I was sooooo excited to go to this restaurant! My husband made a reservation and surprised me with a dinner date here, so I was ready to be blown away! Unfortunately it was a big disappointment. We first walked in and of course the beautiful decor stuns you, but once you look around you realize that the place is much MUCH smaller than expected. In all the pictures it looks like it's a large restaurant but it's actually pretty small. When you get seated it takes the waiters a little while to come over and greet you, and the waiters are not overly friendly, it more so seemed like he was rushed. We ordered drinks and an appetizer to begin and placed our order for food at the same time. The chicken shawarma hummus came out first with naan bread. We finished the appetizer and still no drinks in sight. Our food came out and the drinks finally did as well. We had ordered two beers one of which was not very cold. We were excited to try the food as you can see everything being cooked on the grill, so it builds up anticipation. We ordered the lamb shank which comes with rice and greens, and we also ordered the steak kabob which comes over a toasted type of bread with spread and a sauce, as well as two extra naan breads. The lamb shank came out hot and it was very delicious. This was the star of the show! The steak kabob comes with about 5 small pieces of steak and leaves much to be desired. It was cold and the sauces and cracker/bread didn't really complement it well. The most disappointing thing was that it was cold so it was hard to really enjoy it. We were almost done with our meal and the naan had still not come out or the second beer we ordered in the process of dinner. Towards the middle of our meal, another server came by and asked if we wanted a box. My husband was in the middle of having a bite of his food and you could tell we were not done yet. The server even said "oh sorry I don't mean to rush you" so you could tell he knew what he was doing. I don't expect to be rushed through our meal when we had been waiting a long while for our meal to come out and when things got missed. Overall, for the prices and hype this place has, it leaves you feeling dissatisfied and disappointed. If you are looking for a place to take cute pictures and don't really care about the food then you'll love this place, but if you truly like to enjoy the food and look for great customer service, then there are way better places that can go above and beyond your expectations. read more

The ambiance of this Mediterranean restaurant is worthy of all the hype. It's a magical place with starry ceilings and a mystic setting where you feel like you're eating in Aladdin's world. The drinks and food, however, wasn't worthy of all the rave reviews, especially since it took a month to reserve our table. Maybe not the best food I've ever had but solid food nonetheless. Both were delicious and filling enough for 2 people. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is one of those places I genuinely can't stand. I'm usually pretty good at spotting an Instagram trap from a mile away, so I tend to avoid those "Instagrammable" restaurants since they're almost always tacky with mediocre food. This place, however, kept popping up on my radar for an entire year. Between ads, friends mentioning it, and the photos of the Persian decor and fiber optic lights, it was everywhere. Eventually, after seeing it enough times, I caved and went with my mom against my better judgment. Not shockingly, it turned out exactly how I expected. Overpriced Persian food that's just fine at best. If you've never had Persian food before, you will probably think it's good. If you actually know what Persian food is supposed to taste like, you'll probably leave disappointed. To be fair, the decor is beautiful. It's very detailed and culturally themed. I will give credit where it's due. But, I personally don't go to restaurants to stare at the walls. I go to eat, and I like to feel like my money was well spent. That definitely wasn't the case here. What really annoyed me was the crowd. Everyone taking 50,000 photos trying to get their perfect Instagram shot. It was theater in itself. If your main priority is posting photos and you don't mind mediocre food, you'll probably love it. For me, I won't be back. The lanterns, the river, the trees, the SKY!!! I can't even describe how beautiful it was. Unfortunately, the chicken hummus, lamb shank, and beef koobideh were the only items on the menu that are currently halal- kind of a bummer! The food was better than I was expecting it to be, but still didn't blow my socks off. We ordered a few of the mocktails, the olives, and the Soltani platter. From the moment we arrived, her attitude felt cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming. We had requested downstairs seating in our reservation because we wanted to enjoy the full atmosphere of the restaurant and celebrate my birthday by taking photos and videos with my family, but instead we were placed upstairs in a corner, away from the main experience of the restaurant. When we politely tried to speak with her and explain the situation, she showed no interest in helping or finding any solution. She would avoid eye contact, ignore us when we spoke to her, and when she did respond, her tone felt harsh and her attitude came across as rude and unprofessional. I even offered to wait as long as needed for a table downstairs, but she immediately shut down the conversation without making any effort to help. To be completely honest, the way we were treated made us feel very uncomfortable, and at times it even made us question whether we were being treated differently because we are Mexican. I can't say for certain, but that was honestly how the interaction made us feel. The manager and our server were both kind, professional, and did their best to improve the situation, and I truly appreciate their effort. However, first impressions matter. As someone who has worked in bars and restaurants for many years and business owner , I know how important hospitality is--especially from the person who welcomes guests. The bar, the large open gender neutral cubicles in their restroom was a bit of a shocking luxury with running fountain, beautifully decorated mirror and I was sad for leaving my phone at the table. As you pass the kitchen is right there in plain view with hanging leg of lamb, sizzling grill below. Busy but no noise or loud voices of any kind- a magical space to turn out platters of food. First off, it's beautiful obviously. They really commit to the experience, when you walk in, you're walking into a totally different world from outside. You enter and after checking in you go over a bridge over water and into a lounge with trees and stars on the roof. Outside of the aesthetic, it's actually a good restaurant too. I came to Leila's with my wife, dad and little sister. My dad and little sister are visiting from another state and this was totallyyyyy their idea. I read up on the restaurant beforehand and it seemed to have somewhat mixed reviews on social media. I can see why but not in a bad way. It's a Mediterranean restaurant and it's a specific style. It's more Persian style than a thing else. So let's get into it. Parking- There wasn't street parking even on a Monday! But there was a parking garage walking distance and I think it was $5 bucks to park. No biggie especially if you want to walk around to shops after or before. We made reservations and got seated a minute after we walked in. Atmosphere- Insanely cool! I saw someone on Yelp say try to sit downstairs to enjoy the decor and environment. That is 100% accurate. Upstairs is super nice too. It's quiet and cozy so I didn't mind at all. We had a booth upstairs too so I'm not complaining. The bathrooms were even cool, including the napkins to dry your hands. Decor gets a 20/10. The tables are a bit on the smaller size and you're most likely going to be ordering food that takes up the whole table plussss you have a water glass, tea (they serve it with your water and it's delicious) and another drink if you order extra. So the table itself may not seem roomy but you'll be fine. We had 4 people 4 drinks each, a platter, 2 sides of rice... so yeah the table was full. The Food- Here's why I think the mix reviews are happening. People are expecting food that is overloaded with preservatives or added spiced and salts that are unnecessary so they think the food is "mid" or not with the price. The food is just very clean. I didn't feel heavy or tired after, I had energy and didn't feel grossly full. The food had flavor and was prepared well. I thought the chicken was just a tiny like tiny tiny tiny touch dry but not enough to say it wasn't good. I do think people are expecting a more extensive menus and those addicting flavors that are full of additives. But... it's delicious and clean. So what did we get? Appetizer: Chicken Hummus- Freaking insane! Not your average hummus. Melts in your mouth and the chicken in the hummus was super tender! The Naan was made perfectly. Entree: Soltani Platter- 2 beef koobideh, 2 chicken joojeh, grilled veggies(eggplant and tomato), grilled Ananeim peppers, toum and cucumber yogurt. One of the sauces tasted like tzatziki sauce on steroids and it was delicious. Also, instead of the Basmati rice we got the Saffron rice. Salmon Skewer: Moist, flavorful salmon! Chicken Tahchin- Saffron rice with shredded chicken and a few other ingredients. This item was good I just personally am not a huge fan of the ingredients. Drinks: I tried their Rose and I wasn't a fan but to be fair I'm not a fan or Rose haha I had their Pinot Noir and it tasted as expected. My wife ordered the Majda and my sister the Bedouin Brew. Both enjoyed their drinks. The waiter Charlie was excellent. He explained everything, service was fast but relaxed as we never felt rushed. He was an excellent waiter and super kind. Shoutout to Charlie!! Based on what I described if that vibes with you then you'll definitely like this place and it's worth it. Honestly, only came here for the ambiance. The food was pretty mid. The interior was gorgeous and felt like I was in a theme park. Wished the food matched the attention to detail of the decor inside though. Generally everything my friend I split lacked flavor: - Hummus Bi Tahini: Was missing that garlicky aftertaste that you get at good Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurants. Pita textures were nice, but also lacked flavor. - Joojeh Chicken: Barely any chicken, but was the most flavorful food of the night. - Saffron Rice: Slightly flavored, otherwise just plain rice. My friend and I did walk-in, but there were no tables available so they gave us the option to eat at the bar which we took. The service here was pretty good. Overall, I think the ambiance carried my rating. The food alone would make me rank this even lower. The flavorless food just gave me the impression this food wasn't as authentic as I hoped, so I left feeling disappointed unfortunately. read more
