A legend in its own time! This place earns high marks for food, atmosphere and service. It's non-chain and been operating in the same location as a tavern for an incredible 165 years. Very historic look. Check out the tin ceiling and tiled floor when you come in. Overall it's a small place, seating is tight and it will be loud, in a boisterous jolly kind of way. It's 21 and over only, however they do not allow smoking. Typical tavern menu - burgers and hot sandwiches, chili, fries, wings - made fresh to order and very good quality tasty food. BLT is excellent, grilled chicken was moist and tender (and enormous) - the Legends Cheeseburger was a big hit, a meal in itself. The sides are small (and cheap) but the sandwiches are so generous you really don't even need to add a side. The barmaids/servers were on the ball. As busy as it was they were in constant motion waiting on the patrons. Order taking was prompt and we were checked on several times. They were knowledgeable regarding the beer choices (8 on tap I believe plus many bottle and can options). Bit of a wait for food, but acceptable considering how busy they are, and keeping in mind you're not getting a nuked frozen patty that shows up in six minutes. One caveat: at busiest times the place may be packed to capacity and there sure ain't no room for a waiting area inside! I like Legends a lot and highly recommend. read more

Legendary, indeed! This is one of the oldest taverns in the state of Indiana -- if these walls could only talk. This was where my dad and other RHS teachers would go after school back in the 1970s and 1980s - I remember him telling stories of the "birthday fishbowl" that friends could just keep buying and pouring beers into back in the day. The old-school bar is full of historic character in the best way. Love all the album covers on the walls. It's not a big place, but that just lends to its cozy vibe. There are a few tables on the sidewalk as well. I've been wondering where to find a great burger in Richmond lately, and now I know. My cousin and I stopped in last night for dinner -- she had the Holliday burger with brie, and I got the Black Beauty with blue cheese and bacon. Both juicy, flavorful and delicious. Plus, an order of fried green beans with creamy curry dipping sauce. We were two happy customers. Will definitely be back when in town. read more

Went to grab a bite to eat after Pickleball yesterday and had a pork tenderloin. Best sandwich I have had in 45 years! The pork was so large that the bun only covered a third of the sandwich. Tender, juicy, and hit the spot! Onion rings were a plus, too! read more

This is a sports bar that has probably been here forever. It is somewhat of a dive from the outside but the food is great. I had the tenderloin with Cole slaw. The Cole slaw was good, sort of soupy. The tenderloin was fresh from the fryer. It is huge and comes with everything. The flavor was very good and I left full. They have a full bar with many beer options on draft. Ah, only in Indiana.....can one order a strawberry long Island. I visited here on a chilly Monday evening after the place was recommended to me by my best friend, and the place was about half full. This is definitely a locals kind of place but I would imagine they have visitors from other areas come as well to experience history. I looked over the menu and chose the cheeseburger, and added a 2nd patty, bacon and switched to cheddar cheese. For my side, I picked the chili. As far as taste, my favorite item ended up being the chili surprisingly. The burger was ok, had a nice seared taste as first but I didn't end up finishing the burger. I did finish the chili; however, and it was pretty cheesy. The long Island iced tea was pretty standard, but light because their version isn't made with coke. read more

My boyfriend and I had to wait about 20 minutes as the place was packed which told me it was the place to be!!! The food was fantastic I got the Holliday burger (with out mushrooms) and the garlic parm fries. I would totally order it again and the bar/waitress Brandi (very down to earth) did phenomenal job in serving drinks and bringing out food. My boyfriend had the Texas burger and jacks cheese balls, he would also totally order it again. Driving home from a trip east and found them on Yelp. Great food, great service and the ambience is fantastic. Their menu is extensive so something for everyone. If you are looking for Burger with rich flavor, this is your place. It is seasoned well, and they don't skimp on toppings. Portions are generous. I am currently eating low-carb and they have plenty of choices for me for a side as well instead of fries. If you get the regular burger, the Parmesan fries are a must. They have great pizzas, and a full bar. This place has been around for more than 100 years and I can see why... They do everything right. If you wanna listen to music they have a jukebox. The restrooms are clean and all the food is great. You can sit at the bar if you were by yourself on lunch hour. Excellent pub food. read more

bought a gift card over a month ago and can't get a refund or use the gift card because their system is "down" customer service is sad at best and I'm extremely disappointed at the run around for a gift card we can't use for weeks on end but this wonderful establishment def didn't have a problem with their system tha sells these gift cards that are as trash as the customer service I'll get it off the roof but nobody is going to enjoy it BERTIES FOR THE WIN!!!! do better!!!!! I came here for the first time several months ago to try the food and get a picture for a food app. I decided to come back for Yelp. I ordered the One That Got Away Fish Sandwich, Sweet Potato Fries, and a Diet Coke. The sandwich was good, and it had a big piece of fish on it. One might have to cut it up. The Sweet Potato Fries were good, too. I liked the pictures on the wall, including entertainers and sports figures. We sat at the bar. They have a small selection of craft beer on draught. I had a tasty kolsch. Boyfriend liked his food. He got a chicken sammy (one of his fAvorite things, so I know his opinion is solid) I got the Santa Fe egg rolls. They weren't bad but tasted like the cheap appetizers you find in the freezer aisle at Kroger. I ate them all though ‍ The bartender and someone sitting next to us suggested some cool spots to check out while we were visiting Indy. Super nice! Looking for a hometown, where-everybody-knows-your-name Cheers environment? That's Legends! Wayne County's oldest tavern, still operating today and offering some ah-mazing burgers and tavern food. If you are visiting on a weekend, be prepared for a wait to sit. It's a small place and gets pretty packed (keep aware of this if you are avoiding crowds right now - they have carry-out available too). There isn't a place to wait, so I suggest arriving before 5 pm on a weekend night. The burgers are great, I had the Holliday burger and it was so good. With a side of parmesan fries, which come with a ranch dipping sauce. I'm a fan of any restaurant that offers dipping sauces with their fries. They've just introduced their new Truffle Fries. My husband ordered a hot dog, which is deep-fried and comes with as many toppings as you want. Very comparable to the size and quality of a Chicago-dog, which they also have on their menu. They are pretty accommodating when it comes to customizing menu items. Although we waited a while for a table, the "regulars" here were very friendly - chatting with us and even offering me a seat at the bar. As I said, it's very much like a Cheers environment. As far as c*vid precautions, the staff were wearing masks and so were most (but not all) of the customers wore them as they left, and arrived at their tables. And tables are not spaced 6-feet apart, it's a small restaurant so you will be very close to other customers if you choose to dine-in. read more

The best burger I have ever had. Seriously, we were traveling to Columbus Ohio from Indianapolis on a Thursday and stopped here to try a place we'd never been. It was so good we stopped again on Friday on our way home. The blackened burger with blue cheese is spectacular. The Brie burger is also great. And the Southside Smash Burger is unbelievable! Local neighborhood bar that has been there for about 100 years I believe. Full menu, great/strong drinks and 5 or 6 beers on tap. I had their BLT and fried cauliflower. It was solid. Limited seating and parking on the street or you can use the parking lot of one of the businesses next door. They are known for their burgers and pizza. Bar tenders are friendly and easy on the eyes. My issue is that on the menu it says tortilla chips, but it was a burrito sized flour tortilla that was fried, I was disappointed in how little chicken was on it. My husband had the burger and said it was great. I would definitely come back due to the good beer, liquor selection and nice atmosphere. 2019! This place never lets me down. It has the best burger in town with great drink prices, awesome people and a hometown feel! The menu continues to expand and add more and more variety without skimping on quality. Now I've tired out legends a few times and each time I get a different experience. The first one I went I was there with my team after working out. It was 5 of us and it took us about 30 minutes before they took our food order and about 45 mins before it came out. The alcoholic drinks came out super fast. But food took a while. The ambiance and fantastic super chill. The second time I went, I went with my team once again. This time it was like 15 of us. They took our food order as soon as we sat down and it took maybe about 30 minutes for the food to come out. Which wasn't bad. Considering there was a whole lot of us. I ordered the legendes burger which is what they are known for. And each time I got it it was DELICIOUS. It comes with sweet potato waffle fries. Now I'm not going to lie. I don't like sweet potatoes, but everyone said that they are fantastic. So I tired them and they are correct. They are delicious. The drinks are pretty well priced and the food as well. I think I spend about $10 for a drink and burger. Which I don't think is bad. read more

Legends is a great place to go for drinks, especially with coworkers on a Friday. They have a nice classic, wooden bar area and the building itself is from the 1800's. I highly recommend the wings they offer and their pizza is also fantastic. My only critics are that there are not enough tables for everyone and the space is very crowded during busy hours. Because of this, it also gets very noisy and service can be slow. Definitely a place to check out for those that enjoy the bar scene. read more
