Thought it was pretty meh. I had seen pictures of the tacos, which is my favorite food group, so I decided to try this place. The taco was overpriced and tiny and just very so-so on the flavor. I know I was there at an off-time, so that would explain the lack of people. The other downer was that the upholstery in the booth was so rough that as I scooted out, I got a rug burn on my arm. Service was great, and beer selection looked stout (no pun intended). But it was lunchtime AND I was on a work trip to Lincoln AND I'm not currently drinking.... so that portion was a bust. I did get excited about the Raspberry Beret though... jerked ginger peanut butter, jalapeno-raspberry jam, shredded romaine, red onion and smoked candied bacon? What could go wrong?? The sandwich itself was good, sweeter than I'd imagined though. It could have done with more peanut butter and heat to balance out the sweet. But the fries... good lord those waffle fries were odd. If you ever had the 'space food' fries as a kid, that's exactly what I'd say these were like (though slightly warmer). Crunchy, mildly salty, with no soft potato interior... like it'd all been harvested already by potato mosquitoes. Sad. I'll try LeadBelly again though. Found good reviews of this place while swinging through Lincoln, and they were absolutely spot-on. Food was amazing and our waitress couldn't have been cuter (totally forgot her name - sorry.) Good reasonably priced drinks & local (Emperyan) beer on tap. I had the Smokehouse mac & cheese with smoked Gouda, pulled pork, candied bacon, and green onions- unbelievable! Really good burgers, really good entrees in general. If your appetite is huge go for the Full Leaded Jacket, but for those who don't want to have to be rolled out of the restaurant afterwArds, I definitely recommend the Red Beret. One of our favorite places in the Haymarket when we come to Lincoln for games! We stopped by fairly early on a Wednesday evening and decided to just share the nachos with added ground beef! Lots of lettuce, tomato and jalapeños and black olives too! Delicious and just perfect for two to share. We went here a second time 4 days later and had a wonderful server named Katelyn! So sweet and so attentive! The only problem we had with this place was the mask nazi that met us at the front door - we were ten feet from our table they were taking us to. I had a sub par experience at Leadbelly recently. I was super excited to visit the Lincoln location. There were bugs in the light fixture at the booth we were sitting at. There was also a hair in my burger. The service left much to be desired. The waitress seemed uninterested in our table. We ordered chips and queso as an appetizer and the chips were very stale. Aside from that- the peanut butter and jelly burger was cooked well but I was turned off at that point. I would like to give it another try because it seems like this is not a common occurrence/experience. read more

A group of us stopped in on a busy Saturday night and were lucky to get a table without having to wait. The server was super attentive and got everything right on our order. Cool place with outstanding service. My server Suong suggested the chicken tortilla soup and I took her word and paired it with the Caesar salad with blackened chicken. It was filling and delicious. The blackened chicken was seasoned and prepared perfectly and the small Caesar was crisp and fresh with great dressing. The tortilla soup had some zip to it and tasted great. LeadBelly's located in an historic Haymarket building, giving it an old school tavern charm, much in contrast to their Omaha location which is in a relatively new bay/building in the Midtown Crossing area. In Lincoln, the Haymarket patios can't be beat, and LeadBelly's is no exception. We came after watching the total solar eclipse on 8/21/17. Lincoln was jam-packed with people from all over the place. Plus it was the first day of classes for nearby UN-L. What I'm saying is that there were a few hiccups with service, but that had to be forgiven due to the astrological and student body circumstances. Our server was nice enough to comp our drinks, which I appreciated because I thought it wasn't really necessary. Thank you! Food -- I ordered the cowabunga burger. Single patty with shrimp (yes, shrimp), blue cheese sauce and cilantro. Shrimp on a burger just worked. Burger cooked medium and was delicious. Opted for a house side salad with my meal. Was too full from the burger to finish it. A visit here reminds me I need to hit up their Omaha location a bit more often! read more

Yelp told me I should stop here on my visit to Lincoln and I'm so glad I did. This place is located right in the middle of a shopping district and was a perfect place to stop for out of town visitors. I absolutely LOVED the menu and being able to choose between burger, grilled chicken breast or other vegetarian options for my sandwich. Everything was delicious and flavorful. Ingredients were fresh and both our burger and chicken were cooked to perfection. They had an excellent selection of beers on tap and mixed drinks to pair with their amazing food. I would definitely recommend this place over some of the other places that we passed in the area. I would most certainly go back if ever in Lincoln again. read more

We arrived with a party of 5. We were seated promptly outside. What was a little odd was that we were met by a large dog on a leash from a person at the table next to us. There was nothing listing this dog as a service dog so I'm not sure what the current policy for pets in an eating area. The server was very courteous and the food was good. Unfortunately this dog, while nice, kept meeting people while they were coming out to the outdoor seating area. I also noticed the dog owner was feeding the dog food from the table. Sadly, all of the people sitting at my table have since developed GI symptoms including diarrhea and nausea. I'm giving 3 stars as the food was good and the server was excellent. Unfortunately, I'm not feeling confident in the cleanliness of the restaurant due to the dog and the development of our GI issues. Next time we are in town I think I will try a different place. read more

This was my first time in Nebraska (Lincoln and Omaha) and this was the only part of the trip that I felt was subpar. The biggest issue was that all the food was way too salty. I like salty foods but this was over the top salt. Had the cheesesteak, fries/waffle fries, chicken burger and it was all salty. The cheesesteak was good, don't get me wrong, but just an unnecessary amount of salt. They were out of the fish and chips at the time (a friday night) so that was also disappointing. Had to ask for one of my drinks a second time because it was initially (not a big deal, mistakes happen). The mojito was very average. Nothing to write home about. Good amount of mint which is a plus but I don't think the quality matched the price. The waitress was nice. Overall, an ok experience but I don't think I would come here again. read more

Great food! The diversity from each item was wonderful! They have plenty of unique food for everyone that wants to be adventurous. I opted for the simple fish and chips today which were fried perfectly. The fries and side ceased were great as well. Others at my table had Bangers and Mash, California Dreaming, and Raspberry Beret! No complaints from any. They loved everything and would definitely come back for more! The drinks were amazing as well. We had an old fashion (which was blended perfectly), Moscow Mule, and Butter Beer. Their drinks are always unique and very tasteful. Would recommend always trying a new drink whenever you visit. Only complaint was that the service was a bit slow but we know things happen sometimes so nothing to worry about! I usually save a 1 star for a rude experience. This wasn't rude per say it was flunking horrible. The food was bland everything was overcooked, dry and tasteless. The fish & chips internal temp was 230 which is about 80* higher than it should be. Just no. No thank you. The fries were not fries because they were nothing more than hot potato chips that looked like fries...Because they were so overdone AKA grizzle. The burger... two bites and nope. Dry like a an discarded sock. Finally the Mac and cheese, it should be marketed as mack and soup because cheese should not be runny like egg drop soup. It was liquid. Finally the music... SOOO LOUD we could not hear each other talk. All this for a early dinner at 4:30. The only way this plays gets better ratings than a 1 star is because some miracle guests has only ever eaten at buffets with green eggs and ham. Service... well I did tip......but I always tip barring extreme hostility like a methed up waitress on white trash wet tshirt night. Interesting pub with extensive menu and friendly staff. We had lunch there mid afternoon so it was empty and quiet...a great place for conversation. The menu features all sorts of hamburger combos including vegetarian selections. Impressive poutine choices as well as interesting salads. My friends were just passing through from VA to CA so we only ordered soft drinks. Can't speak to the other libations available but the good was good. Portions were ridiculous. My only negative comment is that old-fashioned canning jars are used for glasses. I guess that's for clever atmosphere. But not at all pleasant. read more

Good food, yummy drinks, and friendly service! My partner and I came in and shared the shrimp lettuce wraps and the burger with walnut pesto and provolone - both items were stellar! The burger was cooked medium rare and the shrimps had a ton of flavor without being over cooked. I also really enjoyed the chopped pecans that came on the side of the wraps! We also each had a drink, a mojito and an old fashioned. I loved my mojito - not too sweet. My bf enjoyed his old fashioned as well. Only disappointing aspect (other than how loud the restaurant can get) was our peach cobbler for dessert. It sounded amazing but was subpar - not super flavorful and some of the peaches were a bit crunchy. Overall a great restaurant experience though! read more

A decent meal for me and my family on a Tuesday evening. Didn't have a beer menu, and the server didn't know much about what beers they did have. Not a deal breaker for me though. Food arrived with generous portions. Onion rings were superb! My family members enjoyed their meals, and I ordered the fish and chips. Not sure if it was a mistake in the kitchen, or if it's normally this way, but I couldn't eat the breading--it was SO salty. LeadBelly staff and chef went out of their way to provide a vegan burger although it wasn't on their menu. They have an excellent selection of appetizers, burgers and beer. Food was pretty good, especially for the price. My husband and I each got one meal and I had the cosmo. I also had the eight seconds, and he had the count cristo. Personally I enjoyed the count cristo so much more that we traded burgers. He enjoyed mine. The pomegranate cosmo was not worth the price for sure. It didn't even have a hint of pomegranate taste.
