Oh, how I love, love, love the cuisine at Le Rendez-Vous. Italian is my first love, but classic French is the lover that stole my heart. The classics are represented here at their finest (unless you want to jet to Paris). Escargot au Chablis, Wellington, Coq au Vin, and Coquilles St. Jacques, are just some of the tempting menu offerings. If calories were not an issue, I would sit at the door and wait for them to open each day...then stay until they closed (indulging in any and everything they have to offer). I would have given 4.5-5 stars for the food, but I feel the decor is a slightly out-dated. Hence, the 4 stars. Ambiance is almost equal to the meal to me -- in order for me to have a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant now offers small plates for $5.50, for those that may just want to sample a few items. During Happy Hour (5pm - 7pm, Tuesday - Friday), it may be more advantageous to order regular appetizers. They are half priced, with larger portion sizes than the small plates. The Moules Provençales' white wine cream sauce is SO delicious, that you'll want to order extra rounds of bread to dip into it. Happy Hour cocktails are only $5! Don't forget a sweet ending! They feature a decadent creme brûlée (my favorite dessert), along with several nice dessert wines. As I'm not inclined to whip up anglaise or pull out the blow torch with any regularity...I'm glad Le Rendez-Vous is not that far away! read more

This little restaurant next to a hair salon and behind a Circle K is pretty good! Their food and drinks are well worth the visit. It can get pricy, so be sure to know what you're getting yourself into, but I find it is worth the experience. When my fiancée tried the grand marnier souffle, to her, it was the best dessert she's ever had. Last time we visited family in Tucson, she kept asking if we were going to go get the souffle from this place which we did. I'm sure we'll be back again during the holidays! read more

This is probably the best example of French cuisine in Tucson. We have been here many times, the nightly specials are always flavorful and well executed. We love sitting in the bar area as it is more open and the booth seating is very comfortable. Will be back! read more

Food is good. Service was particularly good. Orange juice is over priced st $3.25 per small wine glass. It was empty this Thursday morning.

But, wait, this is supposed to be a culinary destination in Tucson-- and I'm giving it 3 stars? (GASPS!!) Unfortunately, I am serious with this rating. I've been twice, once for dinner (we did 3 courses) and once for their happy hour (appetizers and drinks). If I were basing this review on our dinner, I would give it at least 4 stars, but our happy hour experience wasn't the best. First of all, the food is incredible. The Beef Wellington is perfection on a plate, the escargot is a buttery delight, and their desserts are wonderfully rich. However, the stars get lost at service and ambiance/atmosphere. The decorations are outdated and it feels very stuffy the instant you walk in. In both occasions, we made reservations (highly recommended). When I called to make the reservation for happy hour, I stated that we were coming in specifically for happy hour. When we arrived, they seated us in the "main dining room" instead of the dining area near the bar, and our waitress was quick to tell us that they don't honor happy hour where we were seated. Now, keep in mind, there were plenty of open tables in both rooms, as well as the fact that these rooms are open to each other. We offered to move and informed her that we told them at the time the reservation was made that we would be doing happy hour only. It was just off-putting and made us feel awkward. She obliged and served us, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. The appetizers were small, some of which were very good and other which were good but nothing special. Anyway, it's worth checking out but keep in mind that it's quite stuffy and the ambiance is outdated. I would recommend splurging for dinner over doing the happy hour small bites. read more

Arrived at 7:00pm and they were already out of the duck. Very odd since it was the beginning of the prime dining time. The duck is what I went to eat. Oh well. Had the veal and it was great! The wait staff was very attentive and very helpful. My wife and I were taking pictures and two separate servers asked if they could help. Perfect! Unfortunately our waitress was not that great. Asked us how our food was seconds after they set our plates down. Never saw her again until the check. She was impersonal and useless. In summary, great food, great staff, lousy waitress. read more

We just went here for my boyfriends birthday. Instead of ordering one entree each we opted to order most of the small plates alongside our wine. I cannot tell you how amazing each dish was. The scallop was prepared perfectly, which is the signature of a well trained chef. The crab stuffed shrimp, duck confit, escargot and beef Wellington were all so succulent and full of flavor. The finale was the baked Brie. If there was a dish I would describe as heaven, this would be it. There was no need to order dessert, as nothing could top it. There is no doubt we will be back. Keep up the amazing work. Muah! I adored Le Rendezvous. read more

Wow!! Absolutely to die for!! I have to admit, upon exiting my car and looking around the area, the first thing I said to my girlfriend was there's just absolutely no way this is a fine dining restaurant, judging by the old building the restaurant is located in as well as the area. However my mood about this spot quickly changed after the wonderful service we received from Lucius I believe his name was. Very friendly gentlemen who is my primary reason of wanting to come back to this place!!! read more

I have not been here in years, everybody who knows food in Tucson has either been here or at least heard about it. My memory was the food was amazing but the atmosphere was a little too claustrophobic grandmas french parlor (reminded me of some old school places i went to in France and Belgium). What I experienced this time was mouth watering, buttery rich satisfying impeccable dishes, as well as a cleaner more updated venue. It was packed for a weeknight, and when you go there you will know why. This is a true Tucson gem! read more

Very pleased with this place. We ordered all small plates and were so glad we did. The Beef Wellington was wonderful and we also really enjoyed the Brie. The waitress recommend the Brie and we weren't sure but happy we did. The mussels and escargot were good but not on par with above. Our least favorite was the salmon. For dessert try the chocolate lava cake with vanilla goat's cheese ice cream. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful. I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

Le Rendez-Vous is the perfect restaurant for those who enjoy the finer things in life. From duck l'orange to an authentic Grand Marnier Souffle every course looks and tastes of the time and care put into it by the chef. They also have a very impressive wine list. The waiters are attentive without being to intrusive and the atmosphere is very pleasant. read more

I took my gf for our one year anniversary here, this cute little hidden away restaurant was fantastic. Wasn't too uptight, wasn't snobbish, our waiter was very easy going and greeted us by name as we entered. The food was wonderful, and the wine list extensive. Will definitely return Also the desert crepes made at the table were fantastic! read more

It is not often that I crave French cuisine... Honestly, I just can't think of a time where I suddenly had a huge urge for frogs legs, but over the years I have heard so much about Le Rendez-vous I figured it was about time to give it a try. We ate there shortly after the new Executive Chef took over this spring. My dinner date and I went all out. We had the escargot and the mushrooms in puff pastry. I am not an escargot fan but my dinner date really liked them. However the mushroom appetizer I ordered was to die for. I think I would have poked him with my fork if he wanted to try a bite! I am tempted to go back once a week just for that. After hors d'Oeuvres I was already filling up but went for the scallops which were melt in your mouth delicious. My date had the Veal with caramelized apples. He was very pleased and said it was a much better version of his favorite pedestrian pork chops and applesauce. For dessert, both now bursting at the seams, we shared the Crapes Suzette prepared tableside. They were not on the menu but someone had recommended them and the staff was happy to make them for us. Next time I go back I want to try the Happy Hour in the bistro which features small plates so that I can sample more before getting completely stuffed! A note before you go - this restaurant is designed for dining. Be prepared to spend an hour and a half or so if you decide on multiple courses. For us that was no problem! read more

I have always been a huge fan of French Cuisine because it is so complex and there is an art behind the food as well. I have lived in Tucson for 20 plus years and the area is saturated with Mexican and Asian Cuisine and not enough of these locally owned authentic French venue. We arrived at the restaurant with party of four and were seated immediately. Four highlights that will propel the restaurant ahead: Setting There is a warm, cozy ambience with Le Rendezvous that you can't get anywhere else, it is the right size and makes you feel like you are in France and not in Tucson between Ft'Lowell and Alvernon. Staff The staff are very professional, attentive, well trained and overall nice people to be around. Food The Duck Confit Parmenier is so mouthwatering and ducks are some of the difficult meat to cook because of its distinct smell of the meat and yet there was none. There was a little left and when the waitress asked me if I was done with my plate, I said "Yes" with regrets and watched her took away the finest French food. The Cog Au Vin is amazingly good with perfect balance between the fried round cuts potatoes, the caramelized onions and the melt in your mouth chicken meat. Restrooms The restroom is very clean and actually smells good. There are paintings throughout the venue which adds a nice touch to the restaurant/galleria setting. To sums it all up it was a wonderful experience and my compliments to the Staff, the Chef and the Owner, I definitely will be returning to Le Rendez-vous. read more

Best restaurant in Tucson. Especially for a romantic dinner. read more

When my wife and I think French food, it means Chateau Briand with bernaise sauce. . . And a grand marnier soufflé. Le Rendez-vous did not disappoint. Meat was tender and finished to done ness tableside. Bernaise was tasty. And to start we had an amazing baked Brie with apricot glaze over Carmel apple sauce. It tasted like dessert. What better way to start our meal. And of course the soufflés- yes plural. Just order your own and your tongue will thank you. read more

A top-notch Tucson restaurant! It's all too common to go to a fine restaurant and find that you just did not get the kind of eye-opening quality that you paid for. Le Rendez-Vous totally did it for me. Best meal: The Beef Wellington is unbelievable! I fancy myself a very good cook and I was painfully aware of how far beyond my skills every component of this dish was. That's worth every penny! Followed it up with a chocolate souffle - heavenly. It's small, pricy, and caters to an older crowd. Nevertheless, it's also a perfect restaurant for a romantic date (she'll feel younger than ever!). read more

Yelp reviews succeed AGAIN! We came here because of Yelp and will surely come again. I had two tapas plates for lunch: the mini-wellington and the escargot. Both were delicious as well as pleasing to the eye. My wife had the beef stroganoff, with the same results. Ambience is lovely: red, high-domed ceiling trimmed in black wood. Service was quite attentive and friendly. All wore black and white uniforms (bow ties, even!) read more

A romantic red domed room with low lighting, clinking wine classes, and hush tone conversation is what I walked in to my first time here. Greeted by an employer named Terri having made a reservation with Raymond, we waited about 10 minutes for a wonderful choice table. I feel the only thing missing slightly in my initial impression was that I could hear no music at all in the red domed area of the restaurant. Upon inquiry, one of the servers mentioned an acoustic issue if the volume were to be raised and the negative impact in one half the space. But, the ambience was otherwise just fine. Arriving before happy hour ended, I was able to sample a little more than I would have of the menu. Our party ordered mussels, escargots , Brie in a pastry puff with wild mushrooms , and a mini Wellington which is featured like tapas as a "petit plat" read more

I had wanted to try this place for a while, and now wish I had definitely gone sooner. Sure, it's on the pricey side for Tucson but the food is delicious. Shared the Chateaubriand and it was so, so good. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. Also had the chocolate souffle, which did not disappoint. Atmosphere was lovely and service was perfect. read more

Fabulous I think it is the best food I've had in a very long time. I cleared all my courses plate empty. First time we did the dining room.. I had a peppercorn filet that they flambé-d right at our table. Can't wait to go again. &&&& but well worth it. Service & good impeccable. read more

Well the wife and I came here for our most recent anniversary. I had the lamb shank and I don't remember what my wife got except that she ordered a soufflé for desert. Our server was very engaging and overall we were well taken care of and really had a good time. The food was great and we talk about going back some day. It definitely caters to an older grey or mature set but I've realized we're one of them so I guess it's OK to be there. They were very accommodating to my diet requests. I had the crepes for dessert - yum! read more

Great food, but bad service. Our server was indifferent and absent. She didn't describe many dishes and described a couple incorrectly. I ordered a fish special because she described it as being wrapped in puff pastry with herb sauce when it was actually wrapped in parchment paper. Big difference! There were no herbs that I could tell. Just some citrus and carrots and squash, so the dish was very bland. I would have considered saying something, but I was really hungry and we didn't see our server for a long time so I decided to just eat it. Once we were done, the server just brought us the check and never asked if we wanted dessert or anything. When we said we might like a dessert, she brought us a menu and just said "Here's a dessert menu" and walked away. The desserts on the menu didn't seem appealing, but a different server came up to answer questions and he did a great job of making the desserts seem great. So, we ordered two desserts when the original server would have sold zero. With the exception of my entree, everything else tasted amazing. I tried some of the beef wellington, the frog legs, the Canard Montmorency, and the aforementioned desserts, and they were all delightful. The thin sliced fried potatoes they serve on the side are ridiculously good, and I wished I had asked them to hold the vegetable side and just served me more potatoes. So, the food is some of the best in all of Tucson, and I know at least some of the servers know what they're doing. I just wish that my visit had the quality of service to match the food. read more

The restaurant is located in a strip mall, as are most in Tucson. One side is decorated with about 15 tables, a small bar, and the roof is a burgundy tent. The other is the same but no bar, and roof is exposed (artificial) beams. Tile floors, art on the walls, medium lighting. The wait staff are friendly but rather average. No description of food, no checking back to see if you need anything else except at the end of the course. No discussion about specials which are written on board. I ordered salad - Salade de Poirres Pochées($7) of diced pears that tasted a lot like crap apples but had been instead soaked in spices and port. Goat cheese, spring greens, golden raisins, and pine nuts. Good but nothing out of this world. No added interesting spices or exotic greens to make it really stand out. Bouillabaisse$15 Tomato fish stew, scallop, shrimp, salmon, mussels, seabass. and salad. Perhaps french Bouillabaisse is very different than Cajun food. This dish had a brown almost clear sauce with a taste of fish and base of broth was more like beef than tomato. It was interesting but I was used to having tomatoes and leeks etc included. I could not taste any tomatoes. The fish was cooked well. I ordered a red velvet cake as I misunderstood what the server said. She mentioned white chocolate with chocolate mouse but instead it was red velvet cake with strong chocolate mouse and white chocolate whipped cream. This would have been fine, but the mousse was so strong, I couldn't taste any of the other flavors. I scraped it off and ate the remaining fairly bland red velvet cake. The coffee was excellent. I had two glasses of wine and the meal came to $60 including tip. I probably wouldn't make a point in returning to this restaurant unless the;y did a big change on their menu. read more

Food 4 Stars service 2 thus average 3 Went for Mother's Day and did the chefs tasting menu and thought the food was excellent, however after the first drink order we were a dry table would of ordered a few parings but our waitress was no where to be found. Went with a dear friend to celebrate her 85th birthday, and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The setting is country French, right down to linen table cloths and colorful china. The food was authentic and superb, beautifully and delicately flavored. Our servers were both polite and welcoming, and the simple elegance of the surroundings made for a perfect occasion. Thankfully, this is one of the few restaurants in Tucson that still permits a normal conversation without blasting inappropriate music. You can't quarrel with Frank Sinatra and Edith Piaf! The high point was a completely unexpected birthday dessert souffle, compliments of Chef Gordon. It perfectly balanced lemon, sugar, eggs, cream, and magic. It was like eating flavored air. We were in heaven. Thank you, Chef Gordon! read more

Oh wow, what a treasure! We've lived in Tucson for 3 years - didn't go to restaurants for a year and a half of course - and just discovered Le Rendez-vous. A great find for us, just a great experience from the second we walked in door. Great service, incredible wine list. We had Beef Wellington and Steak au Poivre Vert, both outstanding, and can't wait to return. A wonderful experience in every way, especially as it was one of our first forays back into "normal" dining in a long time. read more

Love this quaint French restaurant. We ordered several small plates and loved all four. It's a great spot for a nice dining experience.

Several months ago I wrote a critical review Le Rendevous. Since then several discriminating friends suggested I give the restaurant another chance. I have, in fact twice in the past month. I can say that significant improvements in the menu and quality of service have changed my mind. Le Rende-Vous has gotten their act together. If you enjoy French modern French cuisine and don't care to pay through the nose for it this is the place..sadly the only place in Tucson. Wine selections are fairly priced. Courses are generous and the quality is very good. read more

Celebrated our anniversary last night. After reading reviews, we decided to go with the small plates. We ordered one of each. They are $6 a piece and offer 2/3 bites per plate. This was a perfect way to get a taste of various items on the menu. Loved them a but the salmon. Pretty dry. Also enjoy the onion soup as well as Creme brûlée and soufflé. Staff was very knowledgable and helpful when we had questions. We will defiantly be going back read more

I attended a catered event for a professional woman's group who had reserved the bistro/bar area for the evening. It was fantastic! Our hosts effortlessly accommodated 40 + women and made room for the speaker, all while providing us with an array of tasty appetizers. My favorites were the salmon on sea cucumber and the BRIE! This was followed up by a delicious dinner and desert buffet. Yum and so very French. I would recommend it for any business group who seek an intimate location for a meeting followed by fine food and wine. It is also a great location for an evening out with your significant other, or with the family and friends. I have done all those events and must say that the energy in the young owners is infectious. They are doing a great job! read more

To celebrate my 30th birthday, my husband and I drove over an hour from Sierra Vista to try out this place. When we arrived they had no reservation for us though my husband called yesterday. They gave him the option for 5 or 730 so we chose the latter. They accommodated us at a table where I had to move in order for my husband to get through to use the bathroom. (I'm 6 months pregnant) Our server, Vanessa, introduced herself to us and asked about drinks. We chose to do water. She later took our order and we never saw her again until it was time to pay. The runner/water guy was fantastic and way more attentive than the person whom was supposed to be our server. Upon receiving our appetizers, my husband received an unopened mussel and told the person that picked up the plate but still nothing from a manager or the server. I went to the restroom and the paper towel dispenser didn't work. I didn't notify anyone and I guess I should have but that's something you should probably check daily. I came here for the chocolate cake that I saw online because it's my birthday but there wasn't any. :( I shared creme brûlée with my husband. The taste was good but it was refrigerated and brûléed who knows when. I've never had creme brûlée that wasn't freshly brûléed. The food was fantastic which I'm happy about but service could have been much better. Lastly, we were the youngest table there. It must have been 50+ night or we have very mature taste. Overall, it was good but I'm not sure I'd come here again. It's worth a try though. read more

Le Rendez-vous - Escargot. The best I've ever had! - French Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

My wife and I have eaten at LR many times over the years since my first review in 1016. It never ceases to please us. Once again, we ate there last night (Nov. 4, 2020) and we had the pear salad and escargot pre dinner--they were excellent. My wife had the scallop dish and I had the duck with bing cherries and kirsch sauce--both absolutely delicious!. Service was prompt, courteous and efficient. I had a glass of the Cote du Rhone blend, which was OK--probably wouldn't order it again. But all in all, the dinner was wonderful; LR is a solid 4+ restaurant! We highly recommend it and we will continue to return. read more

Went here as a make up Valentine's date with my boyfriend and wow oh wow did this place just spell romance. However to the ladies who decides to wear heels, the floor is a bit uneven. Other than that, everything is just dandy. I ordered scallops and my boyfriend ordered the beef Wellington. The scallops were so nice and plump but the game changer was definitely the beef Wellington. Not saying that the scallops were bad. In fact they were very delicious. It's just the beef Wellington was cooked to a beautiful sear, the puff pastry was so flaky & buttery, and topped off with this sweet berry sauce. Just a wonderful symphony of flavors in my mouth. We ended the night with the souffle and tea. The perfect dessert; so soft, airy yet slightly crispy & creamy. You put in dallops of this lemony, orangey cream which makes the souffle more divine.
