Beef Bourguignon with sides / Dessert trio / Creme Brûlée.
Rashmi G.

We were staying near Le Volant Basque and saw the great reviews on Yelp, so we went there for dinner. They take reservations and get very busy, so definitely try to get one if you're planning to eat here. It'll take time to get through dinner as it seems most people order multiple courses, it's definitely a spot for regulars. My husband ordered the Beef Bourguignon which was deliciously tender and fell apart. It came with mashed potatoes, polenta, and rice. He said all were delicious. I wasn't feeling the best so I didn't get an entree but did get a few desserts to try out - the crème brûlée and dessert tapas (chocolate mousse, fruit salad, and tiramisu). All were decadent & tasty. I do feel like I missed out not ordering a full meal. I'd definitely make sure you're hungry when coming, portions are generous!

Waiter was older and hilarious, had character! Chef is in the window watching and enjoying his amazing food being enjoyed .. the grilled ginger sea bass was great, perfectly cooked. Sides are delicious. Shrimp appetizer with garlic ginger is next level despite being a pain to peel. The rabbit (not pictured) is the absolute best that you will ever try. It's brought in a small pot with butter garlic vegetable broth and it's one of the best things I've ever eaten. Best restaurant in Paris so far.

Perfect duck confit.

When you come to Paris this is the experience you crave. Unique space with sports memorabilia and a fantastic staff (maybe the owner) willing to guide you through the menu. The wine selection was awesome and they do a bit of mix and match pre-fixe or ala carte and will figure it out at the end of the meal. They specialize in game and offal but keep some mainstream items, like scallops, on the menu. We had the duck confit and rabbit which were both uncious served with sides of potato, rice and couscous. Easily one of the best culinary experiences of our trip to Paris. Make a reservation and don't worry if you don't get a confirmation, they will be waiting for you.

Bœuf bourguignon

Long time small restaurant in the 15e. Authentic and delicious old fashioned French fare as cooked by a bonne maman d'autre temps. Make your reservation and go test their boeuf bourguignon, pâté basque, foie gras, and clafoutis aux figues when available. If you are more adventurous, try the rognons or tête de veau. Enjoy that small cozy, elbow to elbow, shoulder to shoulder very French restaurant. Santé !

Sides with beef bourguignon

Found this place on Yelp and decided to come for the highly rated beef bourguignon. The food was amazing! Highly recommend the beef bourguignon. They had a set price for appetizer + main, main + dessert, and appetizer + main + dessert. My fiancé and I shared a charcuterie board for the appetizer, both got the beef bourguignon as the main, and shared a creme brûlée for the dessert. This was more than enough food and included a good variety. The beef bourguignon came with sides including rice, mash potatoes. and polenta. While the food was great, I deducted a star for the slightly condescending tone from the waiters for being English speakers. This shouldn't deter anyone from coming since we noticed several other English speaking tables so it seemed to just be a service related issue. Highly recommend as a beef bourguignon / French cuisine restaurant in the 15th arr.

This hole in the wall is definitely a must try if you're looking for authentic French food in central Paris! Service is good - typical French vibe (aka can be slow). If you want to sit inside I reccomend to make a reservation otherwise enjoy the outdoor table (they don't have heat lamp so can get cold) Food is amazing! We ordered the beef bourguignoun and it's the best I've had in Paris. My boyfriend ordered the steak. We got a 2012 bottle of bordeux to top off the meal. Our meal also came w three sides - rice, grits and mashed potato which was silky smooth and flavorful!! For desert we enjoyed a creme brûlée. If you're looking for authentic French food, def visit this place!

A good place to try comfort foods with varied selections, if you're from out of town. Looks like regulars frequent this place. They're friendly too. All of the food we tried, including the sweetbreads, tasted good, most especially their beef bourguignon. Service is the usual, as expected in French restaurants, you have to get their attention if you need anything else. With regards to Ambiance, it's a small place, seating is tight (based on a perspective from another country), and I'm still not used to smokers seated next to you, even if they're vaping! Smokers are usually seated on the outdoor tables. Will come back when I'm back in Paris, to try the other dishes. Kudos to the chef.

Rabbit terrine

We enjoyed a delicious meal here. I had the chèvre salad, rabbit stew, and tiramisu. Husband had rabbit terrine and steak. We also each drank a glass of wine, which was just 6 Euros. Highly recommend.

super rica toda la comida desde el entrante hasta el postre. pedir la carne de la casa con hongos súper pero súper recomendada. el ambiente super parisino y muy acogedor. el servicio rapido y bien atentos

So so so good...

One of the best places I've ever been. Friendly service kind people. everyone knows everyone that comes here. You can tell the regulars, and old-time patrons come here, staff and the owners take pride in their restaurant. We love supporting local businesses and anytime we're in Paris we love to support this establishment, so glad we found this place. It's warm inviting with nice people they have menus and will help you understand some of what they have. The decor in here is very bistro like very warm and inviting. Thank you for such great food and very kind service.

Just Basque wine.

2nd visit. A little busier this time, but noise level seemed no higher than last time. One waiter does better with non- French speakers, and he wasn't our waiter this time, but everything went well. My wife decided to get just a main this time: beef bourguignon. I ate a few bites and it was a real flavor bomb! The jus was just perfect. I ordered a couple of appetizers - pardon, "entrees" - an oxtail terrine with lentils and a casserole of snails and mushrooms. The terrine is served cold; it was tasty and the lentils were amazing. Why can't I cook lentils like that? The snails and mushrooms were very simple, sautéed in butter with garlic and parsley. I added a little salt to get them to pop a little, but they were good. Tonight, the star was the bourguignon.

dessert tapas

Came here for our last dinner in Paris. I had been craving boeuf bourguignon for a really long time and this one certainly didn't disappoint. We also tried the rabbit stew - the meat itself tasted quite like chicken but the stew broth was quite unique. Also really loved the appetizers - mushroom soup and escargots with mushrooms (one of my personal favorites). Glad we got to try a variety of deserts with the tapas. Our waiter was very welcoming and funny - 10/10 service, food and overall experience.

Ris de veau, entricote with grilled onions and Leah!

This restaurant was quaint and full of memorabilia mostly to do with race cars, boxing and film. The food was simple and delicious. It was chosen because the menu was Ofal centric. Rabbit terrine, duck hearts w/lardon, sweetbreads w/mushrooms, entracote w/grilled onion. We went early and there were only a few tables. By the time we finished they were full and hopping. I would highly recommend to the adventurers diner.

La Cantine du Troquet - Fish topped with black olives and tomatoes, delicious and fresh

La Cantine du Troquet

Apparently one of four restaurants around Paris, LCDT is fairly small and crowded at lunch, but well worth a visit for a pleasant meal with some lovely wines and good service (one of the waiters had passable English). There are also seats at the wine bar. The list is short (bottles and by the glass) but with wines you'll have fun exploring. I enjoyed the seared tuna (thon poêlé) for 25 euros, and we had a lovely glass 2016 Claudie Jobard Rully Montagne La Folie from the Côte Chalonnaise (10 euros for a typical Paris pour). Also a fantastic bowl of parsnip soup, which could have been a meal in itself (10 euros). If this was in Boston, people would be lining up. Definitely get a serving of the frites for the table!

We became acquainted with Christian Etchebest because he collaborated last summer with a local Cape Cod French chef, Phillipe Rispoli (who trained with Paul Bocouse in Lyon, and opened Daniel Baloud's Las Vegas restaurant which earned a Michelin star). That restaurant, PB Boulengerie and Bistro is in Wellfleet, MA. If Chef Rispoli has high regard for a chef, we should all pay attention. In this case, we're absolutely delighted that we did. Of course Chef Etchebest's deserved reputation is sufficient by itself. We called for reservations because we couldn't do it online. English was not a problem. There are 6 Cantines. This is the one on Rue Cherche Midi. 2 of the 4 of us had just arrived so it was an early dinner, and quite a good one. We started with Foie Gras, a wonderful leek dish, and my wife ordered razor clams (which rated A+). Plats: 2 of us ordered a lovely, simple, beautifully prepared veal dish. 1 of us had a well prepared cod dish, and my wife had amazing pork cheeks with pui lentels. We had 3 veggie sides, served family style: mashed potatoes, Ratatouille, and Salade Verte...all excellent. Desserts: we split Ile Flottante (floating island) and Pomme Crumble. Both wonderful, but the former was particularly so. The service was attentive, professional, and friendly, but not intrusive, and this was one of the memorable meals we've had in Paris. We're not talking about haute cuisine here. But you'd be hard pressed to find a better bistro experience, and we'd definitely return!
