I am a newer member to the Lecavalier Cellars but knew I needed to be a part of their wine club after my first sip. Every wine I've had is delicious. The service has always been impeccable. They allow for tasting at your own pace and are readily available for any questions or pours. The tasting room is tucked into the hillside and boasts views all the way to Sacramento. LeCavalier is one of the best tasting wine cellars in our area. Besides providing a stellar product; staff members are always courteous and knowledgeable. We belong to a couple of wine clubs but this group remains at the top. Highly recommended to anyone looking for quality wine. Dining options are great too! I liked this place for their food, which I didn't expect to be good. Their wine, which I also didn't expect to be good. The ambiance and the staff are all very friendly, service oriented and down to earth. I really appreciated the vision the owner had in making this place. We've been waiting for this place to open since October and they finally had their grand opening this week. The ambience here is fantastic. From their outdoor patio, you can see all the way down the valley to Sacramento. Their indoor seating is also very nice but if the weather allows, I recommend the patio. The wine tasting was a little expensive ($25-30) compared to other wineries in the area but the fee is waived with the purchase of a bottle and those prices were fairly reasonable. The server was nice (can't remember her name....i want to say it was Danielle) and the charcuterie board we ordered was tasty...although next time I'll probably just order the cheese tray. We bought 2 wines...a white (Clarksburg Chardonnay) and a red (Sierra Foothills Barbera) and we plan on coming back. A nice addition to the Placer wine trail for sure. read more

We accidentally found this gem when hunting for a new place to visit. The location surprised me because I had driven by it so many times. It's literally right off the freeway, which I thought was odd, but wasn't disappointed in the least. The building is beautiful, with a crisp look blended with a rich warm vibe. We did not expect a chef on site, so we were pleasantly surprised when we were offered a menu along with our tasting options. I got the "Reds" tasting and took a little taste from each pour off the "Whites" menu my wife got. Loved everything. Ok, let's talk wine...I'm definitely not a "proper sipping" and "the wine tastes like cherry and leather and must've been aged in an oak barrel for 9.35 months" kinda girl. I just love it or I don't. I usually go for bigger reds. I'm usually on the hunt for a good Barbera, and I love Zins. The Barbara takes a min to open up and then it's sooo lovely! Also love the Sierra Red and Estate Carmenere (hella velvety). Even though we are new, the staff feels familiar and welcoming. We went back for a second visit the next Friday and became members. This is my third time here and I wish I had a snarky comment for the establishment. However, I do not. I came in today with a lady friend and was immediately welcomed by the server who ushered us into comfortable leather chairs and pointed out their Wednesday happy hour! I had the pleasure of experiencing Lecavalier Cellars wines at our Wine Appreciation Group (WAG) event and I purchased 3 bottles of their wine. I have enjoyed sharing these wines with friends. The wine is exceptionally good. My experience at WAG motivated me to visit the tasting room in Newcastle. The food was as exceptional as their wines. The decorum was clean, new, and modern with the right amount of ambiance. The service was good although the server seemed a bit edgy. He did is best and provided all that we requested, I must say. We had one fussy person in our group that made it a little difficult for him but he was clearly agitated by her. She didn't make a scene but commented constantly about things. Hopefully the politeness of the rest of us and the gratuity made up for that difficulty. We arrived at a good time because few people were there making parking easy but parking is very limited. The wine and food are so exceptional that it's unfortunate the capacity is not larger. We did not use the patio but it looked very nice, the concern was about traffic noise from I-80. I will be back without my fussy friend because I truly enjoyed this place. read more

We made a reservation on a Saturday and headed the suggestion to carpool. We took an Uber instead. Our reservation was seamless and Cherry was our server. The tasting room is modern and elegant with a lively outdoor patio. It is easy to miss the right turn after the Valero so take it slow when driving there. We all did the white and red tasting and everyone loved the wines. Our group all agreed on the Rose and Chardonnay. The Barbera needed to aerate a bit more and the Cab was solid. For a hot summer day (it was 100+ on our visit) the room was cool and inviting. We paired our wines with the meat and cheese platter and the Brie. While a bit more bread could be served (ask and they provide), the bites were delicious with our wines. The two all gender bathrooms were well maintained and clean. Definitely Uber or make an early reservation to get a parking spot. read more

I've been waiting to come here because well..we always need a new winery. Swung by impromptu ( with no resy) on a Saturday around 4pm. Two tables filled inside and outside. We had the exuberant and lovely Cherry as our server. We came for "just a glass of white" on our way home from the new Costco because reds sounded meh in the heat. She was sweet, nice and even offered to alter the tasting menu to accommodate our no-red needs ( although we are usually cab snobs). She informed us of all the deets of the winery, the fact that owner ( French Canadian aerospace guy) is building his winery in Penryn and will have a rotating ( on its axis) restaurant there one day! And stuff she didn't know, she found out from coworkers immediately. You can see to Mount Diablo and although highway 80 is in the way, so what. The menu looked amazing although we didn't eat and everyone around who ate? Never saw their food as their plates were scraped clean. I am slowly working my way through the Place wine trail and although there's no trees, rustic setting and a highway view? The staff is amazing, the bathroom are fun ( Dyson hand dryers and gorgeous light fixtures), inside is modern and the wines are good. Coming from spoiled Napa wines, this will do.
