Lunch was tasty. I had the 1/2 soup (cup of chili) and 1/2 Stromboli (veggie). My lunch guest had 1/2 soup (French onion) and 1/2 sandwich (roast beef). The servings were so ample that we had food to take home, which they packed in a tin pan with a sealed lid. I would actually give them a 4.5 with the -0.5 being due to the noise level; our waitress even leaned into our table and spoke in a loud voice so, obviously, it wasn't just my imagination. Also, lunch for the two orders was $32 (including tip) which is on the higher end for a casual lunch in Btown. Would I recommend it? Absolutely, but be sure your tummy is empty and your wallet is full. read more

One of my favorite lunch spots. I work on campus and can easily walk here. Their lunch combos are great! I'm a huge fan of the soup and salad. Their French onion soup is absolutely amazing! The cheese on top is always golden brown and delicious, the broth and bread is equally good. My favorite soup in town. The salad is so good, too. Love the house dressing with blue cheese. So good! Can't believe I haven't left a review for Lennie's. Although it's a little pricy, dinner here is always a treat. One of the best things here is the build-your-own-stromboli. The things are massive, and you can put a whole bunch of different ingredients in. I always load mine up with feta. They also have a stromlette...like a breakfast stromboli. Fantastic. Met a dear friend at Lennies last night for an early dinner. It was the second visit to Lennies - the first one was at the old location. I didn't get all hung up on atmosphere because of the Covid situation....hard to have cozy atmosphere with tables so widely separated! It was just fine for us...we came to enjoy the food and share a visit. My friend had the quite spicy Voodoo chili and a house salad...both were delicious, according to my friend. *The 'house' side salad was really a surprise! With marinated onions and toasted almond slices, it looked great! I had the French onion soup, which was good and the pimento cheese appetizer which is served with the most delicious cranberry walnut crackers! Pimento cheese was really excellent and had a little spicy kick to it. But those crackers...I need to know if they are made in house or if I can find them in a store! . Soooo good! I gave a 4 star review instead of 5 because it was pretty chilly in the restaurant, and the ice tea wasn't very good. I thought it was the paper straw that made it taste funny...but it was the tea itself, sadly. Our server was excellent! She stayed 6 feet away and had her mask in place at all times. (She was actually the bartender but took care of us the whole time we were there, even though we weren't in the bar. ) She was very friendly and kept a close eye on us, making sure we had all we needed. She was also very knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely be coming back to try more of the delicious menu options! read more

Good place for bloomington. A lot of locals go and rave about the pizza. Being from the east coast it was sublime. We also go the shrimp and crab dip which wasn't bad but I wouldn't order again. The quesadillas weren't great- funky cheese. Good French onion soup. Pesto garlic penne was ok. The chicken wings were the best. Lennie's - Bloomington, Indiana ... 4 stars: If you have someone at Indiana University, you'll eventually be touring through the Bloomington restaurants...here is a good one. Lennie's is primarily a pizza joint on 10th Street, just across the street from campus. If you are up for gourmet pizza or some of the other Italian entries, this is a good stop. Lennie's is also home to the Bloomington Brewing Company and their line of craft beers. Lennie's itself is the brewpub arm of the brewing company, and they are right next to each other. Originally founded by IU graduates, they continue to serve students and their parents with brunch/lunch/dinner all year round. Lennie's restaurant is split into two rooms...a dining room on one side for sit down eating and where all ages can be seated, and a pub/bar side where you have to be 21 to enter. Food is available on both sides. This is a popular place and gets crowded quickly on big campus days - like Freshman Weekend, Parents Weekend, all football games, etc. Good for families and even kids can find something they like on the menu. The food here is pretty standard American fare, but the pizzas do stand out. We had the Love Supreme which is basically a garbage pizza - pepperoni and sausage and stuff. The real shining spot though is The Original Sin dessert - a double scoop of ice cream on top of a very tender brownie with out-of-this-world hot fudge. The pizza and stuff are very nice...but don't miss the over-the-top Original Sin dessert. Situated in a little strip mall, you can sometimes find parking right out front...but parking can be hard to find because of the closeness to campus. Still this one is definitely worth the visit. You are within walking distance of many of the IU dorms and a main IU parking lot. read more

Lennie's is basically the restaurant arm of the Bloomington Brewing Company. Make sure you go for "Hoppy Hour". You can't beat the $4 flats. Super crusty flatbread piled high with pizza toppings. Mmm...mmm.....good. The beers are excellent as well. They usually have about 10 of their own brews on tap so there's something for everyone in your party. The best part of Lennie's/BBC is that it's on 10th St. away from all the campus craziness so you get a lot of beer geeks and locals instead of your typical rowdy Kirkwood crowd. OK, I was referred here and it was definitely worth the visit for this out-of-towner. I ordered the Monterey (I mislabeled my pic as the Santa Fe...oops) calzone/stromboli and some BBC brewed Biere De Mar. The food was very good and I surprised myself by finishing the whole stromboli and 3 of the beers. Now, while I consider the Biere De Mar VERY TASTY, I must warn you. I had the most awful gas the rest of the night. Like, wake me out of a dream it smells so bad, gas. In short, I would not consider this a "date beer" if you have plans for the night if you know what I mean. Luckily for anyone on planet earth, I did not have anyone trapped in my hotel room with me that night or I'm sure I would've had to make a trip to the ER (there is such a thing as airborne food/beer poisoning, right?). This place is right beside a subway...soo all the poor college kids go there and all the professionals and teachers go here. The meat was good and bacon just right. It had a chipotle mayo on it that gave it just the right amount of bite with the melted cheese. Not too happy with my experience at Lennie's. It took us 15 minutes for us to get our waters. I felt as if we had completely disappeared into the abyss at this restaurant. Maybe it was that we were college students that we were ignored, so she gave her attention to those who would be the better tippers. I can't blame her but it still sucked. It is close to campus for a reason. I think they share a kitchen. I got their spinach flat bread and it tasted like the food from the dorms: bland, overpriced, and kinda cold. Will not be dinning here again unless all I plan to get is an order of fries. Lennie's is a smaller place in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. Once you're inside, you find a very attractive and comfortable place. Menu consists of sandwiches, salads, pizza, and more. To be honest, the menu isn't really my style - the quality of every item I eat is fantastic - delish - I just tend to stick to a few items, as I'm not adventurous in some of the same ways Lennie is. As for recommendations - the JM Stroboli is amazing. Really truly amazing. So is the french onion soup. Served in a big/tall bowl, it's great. Most of the sandwiches are 'fancy' meaning they don't fit my 'can I just have turkey and cheese with nothing else' lifestyle. They can do T&C but I feel like Sally in When Harry Meets Sally when I change everything up. Those who eat the other fancier stuff rave about it. Aw yes indeed, this brewery had 12 of their own crafted beers. I had the Kirkwood cream ale and my wife had the 10-speed hoppy wheat, both were winners. One thing that I noticed that Lennie's does is list the cost of a growler fill up on the menu per each and every beer. Other breweries would do well to follow this example. For an appetizer we had the smoked salmon and the cucumber salad with herbed cheese spread really set this off. Very good start to dinner. I had a difficult time making up my mind about what to order and I went with the Ahi Tuna Salad. I'm a sucker for seared ahi tuna and the mixture of greens, mango & avocado made this an excellent dish. My wife enjoyed Lennie's meatballs. Found each to be distinct, fresh and good. Love the food and did my best to sample as much as possible. Pastas (chicken mushroom tortellini) are made in house and will cure the most home sick comfort food craving you could be having! Order their focaccia witch roasted garlic, get yourself some house fries with a side of their house made blue cheese (WOAH)! The JM Favorite Strom is a culinary delight , pizzas are all freshly made and the BBQ is one guy will crave!! Ordered the popular sandwich. It was cut into four pieces and only two of them had meat on it. The fries were $2 extra as well as being soggy and dark. The total for the sandwich and fries were $16! Not a good deal at all, especially with an addition of a large supreme pizza for $25 with its false description of "large." Add three beers and side of chilli, my order came out to be $70.
