We've dined here numerous times and enjoyed them all. Burgers and fries and a variety of pizzas of course, but menu is surprisingly extensive for a small town, down home pub. In the evening, the lights are low. The atmosphere screams country comfort, and you can't miss that train a-comin' since the establishment is just feet from the tracks. Red mule images abound, and there's a genuine harness horse sulky surmounted atop the bar, forming a sort of archway where you step up to get your tab. You enter the bar through a wooden sliding door from the vestibule. The bar seats about a dozen, and there are about five booths plus some tables. They do a lot with somewhat limited space. Portions are just right- not huge. Among the many thing we've enjoyed here are the Philly cheesesteak sandwich, burgers of course, excellent grilled chicken salad (love their homemade dressings), grilled pork tenderloin (get it medium with some pink inside), as well as the Mexican platters and the filet mignon. And they have the tastiest coleslaw I've ever encountered. Barmaids/servers are super friendly and make you feel at home. We really like the Red Mule and plan to keep coming back. Just follow the red horseshoe prints and I'll see you there.

Red Mule is the definition of a hole in the wall in the absolute best way. This place hasn't changed in the 20 years I've been eating there, except for the addition of the outdoor patio. My go-to order is the Combination Burrito and Potato Skins, which seems like a weird duo, but with the red sauce slathered over both it's a match made in heaven. The Auk is named after my dad's boss, Aukerman, which really cements the hometown feel and why this place will always hold a special place in my heart.

Stopped in and got the lunch special at the mule the other day. Special was a Bacon cheeseburger with smoked mayonnaise and fries. The burger was really good and had great flavor. The fries were okay but the portion size was quite small. But overall not a bad lunch special for $6.99.

Stopped in for lunch with hubby. The ambiance & food was typical of a Mexican chain restaurant…read more There was a big bar & several TVs to watch sports. The restaurant is very clean. The service was attentive. The food tasted about average, not bad but didn't wow me either. My husband liked his taco & enchilada. My chimichanga was smothered in cheese sauce & tasted okay. The tortilla chips weren't hot as they usually are in a Mexican restaurant. I'm guessing it's because service is slow due to road construction directly in front of the restaurant. We'll probably come back for dinner when the construction is completed.

It's in an awkward building that shares a driveway and parking lot with a funeral home/cemetery…read more Be mindful of parking spots marked for the funeral home. Strangely I did not observe any spots marked for disabled parking. It's very loud inside in an annoying way. Currently being newly opened it was jam packed due to the dearth of restaurants in the area. The music was too loud and the tables are very close together. The inside lighting was kind of weird where we sat. We had at least five different people involved in the serving process which I do not like. The personal feeling of "our server" was missing. There seemed to be a lot of staff on hand. Chips and salsa were just meh but at least they're free. Not at all pleased with the guac in terms of taste, appearance and price to portion. I had Chili Verde chicken. The green sauce was very tasty. Meat was not overly tender and it seemed kind of lonely with no vegetables mixed in. The column heading on the menu seemed to indicate all the meats below were cooked with onions, peppers and tomatoes and I even asked the person who took the order but he also read it wrong. My husband had the grilled tilapia and pronounced it "fair." At least he got onions. So I'm not going to say one and done, but will probably not be back again until it's time for the outdoor patio.
