All men, women, and children should be able to find a decent pair of glasses of correct style to frame their face. I am never disappointed. The worst service i ever received is in this store, the staff simply don't care. I was harassed for a month with emails telling me that they made an appointment on my behalf ( i didn't ask for the appointment) - eventually, i decided to confirm the appointment - i received a call to confirm my insurance and appointment in advance. But when i made it there they told me sorry for some reason your insurance is not valid if you wish to take the exam today you will have to pay out of pocket ( and by the way my insurance is valid). When i asked why no one told me this before, i went out of my way to go all the way downtown only for this appointment on a hectic day - he lied to me and said "oh well, we knew about your insurance problem yesterday but your profile says we are not allowed to call". 1. I never asked to not be called in the past 2. They called me to confirm my insurance and appointment. The way he refused to take accountability and somehow he was able to put the blame on me was really comical .... The staff here is either not competent or pulling a scam. They claim they were unable to find my insurance plan despite my husband using the exact same plan with them a month ago. They then tried to pressure me into paying several hundred dollars out of pocket in the hopes of getting reimbursed in 3 months. Sneaky, dishonest staff. I normally get my eye glasses from my optometrist. This year, I wasn't feeling any of his frames, so I decided to look around. I stopped by this location on Wednesday, August 8th sometime around 7pm. This LensCrafters is located on the fourth floor of Macy's on the Geary side of the store. For a small location, they have a decent amount of glasses. I wasn't sure what my insurance covered, but the guy working here was super helpful. Looked at my insurance info and prescription and told me what was covered. All while I was trying on glasses and taking selfies. (Which is never a good idea when not wearing makeup!) I found some contenders, but nothing I really loved. I'm on this weird quest for big wire framed glases and I can't seem to find much selection in that department. Great customer service at this location. I'm going to look around some more, but the guy working here was very nice and helpful. read more

Had a poor experience here unfortunately. The two times I came here and arrived no one seemed to know I had an appointment. The dr was good but as soon as I was passed off to someone else on his staff no one had any idea what to do. I was sent home with my sample pair of eye contacts and only was given the right eye... not the left. On top of that I placed my contacts order 3 weeks ago and called twice, left a voicemail, and no one returned my call to let me know what the status was. I finally got a hold of someone and found out my contacts order was never placed. Office seems unorganized and I will unfortunately not be ordering my contacts from here again let alone visit this office again. read more

The manager is so rude and dismissive.  The doctors are hit or miss, mostly polite but there seems to be high turn over.  The current manager needs another job because his customer service skills suck. He doesn't listen or explain things and then makes you feel stupid when you ask anything- even valid and legit questions concerning your prescription.  I've been going for years and this guy is a jerk and inspired me to write this bad review after all this time. I had the absolute worst eye infection and I attended Macy's in Union square to look for an outfit for a event which I drove 45 minutes to the city for. I came up the escalator and I felt my eye twitching. It was heaven sent when I found the lens crafters off the escalator. Thankfully, Jose was the sales clerk in the department and he was able to give me a small blink eye drop and help save me. I was so relieved and overjoyed with happiness! This place is a big rip off. I went in to get my prescription updated on my glasses... The guy asked me some questions... I would not need frames, only lenses... They came back to me with a price of over $850!... Not the first time I bought glasses, I had never heard of such an outrageous price... When I questioned it, they came back at a different price of around $650... I said no thanks, I would get another estimate... Went into the place where I bought my glasses, Optical Underground, and it was $285. for exactly the same thing as I would've gotten at LensCrafters... LensCrafters wanted to stiff me for over $500!. Back into a LensCrafters in any Macy's store, even if you gave me an overpriced pair of glasses for free! The LensCrafters inside, Boca decided to upcharge my order by adding additional features to the glasses that I did not want or need. The sales representative was wearing a white doctors coat, her name is Kehlani, and she presented herself as though she was a physician And was not. Not only did she overcharge the insurance company which ultimately overcharged me but she added almost $200 worth of extra incentives to pad her commission. I live four hours away from the store. I came back two weeks later to pick up my glasses, and was shocked to find out That she took the liberty to customized them based on how much money she would make. I left without my glasses. A couple weeks later we exchanged text messages, she was extremely short and rude to me, and the glasses had no update. I paid $400 on August 11 of 2021. It is the middle of May 2023 and they have still refused to refund the $400 they stole from me! They make up the most ridiculous excuses. It's sickening nothing but a bunch of disgusting thieves. I showed them the statement where the store manager issued a credit and then it was reversed. The genius manager looked at it and said see there's your credit, I literally had to pull up my calculator and show her, what happens when you subtract one credit from another. These people must not of made it past elementary school. But no, I just have to work it in a different way because I am furious. Could be better. I needed glasses so I went to this location because they are easy to find and get into. They have extended hours (M-Sat 10 am - 9 pm and Sundays 11 am - 8 pm) which is a big plus for me. The business is separated into two operations. Retail and Optical services. I visited Thursday evening at 7:30 pm. The associate was helpful in asking what I needed and we worked through why I was there. He scheduled me for an eye exam for the following day, then helped me try to make a decision on frames. Overall he answered all my questions and gave me adequate information. What was lacking was interest. I would love for the salesperson to have helped me find my best look by observing my clothing style, eye color, hair color/style, skin tone, shape of my head and face, then make reccomendations.......... Didn't happened. The appointment the next day with the Doctor was awesome. Jacqueline Mai was very professional and kind. She thoroughly covered everything she was doing and finished the exam quickly but did not rush. I feel she would do better if she were supported by sales people that were as attentive as she is. Very good service from the Doctor. After the exam I sat down with a new sales associate and settled up the charges and placed an order. This was sort of a train wreck. He missed every opportunity to guide me through the process. I had to ask probing questions and peel away the layers to get to what my options were and I still don't know if I made the best decision based on what was available. The place I used to go to was so good at selling glasses that I didn't realize just how important the service side of things is. LensCrafters isn't any cheaper either. I learned my lesson to make better decisions where to spend my money on things that are important to me. This place is OK if your needs are VERY basic. Beyond that, look elsewhere. read more

This is a mixed bag review. I had my eye exam there and it was top notch. Extremely advanced equipment and thorough. The Lenscrafters side, what a mess. I had a single vision prescription to replace a lens in my Oliver Peoples frames. With insurance the lens would be $108. My wife asked if there was a less expensive alternative which they never ever mentioned and the salesman confessed that there is a $45 alternative. Since I drive at night I ate it and got the more expensive lens. Now this is where it gets ridiculous. They said about 4-6 business days to get the lens made, installed and returned to Macys. They will call us when they are completed. This is TWO WEEKS later and I had to call them to get a status last Friday and they said the frames would be ready today Monday. I was expecting to get a call today from them to say that they were ready today for pick up. No call. I had to call them, they finally checked and said they were ready for pick up. This Lenscrafters is not that busy. I had to struggle using my prescription sunglasses everywhere, both day and night for two weeks while I was waiting for these frames. I should have gone to Jins and got a new frame and lens within 1 hour of leaving the eye exam. Inexcusable turnaround time and customer service. read more

It had been a few years since I'd gotten a prescription, and I was a little concerned about facing high-pressure sales guy. Thankfully, there was no pressure like that at all. I asked if I could just get the prescription today, and the sales guy was really chill about it. I came in for a checkup and saw Dr. Jocelyn Mai. She was great. Since I was a new patient, she ran me through a few standard eye tests. I really appreciated that she explained what each test was doing. All looked fine there, so we then hopped next door to do the "read these letters" test, and the "number one. number two. number one. number two" test of different lens strengths. Finally, since it had been a while, it was time to do the retina check where they dilate your eyes. Except! Dr. Mai had an Optos Optomap machine, which captures a digital image of your retina, allowing the doctor to have a record for the future and for you to avoid getting your pupils dilated. It was just a little bit more expensive than the dilation option, but it was a pretty easy call to go with it. After the digital image was captured, Dr. Mai put the image on a screen we could both look at, and she explained what the different parts of my eye were, and what she was looking for in the image. I really appreciate when a doctor respects your intelligence and explains things to you in depth. I also appreciate when a doctor respects your time by not doing needless tests, or leaving you waiting, or taking too long to check something out. Dr Mai was the perfect balance -- absolutely being there for questions, while also moving through the tests efficiently. After the test, the salesman from the retail side of things printed up my receipt and a printout of my prescription, and I was all done, and free to get my frames from wherever I wanted. Will definitely come back here for my checkup in a year. read more

I really like the designer frame selection at this Len Crafters. The wide variety made it tough to choose. They carry Ray Ban, Prada, Tiffany, Versace, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana and a few others. I didn't have an eye exam here. I brought a prescription from my optometrist. The sales rep was nice and knowledgeable about my insurance questions but he didn't explain the add-ons and upgrades of the lenses very well. At the last LensCrafters I went to, the sales rep brought out a tablet and went over all the lens options with me. She explained the difference between the lens coatings and we customized my lenses together. I really hope this location incorporates this practice. I think it would improve their customer satisfaction. Overall, this location has good customer service, an excellent frame selection, sales/deals that are beneficial if you're paying out of pocket vs using insurance, it's located on the 4th floor of a beautiful Macy's, and it's right next to a Starbucks overlooking Union Square. Bonus for it being only a 15 min lovely walk from my apartment. I will definitely come back when I'm ready to purchase new glasses. read more

I would highly recommend this Lens Crafters, it is inside Macys just off the parking garage. The staff was so helpful and knowledgable, with a great selection of frames; I went in Just to get new glasses. When I discussed with the eye doctor Theresa Luu that I always wanted to try contacts she encouraged me to try and she set me up to try them. She and the staff were very patient teaching me how to put them in and remove them. She sent me home with several pairs of them to practice and see if I would like them. Long story short, My family changed over from Costco to here. Outstanding service read more

I bought Rayban vision glasses in 2018 and went yesterday again to get a new pair. Employee at counter has no experience and don't know what she was talking about. She told my vision insurance VSP is not covering frame and glass insurance. I call my insurance and they confirmed I have everything covered. Such a waste of time. They recently hired a new employees having zero experience otherwise last time in 2018 I had a great experience. read more

I had a really poor and frustrating experience with LensCrafters at Macy's. I ordered 3 pairs of glasses, using my VSP insurance, my HSA card and my debit card for the balance. The main person assisting me seemed very new, very confused and had to check with supervisors on pretty much every step along the way. They offered me a 40% discount on the third pair in that my VSP only covered two pairs. At this point I was mostly happy, despite the convoluted shopping experience. Once at home however, I realized that the only receipt I was given was for the small balance I paid with my debit card. They gave me nothing that reflects the $750 charge to my HSA card, nothing that reflects the use of my VSP, and nothing that actually itemizes my purchases. A week later, 2 of my pairs were done. I asked about the 3rd pair and they said they weren't ready yet but should be in a few days. It's now 18 days later. After spending a good deal of time on Macy's customer chat line and on the phone with LensCrafters, I've now been told that I never ordered the 3rd pair and that the amount I was charged was correct for the pairs I received. I have no idea what really happened behind the counter at this chaotic kiosk but the end result in no way matches the transaction I thought had taken place. The only reason I ordered the 3rd pair was that the total for 2 pairs left room on my HSA card for a 3rd. I definitely will not bring any further business to this store. Instead, I'll be visiting https://www.glassesusa.com -- I suggest y'all do the same! They have a much larger selection, the prices are more affordable and the turn-around time is way faster. Stay home and buy online! I will say that the employees were all quite friendly and well-intentioned. Friendliness however does not excuse incompetence. read more

As soon as I walked in, this white dude was showing attitude. So we continued looking around the store ignoring him, and then this asian dude was like super nice and helpful. At first we wanted to get two frames with lenses, but see the white dudes attitude and the way he put back a glasses we were gonna buy back on the shelf without asking while we were still trying them on turned us off, so we rather buy the frame to avoid coming back to see his ass. But then the asian dude is like NAW we only sell them off the shelf unless u buy it with lense. LOL Whatcu mean u only sell frames off the shelf ? Like you meant to tell me a glasses store like y'all only sells used up old frames? So I asked him, you guys don't sell new ones? He's like no. At that point, I'm like fuck it. I'm out. I'm not paying 184$ for a used up sample glasses and I'm done putting myself in a room with his toxic companion. I rather buy it online. the only reason I'm even giving one star is cus the asian dude was kinda helpful that he helped me find the style of glasses I'd be able to get online.
