I've come here a few times with a friend, and the relatively low review rating baffles me. This is an extremely friendly bar, it's got great vibe and that general dive bar category decor that many of us love, and the woman who was bartending was absolutely wonderful: friendly, attentive, and an engaging conversationalist who knows how to read and talk with people as individuals. The most important element of course is that each time we left, we were talking about wanting to come back. I would say that especially with the recent decline in service at the infamous Straphanger, and the sad demise of Bergen Brick Oven (which was more for the pizza but did also sport a great bar), giving Lenora's a try made it easily and comfortably step in as my favorite bar in Hackensack. There's a lot of competition in the general area, but I really wish I had discovered this place sooner, it has certainly been around. If there's anything I wish different about it, it's that I wish it was open a bit earlier, but honestly that's not enough of an issue to knock it down from five stars. If you're looking for a nice spot to have a drink in a great atmosphere, and if you happen to be a connoisseur of dive bars like myself, you're definitely going to want to come here, and you're definitely going to want to come back. Grimey, gritty, smokey (on the outside, and a little bit on the inside), and kinda gross. This is the dive bar that time forgot, in a partially converted multistory house. Imagine your grandma died and left your drunk uncle the house. That's what this place looks like on the inside. There was some live music band playing Dead tunes outside, and the crowd is an interesting mix of old hippies, Gen X-ers, and guys in their 20's who prefer to get hammered closer to home. And by the looks of it, NONE of these people are worried about COVID. Almost no masks being worn, no social distancing, and indoor capacity was definitely not 25% or less. This bar is the dive bar of all dive bars. In fact I'm not sure if 'dive bar' properly describes it; It's more like a hole in the wall... Dark and depressing based on my observations it seems that this bar has become home to people matching that description. There seems to be a very high percentage of derelicts here. Don't get me wrong, there are some decent people that I have seen hanging out here however, it seems mostly full of extremely shady characters. They have a pool table and a dartboard on the second level (up 3 stairs) which is nice, But the only time you'll catch me at Lenora's Bar & Grill is if somebody I know is already there (unlikely) and I am desperate for someone to drink with (thankfully, even more unlikely). I think their goal was to be something like a coyote ugly style dive bar; I think it's just plain ugly. read more

A great unapologetic local dive bar. Great atmosphere and great prices. Crowd is very laid back and like a big family. AMAZING bartenders and not bad to look at either. Word to the wise, as a true local bar it may take a while to be embraced by the crowd (Bartenders are always good even to newbies). That being said, the regulars won't make you feel uncomfortable either. As for a few recent reviews in regards to Covid social distancing. All social distancing and CDC guidelines have been observed while I have been here. I am stunned to see otherwise in some recent posts and I am sure it was a one off. read more

Lenora's is a coyote ugly style dive bar. All the bartenders are hot chicks that dance on the bar. If you like dives then come to Lenora's. It's great for low key, casual drinking and hanging out with a group of friends. Especially, if you get the whole upstairs area to yourself. There are two pool tables and a dart board. Cheap drinks. Decent food. Rock/metal playing from their jukebox. Daily drink specials. Clean bathrooms (for the ladies room not the men's, haha). The bartenders are all really nice girls. I'm a chick so you know they're not just being nice to get extra tips from me cause that shit doesn't work on girls. They're really just genuinely nice. Allie and Stacy are my favorite. Lenora's awesome too but I don't see her as often. The one really awesome thing about this place is you can get a drink without having to go to the bar. They'll come around and ask if you need anything. They're extremely attentive even when it's busy. They're also pretty tough when they have to be. I've seen a fight happen and Allie had to kick someone out. She went from a sweet, friendly bartender to bad ass chick in about 2 seconds and got that dude the hell out of her bar. It was awesome. The food's not bad either but I don't really come here to eat. The only thing that sucks is there are always creepy, drunk dudes here. Obviously, they are flocking to the hot, young bartenders. I get it but some of these dudes are straight up scary and weird. I always come here with a large group though so I have my guy friends to back me up if anything goes wrong. Plus, we know the bartenders have a no shit policy so I feel pretty safe regardless. read more

I was all about this bar until I was PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED BY THE FEMALE BAR TENDER last night! (curly dark hair, styled to the side) I was standing next to the swinging door of the packed the bar. I would have gladly moved if she asked me to. Instead she said "this isn't the best place to stand" and not thinking too much about it I moved a little out of the way. A few minutes later she came through and FORCEFULLY threw the swinging door into my body!!! All of this AFTER I had just paid and signed my check, leaving the bar a really decent tip. My friends and I came with about 15- 20 people and must have spent well over $1,000 on drinks. This is no way to treat your paying customers, the life force of your business! I think this girl should be fired and never be allowed a service job again. read more

OK place to go if you've got nothing better to do. Food menu is kinda like a fun game. You a ask for an items on the list until they you hit an item they actually have. If you're a broke college student the 2 dollar PBR's are pretty appealing. If you're going for anything above the bud/coors level of quality expect to spend $7.50 a pint. Watch your tab depending on the bartender. I bought a buddy one drink and they though it was a good idea to just keep feeding the guy drinks at my expense. Wow. If you want to relive your college frat house experiences, then this is the place to go. It totally feels like a frat house inside, especially in the upstairs room with the pool table and darts. Same ratty frat house furniture that's covered in stains that you don't want to sit on, same kind of photos and art decorating the walls, same music on the jukebox, same frat boys shooting darts at the other end of the room. The only difference is that you have to pay for drinks at the bar and the pool table costs $1.50 a game. Had to park on the street about 100 yards away. Yes, Lenora's is known as the local dive bar. That being said, the bartenders are really cool and pretty hot. The drinks are cheap and everyone (patrons) are for, the most part, pretty chill. The decor let's say has character. I do want to make note of people, who tend to complain about "service." In most cases, there a lot of self-righteous people who think they can complain about how their "feelings" are hurt. Well, f#*% your feelings and go complain about your miserable life somewhere else! If you're not happy with the service, bring it up with the people who are serving and don't passive aggressively complain about it on Yelp. read more

After 20 minutes of standing at the bar being ignored, one of the bartender rudely signals me with her finger to wait after I ordered a simple shot. Yeah... I love how the reviews here are all about the bartenders. Either everyone has beer goggles or the night that I went, I didn't have the hot young bartenders. I encountered a few cougars back there who were nice but they were definitely not young. The music playing was decent alternative rock. There was a band that was supposed to go on at 10 but they didn't have their shit together. Beer prices here are a bit high for the sizes that you get. This bar is pretty cool for men.. the bartenders are attractive woman that are very friendly. The bar area is pretty cool a lot of high tables to sit at along with bar seating. They have a whole upstairs with a pool table and dart board where my friends and I enjoy hanging out. I haven't eaten here so I can't rate that. I love this place! It's a great low key local bar! On occasions, they have bands playing which can be a lot of fun to listen to! They also have a Touch tunes juke box, which is always great to mess with the crowds! (yeah, I'm that person that throws on some Reggaeton in the bar of 80s rock lovers - my fiancé hates it) On my last visit, we discovered that their kitchen is open until closing! I only had a taste of the cheese fries, but my friend had a burger. Can't say anything from my own personal experience for the food, I'll have to go back one day to try it out!
