others are saying on their reviews). The ketchup is interesting as another reviewer noted. Staff were friendly. If you want fish and chips, this is a good place to go. If you can get fish and chips elsewhere and don't need to have it, save your money and try something else from Ireland. read more
