I had a wonderful brunch here at Leeland House on a weekday morning. The inside of the restaurant is great, plenty of seating and a warm vibe. You order at the counter and then sit and wait for your food. The service was fast and friendly. Portions are big and the food was amazing. Very flavorful and well seasoned. They even have drinks to choose from. I had a blood orange mimosas and it was great, very generous pour and not too much juice! I really enjoyed my fried chicken biscuit. An updated review here - I've been to Leeland House several times. On most occasions, I have a great time. During my last visit the experience was pleasant, however the food was underwhelming. Sweet Potato Hash was cold, poorly crafted, and not fresh. Swapped that for a burger and that was better, but it was messy. The biscuit basket was good though. Reasonable service. A consummate brunch place in the heart of EaDo, Leeland House is sort of akin to dining at someone's house. That is, if the house happened to have a staff, large menu, a big local following, and an extra large patio. During good weather days, it's hard to find a more ideal spot for dining al fresco and enjoying some quality fare in a dynamic neighborhood. For all first timers, there is a posted sign that reads: "We are 2 buildings on 1 property. Both places serve the exact same brunch menu. FIRST: FIND A TABLE. Each table has a number and a QR menu. SECOND: ORDER AT ANY OF THE BARS WHEN YOU'RE READY. Make sure to know your table number." My favorite part in this is under the "House Rules" which reads, "EVERYONE MUST BE FULLY CLOTHED. (FOR REAL, Y'ALL). This includes shirts & shoes, no bikinis (or tops that look like bikinis)" Suddenly, I'm regretful I wasn't a regular here years ago. Their all day brunch is popular which a number of dishes that range from $8-15 mostly with a few that are $16-19. The Leeland benedict ($16) is probably one of the best ones, along with the brisket hash ($15) and breakfast plate ($15). I think the burgers are a bit underrated, especially the brunch burger ($16), which thankfully come with fries. Another big draw is their vast selection of boozy brunch cocktails that are $11 each. Additionally there are mimosas, sangria, and bloody marys that are available by the glass or the pitcher. Personally, I think the hangover mimosa is the one to get and it comes in several flavors of pineapple, lavender, blood orange, or hibiscus. There are also signature coffee drinks ($7), and the honey lavender latte is is a big one, as is the brown sugar iced latte. Whether it's a brunch date or a group gathering, Leeland House remains a good option. They are cashless and parking is a challenge during their busiest days. They're only open from Wednesday-Sunday and their hours are limited till 2pm on weekdays and 3pm on weekends. read more

Leeland House has a good vibe and the DJ definitely helped the atmosphere, but unfortunately the food and service didn't match the energy. We ordered the burger, avocado toast, and the chicken brunch sandwich. The burger was decent but nothing memorable, and the chicken on the brunch sandwich tasted like frozen chicken strips, which felt out of place for a spot aiming for an elevated brunch experience. The drinks were the biggest miss. The Bloody Mary was so salty we couldn't finish it, the coffee came out sweet without any indication it would be, and several cocktails were overly sugary and had to be cut with water just to make them drinkable. Service really hurt the experience. It took about 50 minutes to get our drinks, and they arrived after we had already finished eating, with no apology or acknowledgment from management. I went back the next day and convinced my friend to get it as well. The new changes are going to run this place into the ground. This was our every Saturday chill neighborhood hangout spot; perfect place to come after a morning workout. It was counter service and extremely efficient. I would have fully given 5 stars. But in the last few months they've added so many things, I'm not even sure I want to come back. Now they have hostesses, require reservations, and charge automatic gratuity. And it'd be fine if these things improved upon the experience, but it's gotten worse. You walk in and most tables are empty, but are still told you can't sit outside. It doesn't even have the lively vibe it used to. Everything is slower. You can just feel the energy is off. The DJs try their best, but even that can't save this. Only positive is the food is still great. I highly recommend the brisket hash or the sweet potato hash. My first visit to Leland house did not disappoint. The shrimp and grits were sooo good. Love the outdoor patio seating for nice days when I went it wasn't too crowded and was able to sit at a table immediately. It is more of a self serve Model so had to wait in a short line to order food, but they brought it out pretty quickly after. There are a lot of projectors and screens to watch sports as well. As many times as we've been here for brunch I'm surprised I haven't already rated them. Probably because I always have the best time and are to busy seat dancing or entertaining with friends to take pictures to post. They have a great outdoor space so when the weather is nice this is definitely one of the top brunch spots to be at. The food has always been fantastic here and they have great mimosa specials. Apparently they stopped serving champagne by the bottle as they used to or they don't have that offer this past weekend. But the mimosas are like $4. Unheard of these days. They select the best dj's that play a good share of any upbeat sound. Mostly house mixed in with another genre of music. If you want a more quiet vibe they do have seating in the front of the house that looks a lot more relaxed. The space is dog friendly and we've brought our dog out a few times. It's an order at any of the three windows and they will bring the food out to you, so it's pretty quick to order. They also have another window that's just for drinks. Between the three of us we had a mixture of a chicken Cesar salad, sweet potato hash and a standard breakfast plate. Everyone said their meal was great. I had the hash and it was fresh, light but filling. I did have to add an extra egg as the one poached egg wasn't enough. The only thing I would change about the hash is to add more of something else (quinoa, etc) to eliminate the vast amount of sweet potato you get. Came here on a Sunday for a birthday party. It was really a cool laid back vibe. They have the house area that is inside and you can eat in there and there is a bar as well. We went for brunch on a Sunday, and were disappointed with how everything changed from self serve, walk-up service to being served by someone at our table. The food portions have also gotten smaller despite the price remaining the same. We waited more than 30 min to receive anything despite ordering a regular carafe of mimosas. Even when we finally received our food, we still hadn't received our carafe, so I asked a different server if we could cancel bc we just weren't in the mood to drink anymore. Our waitress ended up showing up with our carafe 15 min after I canceled, so I let her know we canceled it and she was dry with us after that. I recently visited Leeland House for brunch. I will start off by saying the food was soooo good! We both had the Honey Chicken Biscuit. The potatoes that came with it were crispy and the perfect texture. We also had the hangover mimosa. Let me just say we felt good after drinking it. The perfect buzz. The service was quick and efficient. You place your order at the bar and they bring the order out to your table. They had plenty of seating, but most of it was outside (just FYI). I prefer to sit inside, but nothing was available. The vibe there was cool and casual. The music playlist was nice. The noise level was fine. Disappointment is my one word summary for Leeland House. I was very excited for the brunch at Leeland since their brunch menu looked so good, but I was disappointed with the service and the food. Our party of 3, which consists of a toddler, ordered 2 creme brulee French toast and 1 order of crispy chicken and biscuit. For drinks we got pineapple juice, and 2 lavender honey latte. 1st of for the price, the food portion especially for a brunch menu was small. Next, the biscuit was supposed to come with scrambled eggs and it didn't. When we asked the server she said she doesn't think it comes with eggs but will check. She never came back, we asked a 2nd server, he said the same at which point we showed him the menu and he got a side dish of scrambled eggs which was basically flavorless. No salt as well. From our drinks order, one latte was missing which didnt arrive in spite of asking 2 servers. We finally had to go inside where we placed the order to get the drink. The attitude and service of servers for raising legit concerns was as if we were wasting their time. Never coming back here again. read more

Our happy group of alleged retirees all met up and wandering back to the second building on the property to find indoor service. Grab a menu and place your order at the nearest bar and it appears at your table moments later. I had the creme brûlée French toast which featured layers of bread in two cake sliced portions and plenty of sweetness. We used to come here several times a year, the food is good, and the atmosphere is stellar. This was our first time in several months, and they have changed significantly. The order line took a very long time, and while ordering we understood why: several repetitions of our order later our cashier still had several things wrong. It took about 2-3 minutes to clarify what we wanted. The poor runner didn't know where we were since the incorrect table number was still in there, and even another cashier couldn't tell the difference between an open and closed tab and charged a mimosa to the wrong credit card. This is only 2 stars instead of one because the manager on duty did the work to manage the confusion and the food is still decent quality even though the portions have shrunk significantly. Came around 11am on a Sunday for brunch. I ordered the Leeland Benedict, and my friend and I shared a carafe of mimosa where we had a combination of the blood orange and hibiscus. My favorite part of the benedict was the toasted ciabatta with avocado, but all around it was a solid dish and was pretty filling. The mimosa didn't taste too different from a standard orange juice mimosa. One carafe came out to about 5 glasses for us. There is lots of street parking around the restaurant, and it definitely got busier as we were leaving around 12:30. When you walk in, you can find your own table and view the menu on the QR code. Then you order at the bar and tell them your table number. If you order any drinks you'll get them at the bar before going back to your table, and your food will be brought out to you. read more

1/13/2024- Came here for breakfast with a party of 9 after the "We are Houston 5k" race. This place was highly recommended by Houston locals and ambassadors to the race. This place is the cutest! We sat outside, it ended up being a beautiful chilly morning. They have an awesome outdoor space. You order inside and they just bring it out to you. The inside is just as adorable. The menu looked amazing. A lot of different options. Some savory, some sweet. We came pretty hungry, and everyone seemed to be super happy by their selection. Some ordered avocado toast, hash, egg sandwiches, etc. I went with the basic breakfast but there was nothing basic about it. Everything on that plate was delicious. Came here for breakfast after the We Are Houston 5K this past weekend and had a lovely experience. Leeland House was recommended to me by an Ambassador for the Houston Marathon who certainly knew what he was talking about - fantastic recommendation! The menu looked amazing but I wasn't that hungry so my friend and I opted to split the avocado toast which ended up being the perfect portion size for both of us. The avocado toast comes with a generous side salad and even two pieces of thick bacon! I really enjoyed the dish. I also LOVED the honey lavender latte - goodness gracious I could have drank like three of them - so delicious! I took away a star due to the whole order at the counter situation and that there are two restaurants that share the same space so I was pretty confused. And, when your food is ready they'll bring it to you. Their ambiance was very unique when you first enter you see cool Hip Hop rappers paintings on the walls such as Biggie Smalls and Tupac. I've heard about this place and wanted to try it out however I was really disappointed. I'm not a fan of picking a table then getting up to order food but hey that's how this place operates. My friend and I went on a Sunday, I guess it's one of their busier days because this place was PACKED! We had to sit outside because the inside is really small and was full. After finding a table, we went to the stand to order. First let down was that their coffee bar closes at 2! It was cold outside and we wanted something to warm us up while we waited for our food but there were no signs nor was it on the menu that their coffee bar closed at a specific time. Let down number 2, all 15 heaters were not working! A bunch of guests were outside shivering and complaining! When asked to speak to a manager, he said that they all ran out of propane and he couldn't send anyone to buy more. (An updated inventory check is much needed!) Third and final let down was the fact that we waited an hour for a salad with a side of potatoes and a sweet potato hash! If I ever come back, it would have to be when they are less busy and warm outside! read more

Would come back here just to try more of those, but we enjoyed the $5 mimosas. The honey lavender latte was good as well. Food wise, I wasn't too impressed with my biscuits and gravy.
