There was a table of regulars drinking coffee and talking politics and shooting the bull. It's a salt of the earth kind of local diner. A table opened up by the door after ten minutes. The menu is filled with comfort food. Most meals under $10. Nothing fancy, omelettes, burgers, sandwiches. Our server was sweet and recommended the tenderloins. The dining room is simple. Chairs and tables and a few booths. On the back wall are old photos of veterans. Local veterans being remembered by the cafe. My husband had the Big Tenderloin (which is award winning) with seasoned fries. The tenderloin was as big as his head. The meat was moist and tender and the breading seasoned well. The fries were crispy thin-cut with a few spices. He ate half the sandwich. I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It was also seasoned with a crunchy breading similar to the tenderloin. The meat was moist. The cole slaw was creamy and sweet....delicious. They do a robust business in-house and carry out. If you are looking for avocado toast and and oat milk latte, this is not the place to come. If good old comfort food will suffice, then it just doesn't get better than Lumpy's.

Not sure if there was an issue that day with the soft serve machine, but I only live 3 miles away and by the time I got home, they were half melted and a big pile of goo. I guess I just wish that if something was wrong with the ice cream machine that they had told me upfront and I could've made a different decision. It was 830 at night and I didn't want to go home and have to put ice cream in the freezer for an hour before we could enjoy it. Usually we love banana splits here, and the melted concoctions tasted good. We just all had to eat them with a plate under the container so it didn't run all over the place. And serve burgers, fries, onion rings, phosphates, sodas, ice cream, floats, banana splits, sundaes, and pies. Their tenderloins are hand breaded and burgers are never frozen. It's very small inside, only 5 bar stools at the bar and a table that seats two, and two outside tables that seat two in warmer weather. So plan to get your orders to go if there is is a crowd or you have a group!
