So I came here after service and it was good. I was very surprised because I have never been here and I always hear about it. So first the service was good it was one person taking orders and helping with the food. He was nice and attentive. Second, I ordered chicken and waffles which was good but they add cheese and bacon to this dish which made me a bit nervous because I was concerned it would throw the flavor off but not it was good. I would say next time no cheese, but overall the food was good. The waffle had a good flavor sweet and fresh, a little overcooked for my preference but it was good. The chicken was good and had good flavor. My friend she ordered the tres golpes with malanga and that was delicious. It was really good. We also ordered juices, I didn't like my juice it was an oatmeal with lemon juice. The place is nice like going over to a friends house. I would definitely go back and I would try other dishes, as well. read more

The 'rabo' was a joke, drowned in eggplant and completely flavorless. On top of that, the prices are outrageously high for what is essentially inedible food. This place is robbing customers blind. This is one of my favorite restaurants back in the area. They were closed during the pandemic and seeing them open again is exciting! The restaurant is mainly takeout as of right now but had let us know they will be returning with their dine in service soon. We were lucky enough to get a table today and the person who attended us was amazing in making sure we had everything we need despite being very busy from takeout orders. The food is amazing, it's my favorite Dominican place to eat from, which says a lot as there are many Dominican restaurants in NYC. All the food there is delicious and seasoned well. I've never had a complaint in all the times I've been there. I recommend this to anyone in the area. And if you have a car you could always park across the street! read more

We all know how useful Yelp can be in a clutch, but is even better in a pinch when you personally know a couple of the reviewers of an establishment that catches your eye. This was the case in point on Saturday. My truck needed some new shoes so of course I contacted my mechanic and he set the wheels in motion both figuratively & literally. While waiting I realized I hadn't eaten breakfast and it was well after 2pm. Using the same mechanic since I first got my license I was pretty confident that after 10+ years I knew the eateries in the area. For the most part I was correct I have seen Leche y Miel a 1000 times but never ventured in. So when it popped up on yelp with the reviews of my yelp buddies Bernice N. and Abigail R. it was official that I couldn't just pass by yet again. Small and cozy with tables up front and an open kitchen at the back, it was decorated just enough for the holiday season. I was greeted by one of the two young men working the front of the house and seated immediately. Even though I perused the menu ordering was a breeze. I simply went with a suggestion from each of the ladies' reviews. Smoked shrimp mofonguitos with parmesan cheese ($7) to start and the fried chicken and waffles with chopped bacon and cheddar cheese ($12) as my entrée. All to be washed down by a refreshing strawberry lemonade ($4). Everything was delish and well prepared. The appetizer was tasty and the parmesan cheese was a good touch, I think it can benefit from the addition of a sauce to enhance the experience. The chicken and waffles were perfect with a generous portion of chicharrones de pollo (fried boneless dark meat chicken chunks). I subbed the bacon for turkey bacon without a problem. Originally I was going to request that the chopped bacon and cheddar cheese be left out but was glad I didn't because it added something extra and the sharpness of the cheddar cheese helped to cut the sweetness. Overall a great foodie experience to help me kill time and the reviews of my Yelp amigos didn't steer me wrong, thanks ladies. So Im adding the final star to this place because I feel they earned it. Im just in love with this place for my spanish food fix. Now some of you may of had better, and yes I admit so have I, but when it comes to just a nice homie neighborhood spot that you just wanna sit and dine in, with such lovely owners who cares about the customers, and the food they put out, well this is the place for you. Its really nice to have this kind of resaurant around, being in the Bronx, you have a huge selection of spanish-style places, and this one is now in my top 10, maybe my number #1. Leche y Miel was the first place I came when I arrived to New York. The one thing I love about this city is how diverse the food is. I knew I wanted plantains and Leche y Miel seemed to fit the bill. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by the chef and was told to find a good spot to sit, so I obliged. We were given menus and tried lunch specials. I got the chicken with rice and my boyfriend got the beef and plain rice with red beans. I also ordered plantains on the side. The waitress was incredibly accommodating. She made sure our drinks were refilled and continuously checked on our well-being. My chicken was perfection. It was fried chicken bits but it was seasoned incredibly. The chef definitely knew what he was doing. The rice and black bean was flavorless. While I don't think that either has a real taste, I wanted something more to give it flavor. The plantains were the perfect addition to the plate. They were well-cooked and of course I loved them. The beef plate was not as good as the chicken plate. The plate was definitely smaller and had less beef as well. But, the rice and red beans did have a little more flavor than the black beans and rice. Because I checked in on yelp, I got a free dessert. We had to try tres leches (it was my first time). We made the best decision possible. We ate the tres leches in 30 seconds or less it was so good. I wasn't paying attention much when I ordered, the two other restaurant that I wanted to eat at were closed randomly. Thank god they were open. And thank god the other restaurants were closed. I spend about 40 on food and boy. It was worth 100. Everything I had was absolutely amazing even after the 10 minute walk home. And I was so full from my entire I saved the salad for the next day! Plated well, but you can't see the flavors but looks are deceiving. The chicken was so juicy and perfectly seasoned along with the mashed potatoes and the veggies are in some sort of butter sauce, bomb. The deep fried bread pudding is a MUST TRY. I Went on a Saturday around 1pm me and my fiancé were seated quickly. There were couples and groups of family inside. The restaurant is quiet and the service is excellent everyone is very attentive and they make sure you're being taken care of. The first thing we got was water.... check lol nothing worse than waiting around for water. We started with appetizers. We ordered the Mofongitos they were delicious and very filling. I got some freshly squeezed orange juices as well and it was nice and fluff wanted more but I wanted to leave space for the food. The office wanted something different for take out and we picked this little neighborhood spot in the Bronx. If you didn't know it was there you might easily miss it. For those that know the neighborhood, this venue is on Broadway between the gym and the Carvel. This is around the corner from the Police Station and McD's. A family run business, lunch time seemed a bit disorganized, the abuela knocking over the paprika spilling it all over the place and many of the items we ordered not available. The vegetable chicken soup was full of big chunky veggies. Oxtails with yellow rice and red beans looked great but were sadly bland. The spiced garbanzos and mofongitos with shrimp were delicious. I have delayed writing my review for Leche Y Miel for quite a while not sure why. My family and I first visited shortly after they opened up. They are like family now. Altagracia has treated us at family and we feel at home here. I think what really impressed me was the genuine kind nature of the owners. I remember when Chef Rideiby would see us at the supermarket he would go out of his way to shake our hands and make my son feel special and will almost always personally bring my son's favorite dish to him when we visit. Knowing my son liked maduro (ripe/sweet plantains ) he would also make sure he had a stock on hand. Consistency is the name of this game and is why they are deserving of 5 stars. I have visited maybe 50 times and while every now and then there are little things off mostly when the owners aren't there. Shrug! Go figure. Lol! It is consistently sound, delicious and a pleasant experience that you never regret visiting. Everything is made to order so it's a bit slower than most "pre prepped" places. You can see everyone in a rush as your food is being made quite nice really. The natural juices and smoothies/shakes are delicious and refreshing you can't go wrong with anyone, a great deal at $4 and filling too. There are a few items that I rave about here, the as perfect as can get seasoning mix for the fried chicken bits should be sold on grocery shelves. Delicious! Someone make it happen. The caramel/butterscoth sauce chef uses for the bread pudding (which is delish on its own) should be sold worldwide. The chimichurri sauce is delicious and yes you know should be sold at the grocery stores. Food is consistent. Food is delicious. Feels like home. You should go. I have never heard of this establishment before my friend invited me for dinner. The restaurant is small and cute for family dinners. I kept it simple and ordered the chicken and rice with beans while my friend ordered oxtails with tostones. Both dishes were great. I did feel the chicken was a little dry so I asked for more garlic sauce. As far as service, the restaurant wasn't busy surprisingly for a Friday night, but our waiter wasn't as attentive as I wouldn't liked but was sweet. I would come again if I were in the area but I wasn't completely blown away. I feel that it's on the same tier as most Spanish restaurants. I decided to go here for Sunday brunch after reading all the good reviews. The location isn't the easiest to spot while driving and parking is tight in the area. The restaurant had a fair amount of people but a few open seats. So we didn't have to wait. We ordered coffee and an appetizer to start until we decided what we wanted for our main course. After the server returned we ordered our main course and another coffee. The appitizer comes and we devour it! Very delicious! The coffee I ordered never comes and the rest of the food we ordered never comes either. We waited 30+ minutes and knew something was up when people who came after us ordered and got their food. Someone even came up to our table to ask us how we we're doing and told us our food is coming. We waited and waited some more... No food! Finally we ask what's up and we're told the food order was never put into their system. What?? We decide to leave and at this time the person I'm assuming is the manager starts with the excuses. Here we go! There was a delay in the kitchen... Well the delay didn't stop the several other people who came after us to get their food though right?? If you are the owner/manager of a business don't give your customers excuses about everything and everyone. Just FIX IT!! Apologize and find fix it! We stopped by here after a visit to Wave Hill nearby. Very reasonably priced good food. I had a cheeseburger with seasoned fries. The burger was juicy to the point of squirting and running down my hands holding the burger. My wife had the steak, which was tasty and very tender. This was a last minute take out decision for our group. If the staff and the patrons are any indication, this place is as authentic as they come. We got: Roasted chicken legs and thighs - The flavor was fine and I liked the crisp on the chicken skin but the meat was way too dry. I could only eat it after pouring a lot of the bean water on it. 2/5 Braised oxtail with roasted eggplant - This was great. The eggplant is stewed into the oxtail sauce and gives it a unique flavor. 4/5 Shredded skirt steak - I guess this is their version of carne ripiada (aka ropa vieja in Cuba). They went a bit overboard with the salt but eating it with the rice helps balance it a bit and brings out the flavor of the dish better. 3/5 I would come back here again to try some of their other stuff. While I waited for my takeout, I noticed that the staff was pretty friendly and very accommodating. Seems like a good place to come with the family. read more

What great Dominican food and service. We were in the Bronx for an interview at a nearby school and decided to walk over. This place is right next to the subway, which is so convenient. Food: WOW! Can't recall what we ordered, but it was tostones (fried plantains) with fried pork belly. I've had this dish in different variations in Puerto Rico and other restaurants, but this was the best one so far. Pork belly was a tad over-fried, not so it was dry but so it was just crispy and chewy enough to munch on. Yum. Tostones can be so bad if done wrong, but these managed to not be dry frisbees and, with the specially mixed mayo-ketchup sauce (which is definitely not plain mayo and ketchup, it is AMAZING), the dinner was transformed. I will say that dish probably needs something that isn't fried, because eating the whole thing got a little repetitive. We got the bread pudding for dessert. It isn't American bread pudding, it is like fried triangles of custardy dense cake with caramelized bananas and strawberries on top. OMG one of the best desserts I remember ever having. Service: The chef came out twice to ask about the food, and even presented us with extra dessert after we told the waiter we checked in on Yelp to get the free dessert. Leche y Miel is a Dominican cuisine wonderland. I had the chicharron de pollo con tostones, basic I know but it was so delicious and felt guilt free, usually this is a dish that's drenched in oil and usually lazily made from a truck at 2am. Leche y Miel's dish was perfectly made, fresh down to every piece of delicious chicken. Also a huge portion for the price. The service was great, had a young kid as our serve but he was very knowledgeable and had great manners. This is definitely a great place, also Michelin Recommended. Also had the banana bread pudding with the free check in offer, it was sweet, warm and fresh, there was not even a word spoken while consuming it, it was that good !!! I came to Leche y Miel Restaurant with my significant other on a Wednesday :)... Too bad we did not check the closing time for Wednesdays, and almost didn't make it! We were the last ones to eat and were treated as if we reserved the restaurant all to our selves. The food there was amazing and the staff was very polite and helpful! We ordered the mofongitos as our appetizer. The chicharron de pollo with totones and the burger with fries for our main entrées. The burger patty is so thick and juicy! I told them well done and thats exactly what i got; it was not pink, which, to me, it means that it's perfect, haha. Their french fries were yummy! The chicharron de pollo was nice and crispy, and juicy. They, also, made me a strawberry lemonade, which was so refreshing. OHHH, and we got a free dessert with our Yelp check-in, but to bad their snickers ice cream dessert was discontinued! In a neighborhood filled with disappointing restaurants, Leche Y Miel is a true gem. So much so, that they are worthy of their (at least) several-months-duration "Grand Opening". Situated between a Carvel, a martial arts gym, and around the corner from a police station, the store front does not particularly stand out. Inside, you'll find plenty of seating, an open kitchen, and a stack of cook books. The service is great. The waitress is quite pleasant, and the chef occasionally even hand-delivers his creations and checks in with patrons. There are regulars known by their names, but everyone gets treated exceptionally well in a casual atmosphere. Food options range from brunch to dessert. I had the chicken and waffles with a mason jar of Tamarind juice. The presentation was great but the taste was even better. The chicken had the right kind of spices, and was exceptionally moist and tender. And what a pleasant surprise it was to have bits of bacon distributed throughout. If you want comfort-type food that will rival any gourmet restaurant, then this is your spot. Though it may be a trek for many Yelpers, there is an incentive to ride the 1 to nearly the end, and that's Bronx prices. I only have one regret - that I did not get dessert. I'm beyond excited that Leche y Miel calls Riverdale / Kingsbridge home, because that's MY home and it means I can go here whenever I want!! Went for brunch last Sunday, around 11:30. Pretty empty, which surprised me. I ordered at the counter because I wasn't quite sure what to do & there was no staff on the floor. Got the honey dipped French toast with a side of scrambled egg & bacon and the Elvis smoothie. Everything was very good. Smoothie came in a mason jar, which I love. You could probably serve me gasoline in a mason jar and I would love it. French toast was yum, egg & bacon were average. Staff was friendly and attentive.
