This place was very good. We stumbled upon it on our day trip from Omaha. We were taken care of right away with quick and prompt service. The beer selection was good and offered a wide variety. There were ciders and lagers and I.PA.s. There wasn't a huge selection over all, but they had a little bit of all types of beer. Their hard alcohol was standard, nothing crazy, but they will definitely have something you like. Since it was a late lunch, I kept it simple with my cider and a club sandwich. Everything was good. The club sandwich was light and the perfect late lunch when there would be a lot of walking around. My fiance ordered the burger. He thought it was delicious. Fine establishment. I did not have the hamburgers which they are known for. Went with the mac and cheese. Liked how they were open to additions or subs for no charge (like veggies). Thought the food was fine for a night where I just needed some food and nothing fancy. Mac and cheese was not your typical, since it had white cheddar. I added broccoli which I enjoyed. Food could have been a bit hotter coming out of the kitchen. I always appreciate a hot dish especially with food such as pasta. Beer selection was decent. Had about 8-10 beers on tap. Some local beers too. I sat at the bar and had good service. Appreciate how the menu is set up. They mark vegetarian options with a "V" and they have a gluten free section in the back. All their burgers allow you to choose your protein also including chicken, veggie patty, or portobello. And I went on Meatless Monday so they had a veggie special which was pretty cool. Looks like they have a more seats in the back, but on empty nights they close the door and just have the bar area open where you can seat yourself. Ambiance 10 stars. Service was great. Food was just ok. Nothing outstanding or good enough for us go back for the food. My husband had the Hot Fuzz - Your choice of patty, raspberry-jalapeno jam, fried onions, arcadian greens, fresh jalapenos, candied bacon, and smoked cream cheese sauce. He chose Wagyu beef for the patty and said the sandwich was just ok. I had the Poutine and they used seasoned waffle fries and not regular fries which was disappointing. They topped it with ice cold white cheddar curds, candied bacon crumbles & red wine gravy. I told the waitress about the cold cheese curds and she said the hot gravy was supposed to make everything hot. Since it wasn't she brought more gravy but it just made everything a soggy mess. Also the gravy just didn't taste good. I also had a side Caesar salad that was just like a packaged salad from the grocers. No fresh Parmesan... just bland. Since we were both disappointed, we don't recommend the food. read more

My sister brought me here because she knew I'd love the hipster vibes and the fact that they don't provide straws (it's an environment thing--have you ever seen the video of them trying to pull the plastic straw out of a turtle's nose? It's awful.) There's a sheet hanging on a post where you put your name and party count. Once you're up, a staff member will call out your name and take you to your table. It didn't take long at all for us to get a seat, maybe 15 minutes at most. Anyway, good service, good burgers--beyond the normal meat and cheese, they're are quite a few different things to try--and good atmosphere. I'd recommend a stop! read more

My friend and I were in a Lincoln for a work trip. We decided to see a play at the Haymarket theatre earlier that evening. We had heard great things about Leadbelly and were going to go the night before but was told their AC was t working on a 90 degree day, so we went elsewhere. We were able to be sat right away with no reservation. It was around 9 pm on a Thursday and the place was pretty busy, at that moment I had a good feeling that this would be a good dining experience. When you first enter it looks like a smaller restaurant, but it's actually very big. We kept walking through different parts of the restaurant and then seated in the back. It's a very lively atmosphere with a very extensive menu. They have a full bar, and plenty of different options to choose from. I figured with the name, it might just be burgers and meat dishes, but there was much more. In fact, since my coworker and I were doing nothing but eating the entire time we were in Lincoln... We were actually looking to eat something more light like a salad with some protein. I got the special salad of the evening which was marinated chicken sausage in a Greek salad. My coworker got the southwestern cobb salad with blackened shrimp. They were both delicious. Mine is photographed below. We were greeted by a very nice server named John B. (There's another John who works there).He was great, got us everything timely and kindly. At the end when we were ready to ask for a bill, he apologized for our salads taking so long. We were so wrapped up in a conversation we hardly even knew it took longer than expected. We said don't worry, and I think because we were so kind he decided to offer us a dessert on the house of our choice. There goes our eating healthy. When in Rome. We chose the berry trifle and it was delicious. Definitely something to share with someone. Also photographed below. Overall, this is not a five-star restaurant that's going to blow your mind, but if you are looking to enjoy some fun especially with your friends this is definitely the place. We had a great night at LeadBelly and on our way out we saw our favorite actor from the play and we told him he did a great job, I think we made his night! I had to edit my original review. I went back here recently with my coworkers after a long day of work. We were famished, it was so hot outside, we just wanted to sit somewhere and eat. I recommended Leadbelly because of the great experience I had last time. This time, not so much. We got there and there was nobody at the host stand, so after waiting a few minutes we saw there was an available table outside. We figured we better sit in it before it gets taken. When we did, a frustrated waitress came over with a cloth to wipe down the table. On her way, she spilled water all over one of my coworkers shoes. It wasn't a problem, but she didn't apologize or acknowledge that she did it. We thought maybe she was aggravated that we sat down on our own accord? When she came to take our orders, she still didn't seem very warm. We ordered a round of cocktails and a few meals. I ordered a Cobb salad & a martini. We didn't have to wait long for our meals to come out, each time the waitress came back she was a little bit nicer. Possibly she felt bad. To each their own, we don't know what was going on in her life. We were ready to just get out of there, though. The food wasn't as good as I remembered it, and neither was the experience. First of all, nothing will ever, and I repeat EVER come close to authentic Asian egg rolls (from Singapore), but these were something to be respectful of. Don't take a tone with these just because they're Philadelphia-based. I'll break it down. Philly Cheese Steak + Egg Roll = Boom!! that's it, get some. Mac N' Cheese (4/5) --Solid choice. Can't go wrong if you like Macaroni and Cheese. Not too too saucy, good amount of bacon (which is extra) and chicken (which is also extra). Good cheese. To me, Leadbelly is more like a 3 star for food, but because they were so kind to seat a table of 8 tipsy drunks (from a wedding down the street) and provide some sobering eats 30 mins before closing, I have to give them 4 for this visit. Our server was kind, attentive, and funny. We were honestly just beyond thankful that we didn't end up in a taco bell or mcdonalds drive thru. We ordered a medley of foods-mac and cheese, nachos, chicken fried steak, tacos, fries, and hot dogs/brauts. Everything was just fine, basic American food. I am not sure they are deserving of the "gastropub food" genre branding, but it was some solid American food and the menu was pretty large. Since we had been heavily drinking, I didn't try any of the drinks on the menu, but many of them seem really intriguing to me. I had 2 different Flat Cars, aka tacos, one was steak on corn tortilla and other jerk shrimp on flour tortilla. The corn one was hard to pick up, so broke it up and ate it like a salad. My friend and I stopped in here for dinner after running the Lincoln Marathon earlier in the morning. We sat at the table in the middle of pub where a column went right through the middle of the table. *Nebraska Brewing IPA* I started things off with a local brew. It was a pretty good IPA. Not overly hoppy or bitter. *Cowabunga Ground Chuck Burger add side salad* The burger came with crinkle cut fries and waffle fries. The side salad was pretty big for a side salad, big enough for an entree salad. I love a good surf and turf combo. The shrimp went well with the beef patty. You could choose between ground chuck, chicken breast, or veggie for your patty. *Empyrean Brewing Carpe Brewem Mochachino Stout* I finished the rest of my food with another local brew, the brewery was across the street. I always love a stout to go with my burger and this one did not disappoint. We received good service and he was even happy to split up the check for us. The menu was pretty extensive with lots of items that sounded appealing. Their beer tap list was pretty small, but adequate. I wouldn't mind returning if I were ever in Lincoln again. read more

I ordered the full leaded jacket burger and I let them know that if the chili comes on top, I send it back. Well guess what....THE CHILI CAME ON TOP! I did however decide to take a bite before I sent it back, and BOY was I glad that I did! Delicious burger and great service! Lots of lettuce, tomato and jalapeños and black olives too! Delicious and just perfect for two to share. We went here a second time 4 days later and had a wonderful server named Katelyn! So sweet and so attentive! The only problem we had with this place was the mask nazi that met us at the front door - we were ten feet from our table they were taking us to. Not familiar with the location or town we were in we turned to yelp. we started at a place close by and seeing the yelp reviews and ratings we promptly left and ended up here. "trumpets sounding" The beer and drink selections were great. Loved the pub feel of it but at the same time you could tell the food was going to be special. I had the mango chicken and shrimp with couscous. it was really good. The shrimp had a raspberry sauce, not described in the menu but very good. Found good reviews of this place while swinging through Lincoln, and they were absolutely spot-on. Food was amazing and our waitress couldn't have been cuter (totally forgot her name - sorry.) Good reasonably priced drinks & local (Emperyan) beer on tap. I had the Smokehouse mac & cheese with smoked Gouda, pulled pork, candied bacon, and green onions- unbelievable! I had a sub par experience at Leadbelly recently. I was super excited to visit the Lincoln location. There were bugs in the light fixture at the booth we were sitting at. There was also a hair in my burger. The service left much to be desired. The waitress seemed uninterested in our table. We ordered chips and queso as an appetizer and the chips were very stale. Aside from that- the peanut butter and jelly burger was cooked well but I was turned off at that point.
