I went here last Tuesday with a friend. Overall, it's a great place, great atmosphere, great food. It's rooftop, so there's a beautiful view of the city, the staff was friendly. I ordered a Moscow mule with the beef noodle soup, both of which were excellent. The soup was just my kind of spicy and the mule was refreshing as always. There are just two reasons why I won't give five stars. One is that when I was ready to pay, the waitress said that the payment system went down and we had to wait for a manager to come and fix it. That's not her fault, but we were in a rush to get to citifield and couldn't wait, so I had to Zelle her the money. That sort of thing can't keep happening in such an establishment; you must find a more stable payment system. Reason number two is that the outside tables aren't really great for eating; they're more for just holding drinks. The food itself was excellent, but the tables were sort of low to the ground and so I had to lean forward to eat. Not the best for my lower back. A fantastic place to go during this COVID-19 pandemic (or just because it's great) because of the great care taken to distance the seating areas, regularly sanitize, provide a bottle of hand sanitizer at each table, etc. The waitstaff were attentive. I love this place! The music is always such a vibe. They usually play r&b. The pretty girls who work here are very sweet and super attentive! Their drinks are affordable and tasty! WARNING: This place does not have happy hour anymore since covid started! I was confused because I had read they had happy hour from 5-8 but that was before pandemic. Anyways on with the review... I made reservations on the yelp app, easy enough. Jennifer was our waitress, she was such a doll! Really nice roof top space with hand sanitizers everywhere. They also take your temperature before entering. All employees had masks and I felt safe with all the precautions. Drinks were tasty but super weak. I made a Yelp account just to let everyone know how terrible the service was. We were a group of 6 celebrating an engagement; waitress spilled a drink which covered my entire thigh. I understand accidents happen and wasn't upset as she came with tissues for the spill. What upset me was the audacity of the team to apply auto gratuity to our bill. What an incredible find in Flushing. Leaf is located on top of the Hyatt hotel at Flushing and is close to the Flushing-mainstreet 7 train stop. It's a rooftop bar of the Hyatt's hotel. Went with a group of eight after dinner at Flushing on a Sunday. Ambience is incredibly lax, laid back, and casual. Slightly dark inside, but the background music is low to barely noticeable, which makes it a great spot for good conversations. We came before 8pm which is the end of their happy hour, and ordered moscow mules for our entire table. Each mule costs about $8 during happy hour and shoots up around $13 during non-happy hour times. Moscow Mules was great, refreshing, and had a nice balance alcohol and non-alcoholic content. We also opted for a Lu Rou Fan (pork stew over rice) since one of our friends was still hungry - it was incredibly delicious and the pork was very tender - surprising find since not that many roof top bars in the city make great food, let alone great taiwanese food. Rooftop view is decent, and you can see midtown/downtown Manhattan from its outdoor patio, which can hold roughly 20-30 people I reckon. Our server and bartender was incredibly thoughtful, kind, and were incredible people to talk to. Definitely bringing more of my friends here whenever I swing by Flushing again. read more

My favorite bar in New York. I only recently discovered this place a few months ago. It's located in a very ideal location in flushing, as it's only about 2 blocks from the 7 train. Located on the top level of One Fulton Square, it's high enough from the hustle and bustle of flushing to escape the noise and sounds, but not so far that it feels cold and unfamiliar. There's great views if you choose to sit outside, especially at sunset which is just beautiful. During the winter, they still have outdoor seating, but they have these huge heaters above you which make it super cozy. On Friday's and weekends there's a minimum charge to sit outside on the sofas, which is reasonable because of the ambiance and the view. If you plan on getting a few drinks I wouldn't even worry about them charge, but if you just want a quick drink or two just stick to the inside seating which is also great (especially the seats right next to the outdoor seating while still being indoor. You still get some of the great views while paying normal price ;) I've tried almost their entire fall and winter special cocktails menu, and theres only a few drinks I didn't actually like. Almost all of them have nice complex flavors which I really enjoy, and I didn't find too many of them overly sweet or strong. One of my favorites is the Hot Tea Toddy, which is unique as it's a hot alcohol drink. Usually I don't like hot alcohol, as just breathing in the hot alcohol fumes is enough to put me in a bad mood, but this was a very nice subtle mix of alcohol and tea you can't find anywhere else. Some of the regular cocktails I've really enjoyed is the Pineapple Express (I've recently started to like pineapples a lot and this was no exception), watermelon refresher, and the gone guavas. The food is just ok, and it's good enough for drinking snacks, but I wouldn't come out of the way just to get their food. I've had the fries multiple times (they always give ketchup even tho the description says some sort of spicy mayo?) and the popcorn chicken which goes great with alcohol). The service is amazing, and the wait staff are super nice and quick. This is definitely my favorite bar in New York, and my go to whenever I want to go drinking. read more

The atmosphere there was lovely, we sat in a covered area and there did have heaters in the outdoor space. They also did have the covered lil see thru houses as well. Wifey and I decided to do Advanced Recon the night before the Labor Day party. Emerging from the rooftop floor elevator of the Hyatt on 39th Ave (a block north of Roosevelt Ave.& west of Main Street. The first thing you see is one of their huge screen TVs with the ball game on. The vibe tonight was excited and vibrant. You could hear the din of the folk's exuberance. Wifey and I were escorted to experience one of Flushing's most beautiful views. Our rooftop seating looked Westward, with the sunset to starlit skies of Manhattan before us in awe, beauty and splendor. Wife said the view was really breathtaking. Our waitress brought out two complementary shots from the manager to welcome his first time customers. We're loving the place already. (Part 2) Labor Day rooftop party. Time to relax friends. Wifey and I returned to Leaf bar the next day. there was a Yelp advertised Labor Day rooftop party. That I learned about from my Yelp friend Jando. We're not going to miss this. I needed to check out their foods, and there was a bottle of wine I just had to try. I had used my Yelp page to invite many friends from the area to this event. And they showed up. I have to thank my wonderful server, she also was the server from our the night before. She was on point and always there for every need we had. I love great service. sometimes it's more important than the food. The food on the rooftop was really outstanding this afternoon. Really hungry, we ordered 2 types of buffalo wings, crispy gyoza dumplings, cheeseburger spring rolls, Blue Moon beer, lemonades and a bottle of most delicious Argentinian wine. Highly recommended, the "Terrazas de los Andes" 2013, ia a Single vineyard, Los Aromos, Cabernet Sauvignon. ($120.) After decanting for 20 minutes, this Cav was just so deliciously smooth, it was like drinking liquid gold. Made the entire afternoon. Then mother nature decided to put on the most spectacular sunset show. Channeling the great artists Van Gogh and Monet. The sunset on the last day of August took on an surrealistic, impressionistic feeling. Accented by the wonderful company and that kicking Cab Sav, the heavens over Manhattan became as colorful and exciting as a Grucci fireworks display. All I could do was watch in amazement. Dusk turned to twilight and evening. All the lights of the city twinkled to life and The DJ started rocking, the crowd here really lit it up. Ever since the rise of Queens Crossing, things have been moving fast in downtown Flushing or as we call it "Main Street". Who knows? It might be the influx of foreign money or corrupt politicians cutting deals cough Bloomberg, De Blasio cough, at least Flushing is looking much better and safer still not that clean and still smelly, than before. Along with this upgrade comes Leaf Bar and Lounge. This has been my go to for several years now. When I want to feel like I'm in the City without actually being in the "City", I go to Leaf. I attended a Yelp event here about a year ago with plans to eventually come back with my man. We spent our Memorial Day weekend here. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our date night minus our waitress. Our night would've been a solid five, but instead I'm unhappy to say that she made our experience a three. From the moment we encountered her she was extremely loud, never announced her name, and was all over the place. She had a bad habit of popping up at the wrong time while speaking so loudly we had to turn around to see what was the commotion. We placed our orders for Lost In Havana and the special of the day, Peaches and Cream. His drink was reminiscent of a Mojito, while mine was a smooth, but not strong mix of Japanese soda and peach Ciroc. We also ordered The Sidecar and Gone Guavas. His drink was too strong for my liking. My drink had the perfect balance of pear vodka and muddled guava. We were starved so we decided to get some apps although our plan was to go home and eat dinner. We ordered the salt and pepper popcorn chicken, beef scallion pancake, shoestring fries, and the three cup chicken. The popcorn chicken had a nice balance of salt and pepper. Be careful with the beef scallion pancakes because they fall apart easily. They were my least favorite because the Hoisin sauce overpowered the filling. The fries were deliciously crunchy, and the three cup chicken was beyond yummy. Very flavorful with an equal balance of veggies. Our waitress came out of nowhere and asks, "Did you get the drink you previously ordered for the special of the day?" Confusion was plastered on my face as I lift up my glass to tell her, "This is it". Somewhere, somehow the communication was lost. We received our apps except for the three cup chicken which took over twenty minutes to come out. Our waitress checked on us once and disappeared for the rest of the night. She messed up everyone's orders at the surrounding tables. I'm convinced she was either drunk or frazzled or maybe both. I loved this place. I hosted a meetup event here in July. I originally made reservation for 15 people, but we ended up being 18 people. They accommodated us without any hostile. We set on the outside area where we enjoyed a beautiful view and a nice summer breeze. We got there 7:45pm. We quickly learned that their happy hour was going to be over in 15 minutes. They had really good happy hour deals for food and drinks. Because there were so many of us, by the time we all placed our happy hour order, it was already 8:05pm. Our waiter was kind enough to still place our order and charge us for half-off price. This is definitely the hotspot for happy hour. My friends and I ended up staying from 8pm to 12am. The vibe there was fun and relaxing. It wasn't too noisy and crowded. Our waiter was very nice and always willing to help with any issue. The best part was we were able to pay individually. The waiter went around with his tablet and specifically select the order each person placed and charge the person. With 18 people, we didn't have to worry about how we were going to split the bill. The only negative thing is finding the entrance. It's on a rooftop of a hotel but connect to One Fulton Center. You can enter through the hotel and take the elevator up. That's the easiest way. I love this place. The drinks are somewhat pricey for Flushing but they're at least slightly adventurous with seasonal drinks making their way onto the menu every few months or so. The bartenders seem to change once in a while but the quality overall seems to be consistent. The vibes here are super casual. No dress code, no cover charge, music that isn't too loud, etc. The views are nice from the rooftop and seating is pretty decent. My recommendation is to go here with a small group of friends. It's a good spot to catch up and sip on drinks anytime of the year. Yeah sure when it's the winter time it'll be best to stay inside but the vibes are still good anytime of year. As we walked in they "require" you to spend $35 just to be seated... I mean.. To me that's a given, but to ask us that we HAVE to... kind of disrespects your customers... I mean it's a bar... drinks are usually over price anyway... 3-4 drinks in it's 50$ right there with tips.. Insulting to have to let ppl know. You think this is some Starbucks where imma just order a coffee and sit there with my laptop and mountains of books where I'll be spending hrs in!? Smh... Besides your over priced drinks the food was horrid... Your wings... was definitely NOT fresh. Double fry? More like fried for days..and refried... If you always wanted to know what paper taste like...thats what the texture of the wings are..even when dipped. The burger spring rolls... MUST be some trend they saw on tiktok... Definitely something you eat at a college dorm when you have no $$$ and just thought HEY ...this works. Overall I was not impress with how the service and food was. As for the drinks.
