Really nice people working here. Nekia did my eye pre check exam before Dr. Nguyen the optometrist did further eye health exam before determining my eyeglass prescription. After getting my prescription I was helped by Jose, the Assistant Manager. We found a nice frame for my new prescription glasses. He said it will take about a week until they are sent to the store at which time I'll need to go back for a fitting. The also accepted my insurance so I feel I received very good value for the price of an exam and new glasses. Overall I highly recommend this location. read more

Do not come here! Boyfriend got an eye exam and was given "trial contact lenses" sold (exclusively?) at Lens Crafters. They refused to give him his contact lenses Rx, and said we had to come back next week, allegedly to see how he likes their custom lenses. He just wanted the Rx he paid for to order the Bausch and Lomb lenses he normally gets. They refused to give him the Rx, saying he had to come back next week. This is after spending almost 2 hours there. Came back the following Saturday to pick up the contact lenses Rx. We were told he had to meet with the optometrist. He asked whether the Rx was specific to ordering only the Lens Crafters lenses. The salesperson refused to answer that, and said he had to talk to the optometrist. There was nothing she could do. He asked to see the optometrist now, and was finally able to meet with her. Optometrist asked him if he was having any problems with the lenses. He said no. He was given an Rx, but we are not sure whether he can use it to order his regular lenses or if he can only order the Lens Crafters lenses with that Rx. They were intentionally vague about that. Obviously, this is just a scam to try to force customers to buy their contact lenses. If he cannot use this Rx elsewhere, we will take "next steps" to getting the Rx he paid for. Trust me, Lens Crafters will not like those next steps. Staff here are really rude and dismissive. We will not be coming back to this location for anything else ever again. read more

I had a great experience at LensCrafters in Santa Monica. The store was clean, well organized, and had a great selection of frames to choose from. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, professional, and patient, making the entire process easy and stress free. I got my eye exam here and I was able to use my eye insurance with no issues. The process was easy and straightforward. Once I selected my frames, we went over the lens options. I never felt like anyone was trying to sell me something I didn't need, but instead felt well informed so I could make the best decision for myself. I ended up choosing the Meta Ray-Ban Wayfarer in matte black and am excited to pick up my glasses in the next 3-5 days. I especially appreciated that the staff took the time to answer my questions and helped me find the right pair without ever making me feel rushed. I Highly recommend this location if you're looking for quality eyewear and a team that genuinely cares about their customers. I'll definitely be back in the near future for a second pair. read more

**Do not go to this store** I've been a patient here for years and spent a significant amount of money on frames, lenses, and exams. Even though this is a corporate chain, I chose to keep coming back because it's close to home and I wanted to support the local location. That loyalty means nothing to them. There is a reason it is a 2 star business. My doctor suggested I switch to contacts to save money on frames, so I did two separate contact lens trials. When I called to get my final prescription filled, a staff member named Dimitri told me I could only do that in person at this specific store. Can only fill my prescription at LensCrafters. Two weeks into wearing my new contacts, I ran into trouble removing one last night and ended up in serious pain -- I'm still not sure if I tore it, scratched my eye, or both. I was in pain all night. The next morning I went straight to the store, first thing when they opened. The store was completely empty -- I was the only customer there. I explained that I was scared and in pain and I needed help. I was received with no compassion. I asked to see the doctor and explained I was in pain. She refused to see me, claiming she needed to prioritize her "paying customers with appointments" -- despite the fact that there were no other appointments and no other customers in the store. I sat there for half an hour watching her scroll on her phone instead of working. When I asked again, she was dismissive, cold, and outright rude. When I asked to get my prescription, the front desk, woman who is even worse to me ,incorrectly told me my insurance wouldn't cover my prescription, despite me confirming with my provider that it did. Basically again denying me my prescription. I was denied care while in obvious pain, in an empty store, by a doctor who was more interested in her phone than her patients. On top of that, staff attitude across the board -- front desk included -- has been consistently poor on multiple visits. To top it off, you'll pay $10 just to park. Avoid this location. Years of loyalty and money spent, and this is how they treat a patient in pain. read more

I can't recommend this LensCrafters location. I waited 25 minutes for a simple prescription lens adjustment before asking why the delay. I was told they had scheduled two 3:00 p.m. appointments and that I would be seen afterward, which could mean waiting up to 45 minutes longer. What surprised me most was being told they don't inform waiting customers when appointments are double-booked and that who gets seen first is essentially random (even though I arrived 20 minutes early). A quick heads-up would have been appreciated and would have allowed me to decide whether to wait or come back later. Instead, the front desk employee responded defensively rather than acknowledging my concern. I actually would have stayed and waited, but his attitude completely changed my experience and led me to ask for a refund instead. Better communication, scheduling, and respect for customers' time would make a huge difference. read more

This is a 2nd review after 3 years. It did go up one star because the doctor side of the business is fine. No complaints. It's the only reason I still frequent this location - it's also closest to home. Sadly today post exam I was all ready and excited to finally be refilling my subscription with my favorite Chanel frames. The sales person didn't seem to like the fact that I wouldn't be buying frames? I mean the lenses still cost money- so it's not a wash- but he seemed uninterested once I pulled out my old frames. Then after spending a good while inputting all my eye data he took the frames and said they were old and would likely break upon install. Guy. These are Chanel. They don't break. But once he said that I didn't trust him with the frames anyway. I'll take my business elsewhere. Where they will use the frames I want. Oh he also seemed to be unhappy to wait on me because he mentioned to his colleague that he was supposed to be on break - so I just wasn't worth his time. read more

I went for an eye exam to get new glasses. I was greeted as soon as I walked in by one of the staff. The staff are professional and very pleasant to talk to. They did the preliminary exam and it was a short and great experience before I met with the doctor. Dr Zarabian greeted me and explained the procedure she was going to perform. She is a professional and explained every step of the procedure as she was performing it. I was given my prescription and ordered my glasses at the same location. Once I was notified about my glasses, I went back to the office to pick them up. They had my glasses and while the specialist was getting my glasses ready , Dr Zarabian came up to make sure all is ok. This was a great experience due to the professional staff and professional environment. read more

I dropped my eyeglasses while walking on the 3rd Street Promenade. They lens popped out, but worse the hinge was now bent. Having trouble seeing made me nervous. Luckily there was a Lens Crafters 2 minutes away. I was nervous the frame was beyond repair. But thankfully Jose greeted me as soon as I walked in, and when I showed him my frame with popped out lens, Jose immediately saw the hinge was now bent which is why I couldn't get the screw to go back in. Jose said no worries he would try a special screw he has in the back. Minutes later he returned and the lens was back in the frame and the frame was now solid with the longer special screw that had a point that straightened the hinge out. I asked how much for the repair. Jose said no charge he was happy to help. I was in & out in 10 minutes and my glasses felt good as new! I appreciated the kind and compassionate help I received from Jose! read more

Daniel was incredibly helpful. My glasses were deformed after a fall. He fixed them as well as possible, and then looked to see if he could find them in stock or order another pair for me. He even found another pair that fit the lenses. I ended up using the ones he'd fixed, but I really appreciated all of the time and effort he patiently gave me. read more

Dr. Kaneko is one of the most professional and qualified doctors I've ever seen. She is knowledgeable, attentive, sincere, and her 'bedside' manner is extraordiary. Lenscrafters should be pleased to have such a talented doctor as part of their staff. read more

They offer quality lenses. It may take a little longer to receive them and communications needs a little bit of improvement - but overall I am happy with my experience at this location. read more

Love Dr. Kaneko but the reception person needs to be fired. I called multiple times to confirm my appointment time but no one answered. I didn't receive a text confirmation or email the day of my appointment which was very frustrating to confirm I wrote down the correct time. I've waited 30 minutes in years past when the office was running late but if you show up more than 10 minutes late they won't see you. No customer service at all. It's very difficult to get to Santa Monica and find parking by the promenade at any time of the day. Not taking someone because they are 15 minutes late when they are older and have a disability is really disappointing. Saying they are understaffed and I arrive to everyone just sitting around is ridiculous. They had 4 people working the main office when I arrived and it was not busy at all. Please do better. I drove to another LensCrafters and they were much more friendly and accommodating me and making a same day appointment. They even said they would just push it back 20 minutes if I was running late. read more

Horrible Customer service. The staff is rude, unprofessional and they do not answer the phone. It's absolutely unacceptable that I have been calling for a week and no one answers the phone. I had my eye exam at this location and needed to get back in touch with them to older glasses. Daniel and Dimitri don't seem to understand basic customer respect. They talk at people end cut them off when they are speaking. This is not only highly unprofessional, but tells the customer "you don't care about what they are saying". This is the last time I will do business with this location read more

A deeply disappointing and predatory experience at LensCrafters Santa Monica We went to LensCrafters in Santa Monica to purchase contact lenses for my son. Initially, the first manager was polite and professional, assuring us they would review his prescription after we raised concerns that it didn't match his glasses, glasses with which he sees perfectly well. However, the second manager's behavior was appalling. He openly insulted his colleague and dismissed any responsibility for the issue, effectively telling us that LensCrafters bears no accountability for their own prescriptions. It quickly became clear that this location is driven purely by sales targets rather than patient care. Every interaction seemed designed to upsell rather than resolve legitimate concerns. As an older parent on Medicare, I reluctantly used them for my own eye exam. My Medicare plan provides $300 toward eyewear, yet a single pair of lenses, without frames, was quoted at over $500. When I inquired about readers, I was told they would cost between $300 and $500. Needless to say, I walked out. This kind of predatory business model, which prioritizes profit over quality and integrity, has no place in a community that values trust and responsible care. I strongly advise others to seek eyewear providers who stand behind their work and treat customers with the respect they deserve. read more

They made a mistake in my contact lens prescription. I have had the same prescription for the last 7 or 8 years. I was very happy with it. I told the doctor not to change it. She insisted a slight change would make it more comfortable. Not a sight issue, but a comfort one. I explained my concern and she told me just to roll my eyes with my eyes closed if that happens. Well that didn't work. I'm really kicking myself for not just demanding that she not change them. She asked if I had any complaints with my current prescription and I repeatedly said no. Now I can't see in one eye if I wear contacts and I have to wear them in my line of work. One of them is really uncomfortable after they adjusted the prescription. That is not the worst part. We spoke with Annie and zero accountability. Just a robot line of how they have to book you in again and I'd have to wait a week (and then even more to get the new contact lenses resent). Keep in mind, I can't see in one eye when I'm at work. Complete incompetence in working towards finding a solution. Absolutely not cut out for customer service. After an hour on the phone trying to sort it out with her, she told us that if I sent over my old prescription to confirm it was such a tiny change, she would hand it to the doctor and they would sort it out pronto. This was an agreement we reached after an hour of her pushing back and not actually using her initiative in the situation. We thanked her and trusted that she would follow through. And she completely dropped the ball. Nothing. What a time waster. And she had the nerve to tell me "don't worry we won't charge you for coming back in again". She is completely incompetent. Worst experience ever. Do not go to this branch. read more

I would give Dr. Kanetka 5 stars but the customer service of the floor staff 0 stars. I have been trying to call to order more contact lenses for 2 weeks. It either goes right to voicemail or you get put on hold for 20 minutes listening to maddening hold music. I finally just called the west Pico lens crafters and they ACTUALLY PICKED UP THE PHONE, were cheerful, polite and helpful. I do love Dr. Kanetka and the SM location is closer to me but I will never reorder contacts or do any business w this location again other than an eye exam. read more

I have mixed feelings about this location. I went in to look for Ray-Ban sunglasses. While I was browsing for 20~30 minutes, NONE of the staff came talk to me or didn't even acknowledge my existence! Not even a "Hi." It's not that they were busy. In fact, I was the only customer! I picked out a pair and approached the counter. I was helped right away, and the service was friendly. In the end, it all worked out, but it was not a very pleasant experience at least at the beginning. PRO TIP: If you have a AAA membership, you can get 30% off on sunglasses. read more

I just wanted to say thank you to the staff at LensCrafters--especially Dimitri--for helping adjust two pairs of my glasses. They had been bothering me for a while, constantly sliding down my nose, which meant I had to readjust them every few seconds. It was really inconvenient since I can't be without glasses. I stopped by on Sunday when there were only two staff members working, and they were super busy. Despite that, I only waited a few minutes before Dimitri helped me. He readjusted both my sunglasses and my everyday glasses, and now they fit perfectly! It might seem like a small thing, but not having to constantly adjust my glasses truly improves my quality of life. Thank you, Dimitri and the LensCrafters team! read more

Got in and out in 30 minutes to get a new pair of glasses. Make sure to have your prescription and medical insurance. The assortment of glasses were all high end brands so prices are a little high but not too bad. BEWARE -- If you need to use your insurance b/c your glass gets scratched - they will make you leave your frames with them for two weeks. even though they create your original lenses, they cannot redo them w/o the frames. and they send them out. LAME! To be fair, they said that they would "let" me buy a new frame, "for my convenience" so i wouldn't have to go two weeks without. so nice. read more

I had an amazing experience with LensCrafters! I first went to the West LA store on Pico, where they had the frames I wanted but no onsite lab for the lenses. Then I checked out the Santa Monica store on Wilshire, which had the lab but not the frames. This could have been a hassle, but Betty at the West LA store and Daniel at the Santa Monica store went above and beyond to coordinate everything for me. They made sure I got the exact frames I wanted and arranged a next-day turnaround for my prescription sunglasses--all for around $300! I honestly felt like I had experienced a small miracle. The level of service, care, and efficiency was outstanding. Highly recommend both locations and these two incredible employees! read more

Do not go to this Lens Crafters if you have Humana insurance. Frankly if you have ANY insurance they claim to accept, you should probably ask them if they plan to actually do PAs or if they want you to cough up full retail price for things that should be covered. If you are medically eligible for contacts, they refuse to submit the prior authorization for that to Humana, as the insurance requires. Instead they ask you to pay for contacts, do all the paperwork yourself and get reimbursed yourself (full price, 'natch). Aaand now you've wasted your exam benefits for the year on a provider that won't bother fulfilling the insurance responsibilities, so you're out of luck until next year! Totally shady. read more

Avoid This Location - Misleading and Rude I've been going to LensCrafters in Santa Monica for over six years, but after my most recent experience, I will never return. They've always told me that I'm "legally required by the state of California to come in once a year for an eye exam." I recently did some research and learned that this isn't true--California law states that contact lens prescriptions are valid for 1 to 2 years, unless there's a documented medical reason. But LensCrafters intentionally sets all prescriptions to expire after one year, forcing you to come in annually--not because it's the law, but to keep charging you for exams. That's not healthcare--it's a scam. My prescription expired on July 12, and I called them on July 14 to buy more contacts. They told me I'd have to come in again for an eye exam. I asked if I could just speak with my doctor since my prescription had only just expired, and my vision hasn't changed in over a decade. They refused. I asked if I could get a short extension until Friday when my doctor would be in. Again, they refused. So I gave in and booked an appointment for 11:00 a.m. on July 17. When I showed up at 11:00 sharp, they told me, "Nope, your appointment is at 11:40." I showed them my confirmation, but they insisted I leave and come back later. I asked to just speak to my doctor for five minutes--after all, I'm a long-term patient, out of contacts, and had made every effort to do this the right way. The man at the front rudely refused and told me I wasn't allowed in the waiting area because it was "a doctor's space"--which is absurd, because it was literally just the waiting room. I was treated like I didn't matter. They eventually gave me a 3-day extension only because I had no contacts left. But the way I was treated--with no empathy, no flexibility, and flat-out disrespect--made it clear they do not care about their patients. The eye doctor here is excellent, but the man at the front desk staff is unhelpful, condescending, and misleading. Be warned: this place operates on policies that benefit their bottom line, not your health. They'll cite "laws" that don't exist and use your expired prescription to pressure you into unnecessary appointments. It's unethical, and I won't support it anymore. read more

Utterly disappointed and almost disgusted with the attitudes and services provided by the store. Unwilling to help and serve patients' needs and just trying to upset customers and charge more than needed! Absolutely horrible experiences! DO NOT FALL INTO TRAPS! read more

I was greeted in a timely matter. My appointment was on time. My tests were done in a professional and relaxing manner. The Doctor was nice and informative. She gave me contact samples that made me feel I would make the best choice. I felt I was not hard sold. They gave me purchase options that I can buy when I was ready. I would refer this location. read more

Light scratches Lenses pop out of the frame with noticeable sanding on main body of lens on $600 Versace glasses that I needed asap for a trip. First world problems, but if you pay full price for a product I expect to receive a new product. They expedited the order and gave them to me next day which was great. But they did not inform me that they would be using the floor model which had some minor cosmetic scuffs and scratches. They only gave me options to leave them to order a new pair which would take more time leaving me glassless for my trip or purchase a warranty which would be another $55. So the one star is for customer service after the purchase for the bedside manner in which they talk and handle their business with customers. Better off reading the reviews of this location and take your business elsewhere. read more

I regret having to leave this bad review since I have been a regular customer at Lens crafters, but their management has changed in a very bad way. As a longtime customer, I feel it is important to let the public know when there has been unfair treatment and done in a way that could potentially cause harm to a person. My surgeon's office recommended that I get a colored lens for my eye (a sample not resaleable) as the one they gave me post cataract surgery was much too clear for me to see to put it in. Since I had an established relationship with the doctor at LensCrafters in Santa Monica the OD on the spot approved giving me a Colored Sample lens to match the sample strength from my doctor that was given to me 2 hours prior. The women who "helped "me at LensCrafters (I was told her name is Tammi )was rude and unprofessional asking why my doctors office did not train me. I tried to explain that they had, but wearing a soft contact lens was new for me and that I hoped the colored lens they just gave me would help. She mumbled and grumbled and didn't want to help be but begrudgingly did and coached me. before I put the lens in, I asked her and the sales man, would they assist me if I couldn't get it out before they closed. "Tammi" stated that yes, they were open until 7 pm to help. The salesman happily accepted my $130 for sunglasses and said "we are open until 7". On that premise I put the lens it. I then returned at 640 pm. upset and concerned because I could not get the lenses out. The manager Dan said that they left me a voice mail stating that they were "doing me a favor" by helping me out...to get to my tennis match?! " We are not going to assist you in removing the lens". I told him I did not receive the voicemail (in time). He said it's "not his problem". I asked if I could use their sink to wash my hands and try to remove it because it had dislodged in my eye. I could not see in my right eye to drive home. All the while the woman at the desk kept causing me more stress saying that I didn't purchase the lens there. THE LENS WASN'T FOR PURCHASE It WAS A SAMPLE THAT WAS GIVEN to me by Lens crafters doctor herself that day. I COULD NOT GET A NEW EYE EXAM FOR 4 weeks because I just had cataract surgery. I kept hearing "Dan" mumbling in the other room to his coworker that I wasn't going to leave. What am I a criminal? I needed help. I asked them if they would call my doctor to get instruction and they refused. Even an address to go to the local ER would have been nice. I was finally able to move the contact lens to center of my eye and drove myself to the ER in Malibu close to where I live where the doctor documented what had happened and took out the contacts for me. Despite all this I wanted to be fair and I contacted the manager, Jose today. He made no apologies. He said that their policy was not to help someone who didn't have an eye exam. Well, Wouldn't it have been nice to have gotten that information before I put the lens in? I just had surgery and was not able to get an eye exam remember? The lady who coached me said I could return before they closed. Bottom line is that there should have been clear communication before I put the lens in. Nothing was written or vocalized to me PRIOR to me putting my lens in. Your treatment of me as your loyal customer was disrespectful , and careless with an utter disregard for my safety. I even bought a pair of $130 sunglasses that day so they wouldn't feel like I wasn't spending money NO Tammi, Dan and Jose, you did not have to do me any favors but you do need to treat me with respect and a regard for my safety. AND it doesn't matter if I was going to a tennis match or a presidential inauguration. You've lost my business and my respect. Shame on you! To the store manager Aaron, please feel free to call me about this matter when you return from your vacation on July 9th. read more

Excellent service from Danny. He and Dominic are both pros at what they do at LensCrafters in Santa Monica.

I came in for a visit cause I had pain my right eye. First of all the staff is extremely unfriendly, no greeting nothing. But what really was the horror of the visit, is the wrong diagnosis. I knew I must have had a scratch on my cornea. The optometrist said, I was perfectly fine but can use drops, probably just dry eyes. I knew I couldn't trust her. So I went to the ER and another optometrist after and both diagnosed me with a scratch and I needed antibiotic eyedrops. Unprofessional in the most dangerous way. I will do another eye exam again cause this place isn't trustworthy. You could lose your eyesight trusting them. Please, avoid by all manners. I definitely will take further action. read more
