We walked in Thursday around 2pm and it wasn't busy. But later, people started trickling in. There's both indoor or outdoor seating. Tasting fee is $12 for 6 wines. They have very tannic, but bold reds and light whites. It's not to our taste since we like bold and smooth wines. You can picnic outdoor, but not at the bar. The male staff was nice though.

Secret Ravine Winery is a must visit! They are family owned and operated and craft quality wines from locally-grown grapes in the Placer County region. They are located minutes off I-80 in Loomis The atmosphere is very relaxing and they have a variety of seating outside as well as a tasting room bar and some indoor seating. They also have vines on site right next to the outdoor seating and picnic tables. The allow you to bring a picnic to enjoy while tasting their wines. Each wine tasting includes six tastings that range from white to reds for $12 per tasting. Many of their wines have won awards. Some of my favorite wines of theirs include their grenache rose, rattlesnake red blend and petite sirah. With their wine club you get complimentary tastings for members and 2 guests and discounts on wine purchases. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming and helps enhance the overall experience.

So happy we found this place. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I love how this winery does not add sugars during the fermentation process like most. The wine was very good. It's a popular little spot but it was meant to be with 3 seats left at the bar. Thanks for the good time, highly recommend.

Been wanting to try this place out for some time. Finally got the chance. First impression was the place was packed, but they were having a wine members event. The tasting room wasn't packed. I enjoyed my tasting with Darryl. He did a great job chatting and serving as well as serving at least two other groups that were outside. Seriously idk how he did it! Seriously! All the wines were amazing. Tasting room was very clean. Bathroom was a kick it motion sensor with aircraft takeoff sounds. Bathroom was also very clean. If you're in the area stop in for a tasting. If you can taste anything it won't disappoint.

Unfortunately, this is the first negative review I have ever written. Our party of 8 showed up with reservations. It was a bachelorette party and this was our first stop. No one was drunk, loud or rude but within moments of entering the property, we were told to "move along to our next stop". We explained that we had reservations but the very rude elderly woman told us "I didn't know it was going to be "this"". We were shocked! If you do not like large groups, put it on the website! Honestly, her loss because every other winery we went to that's day greeted us with open arms and were amazing!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

EPIC FAIL! We used to be members here; didn't continue in 2023. Glad we didn't. We had purchased a bottle of their 2019 Barbara in late 2022. When we opened it up last week, it clearly had gone bad (strong vinegar taste). Called the winery and spoke with a male (unnamed) and explained the situation thinking they would have offered to replace it. Instead, the male employee informed me that they could not accept food items for return. When asked if they would offer to replace it, he said that this was not their policy. We will NEVER return to this winery AGAIN. Ever!

I am so happy that I found this hidden gem! For $10 you get to try 7 different wines! It was very NON commercialized which is always a plus, and it was just very relaxing. We bought 5 bottles from here because we loved it so much. I will definitely come back here when I am back up north again :)

This was a surprise find. Well....it wasn't a "surprise" per se.... the folks at Casque Wines suggested we go here, so we did. This is a smaller, unassuming winery doing some really nice wines! Of the 4 places we went to, this was the only one doing a tasting. (The others we just ordered flights.) Here, we were able to taste 7 different wines! We really really liked the Verdelho (a Portuguese dry white wine) and the Montepulciano (an Italian varietal). They waive the $10 tasting fee if you buy wine, which we did so score! Their wine is very reasonable priced from $16-34 with most of the wines in $20s. Our wine guide was very nice and was able to answer our questions, like how many cases were bottled, where was the wine grown, what was the varietal mix, etc.... And she was very observant in that she would come over when we were ready for our next taste without us having to flag her down. Their tasting area is outside under the shade. I would totally come back here should we venture to this area again. PS... you can also order sandwiches from the cafe across the highway.

We visited on the Placer Vintners Spring tasting weekend. Loved the setting in their beautiful vineyard. They have a large tent set up. We even got a tour. Wine is tasty and well priced. We brought home several bottles and will return.

Cheerful tasting room & delicious wines! We visited 10/2/21 and enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere, helpful wine stewards, and delicious wine selection for tasting. Secret Ravine Winery also has nice, practical accessory items to purchase.

Teroldego. Very tasty!

Ask the Community - Secret Ravine Winery

Can you bring a picnic?

Yes. You can bring a picnic to eat outside and enjoy the sunshine. They have some amazing reds that would pair well with meats and cheese and dark chocolates. I imagine the whites would be refreshing with some fruit. :)

We invited friends and family for an afternoon tasting, grabbed lunch from the café next door, and expected a warm local winery experience. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most disappointing tasting room visits we've had. The biggest issue was the complete lack of hospitality and awareness toward an older woman in our group recovering from knee surgery. There was no accommodation, no concern, no acknowledgment whatsoever. Instead of any table service or attentiveness, we repeatedly had to get up and walk inside the tasting room over and over for every single pour. By the end of the tasting, we got more steps in than a cattle drive. The two ladies working behind the counter looked like they were counting the minutes until closing time. No smiles. No energy. No effort to educate us about the wines, engage with guests, or make anyone feel welcome. We honestly felt more like an inconvenience than paying customers. I've seen friendlier expressions on bulls during branding season. What makes this especially frustrating is that the tasting room wasn't even busy -- there were maybe three other couples there besides our group. This wasn't staff being overwhelmed. It simply came across as lazy, disengaged, and rude service. The only thing flowing less than the hospitality was the wine pours. What surprised us most is that we've visited several other local wineries in the area over the years and have consistently experienced warm hospitality, friendliness, and genuine customer care. So this experience really stood out -- and not in a good way. Usually wine country feels welcoming. Here, we felt like a herd that wandered into the wrong pasture. Such a shame because the location and concept have so much potential, and we really wanted to support a local winery so close to home. Sadly, our guests left just as disappointed as we did. This tasting experience had less warmth than a steel feed trough in January. Mad Cow Review Rating: -- Two Bulls Down Great opportunity. Terrible hospitality. Would've had a better customer experience being licked by a pasture cow.

This tasting room is looking to provide high quality service that people would expect from more established wineries and they are doing it right. I've been here 4 times by the time of writing this review and the experiences have all been fantastic. All the staff really do invest in the guests. Very knowledgeable about the wine and dishes. They take the time to really break down the wine and food if you don't know your stuff like me. They check up on you frequently! I really enjoyed the Carmenere wine. It's not as dry and is easily palatable for people who don't usually prefer red wines. I'm not super knowledgable in wine, but the flavors were earthy and slightly dark fruity taste. Some nights they have live music or events to meet the owners. Can't wait to see how the vineyard turns out if this is just a sneak peak of what's to come!

I liked that I was given time to investigate and enjoy which wines I wanted to purchase. I bought 4 bottles to enjoy at home. The Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Sierra red were my top three favorites. I docked a star since it's not really a vineyard and you have a view of Highway 80 but overall it's a great little escape and great way to spend the afternoon.
