We have been going to Ole Rooste for the past 5 years. It has ALWAYS been a 5star GO-TO place, until this past weekend 12/6/25. EVERYTHING was different this time. It felt as if it is under NEW Ownership. We were greeted by a grumpy older lady. We did not see the staff that we normally see. The servers that we did see were very nice. I gave the Servers the star in the review. They were the ONLY stars there. The menu had changed since the last time we were there, about a month ago. LOTS fewer options, more Pizza & Italian. The quality of the food was extremely lacking. My Wife had the fried shrimp basket. It had 5 small flat shrimp (like the ones at the buffets) some fries & a drink. If you took the breading off of the shrimp it was about the size of a guppy. My son also had the Shrimp basket. The shrimp was the same as above. He had 2 sides, about a tablespoon each, Cottage cheese & Broccoli Salad. I was looking for the Bacon Cheese Burger, I was told "it has been removed from the menu & replaced by the Smash Burger, much less meat in the Smash Burger". The server said "you can order a Smash Burger and add bacon & Cheese" (up charge). I opted for an old favorite Tenderloin, it was OK, nothing great. This is my second time at this location. The food is always very tasty. Today they had wings and boneless wings on special. I opted for the boneless wing with their Memphis rub. They make the rub in house. I also went with the ranch as it's made in house. Let me tell you these were some of the tastiest boneless wings I've ever had. They were nice and crispy super large chunks and that rub was delicious! The ranch was phenomenal! The ambience of this place is very clean and comfortable. I went in through the to go order area. It's definitely one of the nicer places in Connersville Indiana. Here's my reason for the four-star. Oh young lady taking my order was super friendly and said, where are you parked? I will bring your order out when it's done. I waited over 25 minutes before my food was brought out. Hopefully that was just a one time situation. Great pulled pork plan and BBQ ,green beans mac cheese . well packed all was great food . no complaints' Highly recommend . the owners very nice . restaurant very clean decatored very nice and . waitress are sweet always time to speak at their busiest time and owners' as well. The fried chicken dinner with potatoes and green beans on Sunday afternoon was excellent. I was especially in love with the breading on the chicken, and the fact that the chicken was very juicy. The green beans were seasoned great! The restaurant is very clean. This would be a great place for birthday dinners for parents, or a good family brunch. read more

Great spot for lunch! It looks like Johanna Gaines designed the interior with white ship lap and bronze fixtures. I ordered the chicken salad which came with crackers. Others in our party had burgers. The favorite burger was the Stackhouse Burger. Try the cheesecake too. It's delicious. read more

We had a great meal at the Ole Rooste tonight. I had the Traditional Cheeseburger with Tater Tots. The burger was perfect and the toppings were fresh and crisp. I opted for the Tater Tots...which were just the right crispiness on the outside and soft on the inside. My nephew had the BLT. I asked him how it was and he said "bacon!! need I say more?" My mom and oldest brother had the Smothered Chicken with roasted veggies and the other brother had Steak...all reported to be very good. The clear winner of the night, however, was the White Cheese n' Mac...it was the best! My nephew declared he wants to come back here for his birthday dinner just for the Mac n' Cheese alone. Every time we've driven past, the parking lot has been filled with cars. That is a sure sign of a very good restaurant. We finally decided to give it a try. We loved the simple, bright decor. Definitely a slice of Magnolia Farms in the Hoosier Heartland. The owner greeted us warmly and we were quickly seated. There is nothing quite like this place for some distance. Well kept, great food, friendly staff, fun and fresh decor, and priced right. I had the sirloin steak (which was cooked to perfection) with a side salad, broccoli, and a roll, my husband had the chopped steak smothered in onions and mushrooms, a Caesar salad, white cheddar Mac and cheese, and a roll. The portions were extremely generous, the salads were actually more like mini chef salads. You could tell everything was made from scratch. This was further confirmed by the roll of butcher's paper in the entry that warned this was the last week for the seasonal spinach salads. We were stuffed, but decided to share a piece of blackberry cobbler. For half the price of what other places would charge for cobbler, we got a large slab of piping hot cobbler and two full scoops of ice cream. We will definitely return and bring family and friends in the future. Maybe next time we will remember to take photos if we order dessert again. read more

I don't understand the rave reviews of this place. The food is very Sysco or Gordon's food serviced based. Very little tastes or even looks home made. The staff is very nice and the place is clean and well lit and I just wish the food was better. I have had better dinner rolls served to me on a air plane. I would stick with burgers and fries and ribs, which are solid but nothing special, and not venture with anything else, least of all the "home made" chicken salsa which came right out of a can. read more

This is such a cute place! You can tell they put a lot of hard work into remodeling this building. The staff was very friendly and very helpful and the restaurant is CLEAN! And now for the food... absolutely amazing! My husband got the fish and chips and he said best he's had around here for sure. The kids and I got their 6oz sirloin and they were cooked perfect and they were so good! I'm even going to talk about the roll that came with the meal. It was perfect! It wasn't dry at all and just tasted homemade. All around I would highly recommend this place. To the owner, as I was waiting for my food I looked at my husband and told him that you have thought of everything. All the small details have been taken care of, down to where you store your rolled silverware. I can tell you put a lot of thought and heart into this and it hasn't gone unnoticed. Delightful lunch at this new spot in Connersville. Lovely ambiance with more than a shot of Joanna Gaines/Magnolia Home pastiche. Variation of seating options--booths, banquette tables and large rounds. Soups, salads and sandwiches I saw on adjacent tables all looked yummy. I opted for a BLT and tots. Fries, cole slaw or soup are other side options. The Texas toast came with one grilled side and soft on the side that faced the sandwich ingredients... my favorite way to eat a BLT. The pile of tots was VERY generous and more than I could eat. At $8 my lunch was a great value. As I come to town about every other month, I'll definitely be back. read more
