a glass of wine on a table

Mark was our favorite! I only wished you weren't out of so many of your wines! Hubby and I had the best laugh over the "girly man". We both enjoy and appreciate the sport of bodybuilding, so seeing Arnold on these, we had to bring him home. There was another family tasting when we were in the room when we were there; they enhanced our experience. There are two other places outdoors that you're able to purchase wine and enjoy the scenery. They allow outside food, so pack a picnic and make a romantic day out of it. Check out their menu! To Mark thank you for the great service; we'll be back sooner than later for our next day date with you. Hoping you'll have more of your menu in stock, so we're able to try everything and bring more home.

First visit to Mt. Vernon. Lots of tasty, drinkable Vino!

First visit to this pretty winery today. We were there on a busy day, doing one of their wine club releases but was all good, we fit into the crowd and not only tasted a lot of wine but wound up joining their club. Lots of drinkable right now vintages. Mostly reds, a sparkling rose wine, a red and white port and several ciders. Loved their "wine island" for members. Good parking.

Mt Vernon is one of our favorite wineries in the area. So much so that we have been members for almost a year now! We don't care for white wine so whenever the releases come out they let us swap out any white wine for a red which a lot of places don't let you do. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable and the winery is DOG FRIENDLY!! So many wineries around the area aren't so we are very thankful for that, another reason why we love this place so much!

I am not a wine club member but my parents are and they absolutely love the wine selections. I've been to Mt. Vernon multiple times now, in the winter and summer times, and have only good things to say. The service and aesthetics of the winery is better than most in Napa Valley. In the summer, they have special selections of ciders as well as their various wines. Such a family friendly winery with some of the kindest workers!

Every time I walk in to this charming winery, I feel so at home! Julie and Jeri are so welcoming and knowledgeable!! I'm always meeting interesting people, from all over California, and beyond, who are also lucky enough to be enjoying the delicious, Placer County wines with me on any given tasting day! The location, tucked into the foothills, just off Hwy. 49 & Highway 80, couldn't be more convenient! The bubbles rosé is perfect for any special occasion. The Zinfandel that was just released is exquisite! My favorites, however, are the Barbera and the Cab Franc. The Wine Island (for wine club members only) is something to be experienced! Do yourself a favor and check out this gem in Auburn!

Driving around we stumble to this winery. Although it's not high end by all means, they do have decent wine but great service, great environment and great pricing. First, their wine tasting is very inexpensive; $9.00 for 16 samples' can't beat that. Staff here are very friendly and their outdoor patio is real nice with tables and shades where you can sit and have lunch while enjoying their wine. As for us, we called and had pizza delivered for the kids while the grownups sampled the wine. Don't expect any expensive fine wine here but if you're looking for an everyday wine to go with your meal, get them here.

Ask the Community - Mt Vernon Winery

Do we have to make reservations for wine tasting on a Saturday? Are there picnic tables in case our party decides to bring some snacks and have a picnic?

No reservations are needed, however, I would suggest getting there as early as you can because it get busy and crowded pretty quickly. There are plenty of tables right outside their tasting room. They welcome you to bring your own food.

This tasting room is looking to provide high quality service that people would expect from more established wineries and they are doing it right. I've been here 4 times by the time of writing this review and the experiences have all been fantastic. All the staff really do invest in the guests. Very knowledgeable about the wine and dishes. They take the time to really break down the wine and food if you don't know your stuff like me. They check up on you frequently! I really enjoyed the Carmenere wine. It's not as dry and is easily palatable for people who don't usually prefer red wines. I'm not super knowledgable in wine, but the flavors were earthy and slightly dark fruity taste. Some nights they have live music or events to meet the owners. Can't wait to see how the vineyard turns out if this is just a sneak peak of what's to come!

They not only have a large selection of wines that we learned are made in Granite Bay, but they also have a long list of delicious foods including a list of specials that includes steak and a potato soup paired with focaccia! Based on my wine tasting experiences, I must say they have one of the best and largest food menus I've ever seen, so I was very impressed by their menu and knowing they have their own chef! We enjoyed our white and red wines, including Sierra Foothills Estate Barbera, Sierra Foothills Viognier, Petaluma Gap Chardonnay, and rosé. I must say I ate the most savory, flavor-filled, crab cakes sitting on a delicious river of remoulade, topped with artichoke, fennel, pickled peppers, with a side of romesco sauce. We couldn't resist adding baked brie to our food tasting selections. The service is excellent and we learned how their wines are made and they will be opening another Lecavalier Cellars with a wine cave near Loomis in Spring 2026! I enjoyed the beautiful ambiance and the excellent music that was icing on the cake! We are already talking about coming back! Cheers!

Went to a nearby winery we'd visited before, and had a perfectly nice time and tasting. Wanted to check out one more, and saw PaZa nearby. It's the epitome of husband and wife operation. A cute little gazebo and a number of tables and chairs on a beautiful hill overlooking a small vineyard. Don't expect a Napa castle and 'chic' gift shop. It's perfect for a few friends or chatting w the table next to you. The owner, Zane, was amazing and spent a good hour with us, talking about his wines, the vineyard, and the history of wineries in Placer. But what was unexpected was how good the wines are! Most of the time, at local wineries, you're 'meh'. Good wines, but nothing special. You'll grab a bottle and thats that. But here, I actually REALLY enjoyed each wine we tried. His fermenting process is 'old-school' using huge clay (amphorae) cisterns vs stainless steel, and a variety of other nuances that seemed to really make a difference. I literally ended up buying a bottle of everything we tried (much to the amusement of my wife). This is now my new favorite winery in the area.
