It probably just comes down to what this restaurant does well vs. what they're trying to do to accommodate everyone. Six people ordered breakfast, one person ordered a sandwich, and I ordered the Yummy Bowl because it was one of two vegan options on the lunch menu (nothing vegan on the breakfast menu). It was really bad. The flavor and texture were yucky. Nothing was seasoned except the "yummy sauce," which had the strangest flavor. It just didn't taste good. I was grateful I got a side of fries, which were excellent. I'm sure they're trying to accommodate vegans, but there is still some work to do there so the food tastes good and isn't just put together to say there is a vegan option on the menu. Everyone else loved their food. It's a nostalgic place for all of them, too, so that adds to their experience. They sat us in a room with a door, and that was lovely because it gave us some privacy and toned down the noise. For me, that was the best part of our brunch outing. We stopped by the bakery before leaving, and my husband loaded up on his favorites, and I got a loaf of San Francisco sourdough (which I ate a bit of the next day, and it was delicious). I haven't been here in years, and I probably won't be back for a while, but I will return because it's a family favorite. Maybe I'll just stick with fries and some toast next time!

Must Love Frosting

**Must Love Frosting: A Cupcake Paradise--But Don't Worry, Liking Frosting is Totally Acceptable**…read more Let's start with the obvious: **Must Love Frosting is a masterpiece of dessert engineering**, a shop so devoted to the art of cupcake perfection that every visit **feels like stepping into a sugar-coated dream world**. The cupcakes? **Flawless.** The cake itself is **moist, rich, and crafted with the precision of a world-class pastry sorcerer**, while the frosting is **whipped into an ethereal cloud of sweetness that could probably float a few inches off the plate if physics allowed it**. BUT--**and this is important**--let's address the name. "Must Love Frosting" sounds **a little intense, doesn't it?** Like you have to **legally swear allegiance to frosting before entering**, as if a secret frosting council will question your dedication at the door. **But let me reassure you:** you don't have to *love* frosting. You just have to **like it a reasonable amount**. I tested this. I walked in with **a measured appreciation for frosting**--not an overwhelming devotion, but a solid respect for its role in society. **No alarms went off. No one escorted me out.** The staff happily handed me a cupcake, and nobody demanded I write a sonnet about buttercream before I could eat it. The truth is, **these cupcakes are so good, they'd win you over even if your frosting enthusiasm was at a lukewarm "it's fine, I guess" level**. The balance is perfect--**not too much frosting, never overwhelming, always exactly the right amount** to complement the cake in a way that **transcends human expectation**. So if you're worried that maybe you're not *passionate* enough about frosting--don't be. **They'll take you as you are.** Come for the cupcakes, stay for the joy, and **leave knowing that frosting acceptance--not full devotion--is completely acceptable here**. Five stars. And **an honorary nod to those who only like frosting, but still deserve great cupcakes**.

Crown Donuts - Maple Valley, WA…read more I stopped in and grabbed a half dozen and honestly... every single one hit. What I picked: 3 blueberry cake donuts 2 Fruity Pebbles raised donuts with white icing 1 cinnamon sugar twist The verdict: The blueberry cake donuts were fantastic. Not dry. Not crumbly. Not overly sweet. Just soft, balanced, and exactly what a cake donut should be. The Fruity Pebbles raised donut with white icing though? Exceptional. Light, fluffy, perfectly iced, and nostalgic in the best way. The kind of donut where you take a bite and immediately look back at the box like... okay, who's next? The cinnamon sugar twist was classic and comforting. Fresh, generously coated, and exactly what you want from a simple donut done right. Bonus points: The atmosphere was great. Bright, welcoming, and unhurried. The short-term parking out front made popping in easy (and felt brand new ), and the staff were kind enough to let me look-e-loo for a minute while I stood there happily overwhelmed by the choices. Next time I will just heat up the empanada at home to avoid this. I would return for the empanadas.
