I've been to this restaurant for take-out at least 4 times and every time I go... 1. It's always busy with locals taking advantage of it's super cheap but very tiny buffet. 2. The windows are steamy, hiding what goes on inside until you open the door. 3. Thuggish-looking punks hanging out smoking and talking shit. 4. The take-out/buffet steam tables are always full and being frantically refilled while thuggish-looking punks pile on the food, even up until closing time. The clientele at this small buffet restaurant is mixed and makes for some interesting eavesdropping. The food overall is average with the majority of the Chinese food staple dishes. Some of their dishes can be a little oily, I can't recommend any of the chow mein but the fried rice and chow fun can be good. They have a tendency to over cook the vegetable dishes and over fry their eggrolls. Although, not all together stunning or exceptional they make it up with a few good dishes. The staff is friendly and prompt and the restaurant although small is clean and bright. And you can't argue much with a 2 item meal with rice or noodles for only $5. Quite possibly the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Their orange "chicken" are these hard fried dough balls dunked in an awful sauce that tasted neither of orange nor of chicken. All their other entrees were worse than the Panda Express. Their steamed broccoli was OK but it's pretty hard to mess that up. Even though the restaurant was far from busy, the waiter took forever to bring my tea. By that time, I had already finished and figured she just forgot and got myself a coke from the fountain which ended up costing me an extra drink. Whatever. Came here for lunch yesterday. No buffet on Wednesdays! Lunch meals were only limited to the rice plates. Should have left, since my son & I were the only customers. The food had high turn over...one of the waitresses would turn the food over every once in a while so it doesn't get that old glossy look. My hubby & I don't know from Burmese food, but we really enjoy our favorite Chinese-American dishes here. Mine is the Walnut Prawns and BBQ Pork Chow mein. My husband's is the Chicken Chow Fun. We have never used the buffet, so can't make a judgement on that. We like to bring home leftovers. Also, the sit-down and order food is freshly cooked. We like quality over quantity. The waitress is very friendly & efficient, and the chef is fast - we never have to wait long for our food. The price is downright cheap. For me, it's results - great food, service & price. Buffet style eating for the budget conscious (cheap). This hole in the wall (seats probably 25 max) has decent food but has a very limited selection. Of course, the dinner buffet is $6.95 so you really can't complain. In my opinion, the best options are the chicken skewers, the breaded fried fish and the sweet & sour pork. The cuisine is basically the equivalent of Chinese fast food but if you keep your expectations low, Ledu is fine. As for the crowd-- the atmosphere of the place is not classy and there are often "big" people piling huge plates of food but everyone is just minding their own business. Totally disappointing in every respect. There was no welcome or greeting when we walked in the door. She waved us to buffet without as much as a word to be friendly or courteous. The labels for the soups were wrong, and if she hadn't been standing there I am afraid we would have had Wonton Soup which was labelled Hot and Sour. The buffet food did look good, but before we were able to get the food back to the table, can you spell C-O-L-D? Never once did she come over and ask how it was. I guess she knew it was COLD. The buffet looked a bit warm, but our concern was when the temperature drops below a certain point with chicken and pork there is a food poisoning concern, and I am almost sure it was reaching that temperature. We are now concerned we may have gotten food poisoning from the food. Again never did she check on how we were doing or how we liked the food. It took us forever to have her bring our check to us, then she walks off (and our card was on the table when she brought the check) and we had to flag her down to pay the bill. We should have just left in disgust. The bathroom was a bit messy. We had wanted to go to our favorite place on Gellert for sushi, but it was closed on Tuesday, so we didn't do our research before hand and weren't totally disappointed and yes, a bit disgusted. Not likely to ever come here again, unless I'm in the area, starving to death and near broke. While I admit the cost for the buffet was extremely reasonable, the quality of the food was only so-so. They only have CA rolls for their sushi "selection" and there was nothing in the steamers each time I went up. I've been going to Ledus for their All You can Eat Buffet off and on now for 10 or so years. I have seen this place go through 3 or 4 different owners in that time, and each time it just gets worse...... I went today for lunch, and EVERYTHING WAS AWFUL !!!! The Won Ton Soup was luke warm at best, The Sweet and sour pork tasted like it had tofu in it, the fried rice was totally bland,, no flavor at all, the Siu Mai dumplings looked like they had been there since yesterday, not fresh, the wrapper was turning brown, meaning they had been sitting for awhile, and I had gotten there a half hour after they opened. There was no beef in the Beef and Broccoli, no more Chicken wings, just deep fried Chicken scraps, it's really sad, because they used to be a bargain for your buck, but the prices went up, and the quality went way way down..... Ugh. $7.95 seems reasonable enough, especially with an all-you-can-drink soda fountain. But the food was just ok. Kind of like, showing up at the end of a party and eating what is left at the buffet table. The food was *barely* warm---and when I pulled my chair out from the table, it had that thick stickiness that could only get clean if they stripped it down to bare wood. Nothing good for dessert either. There was a plate of cheap packaged cookies, watermelon slices, and almond jello....no thanks. Wouldn't mind trying the $5 Burmese garlic noodle. This restaurant also offers three burmese entrees: Kyae Oh, Si Kyat and Kyae Oh Si Kyat. They're pretty good. They're all different entrees if you were wondering. I never tried the buffet there but it looks more like Panda express+buffet. read more
