I absolutely love my annual visits here! I've seen both Dr. Cooper and Dr. Chung in the past based on availability. They make you feel like family and explain everything so well. I usually hate any kind of medical check up but they are one I always look forward to every year! Their offices are beautiful and spacious, and they use the latest technology to make your eye appointment so simple. Their office staff is also super knowledgeable and helpful, they come prepared with what your insurance covers as well. I usually find street parking when I visit but there are meters and a paid garage I believe. read more

I felt very well cared for during my first visit at Cooper Optometry. I was welcomed with a big, authentic smile from reception and immediately handed over to Brandon who greeted me with the utmost respect and hospitality as he began a series of eye health exams before my vision test with Dr Chung. Dr Chung's great chair-side manner made me feel very confident and comfortable. I had many questions and concerns and she answered them in depth and with patience and compassion. She went over my eye health imaging, explaining what it showed (luckily all was healthy). My vision test showed some age related degradation and Dr Chung explained how that is affecting my eyesight and what I may do in the future to correct it. The office is well equipped with the latest technology--the dreaded air puff test is a thing of the past. And Brandon's impeccable care while measuring me for progressive lenses was very reassuring as I've had trouble in the past from another place who placed the reading portion of my lenses improperly. Brandon was also EXTREMELY helpful helping me pick out frames (their selection was excellent!) pointing out the aspects to consider, and was happy to provide his excellent advise when I asked him about what styles suited my face. My husband and I have seen both Dr Cooper and Dr Tran for our recent annual eye exams since moving to LA in 2019. They run an excellent practice in Santa Monica. Dr Tran was good, and I was extremely impressed with Dr Cooper's knowledge and attention to detail. I highly recommend Dr Cooper if you have severe near-sightedness like I do. The numbers on my contacts prescriptions pretty much shocks most doctors, but not Dr Cooper. Until now it didn't occur to me that I've never had an optometrist who actually understood. Dr Cooper notices every detail, details that have never been found or discussed by previous practices we've been to. Their practice offers a retina scan that you can opt in and pay for out-of-pocket (it was about $40 for me) for a quick and through examination inside of your eyes without needing to get dilated. I also like the idea that records can be kept of what's going on inside of my eyes. I do believe it's worth it for certain circumstances. Yelp did not steer me wrong this time! I finally had to bite the bullet and go to the optometrist because my 20/20 wasn't 20/20ing any more. When I tell you the ladies at Cooper Optometry are like Disney characters I promise you I am not being dramatic. When you walk in the office everyone is so kind it's almost weird. There were only 3 other ladies besides Dr. Cooper but gheesh everyone was so kind and patient. I had to get my first pair of glasses (at 42) and when I tell you the patience (I can't think of her name SORRY!) that she had was so calming in a scary situation. I didn't feel rushed at all and she even gave me her honest opinions on frames that she thought fit my face. They are really doing it right at Cooper Optometry, from the doctor to the receptionist and I promise you won't be disappointed. I recently moved to Santa Monica and made the decision that no matter where I move next I will come to Santa Monica for their service. I have seen both Dr. Cooper and Dr. Chung and they are both incredible. They both remember personal facts and details of my life. They are both very personable. Scheduling is a breeze and I always get seen right on time. I also like that there's never a ton of other people in the office when I'm there so I feel like I get a lot of individual attention. They explain everything they are doing and always make me feel comfortable. The office is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. When I had laser eye surgery Dr. Cooper gave me her personal cell phone number to call in case there were any problems or issues. I didn't end up using it but that's above and beyond! read more

Highly recommend! My wife and I came here to get our eyes tested and buy new glasses. Dr. Cooper and her staff could not be any nicer or more professional. And in addition to the office being clean and in a great location, they have all the latest tech. We did not have to get our eyes dilated. Instead they have an eye scan which is painless, quick and easy - and it's very cool to see up close the digital photos of your eyes. Nothing but great things to say about Dr. Cooper and this practice! 1. SUPER easy to book appointments. You request online and find an appropriate slot, request a slot, and confirm it. Plenty of availability (even Saturday morning!) 2. It's in a large medical building on the 5th floor. Street parking is relatively easy to find in my experience. 3. The office is clean, nicely decorated and well-managed. The receptionist was super warm and welcoming and had already looked up my insurance information prior to me arriving which made things smooth and easy! I was seen quickly for my appointment slot. 4. Dr. Cooper herself is warm and engaging and very good at what she does. Anyone who has regular optometrist appointments knows they can be a little tedious and uncomfortable in some cases but she has a wonderful energy and explains everything she does. Doctor has good expertise. 4 stars instead of 5 is that I didn't get much understanding/explanation on what offers there are for buying contacts through their office and I ended up buying on my own through 1-800 contacts. Dr. Cooper communicates effectively and is very knowledgeable. She provided me all my options for contacts/glasses as well as eye exams/ contact lens exams/ retina scans in a clear way. A few months ago, my adorable, loving cat catcidentally scratched my eye. (Horrible pun, I apologize). Dr. Donna saw me as soon as she could on an emergency basis, and despite my jitters dealing with eye issues, she handled it professionally, kindly, fun and well. I felt confident with her medical diagnosis and opinion. I had always meant to write a yelp review, and life got busy. I didn't. Shame on me. Now, a silly eye problem happened again. Without skipping a beat, upon calling that I had sudden blurry vision after being at the beach all weekend, Dr. Donna scheduled me for her last appointment of the day, just to make sure my eye was okay. No better time to have a major allergic reaction in your eyes than quarantine, right? Dr. Cooper not only communicated with me directly through text to find the soonest and safest time to meet 1-1 in her office for an emergency visit (I was in within an hour!), but continued to support me at home going to bat with my general physician who didn't want to prescribe me what she recommended and gave me alternative medication in the meantime. When my eyes flared up again a few weeks later, she was still there to talk me through next steps over the phone. She personally went above and beyond in this crazy time. If I could give Dr. Cooper 10 stars I would! I've been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old, and Dr. Cooper is the best optometrist I've ever seen. I followed her from Santa Monica Eye to her own practice. I would say Dr. Cooper is one part genius, one part Mother Theresa, and one part your best friend. She is very smart, so thoughtful and patient, and incredibly easy to talk to. She cares so much about each patient's well-being and really takes the time to get to know you. Also, the location is very convenient and I've never had a problem finding street parking right outside the building. If you're looking for an optometrist, I can't recommend Dr. Cooper any more. I just had my eye exam with Dr. Cooper today and it was (yet again) another amazing experience. Finding a good eye doctor is always a challenge (I equate it to finding the right hairdresser), but I feel like I hit the jackpot with Cooper Optometry. The experience start to finish is unbelievable. I booked my appointment online with ease (and had great text notifications subsequent to booking), the team is so incredibly warm and kind when you walk in, the appointment windows are always respected (literally I sat down for maybe 15?30? seconds before they were bringing me back..), the technology is top-notch, the office is unbelievably clean, and Dr. Cooper is so knowledgeable and helpful. One thing that I love about her is how she explains everything in such an easy-to-understand manner and honestly I just love to chat with her - haha...I could go on and on. I followed Dr. Cooper to her new practice because she's the best! If you're looking for a new optometrist, I definitely recommend checking her out. She's extremely professional, knowledgeable, super friendly and chill. She does fill up quickly, so make sure to make an appointment with her couple weeks in advance! I "suffer" from allergy bubbles on my lids, so Dr. Cooper recommended a hydrogen peroxide solution to help cleanse my contact lenses even more than the usual contact solution. Since using it, I can totally feel a difference in my eyesight! Side note: try to find street parking, which isn't hard to find, because they do not validate parking. read more
