We were traveling on I-70 and wanted to find something unique and had gluten free options. We had to go a couple miles off the interstate, but it was worth it! The host and waitress were very friendly. The restaurant is clean and has character. The food was delicious! I got the Greek pizza with cauliflower crust which was nice and crispy. My husband got the gyro sandwich and my boys got the Sheba burger. They both said the burger got 5 stars! They also got a small brownie for dessert which was warm and rich! read more

We were in town for the first time and looking for somewhere to get an early dinner. The reviews of this place seemed good and so we gave it a shot. We weren't disappointed. I had the reuben and my husband has the gyro. They were both good but could have used more meat on them for the price, that is why I couldn't give it five stars. The service was good and everyone was very friendly. The side of pasta salad was very unique. We will be moving to town and will definitely go back and eat here again. read more

Glad we finally took a chance on Little Sheba's. Yelp has it misclassified (at this writing) as "Pizza, Sports Bars" which really didn't grab me...I hope they will take my advice and find a better way to describe this tavern/restaurant. It's a classy establishment - located in an old, old building with interior exposed brick and a high tin ceiling, big front windows letting in plenty of natural light. It's divided into two long narrow dining rooms, a barroom, another dining/party room, plus a covered outdoor dining patio. Wow! I noticed how attentive the staff was overall. Our waiter was John, who appeared seconds after we were seated to get drink order, gave us the perfect amount of time to peruse the menu, and checked on our satisfaction with the food soon after we dug in. He and the other waitstaff were in constant motion through both the indoor and outdoor seating area. If customers appeared to be waiting (there were several pickups while we were there), staff members would always ask them "Have you been helped?" as they passed by. The busy staff were all smiling and cheerful and seemed happy to be of service. The menu is centered on quality sandwiches, plus soups, salads, specialty apps and a few designer pizza options. They have a separate children's menu. And, specials every day including some more serious entree choices. It was St. Patrick's Day so we were feeling corned beef and got the Reuben. Excellent! Piled high with thin sliced corned beef and plenty of tangy kraut. I think the thousand island dressing must have been homemade, and served on thick soft brown rye bread. We were both quite pleased with it, as well as the creamy potato salad side. After eating we checked out the barroom which looked pretty classic including some funky decor. Unfortunately the seating was only backless stools which does not conduce to lingering there. I saw some old photos here on Yelp and I definitely saw better bar seating. So, not sure what happened but that was not a change for the better. I was also disappointed to see mean signs forbidding smoking in the outdoor patio. I mean, it's outdoors for Pete's sake. I was very pleased, however, with the complete absence of television sets. I think there was one small one in the bar. Will be back for sure. read more

Yelp is wrong they're open till 9 on Saturdays! This is gradually becoming my favorite place to eat in Richmond. The menu isn't flashy but everything I've eaten there is SOLID. Service is good. Perhaps it was the unintended consequences of my search terms that landed me a Little Shebas. I generally limit my searches to "must eat." It's a bit outdated, but it helps to narrow down the choices when Instagram can't come through. Menu seemed straightforward, bar fare...sandwiches & sides. I got the "pasta salad." I was going to go to a new restaurant this particular day, but all the parking spaces were full! Since I haven't been to Little Sheba's in over a year, I decided to come back here. I ordered the Rascal's Grilled Cheese, Kettle Chips, and a Coke Zero. The food was delicious! It was just as delicious as it was before. The service was very good and friendly. Being a local restaurant, it was well taken care of and does everything to get people to come in. They have an area for outside seating, but the weather was not warm enough to have people seated outside. I probably will try to go back more often, hopefully soon. read more

My hubby ordered the Timothy's Homeboy, 1/2 lb burger, Swiss cheese, tartar sauce, pickle & lettuce on a grilled Kaiser roll. He had the baked beans as his side but was disappointed there were no fries as an option. He really liked it though & ate every bite. I ordered Dani's Reuben & had the potato salad as my side. Had the Marcos steak hoagie I believe it was called. I'm sorry but it was terrible, I barely could eat half of the sandwich. Ordered a side salad and it was a mound of lettuce with two handfuls of shredded cheese and some diced tomatoes on it, a very basic and bland salad. The service was great though, the waitress was friendly and prompt at checking on us and the meal arrived hot and in a timely manor. This is my first time back to Shebas since the new owners took over. I was pleasantly surprised by the food and the service! I had the Birria Tacos, they were a little salty but had good flavor and were nice and crispy! My daughter had spaghetti and enjoyed it, the cheese pizza had great crust! In the historic Depot section of downtown Richmond is a great restaurant/bar at the intersection of Fort Wayne Avenue and North D Street. The restaurant occupies the first two renovated buildings on the corner and the bar (called Gini's Place) occupies the next two. You can freely walk between the buildings without leaving and can order food in any of them. As if that weren't enough options for seating, they have outdoor seating on the south end of the building. Free street parking is available in the area though it fills up fast. I was able to grab a spot on N D Street and selected a spot in the bar. They have a stage that brings in live performances on Tuesday nights and on weekends. I decided to go with the Sheba Burger for my lunch option. This huge sandwich was delicious! Two quarter pound beef burgers are served on an onion roll bun with Swiss cheese, bleu cheese dressing, onion, lettuce, bacon, and tomato. Yum! The only negative was that the lettuce was shredded which made it hard to keep it in the bun. The sandwich comes with a selection of sides. I went with the cole slaw which is a sweet style slaw. They even threw in a pickle spear on the side! Be aware that if you sit at the bar, there isn't very deep leg room, so it can be a bit difficult to get close to the food without pressing your knees against the bar. When I think of the area around the train depot, I either think of getting on a train to Virginia as a child or I think of the drunks and druggies but I never think of successful businesses. Walking into this restaurant brought back memories of Sylvania's at a time when it was pretty much the only thing on Fort Wayne Avenue that wasn't trouble. Little Sheba's tells me that's all gone and that the area is successful, and that's pleases me to no end. It's still not that comfortable for me in the area. So, I decided to try it again, having been there once since 2008. That time, it was so packed, it seemed almost difficult to find air. That's a great thing. This time, at almost 2 p.m., there weren't many customers at all. I had to really read the menu and settled on the Italian Stallion Sub. $7.99 is a bit more than say, Penn Station, but I hoped that it would be worth it. It came with a side item such as chips, cole slaw, or apple sauce. The waitress really took time to explain things, which was great, since I had no idea. I was pleased that they had Raspberry Iced Tea, also. The tea was good. The sandwich seemed a bit salty, for whatever reason. The seemed to have used a sandwich press on it to heat and flatten it a bit. The size of the roll was a bit smaller than expected (no, I didn't have a Subway-bound tape measure!) but the taste was good, despite the extra saltiness. The dill pickle spear was crunchy, as it should be, and the chips were bagged, which isn't so terrible--they're often served that way in Philly. I came away with a good feeling about the whole experience. It's no wonder they're popular. read more

Loved this cute little hole in the wall place! I came up to Richmond to visit and was told to definitely come try this place out. I am so glad I did! I got the Italian Stallion Sub with our onions and got their potato salad. My food was delicious but my waitress was not great at all. Tonja was my waitress and was rude to me from the get go. I initially ordered my sub without onions and tomatoes but changed my mind on the tomatoes. I told her I wanted tomatoes not even a few minutes after I gave her my order and I could hear her yelling to the cook about how I changed my mind and wanted the tomatoes now. The cook or whoever else that was in the kitchen brought me my food and was so polite and asked if I needed anything else. The food came out quickly was hot and tasted great! After I got my food Tonja never checked on me once until she came and threw the receipt tray on my table and run off again. Its like she wouldn't let me get a word in to try and ask for a box and a lid for my Italian dressing. Then when I was able to ask she was in the middle of chewing something and said sorry I'm trying to eat all while holding her hand over her mouth. Food wasn't bad but service was lacking. My wife ordered a cheeseburger which arrived without cheese. No server in sight for over 10 minutes so she went ahead and ate half of it. When she mentioned it to the server and showed her that there was obviously no cheese, the server said "that's weird" and walked away. No apology, no discount, nothing. When the original owners had the place, they treated everyone like family. The latest owners, or at least their wait staff, seem too cool to care. Doubt if we go back. read more

It's my last day in Indiana so my bf and I managed to convince his parents that we wanted to dine out for lunch (to which they very hesitantly agree lol) and i read reviews that this place was good. I'm thinking, it's only 3 reviews...but 2 of them are Elites...maybe I should trust their judgement. So I do. Good call on my part. It's easy to find, quick parking, and we get seated by this lovely waitress who reminds me of those moms you see on TVs that are really cheery and very very hospitable. I instantly felt at home. We get seated and she's quick to get our drinks. Since I didn't know what to get, she recommended a Garden-burger if I was looking for something "light" but I told her "Oh no, please, what's tasty that you would personally recommend?" She recommends Matt's Chicken Gyro and my bf (having been on a non-red-meat-diet) instantly orders the Dirty Rotten Scoundrel. MATT'S CHICKEN GYRO $5.99 (with Potato Salad side) DELICIOUS. The description read "flavorful grilled chicken gyro strips topped with honey mustard, lettuce, and tomatoes, all stuffed in a grilled pita". It's exactly that except she forgets to mention how absolutely well all the ingredients complemented each other. I felt like I ate a really healthy meal packed with flavor. In addition, she also recommended their famous potato salad. There's something extra in that potato salad that really brings out the tomato and also adds a little crunch and tangyness to the salad. Delish. Can't stress that enough. DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDREL - $5.99 (with side of chips) Like the description, it's "lots of ham, turkey topped with pineapples, green peppers, bacon, and Sheba's special sauce, all on grilled pita bread." I tell ya, that special sauce is what made this sandwich so good! That and the prominent bacon in it too. (I swear my boyfriend is convinced that bacon is the best thing given to man by God. You ever watch Will Smith's "I am Legend"? And there's this scene where his female guest cooks the bacon and he goes all nuts and yells "I WAS SAVING THAT BACON!!!"....and up to now I never understood why bacon was that damn good. My bf's kinda like Will Smith in that sense.) He says that despite all the meat, the pita bread with the veggies really brings out the best bite. I had a bite of his juicy sandwich but I still preferred my awesome chicken gyro one better. :) SHEBA'S KILLER BROWNIE (large) - $3.99 It's killer large, and killer good. Very rich in chocolate yet still not too sweet where it hurts the throat. In addition, it's homemade, which made the taste all the more better. And btw, when it says, huge, it's HUGE. (see picture). That brownie was almost a 6-in-square! Oh and they put two cherries on top. cute ;) All in all, when I do visit Richmond again, I would definitely come back and even try to convince the conservative parents to come too. Best part? PRICE. Almost all the sandwiches are $5.99 - $6.50. And they aren't small sandwiches either. It's enough to satiate your empty tummy. I promise. Really excellent sandwiches served fresh out of the kitchen. Quick friendly service, best if you eat there, but take out is fine, too. One of the best BLT's ever, no soggy bacon here! The Italian Stallion sub is served hot, the melted mozzarella makes the sandwich downright dreamy! No french fries, though. You can pick Ruffles potato chips (boring) or potato salad (highly recommended, but prefer fries or o-rings), or cottage cheese (blech! I love cottage cheese, just not as a sandwich side). Just wish they had french fries, and/or onion rings, that would make the place five stars! They do serve mozzarella sticks and jalapeno poppers, so its not like they don't have french fry capabilities, they need to add them to the menu already. I need me some fries with my sandwich! Parking is also a pain, sometimes have to do a few rounds around the block to find a space. The lot that is attached to the building only parks 6 or 7 cars and you will likely end up parking on the street. read more

Absolutely AMAZING! I found this place on Yelp. I was looking for something off the beaten path with good reviews. I drove 50 minutes and across a state line for the sole purpose of coming here. So, upon arriving, they already had a big job ahead of them. We were immediately invited to seat ourselves. In less than 2 minutes our server approached and began to take our drink order. She was very kind and helpful. She easily made us feel welcome. One of the absolute BEST parts about Little Sheba's is that they have Diet Vanilla Coke on fountain! It was amazing. They have typical soft drinks and a full bar service. Drinks were returned so quickly we had to ask for extra time. The menu had so many things we wanted to try that it took us a few minutes to decide. After finally placing our order, we waited less than 10 minutes for an appetizer to arrive. It was hot, and incredibly delicious. Our main entrees were delivered less than 10 minutes after that. We were very impressed. They were not swamped but definitely busy. Our server was great. She was attentive and very on top of everything we needed. Little Sheba's is quite the drive for dinner but we have not one single complaint about our experience. 2 Adult entrees, 2 sodas, an appetizer and a kids combo meal and we were out under $35 including a generous tip. We love the cozy atmosphere, the kind service, and delicious food. We have tried a lot of the menu. The specials have to be my favorite. The meatloaf sliders with homemade buns, mashed potatoes and gravy were sooo savory and comforting. My husband had the steak tacos. He said they were so tender and he will definitely be back for more! Dessert.... Save room for homemade peanut butter pie! It was light and fluffy with a crunchy chocolate crust. This treat has just with enough peanut butter to not overwhelm like others we have tried. I don't usually do reviews.
