On entering around 1:30 pm on a Thursday, there were two couples standing at the unattended "please wait to be seated" sign, and I observed about half the tables in the front dining room had guests; the other half were covered with dirty dishes. Not wanting to spend an excessive amount of time, I peeked around the corner and observed two open seats at the small bar, so we took them instead. We had to move a dirty plate and glass over to the end of the bar. After about six minutes of sitting there with no bartender appearing we decided to just get a drink, and go elsewhere later for food. Finally a gal approached us, and it seemed that she was the only staff member on duty for both dining rooms and the bar. She was nice enough, but it was disappointing that she couldn't have just removed the dirty dishes which were six inches from my husband's elbow, not to mention the bar wasn't wiped down. The dishes were still there when we left. We caught her passing through after a while to ask for the tab, which was $7.77. My husband put down a $20 bill and she brought back $12.00. Now I realize some places are in a state of panic hysteria over "penny shortages" but you don't just round UP a guest's tab and certainly not by almost a quarter. Some places give you a discount for cash; this one penalizes you. The decor is nice, rustic and countrified. I don't know how the food is obviously.
