This restaurant was not good !!! Our waiter started off with an ugly attitude then just flew into a down right rude attack!! Paul is he name ( he spilt his name out of his mouth over three times ) we should know our servers name now !! I'm quoting Paul " we should know our servers name by now !! We waiting over one hour and 40 minutes for our salad , steak sandwich and burger ! The waiter then went on to tell us " it was our fault because we ordered a hamburger " really!! Then we asked for ice four times .. finally receiving we were over course ready to leave . So in order to get Paul's attention.. we waved , called hello out finally I snapped my fingers to get his attention. At this point he saw us but instead of coming over and apologizing for making us wait and forgetting about us he went into a spill about rudeness of me snapping at him!! Hope to add more stars at a future date. Tried LEGENDS for the first time. First, it's hard to describe the ambiance. The decor is tasteful, but nondescript. The walls were tastefully done with partial brick showing through. Considering the building was a car parts store for years, the owners did an outstanding job. Our party of four was seated at a booth: no table linens or decorations. The menus were plastic and looked like table mats. Silverware was wrapped in a paper napkins. The server was VERY pleasant, but obviously inexperienced/untrained. Although the restaurant did not appear busy, the drinks took an inordinate amount of time to get to the table. Appetizers were OUTSTANDING: stuffed mushrooms and an order of fried onion rings cooked just right. For the entrees, we had chicken and waffles (way too sweet), scallops (way too small), pork chops (cooked just right with lots of flavor), and grilled chicken breast (nice flavor as well). The garden salads were fresh and crisp; the sides of green beans were underwhelming. Oddly, some of the entrees came with a dinner roll plunked in the middle of the plate with no butter; the rolls quickly absorbed the juices and became a soggy piece of dough. Deserts were excellent: pear apple pie a la mode and cheesecake. Coffee was good, but the refill never came. Now for a BIG PET PEEVE: (1) Every time the settings were cleared we we told to keep our forks and knives. I suppose it's not too bad "sharing" from appetizer to main course, but main course to dessert? (2) putting the togo box in the middle of the uncleared dishes. When all's said and done, I'm rooting for LEGENDS to be a success, BUT (and this is a big "BUT") they need to train their waitstaff, dress up the interior so LEGENDS becomes a dining destination and experience, pay attention to the little details (cloth napkins, table linens, and candles/flowers), and review the menu (FOCUS on what you do best!). Take a field trip to the COPPERDOOR in Hayesville. LEGENDS' prices are fair/middle of the road. We'll give LEGENDS a little time to get through post COVID opening and hopefully be able to amend this review. read more

Went here one time as a single woman. Guess I should have set at the bar and not taken up space at a table. Steak was ok, prices are in line with steaks almost anywhere else. Had to tell the bartender how to make a dirty martini and then ask for more olive juice. Beautiful inside, waiter was attentive. Nice atmosphere. But, the kitchen lost our ticket. So the server rushed the kids food, which was nice, but my daughter's chicken tenders came out raw. When our food finally came, only half of the party got their food. One person's steak came out rare (asked for for medium well and a different cut of steak) and one persons never even came. Apologies were made, but it was the worst service ever. At the end two of the entrees were discount 15%, even though they were not able to eat the food. A little overpriced for an average meal. Service was good. Had the special prime rib - not the best or close to that I have had. Rolls were the same as you can buy in the frozen food section of any grocery store (I have them in my freezer). Food came out warm - not very hot. Green beans were tasty and the salad was good. Service was good. She stayed on top of our drinks and checked in on us regularly. But for a steakhouse, they can NOT cook a steak. Mine was cold and cooked medium when I asked for medium rare. One of the steaks was "butterflied" so it was cut in half and then cooked. And the pork chop was raw in some places. The appetizers were good but took a long time to come out. I stopped at this restaurant with my family while vacationing nearby. We were a party of 16, including 8 children. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I had the New York Strip steak with the cheese grits. The steak was perfectly cooked and tasty. The rest of our group loved their food as well. The kids enjoyed the selections on the kids menu. Delicious! We walked to the steakhouse after taking a stroll down the Murphy Riverwalk. We were a large group with kids and the staff was very gracious. They sat us at a private room which was a godsend with 8 energetic little ones. Awesome experience. We went for dinner. We were seated quickly and our server was delightful. Started with a delicious glass of Pinot Noir. Dinner was a ribeye steak cooked to perfection. The charred creamed corn was "off the charts". The portions were large too. The Texas steak fries were the perfect compliment. We waited over an hour for our food. They had to come back to our table twice to say they no longer had the soup and they screwed up cooking one of our meals and they could replace it with Mac and cheese. the appetizers showed up 40 minutes into our time there. the food was mediocre at best. with that said the server was a sweetheart and did her best. We came here for the first time on our anniversary. We ordered 2 glasses of wine as they don't serve cocktails & asked for the wine list as we wanted to order a bottle with dinner. When the appetizer came the queso was not hot. After salads, we ordered our bottle of wine (selection is awful). Our dinner came I had the The NY strip on my plate (rare) instead of the rib eye. My husband was given the rib eye (rare) instead of the NY strip medium ++. Still no wine. My husband sent the NY strip back. It came back still rare. He told the waitress that we weren't having a good night. She sent over another person who apologized & said they were short staffed. What that has to do with getting a steak right is confusing to me. My husband showed her a piece of the 2nd steak & said "does this look medium to u & I wanted medium +. She said no it's rare. Another person was sent over stating again they were short staffed & what could she do to make us happy. My husband said we're we're all set &apparently when he raised his finger - not in her face - she began yelling at my husband not to put his finger in her face & to leave. We left. For a restaurant to have the prices they do, assuming they are trying to attract the people who have the means to pay their prices, they need a whole lot more training in the restaurant business in order to succeed for those prices. Butter should not be served in the plastic 1 inch containers that you get at McDonalds; the side rod salad dressing should not be served in a plastic cup it should be served i a small ramekin. This restaurant is one of the worst dining experiences of my life. It was a 45 anniversary meal and the first time at this restaurant. I had heard the food was mediocre but in Murphy, NC the options are limited. We ordered glasses of wine while we looked at the menu. After one taste we both said it was un-drinkable. Our orders were miss plated. My sides were with my wife's meal and vise versa. My wife ordered very rare, I chose medium. Both were bleeding! We ordered a $47.00 bottle of wine and even while waiting to my meat cooked it was never delivered. The hostess told us all of the issues were due to the inability to hire staff. How stupid! That's not my problem. You open the door, you have invited me in to purchase your product. If you don't have staff then only seat, feed and serve the number you can handle. Then some hard ass women comes and tells me the staffing issues. She's no brighter than her help. She said you can have your meal for free or leave! We chose to leave. This is at a restaurant where the price tag was in the $150.00 ++ range. The bite of meat I ate was mediocre and the service was terrible. Even after the dinner was a disaster they made little or no attempt to help out. The best they had was "free or leave." I will tell every person I meet of this disgraceful presentation at Legends. Terrible. By the way this took the better part of an hour-and-a-half. read more

I've been to Legends twice, once when it first opened and more recently. Locals seem to like it but I find it all meat and potatoes with poorly cooked vegetables, sides, and unimaginative salads. The cooks don't know how to prepare a steak properly or the quality of meat is mediocre. Service is average. The owner has an answer or excuse for everything, so talking to the "manager" is useless. The atmosphere is bland. Three times is not the charm as I won't return. read more

All excited about trying out Legends in Murphy NC tonight. Not a great start, the host seemed to be confused about our reservation, but seated us right away. The table was dirty, same host came by to half-heartedly clean the table. The server was pleasant enough, but pressed us for our order. We like to enjoy a dining experience where we are not pressured. Served our appetizer and took dinner order, I requested that she slow it down and not put our food order in right away. Before we were finished with appetizer the soup and salad were coming out. Then dinner served with my filet ($43.00), was served very done when I ordered medium rare. The server now doesn't come back until my husband is finished with his meal and my filet has sat there uneaten. She does bring out a satisfactory filet, cooked medium rare, but the meal and experience is basically over at this point and I have to request a to go box. No apology for the overcooked filet, and no offer of any type of compensation - she didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert or another drink. Very unsatisfactory experience. read more

Just wanted to give some good vibes for a relatively new place. Went for a late lunch and had chicken and waffles and a Philly. Food was attractive, fresh and very well seasoned, good balance and tasty. Chicken and waffles were sweet but not cloying, philly was tender and flavorful with properly cooked veggies and an appropriate cheesy pull of provolone, steak fries were crispy and soft with good balance as well. Cody on the door was pleasant and professional, Victoria did a servers job pleasantly and efficiently and a special shout out to Riley (spelling?) in the kitchen. Very well done kids!! PS.
