My cousin's wife sent me a text message to meet them at "El Ro" and I drove around the west side of town for hours and finally, ended up at El Rodeo, guessing that was where she meant. (Well, almost...I really didn't know.) Phew! I've been to all three locations in town but this one seems just right. Of course, if they would change locations to accommodate more customers, they might have similar trouble that the east side location is having. They had a decal on the exterior window saying "Yelp users love us! Read the reviews!" which was amusing and so true. Three of us went today but one was running late. They seated us and someone brought two sets of utensils, instead of three sets. Oops. They got the drink order just right, though, and apparently listened carefully. For some strange reason, people think I want a diet drink and this time I ordered (and got!) sweet iced tea. We got the food within a reasonable amount of time, but I've seen other times when this didn't happen at either location. That they were on top of things at just past noon is incredible. If they'd brought an extra set of utensils, we'd have been set. I wish they could apply their techniques to the Chinese and Italian restaurants in town. I'd ordered an enchilada, rice, and beans but I was surprised when they didn't ask if I wanted beef, chicken, or cheese. Maybe, I look like a beef person? Mooooo! I also noticed that they haven't returned to the shredded beef they were using a couple of years ago. Obviously, to maintain pricing, they've made a compromise. You'd think that they'd default to cheese, but considering the price of cheese is probably double the price of ground beef, I suppose I can understand why. Except for the lack of utensils, it all went quite well. I can overlook that in light of everything else because service is generally flawless at this location.

Who would've thought I would find a decent Mexican place in a small town in Indiana? Surprisingly, I did. Right before my bf and I got watch District 9 at the Dollar Theater (which, btw, great movie!), we decide to grab a bite to eat and he tells me to look on Yelp. I'm thinking to myself, "I don't think people here Yelp" but after reading reviews of the top rated places (even if it's just by 5 people), we decide to give it a shot. We get in, get seated, service is nice. I just sit down and voila, complementary warm CHIPS and SALSA at my convenience. I like this place already. I took a bite. YUM. It packs more taste than regular chips, and the salsa is perfect for my liking. Since I'm not an avid Mexican food eater (I like Chipotle for Christ's sake!), I am stuck on what to order. My bf gets something someone on yelp recommended, and I am stuck to fend for myself. I asked 2 people working there what they would recommended, and the response? "Burritos? Tacos? Beef?" Uh...nevermind. I'll just eeny-meeny-miny-mo my way through this. CHILI COLORADO It's a steak that's sliced into pieces and served in hot sauce along with Mexican Rice, refried beans, and tortillas. It is superb. The meat was so delicious, and the sauce gave it an extra kick without being too spicy. The salad that came with this dish though, could be better. It was literally lettuce that you put with tacos and a slab of guacamole. And a giant slice of tomato. 2 BEEF BURRITOS Also served with Mexican rice and refried beans. Somehow, this rice is one of the best tasting rices i've ever had in my life. And I've had persian rice, red rice (Guam food), sushi rice, jasmine rice, and brown rice. But this rice....it was just so savory! The ground beef was also good and the bite of the beef, beans, and rice in one mouthful -- delish. We didn't finish the meal. I'm assuming since refried beans is mashed beans fried with lard (pig fat), we got full quickly off that. Either way, it was a delightful surprise that evening to enjoy Mexican food in Indiana.

Quick lunch in a road trip. We rely on Mexican restaurants when traveling in the Midwest and South, away from major metropolises. They're reliable and usually have a liquor license. El Rodeo did not disappoint. Good food, courteous, prompt service, and--important for us because we're traveling with a dog and it was a hot day--a window seat so we could watch the car--parked in the shade under a tree (the only tree, but we snagged it). Bathrooms are clean. Clientele at lunch includes families with well behaved children. We had a very nice time.

We like it. We've lived in western states where the food is "more authentic" but it's good for the area.

Sorry, but El Rodeo is not a great Mexican restaurant. Food is blah. Service is slow. We have better in California.

Although there…read morewere several options in Richmond the yelp reviews lead us to drive the maybe 5 extra minutes to this one. We arrived just as they opened and entered with someone who commented that in his opinion this was the best restaurant in town. We were not disappointed. The food was some of the best either of us have ever had, and we eat out frequently. The service was friendly and our meal came out quick enough. The prices were also very reasonable. Highly recommend!!!

This market has been open more than six years and sitting in my bookmarks waiting to be explored. It's part restaurant and part grocery with a few baked items (like conchae) to boot. We called ahead for a carry out order and tried the popular chunky guacamole, beef enchilada with rice and beans, salsa, and chicken chimichanga. We also needed a few items to make chicken pozole and breakfast tacos this weekend as well- they had fresh cilantro, tomatillos, jalapeños, hominy, and queso fresco. Annddd because we were hungry (and weak ) we picked up some snacks for the road like seasoned peanuts and Chile y limon chicharrones. Next time, we'll go for the horchata or agua Fresca. The gentleman working the counter was both friendly and helpful. The only reason dog holding back on the fifth star was the strong smell of fish or bad ventilation in the shop and the enchilada was a little greasy for my liking. The guacamole was chunky as others said- excellent! Enjoy this fun watery steps from the heart of downtown historic Richmond.

We were served fresh salsa & tortilla chips as soon as we were seated. The salsa was hotter than most salsas I've had at Mexican restaurants - not for the faint of heart! Hubby ordered Shrimp Delight $13.99 (Deep fried shrimp) while I ordered #23 combo plate ($10.99) of a taco and a beef quesadilla along with refried beans & rice. Hubby loved his shrimp & felt that the amount of shrimp was plentiful. My taco was good but the quesadilla was too salty. I couldn't finish it due to the saltiness. The service was okay but hubby wanted a drink refill & the server was nowhere to be found. We liked the prices & may give this place another try.

I booked a party of 22 people to share my 60th birthday party, which required me to call more than…read moreonce to achieve it, and the first person I spoke to told me just to call the day before. I am from the area but now live near San Francisco. On trips back here, El Bronco West had become one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The fact that I was trying to host an event here would need more than a 24-hour call ahead. The reservation for my party was simply a sticky note on the wall behind the cash register. When I arrived 30 minutes early to be able to look out for and greet people as they came, nothing had been set up in advance. I sensed they were waiting to see if we actually showed up. To me, a group of 22 paying customers would be treated more professionally, but it was what it was. The service and food were okay, but the real fiasco occurred when they came to put the sombrero on me and sing in celebration of my birthday. I had seen this before and had really not wanted it, but I forgot to mention my decline and figured I would just go with it and get it over with. I was not expecting to be sternly sat down and have my bearded face smeared with whipped cream. They clearly do not realize this is an act of assault! No one has the right to put their hands on you in an offensive manner. I was absolutely furious and in a state of shock. My love of this restaurant and desire to go back absolutely died in that moment. I really thought I was doing something very good for the establishment by bringing in a group of 22 people. But instead of being treated with honor and respect, I was sharply told to sit down to be put on display and have my entire face slathered with whipped cream. No one in my party, with the exception of one, was amused. Everyone in attendance, being from this area, will most likely be deterred from future visits. I am all for celebration and having a good time, but this was way too extreme. It went too far and was a complete violation of my boundaries, ruining my birthday celebration. One of my group recounted that she had been at El Bronco West during a lunchtime visit and witnessed a woman being assaulted with whipped cream, which smeared and ruined her makeup. Being at work for the day and having yourself desecrated is an act of violence. My guest noted that she, too, was furious. This proves my point that this restaurant prefers its sophomoric pranks over the sensitivities of its customers. Afterward, I spoke to our waiter and told him how angry I was and that this was too extreme. The waiter apologized, but it was too late; the damage had already been done. He did say he would tell the manager, but two days after the event, I have heard nothing. My memory of my special occasion is scarred in ruin! I will never return to this restaurant again! This establishment is clearly out of touch with its clientele. Be forewarned, if you plan to spend a special occasion at El Bronco, tell them no singing unless you wish to have your face slathered with cream. Debéis estar más atentos al respeto vuestros clients!
