Adventure with this food truck started less than a month ago with me craving corned beef hash as an early morning meal, and wanting to give them a try. Few weeks later, I don't know if I can find a better spot for breakfast economically. If you want to get the most out of the money you spend, get the bigger portions (don't waste your time on the mini orders) and make two meals out of one order. Beyond the "value" items (mostly breakfast meats which simply require cooking them), don't be shy about getting the Korean specials. Their BBQ Chicken is right up there with anyone else's, and the portions more than make up for he price for the full plate. The Spicy Pork is not overwhelmingly spicy (but then again, I do ghost pepper sauce on a fairly regular basis), is made from chunks of pork (not just shredded pork), and again, for the price, is a killer deal for the portions. The Meat Jhun is, frankly, among the best I've had - the meat is deeply marinated and tender (I could actually eat it without the sauce), the egg wash is deep and flavorful with the meat, and the sauce is better than many other meat jhun sauces I've had. Finally and most notable, their Kalbi plate is nostalgic to me - there was a place on Maui called Azeka Supermarket that had AMAZING kalbi ribs I grew up with on a hibachi... back then, we no waste and eat all the stuff down to the bone because they marinated the ribs so deep, everything had flavor. This lunch wagon does the same with their ribs. Maybe one day, maybe two days in the marinade... the ribs are ono until you just got the bone and getting the flavor off that to go with the rice. To top it off, their kimchee might not have won bok cabbage, but however they make their kimchee is masterful - right amount of salt and spice, and other flavors, balance right and it goes with everything. Final verdict? 11 of 10 stars. If you want to place a big order (like 20-30 plates or more), try to give them at least one day advance notice. Open from 5am - 10:30am, if you do advance orders the day before, they'll have it ready for you to pick up at the time you ask for (got a large order from them at 6:30am for a group of hard working students a few weeks back - because I ordered the day before everything was ready for pick up as soon as I arrived - no delays, no wait). Btw... they have kimchee fried rice that has risen to the absolute top of my list as far as anything I've had in this state. The only restriction is that it's available on Saturdays only, and they don't serve kimchee as a side dish on Saturdays. Lee's Lunchwagon is perfect for morning breakfasts. All their regular breakfast plates are so delicious. I especially love their corn beef hash since I'm a huge fan of corn beef hash and eggs. My kids enjoyed their little smokies and bacon that they chop up for you in bite size perfection. The ladies who work there, they are really nice:) . They have a perfect location as well right next to Aloha coffee bar on the roadside of Costco Waipio. I was able to grab delicious breakfast for the fam as well as my coffee next to it. FYI: they are on vacation right now! Not sure for how long... I was today years old when I spoke to the original owners that they sold this food truck to the dudes you see at the Waipio location. No wonder I haven't seen my Ahjuma's and their son/grandson(?) in so long. I thought the current dudes were just occasionally filling in for them since I do recall a period when they were both working together(minus the older Ahjuma) and didn't think much of it. Few things great about this place, the ladies are nice, the price is right, and the food is cooked when it is ordered. Yes there is a little wait but its fresh. First off, the corn beef hash is really good. I would suggest adding just a smidge of salt & the pepper is a must (i am a black pepper fan). It was cooked to a crisp top & bottom, just the way I like it. The bacon was thick, crispy & already sliced for you. Cmon, what other place would actually cut up your bacon without you asking?? They give a lot of rice & my eggs were over easy...perfect. This is my go too for breakfast & lunch, since they give a lot. At 4:45 this morning, I last minute decided to bring in 12 double breakfast plates for my coworkers and myself. Before they were even opened up, they answered my call and had my plates ready in about 25 minutes! It was our first time trying this place out, and we LOVED it. Ordered all plates with scrambled eggs and got 4 plates with Portuguese sausage/corned beef hash, 4 plates with Portuguese sausage/CRISPY bacon, and 4 plates Portuguese sausage and spam. The portions were huge, and everything was cooked to perfection. The quintessential local breakfast for sure! The aunties who were running this truck were super sweet, as well! Portuguese sausage, little smokies and bacon is always on point with the soft scramble eggs! sooooooooo good!!
