White Meat Meal, JoJo Fries, Coleslaw, Roll, and Coke Zero
Martha H.

I always liked the J's Dairy Inn when they had a location in Richmond, IN. I loved their chicken and especially their JoJo Fries. I remember them catering our Christmas dinner at Sears when I worked there many years ago. Unfortunately, the one in Richmond closed, and the only location left was the one in Liberty. I have since longed for J's chicken, but I just never got around to going there. One night, I was on my way to a show, so I decided to stop there for supper. I ordered the White Meat Meal, which came with JoJo Fries, Coleslaw, a Rock, and I also ordered a Coke Zero. One usually has to wait 20 minutes for your meal, but I had to wait 20-25 minutes. It was well worth the wait. They want to make your meal just right. The chicken was absolutely delicious, and the JoJo Fries was absolutely the best. The food was the way I always remembered it. They also serve dairy treats, like ice cream, which I didn't order. I was too full! The one thing I don't understand is why they charge you a fee if you pay for your meal with a credit card. I remember that at the Richmond location. If someone can answer my question, I greatly appreciate it. The chicken and all of the food was one of the best. If I ever come through Liberty, I will be back.

Chocolate malt
Lisa W.

Stopped in this little diner for milkshakes. Was pleasantly surprised to see they had malts! I haven't had a chocolate malt in years! Smells like a good old grease pit when you walk in. If you don't like that kind of thing pass, but if you love it stop in!!

Picked up a bucket of chicken on Thursday evening. The chicken was good but the rolls had mold on the bottom.

You can always count on a good meal and an ice cream treat here at J's. If the parking lot is packed. What's that tell ya?

There's a traditional burger called Signature Burger, then numbered 1-3 depending on how many patties. They have three fancier burgers -- Mushroom & Swiss, BBQ or Jalapeño. There are three types of chicken sandwiches -- Regular, Mango Habanero or Nashville Hot. They also offer chicken wings or chicken tenders with 8 sauces to choose from. Side options are waffle fries or onion rings. If you have a sweet tooth, they offer six flavors of milk shakes. I went with the Signature Burger 2 and a side of waffle fries. In addition to the two patties, it comes with two slices of American cheese, caramelized onions, signature sauce and mayonnaise. It was ready in under 10 minutes and I was on my way. They do have about ten tables if you want to dine inside. The burger comes wrapped in foil and stayed pretty warm by the time I got home. The flavor was excellent but after a few bites it almost seemed too decadent for a burger. I'm not sure how else to explain it other than it was so rich and dense that I think my taste buds were confused. I couldn't really taste the signature sauce, so I think next time I would ask for extra signature sauce and get it without mayonnaise. The fries were crispy and all in all it ended up being the perfect amount of food. I'd be interested to try one of the chicken sandwiches next time.

The young woman who came out told me she only came out because they weren't busy. I told her it wasn't an issue and I was fine ordering inside. Maybe this was obvious to everyone else but if the in-car ordering wasn't available they should remove it from the menu board. It seemed odd to have customers walk in to order then have food carried out to my car, which is what happened. The patio seating is enclosed so there is seating "indoors". I think that would've been a better option. I was excited about their sourcing from Tyner Pond but don't think they do this anymore. The fries definitely did not match any description I read and I definitely was not expecting a small bag of crinkle cut fries. These are not worth ordering for $3. I ordered a double burger but a single would've been fine-it was quite large. It was good, but I wish the onion was sliced thinner- it made the whole thing difficult to hold and was just a lot of onion. The root beer is Sprecher's on tap. Overall a disappointment. There is no 'meat taste' at all so get in here and give these a try. I had a feeling I would love it and I did. It's a large yet cozy venue with the number 5 featured prominently in assorted art as well as on the tables. The building is historic, lots of wood, brick and brass railings plus a stunning Victorian bar back. We ate at the bar which was very comfortable. Little sliding wooden trays to make it convenient for eating, then just move them out of the way when you're done. They have 10 or so craft beers on tap and a full bar. We had the opportunity to sample a couple brews and we both enjoyed our beer choices and the food. Prices were fair, and tax is included in the menu price. I really want to shout out our bartender/server. Didn't get her name but she had round glasses with eyeglass chain attached and was on the shorter side. She was very customer focused, answering all our first-timer questions, attentive, appropriately conversational, and definitely on the ball as she was handling tables too. Top notch service. About those railings: unless there's a special back entrance, the venue may not be wheelchair accessible. There are two or three steps at the entrance, and if you want the bar instead of booth or table, another three or four. Both have sturdy solid handrails. I do not fault them for this; probably the historic building is exempt, but just wanted to note it for anyone needing that info. All in all a five star experience and I hope to return soon.
