    Charcuterie Board and the Viognier

We recently discovered this hidden gem, Lecavalier Cellars in Newcastle, and absolutely love it! From the incredible wine and delicious food to the outstanding service, we only wish we had found it sooner. Jeffrey always goes above and beyond to make every visit special. Whether he's helping us directly or just checking in, his friendly personality and knowledge keep us coming back. Highly recommend!

We discovered this place from receiving a 2 for 1 wine tasting at the Terra Madre Americas event. Wow what a gem of a find in Newcastle! They not only have a large selection of wines that we learned are made in Granite Bay, but they also have a long list of delicious foods including a list of specials that includes steak and a potato soup paired with focaccia! Based on my wine tasting experiences, I must say they have one of the best and largest food menus I've ever seen, so I was very impressed by their menu and knowing they have their own chef! We enjoyed our white and red wines, including Sierra Foothills Estate Barbera, Sierra Foothills Viognier, Petaluma Gap Chardonnay, and rosé. I must say I ate the most savory, flavor-filled, crab cakes sitting on a delicious river of remoulade, topped with artichoke, fennel, pickled peppers, with a side of romesco sauce. We couldn't resist adding baked brie to our food tasting selections. The service is excellent and we learned how their wines are made and they will be opening another Lecavalier Cellars with a wine cave near Loomis in Spring 2026! I enjoyed the beautiful ambiance and the excellent music that was icing on the cake! We are already talking about coming back! Cheers!

Made reservations for Thursday Dinner special. Our server, Daisy, was great! We sat at a table towards the back of their tasting room. There is patio seating too but it was a little chilly. Daisy gave us a sample of each wine that was offered in the dinner special. We enjoyed the Tri Tip dinner with a bottle of their 2023 Equilibrium. Limited parking.

Service: Fantastic! Food: Delicious! Cons: Parking is limited A gem of a place located in Newcastle. This tasting room is looking to provide high quality service that people would expect from more established wineries and they are doing it right. I've been here 4 times by the time of writing this review and the experiences have all been fantastic. All the staff really do invest in the guests. Very knowledgeable about the wine and dishes. They take the time to really break down the wine and food if you don't know your stuff like me. They check up on you frequently! I really enjoyed the Carmenere wine. It's not as dry and is easily palatable for people who don't usually prefer red wines. I'm not super knowledgable in wine, but the flavors were earthy and slightly dark fruity taste. Some nights they have live music or events to meet the owners. Can't wait to see how the vineyard turns out if this is just a sneak peak of what's to come!

First visit here, we hit it on a sunny early spring day and opted to sit outside. First thing you notice is that this wine tasting room sits right above Hwy 80 so there is some road noise. They have glass panels and ambient music that help mute it. But, if you're looking for a rural vineyard feeling, it's not here. They have two tasting choices one with red and white the other all red. My group got both. Lots of good basic wines but we really enjoyed the food. We had two salads and the charcuterie platter. All were excellent. I'd definitely go back to enjoy something to eat and a glass of wine.

Overall experience was great. Cute location on top of a hill, view of the 80. Outdoor patio is spacious with large umbrellas for shade because it does sit in a place where the sun hits. Indoor has large windows, but comfortable with indoor fans and AC. Good size interior without being oversized or too big like larger wineries which I love. I would come back and recommend visiting. Had the charcuterie board and the baked brie. Charcuterie board had some salami, olives, pomegranate seeds, breadsticks, candied, walnuts, prosciutto. Cheese and bread with mustard and jam. Everything was delicious, bit I don't think worth the $38. I don't know how to run a winery or restaurant so I'm not sure if that's market value. The baked brie came in a puff pastry, sliced baguette and a salad. Good size for price. I thought all items were delicious as well. See menu photo provided for current food menu and prices. Everyone was super friendly. Trinity was the one that worked with us. I would recommend Trinity to anyone. She was super knowledgeable on and really patient. Ambience was awesome as they weren't really busy inside and everyone that was here was super chill so it wasn't overly loud and annoying like some places can get. Super clean interior the bathrooms were really clean as well. Location is awesome, sitting on top of a hill with a view of the freeway and surrounding nature. The parking lot is on the smaller side and would recommend carpooling if you can. if you don't make it into the parking lot and you have to park elsewhere like the Valero, be warned that you will have to walk up their steep driveway. There is music playing over the stereo system. I don't know whose playlist, but today the music was really good. This is my first time here so I'm not sure what music they play on other days. Tables are bar seating and bar height, dining tables. There are two corners with chairs that look really cool like they belong in a cigar lounge. And then on a side wing there are regular restaurant height tables. We had the white and red flight tasting for $25. I thought the pouring size was good for the price and would recommend doing it again.

    Today's Chef's special tri-tip! Fabulous!

Lunch special! Shrimp along with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc a great way to start my Wednesday!

Tri tip sandwich and Italian grilled cheese

We went here for the first time on a Friday night. We had a reservation, were greeted right away and were told we could sit anywhere we'd like, both inside and out except for one reserved table. There was live music and unfortunately it was a bit too loud for easy conversation while seated inside. The tasting for two was $60 and that's what we initially ordered, but soon realized that a bottle of their Pinot noir was $60. Since we prefer Pinot, we decided to get a bottle rather than pay $60 for the tasting and then another $60 for a bottle. I believe that $60 was the lowest priced bottle. A bit pricey I think for the area. Pinot noir isn't grown in our region so the grapes are sourced elsewhere. It was a nice Pinot and well crafted. We had the Italian grilled cheese ($23) and the tri tip ($28) sandwiches. Both were tasty, although there wasn't much cheese on one half of the grilled cheese (we split our sandwiches). The portion size was good but again a bit pricey. The potato wedges were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside and came with two sauces. The service was friendly. We expected since this was our first visit that we would've been told about the wine and the winery, but that didn't happen. The parking situation isn't great. There are several spots at the top of the hill where the tasting room is located. If that's full, then there are three more spots down the hill. All were full so we had to park in the Park and Ride down the hill and just off of the freeway. It certainly wasn't ideal and we didn't really feel comfortable parking our car there. Overall it was good but we won't be rushing back.

This place is such a gem! After visiting a couple of different times, with great success, we became wine club members. The location is beautiful, and easy to get to. The wines are all delicious (and the bottles are stunners). I have even purchased bottles to gift for special events. The food is presented beautifully and always tasty. I've not had a bad experience yet!

Went to a nearby winery we'd visited before, and had a perfectly nice time and tasting. Wanted to check out one more, and saw PaZa nearby. It's the epitome of husband and wife operation. A cute little gazebo and a number of tables and chairs on a beautiful hill overlooking a small vineyard. Don't expect a Napa castle and 'chic' gift shop. It's perfect for a few friends or chatting w the table next to you. The owner, Zane, was amazing and spent a good hour with us, talking about his wines, the vineyard, and the history of wineries in Placer. But what was unexpected was how good the wines are! Most of the time, at local wineries, you're 'meh'. Good wines, but nothing special. You'll grab a bottle and thats that. But here, I actually REALLY enjoyed each wine we tried. His fermenting process is 'old-school' using huge clay (amphorae) cisterns vs stainless steel, and a variety of other nuances that seemed to really make a difference. I literally ended up buying a bottle of everything we tried (much to the amusement of my wife). This is now my new favorite winery in the area.
