This was a very nice restaurant that really stands out from the rest of the other establishments I saw in Richmond. We came in during lunch time on a weekday and it wasn't very busy. The dining room areas are very spacious, clean, and well decorated. The tables are roomy, too, so they could fit a big party as needed. I appreciated the attention they dedicated to the décor. We had a basket of chips and salsa delivered to us as soon as we sat down, and it was great to have while we looked through the menu, ordered, and waited for our food. Everything was brought out by the robot shortly, and it was served to us by the person who took our order. We appreciated him checking on us during appropriate intervals. It was nice to be able to pay the check via QR code if you were in a hurry to leave. This was a great spot to stop in for lunch, and I'd highly recommend it! read more

This was my first time here and I came with my dad. It was a pretty good Mexican restaurant, it wasn't anything out of this world. But we liked it. The robot server was pretty cool. I had the flautas and they could have been a little more crunchy but I still thought they had good flavor. My dad enjoyed his burrito, the rice and beans were very generic though. The chips and salsa were interesting. We liked the salsa but the chips were not good, they were kind of burnt. Our human server was very nice and the atmosphere of the place was very pretty. The art on the walls were beautiful and all the decorations were very Mexican. My dad has already made plans to go back and I'll join him. read more

Everyone.. DO NOT eat here. The entire experience was disappointing from start to finish. The waitress provided poor service and seemed completely uninterested in addressing any concerns. The food was honestly some of the worst Mexican food I have ever been served. I took only a couple of bites before deciding I could literally not eat any more of there food or I was going to puke. When I politely asked if the item could be removed from my bill, I was told it could not be and was instead pressured into having it remade. Unfortunately, the replacement was just as bad as the original. Rather than listening to a customer who was clearly unhappy with the meal, they seemed more concerned with forcing another plate out of the kitchen. Good restaurants stand behind their food and make things right when a customer has a legitimate issue. That was not my experience here. I left frustrated, disappointed, and feeling like my concerns did not matter. I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Its truly a disgrace to true authentic Mexican food and culture. read more

Richmond has changed a lot of the last 10 years, and I was happy to see a good Mexican restaurant in the area. I come to Richmond to see family at least twice a year but I hadn't stopped by Lulu's yet. My son wanted to come here and told me their food was really good. I ordered the birria tacos and he had the wet burrito. We also ordered a cup of cheese dip to start. The birria tacos were really delicious and flavorful. My son demolished the wet burrito. I also had a side tamale and that was honestly my least favorite part of the email. It looked like it may have been overcooked but there wasn't much flavor and it was kind of mushy. We ended with churros and those were fantastic! Overall it's a pretty good option in the area for Mexican food! read more

I have lived in Richmond since 2020. I have been a huge fan of Lulu's Richmond since it took over the tiny shack that was Roscoe's coffee. It is amazing how successful they have gotten. So much so, that they recently moved into the legacy O'Charleys on US-40. They have done such an amazing job refurbishing and redecorating. You really must see it if for yourself. The food has never been better, either. The new bar has a vastly expanded selection of spirits and margarita flavors, as well as a very extensive selection of bottled imported and domestic beer. Lulu's remains a family-owned and operated business and you will frequently see Lulu herself and her husband smiling, always happy to see you. We love Lulu's! read more

I wanted to stop in here for the first time to try the tacos but hubby was skeptical. The ambiance was a typical Mexican joint. We ordered steak tacos supreme, his with flour tortillas, mine with corn tortillas. They came out in less than 10 minutes. We got them to go & munched on them while driving. They seemed on the smallish side but they were packed full of flavor! Hubby is a believer & so am I. We'll be back when in the Richmond area. read more

New to the Midwest from SoCal and knew not to probably expect much from the Mexican food here but good grief. Ordered the nachos texanos and it was really bad fajita mix (with almost no meat) on top of cheap grocery store tortilla chips. Took 3 bites and tossed it out. We also got chicken fajitas and they didn't put the tortillas in the bag. My husband ordered tacos and said they were... fine. He did eat all three so I gave an extra star for that. The storefront is in front of Hobby lobby on US 40 in Richmond. The dining area is small, but it makes it seem more exclusive and cozy. I tried the lunch special, and it came with one enchilada, a taco and refried beans for $4.99. I love the homemade salsa and chips that you get for free while you were waiting on your food. It was a dark, Rich salsa, and not the liquefied/ puréed stuff that you commonly get at other restaurants. When I got my food, I was really surprised because the taco contained a fresh potato cooked, mashed and mixed with cheese. I would've never thought of putting mashed potatoes and cheese together on a taco shell, but it was fabulous. I am in love with the green enchilada sauce. It had a lot of flavor, but no heat and I was not in the mood for heat today. We got both of our lunches and we're in and out in less than an hour. I got a water with my meal and I loved it that without the tip my meal was only $5.34. Awesome home cooked food at fast food prices. read more

I am new to town. I went to Lulu's restaurant today 9/19/25 2pm I was starving. I ordered 3 tacos 2 Asada (my fave) and 1 carnitas $3.99 each. The carnitas was pretty good. However, The both asada tacos was so flippin dry (without exaggeration) I could barely swallow the asada it was so dry with no flavor. I poured salsa on them to moisten it up a bit. They lady at the counter asked how it was, I was friendly & honest and told her they were so dry they were hard to eat. she said oh! better next time. I paid the bill and left. If I was the chef I would have noticed and threw it away and cooked fresh. The service was good and very friendly staff. 1 extra star. **I've never posted on a yelp before but I am in hopes they will read this and will improve their restaurant quality. read more

Had lunch with a friend here for the first time. The shrimp fajita nachos were wet and barely any cheese. I'm a huge nacho fan and I couldn't finish it. There is an awful lot to like about Lulu's Tacos (besides tacos). Fast and friendly service, a wide variety of dishes you won't find at many Mexican places, a reasonable cost, etc. Have been here a few times now while in town for work and have always left thinking that I can't wait to come back. Each time I've had the tacos (Pastor) with the green sauce on the side. Just enough punch to the meat and sauce to make for a slightly spicy affair. Many other items on the menu that I haven't tried but would certainly be in here much more often if I was closer. Love this place. read more

Perfect spot for Taco Tuesday...or tacos ANYday! Tacos are one of my favorite food groups and Lulu's did not disappoint! I have been wanting to try this and finally made it. We went for just a light late lunch at 2:00 on a Sunday and the place was packed! Granted it's a small building and seating is limited but it is worth the wait! I tried a steak taco and a shredded chicken taco both on corn tortillas. I wasn't sure about the cucumber but LOVED it! The chicken taco was a little messy but tasted great. The steak taco was my favorite, though! The staff was friendly, service was quick, and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back to try out more of the menu! read more

Stopped here for dinner on the way through Richmond, and I'm SO glad we did - this place is worth going out of your way for. The food is some of the best Mexican I can remember having. The chips, salsa, and guac are all pretty solid, but the real standout was the entrees. The portions were also incredibly generous - I couldn't finish all of my dish, delicious as it was. First, the Burrito Favorito: Chicken and steak inside, shrimp, chorizo, and pineapple on top - spectacular, I couldn't stop eating it. There's a perfect char on all of those elements without them being overcooked and the flavors and textures all go so well together - hard for a dish with so many elements. We also got the aguachiles, as recommended by the waitress- raw shrimp, cucumbers, and red onions cooked in a spicy lime salsa. This was so refreshing on a hot day - I was expecting it to be spicier than it was. Definitely worth an order if you like seafood and spice! The outdoor patio setup is gorgeous, perfect on a warm night. The inside has specials posted by the kitchen, and it looks like they have a drive through. They give you your check at the table and they pay up front. The service was lovely, everyone was very attentive and very nice. Apparently this physical location just opened - if they serve food this good, I know they'll be successful. read more

I decided to try Lulu's Tacos for the first time. I thought it would be a fast food restaurant, but it turned out to be a smaller version of El Rodero. They serve chips and salsa to start, like most Mexican restaurants. What I was disappointed about the menu was that there were no combo dishes, for example with a taco, burrito, rice, and refried beans. The dishes here were all one thing. For example, a taco dish, burrito dish, steak, fish, etc. I ordered the Birria Tacos and Coke Zero. The Birria Tacos were three small tacos. They were good. The waiter seemed like he was wondering around, looking for something to do. He asked me if I wanted the spicy sauce. No,they were spicy enough for me. My first and only time encountering Lulu's Tacos was in an order for a work lunch meeting. The website and menu for Lulu's was nice, clean, good interface. The descriptions of the food were okay, but could have included some better details. For my order I got the Birria tacos with a side of Tamales. The food arrived early, but I will say due to some unfortunate circumstances, I was unable to enjoy the food fresh. Due to this I was unable to get the full experience. But what I did have was great. Good flavor and could taste the fresh ingredients. I would compare this dinning experience to Derrick Rose. I was unable to see the full potential, but I could see from what I did get that it had great potential. Overall would recommend Lulu's. read more

I was passing through Richmond and was hungry and trying to find a place that was not a chain that was open to eat at proved a bit challenging... but then I happened upon this cute little establishment and boy am I glad I did. The dining room is small but very cute after a remodel from what appears to have been a defunct fast food restaurant of one kind or another. In nicer weather it looks like the front porch dining area would be nice too. But the real star here was the food! This is not your run of the mill tired Mexican that pervades the country. From the funky decor to the friendly staff, this place is the best! I have had a few chicken tacos in my life, never expecting much. These chicken tacos were hands down the best chicken taco I have ever had. The meat has been stewed with many yummy spices and is so tasty and juicy.
