Stopped here for happy hour with a former colleague who frequents Lazy Lanigans. This is a great local bar from what I experienced. The bartender knew everyone's names and everyone knew each others name. It's clear they have a solid local following. Service was great. The bartender was attentive and on top of the orders. I didn't get any food this time around but what was coming out smelled great. I'll get something to eat next time around. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Decent local bar. It's a bit dirty in there and when we went, there was a terrible fish odor which was hard to bear, but the vibe was chill and people in there seemed friendly. They had a live DJ who played good music. Drinks are standard there - prices perhaps on the higher side for a NJ bar. Overall a chill local bar. I had a fun afternoon lunch with a large group of coworkers and we had a great time. Many of us ordered different things, some ordered salads, some ordered burgers, I ordered the French dip. Everyone liked their lunch. The drinks were good and the service was fantastic. Our group of 30 was treated extremely well and we had no complaints whatsoever. Starting with the first impression you'll get here, the look of the place is great. Just a wonderful style that feeds the ambiance that you will soon experience. The crowd here is friendly, as is the service across the board. Excellent, attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere. Was here a fair number of years ago, finally got back here today and I can comfortably say that the vibe and service are consistent. Good selection of beers and whisk(e)ys, the food won't blow you away but at the same time will fill you and leave you with no regrets for eating here. Prices here are very good. A burger, wings, and two Stella's on tap ran us about $35 plus tip. If you haven't stopped in here yet, swing by for a drink and maybe some wings or whatever suits your mood. Cozy bar with minimal seating. This seems like more of a locals spot than a destination. Alcohol pricing could use a little help. I always expect prices to be much lower at local bars. Not so much at Lanigan's. This is the same reason I stopped going to Poitin. If you want a better value head over to Poor's or Charlemagne. I love coming here with coworkers. It can get pretty crowded and busy here. The bar staff is always friendly and quick to get your drinks in as well as complete refills. I've had food here a few times and it's standard for pub food. It's pretty good. There is a great back patio area but that's usually overflowing with smokers. I know smokers like to have their place but meh ... it sort of ruins it if you just want to soak in a nice day and are allergic to smoke. Oh wells! read more

Came here with a group of friends to play trivia on a Tuesday as stated on their website. We got there and ordered some drinks and waited but it did not seem like anyone to do trivia was there. When we asked the bar tender he said during the summer it is only the first Tuesday a month and the website needed to be updated. The bar is pretty dark and we were sitting by the front window so we moved up the curtain to find about 6 flies come up from underneath that would not leave the area. Disappointed about trivia and grossed out by the flies we left to get food and drinks elsewhere. read more

Lazy Lannigans is the type of spot to go out with friends after work. It has a laid back vibe, but does get quite crowded from time to time. With that being said the place was completely dead when I went there Saturday night. They have a decent sized patio equipped with 2 large flat-tvs for you sports lovers. The food is typical bar food and nothing too spectacular. I have had their nachos (delish!) french onion soup (good, but I've had better) and the appetizer sampler combo. (tasty but so much breading which is obviously to be expected) The combo consisted of mozzerella sticks, pot stickers, potato skins, (so much bacon!) buffalo wings, chicken fingers and onion rings. Although we 86'ed the onion rings and were given extra chicken fingers. Drinks are average price $5.50 a beer $7.75 mixed drink. I can't really comment on the service as the place was empty so it makes sense that our server was attentive. But I've been here several times in the past and never had a major issue with the service. Not a bad place if you're a local or are in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't recommend going out of the way to come here. read more

Favorite bar to come after work for a drink with some co-workers and friends. The bar staff is awesome and always makes a good drink! They pour the best Guiness stout ever, even has the four leaf clover in the foam. Good bar appetizers and some great home cooked irish food. The outside patio is the best- with all the TVs and seating it makes for a really nice place to relax with a drink in the summer- or even the winter they have all the heat on and inclosed windows. Have been a frequent patron of Lazy's over the years, including during the pandemic, eating outdoors. We were there yesterday (6/9/2021) and in all honesty, the place has taken a deep dive. We came in through the back and were greeted by the sourpuss owner, a woman we'd never encountered before. Not a smile, not a welcome, not even a hello. She was behind the bar -- and if she'd been having a bad day, ok. I get it. After our waiter (overworked, covering the indoor dining room and the patio by himself) brought our lunch, she stopped by well into the meal, and again, no smile, no welcoming conversation -- just a "do you need anything." Awful. The turkey wrap was about as dull as one can be; (the fries were great) and the buffalo shrimp salad was off. Located in a friendly neighborhood in Hackensack Lazy Lanigan's Is a solid, clean dive. I've been visiting this bar for approximately 15 years. It can get pretty crowded and frantic depending on the night you choose to visit, so be prepared. Don't be surprised if it's not too crowded when you go, there is a strange hit-or-miss popularity equation I have been unable to solve. One of the popular features is the outdoor patio they built a few years back. Located in the rear of the bar the patio offers a smoking area. (for all of you smokers who only smoke when you drink, you know who you are...lol) If you are local or just in the neighborhood it is worth sticking your head in and having a drink or two. Came to Lazy Lanigans for happy hour with a fellow yelper. We found good seats at the bar, and had some appetizers and drink specials. The specials weren't anything crazy, but a reduced drink is always pleasing! The food wasn't spectacular, I particularly disliked the huge piece of lettuce on the nachos, but it wasn't terrible, either. When we got there at 4, it was pretty empty, but around 530 it got very packed, and around 7 it died out. It's a total locals spot, but we didn't feel out of place. So, my biggest problem and what may keep me from coming here again, at least until the winter??? The patio. I would love to enjoy the patio, but it's full of smokers. No problem, I can deal, they should have a nice section that they could enjoy poisoning their lungs in with the company of their friends. However, I'm not one of their friends. So when I'm sitting at the other end of the bar, inside of the actual establishment, no where near the door, completely opposite of the deck, but the smell of smoke is killing me because they have the door to the patio open to cool the place down, then I have a problem. A big problem. So for this reason LL, you get 2 stars! Otherwise, I think it's a nice, laid back dive and would love to come back - when they learn to deal with the cooling of the place without making me gag from the smoke. ***************** On a side note, I've been here before for dinner in the winter/fall, and this was not a problem at all. Definitely a great place to hang out and grab a few drinks, watch a few games. The bar staff are friendly and the back patio is ideal. There are not enough bars in the area that provide a patio area to smoke and have your drink in so I find this to be their best feature. Nice local bar with a friendly staff that will always make sure you're taken care of. Great place to watch football on sundays. They have sunday NFL ticket so they can show 4 or 5 games on at once. (Local teams always get priority) I would love to see more Jet's fans take over the place on sundays. read more

I love Lazy's! I celebrated my 21st birthday there. They have a great selection of drinks, good prices and a nice outside deck. Flat screens above the bar generally show sports, but I wouldn't classify it as a "sports bar." Just a nice local pub good for a low-key evening. Good atmosphere too. I have to mention to everyone.. I've only been here twice.. one time i sat inside.. not much seating.. get there early and once I sat outside on the patio..purely because we were there for a happy hour one friday after work and the weather was nice. WOW. LOTS I mean, LOADS of smoking going on outside. Like, if you don't smoke, best bet don't eat on the patio. I literally had smoke landing on my plate from all the smokers. I generally can tolerate alittle, but this was really bad. Also, if you take the patio entrance into the restaurant, you'll have to walk through the massive cloud of cigarette smoke. --just wanted to forewarn people about this. Easily one of my favorite local bars to come to offering great authentic Irish food and a really chill atmosphere. No matter the season Lazy Lanigan's is a great place to come grab a drink. The back patio is easily my favorite area to hang in, with tv's and dart boards for entertainment along with being about to smoke I don't think there's another bar I would want to be at on a summer night. In the winter they screen in the back patio and add heaters making it nice and toasty. Prices here are great and won't break the bank. Stopped there for a quick drink and a sandwich for Lunch and was served by a charming bartender and had a great steak sandwich on Saturday .They place definitely needs a good cleaning and a bit of updating but service was spot on.There were some loud and a bit ubnoxious customers next to us,but our savy servers noticed we were annoyed even though we didn't mention it And apologized when they left and bought us a drink.Great move we will be back!!! read more
